Patrick Wooden

GOP Senate Candidate To Join Anti-Gay Forum Featuring Extremist Pastors

Southern Baptist pastor Mark Harris, who is running in a hotly contested GOP primary to take on Democratic North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan, launched his political career by driving the successful campaign to ban same-sex marriage and civil unions in the state constitution.

It should come as no surprise then that Harris will join some of the nation’s most fervent opponents of gay rights at the April 24 North Carolina Regional Briefing, hosted by the anti-gay Family Research Council. Speakers joining the GOP hopeful at the event include:

Patrick Wooden

The North Carolina preacher alleged during the marriage amendment campaign that gay men “have to wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels.”

He reiterated his claim in follow-up interview where he insisted that he knows of gay men who have “literally died in diapers” because they “have stretched their anuses, their sphincter muscles” with baseball bats, cell phones and animals:

I know of a case where in a hospital a homosexual male had a cellphone lodged in his anus and as they were operating on him the phone went off, the phone started ringing. There’ve been instances where men have put bats, baseball bats, in their rectums.... Even the homosexual lobby knows, those who are pro-homosexual, they know that they cannot win the argument describing what it is that these people actually do to each other, the objects, the animals in certain cases, the little gerbils; thank God I’m a human being!

Wooden has also called homosexuality “wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human sexual behavior,” said Tyler Perry and Chaz Bono are under Satan’s influence, warned that Glee promotes “a wicked, perverse lifestyle that destroys people” and described violence against gay people as “normal.”

E.W. Jackson

The pastor and failed GOP Virginia lieutenant governor candidate drew wide notoriety for his claims that gay people are “degenerate,” “perverse” and “very sick people psychologically, mentally and emotionally.”

He has also warned that homosexuality “poisons culture, destroys families, destroys societies [and] brings the judgment of God unlike very few things that we can think of,” adding that it is driven by “spiritually darkened” people who seek to “recruit” others.

Jackson has linked homosexuality to bestiality and pedophilia, feared that Obama “will force schools to start teaching all children homosexuality” and criticized gay rights advocates and progressives for having supposedly “ done more to kill black folks whom they claim so much to love than the Ku Klux Klan, lynching and slavery and Jim Crow ever did.”

He even labeled the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell an “abomination” and said that God will punish the military for allowing openly gay service members, remarks he later denied making even though they were captured on audio and videotape.

Rick Scarborough

The Texas-based Religious Right leader has built a career around stoking fears that Christians will face imprisonmentpersecution, communism and concentration camps if gay marriage becomes legal. He also says that gay people should be only referred to as “sodomites” and should “hang their heads in shame.”

Scarborough blamed the 2012 Benghazi attack on “the assault on God’s institution of marriage,” insisted Obama’s opposition to Russia’s anti-gay crackdown will lead to God’s judgment on America, described AIDS as divine punishment for gay “immorality” and called for a “class action lawsuit” against homosexuality.

Ron Baity

The North Carolina pastor who leads Return America, a group which pushed the marriage amendment, has said that “homos” are worse than maggots and akin to murderers.

He has also alleged that gay people are making society “more filthy” and bringing about divine punishment in the form of an “urban renewal program,” adding that “perverted” gay people should be “prosecuted” before they cause the “death” of America.

“Since they cannot produce they must recruit young people to their perverted, warped agenda. One cannot think of anything more nauseating, debased, lewd and immoral than recruiting precious young people into such shameful conduct,” he wrote in a Return America newsletter.

Tony Perkins

As leader of the Family Research Council, Perkins defended Uganda’s “kill the gays” bill and connected homosexuality to a whole host of evils, including death, sexual assault, depressionsuicide, government population control, and child abuse. He has even compared homosexuality to shootings, kidnappings and alcoholism.

Perkins has also said that gay rights advocates are using “disgusting” anti-bullying programs in schools to “recruit” children, arguing that gay youth shouldn’t be affirmed for who they are since they intrinsically know they are “abnormal,” leading to depression and suicide.

