Glenn Beck is heading back to Iowa this weekend to do a series of rallies on behalf of Ted Cruz. Speaking of Cruz, we can add Gary Bauer and Larry Tomczak to the ever-growing list of anti-gay activists who have endorsed his presidential campaign. Oh, and Clint Howard. Disgraced Christian patriarchy leader Bill Gothard has a new ministry which has some interesting thoughts about slavery: "If all the slaves would have been trained how to follow these same disciplines of finding and meditating on daily Rhemas, God would have also given them the same prosperity and success.... Charles Koch claims he is bravely fighting injustice just like the abolitionists, suffragists and civil rights leaders. Bobby Jindal ended the state’s Medicaid contract with Louisiana’s two Planned Parenthood clinics “despite the fact that the two Planned Parenthood clinics in Louisiana do not provide abortion.” Gary Bauer, like Mat Staver, wonders what would happen if a city “declared itself a sanctuary city for traditional marriage, and refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples?” One BarbWire pundit explains that... Radical Religious Right activist Janet Porter has released yet another trailer for her upcoming documentary "Light Wins: How To Overcome The Criminalization Of Christianity," which features a who's who of anti-gay activists as well as several Republican members of Congress and presidential hopefuls Rand Paul and Mike Huckabee. "Like a tank in Tiananmen Square," Porter says, as she walks down the middle of a dark street as a pair of headlights bear down upon her, "the homosexual agenda has been running over people since Anita Bryant's courageous stand in the... On yesterday's episode of "The Hagee Hotline," Matthew Hagee interviewed Religious Right leader Gary Bauer about the Supreme Court's decision to take up the issue of marriage equality in the coming term, which Bauer pre-emptively dismissed by asserting that "there is nothing in the Constitution of the United States that says that same-sex marriage is the law of the land." Similarly, Bauer said, there is nothing in the Constitution that says that abortion should be legal or that public schools cannot open the day with mandatory prayer and Bible reading ... and... Anyone who is familiar with Gary Bauer's anti-gay extremism will not be surprised to learn that his bigotry goes way back. Just in time for World AIDS Day, we now know that when Bauer was working in the Reagan White House, he fought hard to keep gay people off the nation’s first AIDS commission. A June 30, 1987, memo from Bauer to President Reagan was unearthed by a Freedom of Information Act request filed by the law firm of McDermott, Will & Emory and the Mattachine Society of Washington, D.C. The memo, which appears in the December 1 issue of Harper’... MORE >
Gary Bauer: Obama 'More Interested In Defending The Reputation Of Islam' Than 'Saving The Lives Of Christians'

Gary Bauer’s speech to the Values Voter Summit today was a parade of anti-Muslim rhetoric — fitting for a conference on protecting “religious liberty”— that led up to him accusing President Obama of being “more interested in defending the reputation of Islam than he [is] in saving the lives of Christians.” “Obama and his allies do everything they can to rip out of our society all the vestiges that made this Judeo-Christian civilization” which “liberal elites can’t stand,” he declared. If the next Republican presidential... MORE >

This weekend, Republican elected officials including Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Rand Paul, and Gov. Bobby Jindal will take part in what has become an annual ritual for potential GOP presidential contenders: they will seek to curry the favor of the Religious Right by speaking at the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit. In doing so, they put themselves in the company of some of the most radical groups and activists working today to dehumanize LGBT people, roll back reproductive rights, tear down the wall between church and state, and deny free exercise rights to religious minorities.... For right-wing advocates, big conservative wins in the Supreme Court’s recently completed term have only confirmed the importance of electing a president in 2016 who will give them more justices in the mold of Samuel Alito and John Roberts. The Roberts and Alito nominations, and the conservative majority created by their confirmations, represent the triumph of a decades-long push by right-wing funders, big business, conservative political strategists, and legal groups to take ideological dominion of all levels of the federal judiciary. Right-wing groups have long made attacks on... MORE >