The FRC head told one Religious Right group that gay rights advocates are “hateful” pawns of the Devil.

Patrick Wooden Says Obama's Support for Gay Rights Adds to the Black Community's Pain

Patrick Wooden, a favorite pastor of the National Organization for Marriage, spoke to anti-gay writer Michael Brown on Line of Fire Radio yesterday where he went after President Obama and the Democratic Party’s endorsement of marriage equality. While he shied away from his usual topics about how gay men need to wear diapers until their early death as a result of a life of shoving cellphones, baseball bats and animals up their anuses, Wooden argued that President Obama is contributing to the pain of the “decimated” black community by favoring marriage equality and is sending a terrible message to black children.

My position is African Americans are people also, we want the same things that all other Americans want, we are a part of this country, we have built this country, so we should be counted also and considered. Our families, our homes have been decimated, and with the things that have happened in our community, do we need to add to it a President where little black boys and little black girls are hearing this great man in the most powerful position in the land say ‘I believe same-sex marriage is the direction that the country ought to go in.’ Then that same little black boy or little black girl looks to the heroes in the black community at the local level which are the preachers and the community leaders and the NAACP leaders and then they see the leaders line up and follow this man. What kind of message are we sending our children? And we’re the most vulnerable.

While Wooden said he doesn’t plan to vote for Romney since he is “a bishop in a cult,” he did warn that marriage equality will ultimately force churches to hold same-sex wedding ceremonies and end the freedom of religion. He said that the Democratic Party platform “actively supports evil” by endorsing abortion rights and gay equality, calling same-sex marriage “the greatest oxymoron that I know” and asserting that its supporters have embarked on “an evil endeavor.” Christians who back Democrats therefore are “sowing to the flesh and they’re going to reap corruption, they are sowing to the wind and they’re going to reap the whirlwind.”

The same God of the Bible who will not allow me to vote for the most pro-abortion, same-sex marriage president that we’ve ever had will not allow me to vote for a bishop in a cult. Now, some argue that well even though Mitt Romney is a Mormon there are social positions that he takes that those who are Christians agree with, such as Mitt Romney has said he will protect the sanctity of marriage, he does protect freedom of religion, things like that. Because we do know that at the end of the day this same-sex marriage thing is all about our maintaining the right to practice our religion the way we have been practicing it because if those on the other side had their way I think that where it’s headed is if all the laws were overturned churches could possibly, their 501c3 status could be challenged if they didn’t allow members of the same-sex to use their sanctuary to perform weddings and no true man of God will allow that.

If any platform, if you look at the two platforms and as you said in your opening this show doesn’t support the Republican Party or the Democratic Party, but of the two platforms only one platform actively supports evil. Abortion is evil. Same-sex marriage, the greatest oxymoron that I know, is evil. Those who are trying to redefine marriage, that is an evil endeavor. The Bible says let God be true and every man a liar, now when Christians line up behind anyone whether they’re black or white who are promoting evil, then they are sowing to the flesh and they’re going to reap corruption, they are sowing to the wind and they’re going to reap the whirlwind.

LaBarbera and Wooden are Positive that Nobody Wants their Kids to be Gay

Yet again, the guest on this week's installment of Peter LaBarbera's "Americans for Truth Hour" was none other than Patrick Wooden where the two dedicated one more hour to discussing the results of the marriage amendment vote in North Carolina and their mutual animus towards gays and gay rights in general.

This time around, Wooden and LaBarbera predicted that one today's young people grew up and had families, their support for marriage equality would fade because, down deep, nobody wants their children to grow up to be gay, not even parents who are gay themselves, and anyone who says otherwise is lying:

Wooden: Young people grow up and it's amazing what happens when you become a mom or a dad yourself. It's amazing what happens when, all of a sudden now you are entrusted with a young life and that kid looks just like you and all of a sudden now it's your little boy or your little girl. No one wants their son to be a homosexual. No one wants their daughter to be a homosexual.

LaBarbera: The liberals are now saying, they are going around saying how happy they would be if their son came home, or their daughter, and said "I'm gay." And it's almost like they are arguing against nature that they are trying to persuade themselves because honestly I don't think many would be happy, and it's not something to be happy about to know that your son or daughter is entering an aberrant and immoral lifestyle. And yet, that's what they keep saying.

Wooden: Well, they're saying that be we know that's not true. No one, no one would want their child - even the homosexual father doesn't want his son to be homosexual; the lesbian mother does not want her daughter to be lesbian.

Patrick Wooden on Gay Marriage, The Golden Rule, and Strangers at a Family Reunion

Peter LaBarbera today posted yet another interview with his new best friend, Patrick Wooden along with John Kirkwood, pastor of Grace Gospel Fellowship in Bensenville, Illinois, discussing the recent passage of the marriage amendment in North Carolina.

During the discussion, the three men tackled a wide array of related topics, including President Obama's statement of support for marriage equality.  It was Obama's citation of the Golden Rule in explaining his views that seemed particularly offensive to them, prompting Wooden to offer up a truly incoherent statement that "most people don't invite strangers to their family reunions" while Kirkwood simply compared Obama's citation of Scripture to Satan:

LaBarbera: Talk about this use of the Golden Rule that Obama cited to justify his new support of the so-called homosexual marriage.

Wooden: It's funny, he's quoting Scripture to debunk Scripture. Amazing. But I agree with the President on the Golden Rule, I think we should do unto others as we would have them do unto us ... I don't that that I should aid anyone in entering into anything that does apply to them or does not appertain to them. Words still have meaning and the word "marriage" means something, it means the union between a man and a woman. So I don't know how he's applying the Golden Rule but I think we should treat people the way we want to be treated. But if a person wants to do something that doesn't apply to them, then I don't think we should help them do it.

Most people don't invite strangers to their family reunions. Most people don't allow perfect strangers to come into their house and sit at the dinner table and dine with them. And we shouldn't, under the Golden Rule, allow people who are not to participate in marriage to be invited into the union in the name of treating people the way we want to be treated. It makes no sense.

LaBarbera: And John, also, four years ago or long, dismissed Romans 1 to justify his support for homosexuality. So talk about this.

Kirkwood: Yeah, I don't think he holds The Word with a great deal of esteem. There was another guy in Matthew 4 who quoted The Word to rebuke The Word. It's not going to work out so well for him.

Matthew 4, for those who may not know, is when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by Satan.

NOM's Hypocrisy on Civility

The National Organization for Marriage has found time between its campaigns to enshrine anti-gay discrimination in state constitutions to join a Religious Right attack on gay activist and author Dan Savage, who has forthrightly apologized for comments he made when some students walked out of a speech he gave at a high school.  Earlier this week, NOM blogger and “culture director” Thomas Peters, speaking about the incident on a Seattle radio show, said NOM wants to debate issues like marriage with civility and respect.  When the interviewer told Peters he has heard vitriolic and denigrating language about gay people from religious leaders opposed to marriage equality, Peters said that “when people on our side have said something like that, NOM is always very careful to distance ourselves from those sort of comments, to say, ‘that’s not us, that’s not our movement.’”

Really? Is that why NOM promoted Rev. Patrick Wooden as a spokesman for the anti-gay amendment that voters in North Carolina just passed?  As RWW has reported, Wooden has called anti-LGBT violence “normal” and encouraged parents to beat their transgender child, blamed Oprah, Tyler Perry and the cast of Glee for promoting “wicked” and “perverse” causes, said that Chaz Bono is controlled by demons and claimed homosexuality is a “wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human sexual behavior."

We have also reported that NOM also promoted Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, who Brian notes has said that gay rights is “Satan’s plan” and “Satan’s point of attack on the United States,” claimed “Oprah [Winfrey] will have to answer to her Creator” for “promoting” homosexuality, wondered if gay TSA agents were deliberately groping passengers, attacked the US for trying “to lecture the Ugandans about homosexuality” by opposing their “kill the gays” bill, and agreed with Oklahoma State Rep. Sally Kern that homosexuality is more dangerous than terrorism and the greatest threat to America.

Faced with this vitriolic and denigrating language, NOM's response has not been to say, “that’s not us, that’s not our movement” -- it has been to promote the vitriol-spewers as spokespersons for their movement.  So it’s hard to take too seriously anything NOM says about civil debate.

NOM Promotes Anal-Obsessed Patrick Wooden… Again

Once again, the National Organization for Marriage is promoting North Carolina pastor Patrick Wooden, who stars in a video meant to drum up support for the state’s discriminatory Amendment One. The North Carolina Traditional Values Coalition includes Wooden and other Religious Right activists in the video urging people to vote for Amendment One, which would ban same-sex marriage and civil unions in the state constitution, and Wooden maintains that there is “no bigotry” against gays and lesbians in their efforts:

NOM likes to claim that they are not “anti-gay” but simply against “redefining marriage,” but they’re not fooling anybody when they use a spokesman who called anti-LGBT violence “normal” and encouraged parents to beat their transgender child, blamed Oprah, Tyler Perry and the cast of Glee for promoting “wicked” and “perverse” causes, said that Chaz Bono is controlled by demons and claimed homosexuality is a “wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human sexual behavior.”

And those are just his least notorious statements.

Wooden in an interview with Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality alleged that gay men ultimately “have to wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels”:

In a second interview with LaBarbera, Wooden went on to describe how gay men have “literally died in diapers” because of their inability to control their bowels as a result of shoving cellphones, baseball bats, and gerbils up their anuses, saying that he thanks God he is a human being so he is not put up a gay man’s rectum.

NOM should really stop pretending to be confused when critics call the group “anti-gay.”

LaBarbera and Wooden Reminisce about when Violence against the LGBT Community was 'Normal'

On last week’s edition of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality Radio Hour, a self-described “former homosexual” called for the arrest of author Dan Savage for his campaign to end suicide among LGBT youth, and today host Peter LaBarbera and guest Patrick Wooden reminisced about when violence against gay and transgender people was considered “normal.”

Wooden, a North Carolina pastor and anti-gay activist with who has claimed that older gay men have to wear diapers after a lifetime of shoving a variety of objects and animals up their anuses, started the program by criticizing NAACP president Ben Jealous for addressing the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Creating Change conference. In his speech, Jealous described how his childhood best friend whom he considered a brother was bullied not only because he is black but also because of his “preference for wigs, dresses and make-up.” Pastor Wooden said that the family should have “whooped” him and “taught the child how to dress,” saying that his “heart breaks” for the NAACP’s stance on LGBT rights.

Later in the interview, Wooden and LaBarbera both claimed that it was “normal” for men to violently react to a gay man they perceived to be flirting with them and LaBarbera even said he fears that it would be considered a “hate crime” for a man to punch a transgender woman using the woman’s restroom.

Listen:

Wooden: My heart breaks and I literally mourn over what has happened to the NAACP. Ben Jealous says he has a brother who is transgendered in his family, the little boy grew up dressing like Diana Ross or somebody when he was a child, well I say his parents should’ve took the child and whooped the child’s behind and taught the child how to dress.

Wooden: If you want to get knocked out just go into a male bathroom in the African American community or any community I would think and you’re standing there in a dress and many times the people are trying to hit on people, trying to make sexual responses, one man there, you know, you don’t want to be in there feeling like another man is trying to look at your penis. We’ve always had a hostile response, or a disrespect if you will, for that kind of behavior.

LaBarbera: It used to be common of course, I’ve heard many stories. I remember a story from a military guy, saying a guy came and he was a sailor and they had some temporary little day off at port and some guy hit on him and he decked him.

Wooden: That’s normal.

LaBarbera: When you make a sexual advance against a man on man, that is a normal response, and yet I fear in the rise of political correctness what’s going to happen is, somebody is going to find out that there was a man in his wife’s—his wife was in the restroom when a transgendered man, a biological male, was in the female restroom and he’s gonna punch him, but then the man who punches him is gonna be charged with a hate crime, that’s what I’m afraid of.

Wooden: We’re not promoting, advocating violence here.

LaBarbera: Of course not!

Patrick Wooden Rails Against Glee, Madea, Big Momma and Oprah for Promoting Gay 'Perversion'

North Carolina pastor and anti-gay activist Patrick Wooden appeared once again on Peter LaBarbera’s Americans For Truth About Homosexuality Radio Hour, where he responded to critics over his comments that he has an “anal obsession.” Wooden has claimed that gay men have to “wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels” when they are older as a result of shoving cellphones, baseball bats and animals in their anus. Wooden told LaBarbera that anal obsession is “the very basis of homosexuality” and he simply wants to tell gay men to “get it together, let the Lord deliver you and let God give you a woman, a wife, where you can enjoy the pleasures of a wife” and stop “participating in these perversive, sexual acts”:

Wooden: Now it is amazing that you and I are called men who have the obsession with the anus, right? Anal obsession, is that what she said? Is that not the very basis of homosexuality? We’re not homosexuals. What we’re saying is, we’re saying to men, ‘hey, let’s get it together, let the Lord deliver you and let God give you a woman, a wife, where you can enjoy the pleasures of a wife.’ Now you’re talking about a case of the pot calling the kettle black, we have no anal-obsession, but we are armed with the truth about the damage that people are doing to their rectums and anuses as a result of participating in these perversive, sexual acts.

He also had strong words for the show Glee, which he claimed is trying to portray homosexuality not as a “wicked, perverse lifestyle that destroys people” but as just “two clean cute little boys holding hands acting like two little effeminates.”

Wooden believes that “Satan has used Tyler Perry’s character Madea” and Martin Lawrence’s character Big Momma to promote “perversion” among African Americans. “Madea is the latest version of RuPaul it is selling perversion and drag to the African American community,” Wooden said, “and I pray that the overwhelming majority, and I see evidence of it, are not buying that perversion.” He ended his diatribe by lamenting that Oprah Winfrey, a frequent target of Peter LaBarbera’s condemnation, is a supporter of gay rights:

Wooden: We’re not talking about some little innocent looking thing that you may see in Glee, two clean cute little boys holding hands acting like two little effeminates and that is what homosexuality is all about and people think that it is something like that when we’re talking about a wicked, perverse lifestyle that destroys people and I think that it’s high time that people who think like we do come out of the closet and let their voices be heard, if not society will continue to go in the toilet.

LaBarbera: Talk about the inroads that gender confusion and homosexuality have made in [the African American] community?

Wooden: I believe one of the major inroads, one of the two that Satan has used Tyler Perry’s character Madea. This guy Tyler Perry he pretends to be an old, African American lady, he dresses up in drag and he’s this Madea character and I think Martin Lawrence he takes on this Big Momma character and these are throwbacks to Flip Wilson’s character I think that it was Geraldine. Well what has happened is, I said this before, in the name of entertainment and jest Satan has caused many to buy a whole lot of wickedness, he’s made great inroads in the name of entertaining us and people flock out because there are those, and I’m talking about good hearted people, they flock out because they love Madea, they love the Tyler Perry movies that feature Madea, but I’m saying to them that Madea is the latest version of RuPaul it is selling perversion and drag to the African American community and I pray that the overwhelming majority, and I see evidence of it, are not buying that perversion.

LaBarbera: Now let’s go to a black liberal, Oprah, I wanted to get you to comment. I saw one of her final episodes before she went off the air, now she’s on her own network, she ended it and she had this appeal on homosexuality. When I looked in her eyes, I saw somebody who had become a hardened supporter of so-called same-sex so-called marriage, she has evolved, she has rejected her Christian upbringing, whatever Christian upbringing she had Patrick, she was a hardcore supporter of homosexuality and I wonder how that happened. Do you think that’s just a factor of swimming in that Hollywood environment?

Wooden: I think it is; I think it is a factor of swimming. I think and this is just my opinion I’ve never talked to Oprah in my life, I think it is part of the price that she had to pay in order to build her empire. I would say to her if I had the chance, hey Oprah what has a man or a woman profited if they gain the world and lose their souls, if they gain the world and lose themselves?

Wooden: Chaz Bono is Under 'the Influence of the Devil'

I think we all owe Peter LaBarbera a sincere thanks for bringing Patrick Wooden into his anti-gay activism because every time Wooden opens his mouth, we get great content for our blog.

When we were searching for a photo of Wooden to use for our latest video of him asserting that gay men shove cellphones, baseball bats, and gerbils into their rectums, we went to Wooden's website where we discovered a video of LaBarbera and Wooden talking about "Fighting Homosexuality in America."

Most of the video consisted of things we had already heard Wooden say, but then the two started discussing transgender issues with LaBarbera calling it "the most awful, God-rejecting movement" and citing Chaz Bono, whom Wooden asserted was under "the influence of the Devil, demon spirits [and] spirits of perversion":

Patrick Wooden Warns that Gay Men Shove Cellphones, Baseball Bats and Animals up their Anuses, Die in Diapers

North Carolina activist Patrick Wooden has become a favorite of groups like the National Organization for Marriage, the Family Research Council and the American Family Association, and most recently joined Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality at a rally denouncing the Southern Poverty Law Center. On a recent appearance on LaBarbera’s radio show, Wooden called homosexuality a “wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human sexual behavior” and should make people “literally gag.” Wooden added that gay men have “to wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels” by their “40s or 50s” as a result of “what happens to the male anus.”

Today, Wooden appeared on LaBarbera’s show and stood by his claims, going as far as to say that gay men regularly shove objects such as cellphones, baseball bats and animals up their anuses and that he personally knows a gay person who “literally died in diapers” because he “literally lost control of himself.”

Listen:

Wooden: I do not back off or back down from my statements at all. I was giving anecdotal examples that I am personally aware of that have happened as a result of men who have given themselves over to this lifestyle. One man past away, a friend of mine shared this information with me, that where what used to be his anus had become a gaping hole and he literally died in diapers, he literally lost control of himself. There are examples of men who have stretched their anuses, their sphincter muscles so that they could fit objects into themselves that once the sphincter muscle is stretched too much it will not contract. Because the truth is, despite the anger of the homosexual community, the anus is not a vagina. A vagina, a woman can give birth, God so designed it, the hips release can give birth to babies and things return back to normal. The anus doesn’t work that way; this is one of the reasons why many male homosexuals place larger and larger objects in their rectums.

I know of a case where in a hospital a homosexual male had a cellphone lodged in his anus and as they were operating on him the phone went off, the phone started ringing! There’ve been instances where men have put bats, baseball bats, in their rectums!

Even the homosexual lobby knows, those who are pro-homosexual, they know that they cannot win the argument describing what it is that these people actually do to each other, the objects, the animals in certain cases, the little gerbils; thank God I’m a human being! Because if you talk about what it is that these people actually do, they can’t win the argument.

NOM Promotes Patrick Wooden and AFTAH's Rally against the SPLC

The National Organization for Marriage is now promoting last week’s rally hosted by virulent anti-gay activists Peter LaBarbera and Patrick Wooden, of ‘gay diapers’ fame, against the Southern Poverty Law Center. The rally included speeches from not only Wooden and LaBarbera but also a representative from Scott Lively’s Abiding Truth Ministries, who said in a statement that he is “asking God himself to destroy this organization.” Wooden, who spoke alongside NOM president Brian Brown at a North Carolina rally for a constitutional amendment outlawing same-sex marriage, has said that homosexuality is a “wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human sexual behavior” and that gay men are forced “to wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels” as a result of “the problems that homosexuals have with their rectums.”

The rally was organized by Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, the group led by LaBarbera who has said that gay rights is “Satan’s plan” and “Satan’s point of attack on the United States,” claimed “Oprah [Winfrey] will have to answer to her Creator” for “promoting” homosexuality, wondered if gay TSA agents were deliberately groping passengers, attacked the US for trying “to lecture the Ugandans about homosexuality” by opposing their “kill the gays” bill, and agreed with Oklahoma State Rep. Sally Kern that homosexuality is more dangerous than terrorism and the greatest threat to America.

NOM is not alone in pushing Wooden and LaBarbera’s work. American Family Association president Tim Wildmon and Family Research Council president Tony Perkins recently had Wooden on their radio show Today’s Issues where they lauded his stance against gay rights.

American Family Association and Family Research Council Proud to Stand with Anal-Obsessed Pastor Patrick Wooden

On Today’s Issues, American Family Association president Tim Wildmon and Family Research Council president Tony Perkins hosted and praised North Carolina pastor and anti-gay activist Patrick Wooden, the very same pastor who said that gay men “have to wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels,” to condemn the Southern Poverty Law Center’s work against anti-gay organizations. Wooden has not only focused on “what happens to the male anus” but also said homosexuality is “wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human” and should make people “literally gag.”

Remember, this is the pastor the AFA and the FRC brought on their radio show to prove why they do not deserve the SPLC’s ‘hate group’ classification.

During the show, Wooden claimed that SPLC, which he recently protested alongside Peter LaBarbera and Matt Barber, was “hijacked” and “infiltrated” by gay rights advocates, and called homosexuality “deviant” and a “death style,” and even claimed that the LGBT community discriminates against African American males.

Perkins accused the SPLC of trying to “silence the debate” over gay rights and Wildmon asserted that the SPLC “switched over” to covering LGBT issues because racism is in “rearview mirror here in our country and we moved beyond that and they had to have something to do,” and labeled the AFA and FRC anti-gay hate groups simply because the two organization “stands for traditional marriage and against homosexual marriage.” However, their stance on marriage equality was not part of the SPLC’s criteria as “not one of them was listed because of their position on same-sex marriage.”

North Carolina's Anti-Marriage Leader Has an Anal Obsession

Yesterday, North Carolina pastor Patrick Wooden appeared with right-wing activists Peter LaBarbera and Matt Barber at the protest against the Southern Poverty Law Center, which Wooden condemned for its support of LGBT rights. Prior to the demonstration, Wooden appeared on LaBarbera’s radio show where he railed against gays and lesbians and claimed that gay men “have to wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels”:

Wooden: The God of the Bible made the human sperm, the God of the Bible designed it and it was not designed to be emptied into an area that is filled with feces, there is nothing for it to germinate with, it will most certainly mean the extinction of the human race. My belief is that if the medical community would just step forward and just would share with the American people what happens to the male anus, the problems that homosexuals have with their rectums, the damage that is done, the operations that are needed to sew up their bodies if you will, and how many of the men don’t even give these stitches time to heal before they are back out there practicing that wicked behavior. Some are bleeders, men who are not turned off by ingesting the feces of other men.

If the truth was told, people would literally gag and no one would want to be in a lifestyle like that. Who wants to practice anything that is going to ultimately lead a grown man to about the time he’s in his 40s or 50s, or what not, having to wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels?

He also told LaBarbera that homosexuality was “wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human” and that African Americans “ought to be appalled, ought to be angry” at gay rights advocates.

Wooden: It’s easy for African Americans when they’re not thinking, when they’re not thinking, to equate their beautiful blackness, their beautiful skin color, those of us who are darker than blue, it’s easy for us to equate given the history of the country our plight with those who want civil rights status based on who they have sex with, and it’s deviant, ungodly, unhealthy sex at that. I think that every African American ought to be appalled, ought to be angry, and should begin to wave their fist in the air and declare black power and say to the homosexual lobbyists, the homosexual groups, how dare you compare your wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human sexual behavior to our beautiful skin color.

But Wooden is no fringe figure, and is actually one of the major spokesmen for the campaign to pass an amendment to North Carolina’s constitution outlawing same-sex marriage.

Wooden was “the main speaker for the rally” organized by the conservative North Carolina Family Policy Council where he shared the stage with National Organization for Marriage president Brian Brown and Randy Wilson, the Family Research Council’s National Field Director. He also spoke at a press conference alongside Republican House Speaker Pro Tem Dale Folwell and Kevin Daniels of the right-wing Frederick Douglass Foundation in support of the bill, and Wooden is spearheading outreach to African American voters on behalf of Vote for Marriage NC, the umbrella group led by NOM, the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, NC Values Coalition and the Christian Action League.

So while the amendment’s proponents claim that their campaign “will focus on the unique common good that marriage provides to society,” they also bolster the message that gay men have to wear diapers (or a butt plug) because of “what happens to the male anus.”

While Protesting Southern Poverty Law Center, AFTAH Proves Why It's A 'Hate Group'

Today, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality’s Peter LaBarbera and Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber protested today outside of the headquarters of the Southern Poverty Law Center, along with other anti-gay activists, over the group’s “thinly-veiled, one-sided campaign to demonize adherents of traditional Judeo-Christian morality.” AFTAH, along with other anti-gay organizations, is incensed that the SPLC classified them as “anti-gay hate groups.”

One of the activists joining them was North Carolina pastor Patrick Wooden, one of the chief organizers for the North Carolina amendment to ban same-sex marriage. Not that the SPLC needed further proof of AFTAH’s demonization of gays and lesbians, but while appearing on LaBarbera’s radio show, Wooden told LaBarbera that homosexuality would “most certainly mean the extinction of the human race.” He claims that the medical community is suppressing the truth about the medical problems of homosexuals as it would make people “gag and no one would want to be in a lifestyle like that,” arguing that by the time gay mean reach their middle ages they “have to wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels” because of “what happens to the male anus.”

Wooden also said that black people must “declare black power” and fight against gays and lesbians who he says compare their “wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human sexual behavior to our beautiful skin color.”

Listen:

Speakers joining the GOP hopeful at the event include: Patrick Wooden The North Carolina preacher alleged... MORE >

Patrick Wooden, a favorite pastor of the National Organization for Marriage, spoke to anti-gay writer Michael Brown on Line of Fire Radio yesterday where he went after President Obama and the Democratic Party’s endorsement of marriage equality. While he shied away from his usual topics about how gay men need to wear diapers until their early death as a result of a life of shoving cellphones, baseball bats and animals up their anuses, Wooden argued that President Obama is contributing to the pain of the “decimated” black community by favoring marriage equality and is sending... This time around, Wooden and LaBarbera predicted that one today's young people grew up and had families, their support for marriage equality would fade because, down deep, nobody wants their children to grow up to be gay, not even parents who are gay themselves, and... It was Obama's citation of the Golden Rule in explaining his views that seemed particularly offensive to them, prompting Wooden to offer up a truly incoherent statement that "... When the interviewer told Peters he has heard... Once again, the National Organization for Marriage is promoting North Carolina pastor Patrick Wooden, who stars in a video meant to drum up support for the state’s discriminatory Amendment One. The North Carolina Traditional Values Coalition includes Wooden and other Religious Right activists in the video urging people to vote for Amendment One, which would ban same-sex marriage and civil unions in the state constitution, and Wooden maintains that there is “no bigotry” against gays and lesbians in their efforts: NOM likes to claim that they are not “anti-gay”... On last week’s edition of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality Radio Hour, a self-described “former homosexual” called for the arrest of author Dan Savage for his campaign to end suicide among LGBT youth, and today host Peter LaBarbera and guest Patrick Wooden reminisced about when violence against gay and transgender people was considered “normal.” Wooden, a North Carolina pastor and anti-gay activist with who has claimed that older gay men have to wear diapers after a lifetime of shoving a variety of objects and animals up their anuses, started the program... Wooden told LaBarbera that anal obsession is “the very basis of homosexuality” and he simply wants to tell gay men to... MORE >
