Right Wing Leftovers

  • Is the Southern Baptist Convention going to change its name?
  • The AFA is now urging people to boycott the AARP.
  • Pat Boone is a birther.
  • Bryan Fischer says President Obama's jobs plan is class warfare and that it is "a dangerous, un-Christian and un-American path he is walking, one destined to end in social unrest driven by a mindless contempt for hard-working Americans who have earned everything they have."
  • Apparently Ray Comfort has a magical question that can, through sheer logic alone, turn anyone against abortion.
  • It seems like James Robison has some big plans that are very serious - I have no idea what exactly they are, but he needs money.

Right Wing Round-Up

Right Wing Leftovers

  • FRC calls on the Pentagon to postpone the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
  • I have no idea why the AFA is warning that "a horrific global water crisis is coming," but they are.
  • Shockingly, Bill O'Reilly is a massive egomaniac.
  • Tom Tancredo goes after the Southern Poverty Law Center.
  • Right-wing anti-government activist Hal Turner was found not guilty of threatening federal officials.
  • Finally, Focus on the Family has been forced to lay off yet more employees.

Right Wing Round-Up

Right Wing Leftovers

  • Fortunately for CAIR, Newt Gingrich will never be president.
  • Looks like John Boehner is getting his own Tea Party/Randall Terry acolyte primary challenger.
  • It is always amusing to watch people try to explain and/or defend the things Pat Robertson says.
  • Richard Viguerie has produced a pamphlet explaining that "government is the oldest, largest and most pervasive lawbreaker in America." Sounds fascinating.
  • Finally, Frank Pavone says that if he diocese won't let him pursue his anti-choice activism full time, he may have to transfer to a different one or found "a new religious order for priests seeking to be involved in full-time pro-life work."

Right Wing Round-Up

Right Wing Leftovers

  • Apparently the National Religious Broadcasters is releasing a report about how companies and the internet are censoring Christians.
  • The fact that Mat Staver's lawsuit against healthcare reform was tossed out of court is apparently evidence that healthcare reform's days are numbered.
  • On a related note, Liberty Counsel has produced a new video explaining just how important it is.
  • The Oregon state Republican Party may have removed some anti-gay language, but that  doesn't mean much.
  • Shockingly, FRC's Peter Sprigg opposes gay characters in "Archie" comics.
  • Finally, quote of the day from FRC's latest prayer update: "Father, restrain protesters in each of these cities. May all their plans be exposed and fail! Give those in authority safety and wisdom to do their jobs. Cause the news media accurately to report the events. Please prevent all efforts by anti-American ideologues to influence the 2012 elections as ACORN and others did in 2008. Please advance patriotic, God-fearing candidates for public office and help them to defeat those who foster socialism, anarchy and immorality."

Right Wing Round-Up

Right Wing Leftovers

  • Focus on the Family and New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms do not appear to approve of our efforts to get New York town clerks to do their job.
  • Speaking of Focus, for all of the organization's talk of seeking common ground on the issue of abortion, The Colorado Springs Gazette is unable to find evidence that there has been any outreach.
  • Operation Rescue stands by Priests For Life.
  • Herman Cain has been confirmed for the Values Voter Summit.
  • Finally, is anyone surprised to find that WND is now publishing Bryan Fischer's bigoted columns?

Right Wing Round-Up

Right Wing Leftovers

  • How long before the GOP gives Oregon Republicans the boot for removing anti-gay language for their platform?
  • Rick Perry will be speaking at Liberty University tomorrow.
  • Mat Staver has been appointed to something called The Commission on Accountability and Policy for Religious Organizations.
  • Apparently the Hubble Telescope discovered proof of God.
  • Finally, quote of the day from Bryan Fischer: "This is not behavior that any rational society should condone, endorse, subsidize, reward, promote or sanction in domestic policy or in the marketplace. It’s a choice, and a bad one at that. It’s long past time for our culture to say a simple and direct 'No' to homosexuality and the homosexual agenda."

Right Wing Round-Up

Right Wing Leftovers

  • Tim Pawlenty endorses Mitt Romney while Bobby Jindal is set to endorse Rick Perry.
  • Hey, what do you know?  The Religious Right is mobilizing pastors to get active in the 2012 elections.
  • On a related note, a coalition of anti-choice groups are mobilizing to register voters.
  • James Dobson suffered several broken bones in a horse-riding accident.
  • The man charged with helping Lisa Miller to flee the country wants his statements quashed and his trial moved out of Vermont.

Right Wing Round-Up

Right Wing Leftovers

  • Bradlee Dean is apparently under the impression that President Obama cares what he thinks.
  • I suspect that the fact that Rick Joyner used to own a charter jet company probably has a lot to do with this defense of corporate jets.
  • Hey, Bryan Fischer still hates Muslims.
  • FRC says that "until the crisis within the family is reversed, America's economic slowdown is only going to increase."
  • NOM says it has launched a $75,000 independent expenditure campaign in the race to replace Anthony Weiner in New York's Congressional District 9."
  • Finally, I honestly don't know what to make of this quote from Richard Land that a Rick Perry-Barack Obama race would place the "whippet-thin, fastidious, ultra-urbane, somehow-detached Siamese cat that is Barack Obama versus the muscular Marlboro man Rottweiler that is Rick Perry."

Right Wing Round-Up

Right Wing Leftovers

  • Rick Perry says the Ten Commandments are "good policy and at the end of the day ... probably good politics."
  • It looks like Janet Porter's Heartbeat Bill is heading to Kansas.
  • The folks at Personhood Mississippi who are seeking out outlaw abortion insist that "obviously ... we're not taking away any rights."
  • Bryan Fischer has re-worked his "Muslims are using 9/11 to celebrate" column in light of the fact that he completely got the day wrong.
  • Finally, the Liberty Counsel's lawsuit against healthcare reform lost in court, but LC vows to appeal because the "ruling goes against every court in America that considered this case."

Rush Limbaugh really ought to do some basic research before accusing President Obama of targeting Christians.   And WND, of course, gives Limbaugh a run for his money.   Mike Huckabee sure does like joking about voter suppression.   Harry Jackson continues his shameless shilling for energy interests.   Bryan Fischer credits Rick Perry for "not throwing Robert Jeffress under the bus" and predicts that he will be the GOP nominee.   Finally, imagine there's no pizza. The Los Angeles Times profiles the International House of Prayer.   Bryan Fischer says "our next president must understand that the more devout a Muslim becomes ... the more of a threat he becomes to the national security of the United States."   FRC defends the Protect Life Act, saying it simply "ensures that Americans who want health care insurance with abortion coverage or supplemental abortion coverage can purchase it, but not with federal dollars."   Richard Land is demanding the Pentagon reverse the policy of allowing... Bill Dononhue says that if Rick Perry doesn’t denounce Robert Jeffress by the end of the week “his campaign will be in serious trouble.” Meanwhile, Jeffress falsely claims “that there has never been a church in American history that has ever lost its tax-exempt status,” while the not self-aware pastor attacks Barry Lynn for seeking “publicity.” WorldNetDaily’s Jane Chastain can only dream that President Obama will tell the Occupy Wall Street protest, “You have disgraced yourself by your public displays of indecency.... Robert Jeffress appeared on The Alan Colmes Show last night to explain his inflammatory statements about Catholicism, Mormonism and other non-Protestant religions. During the interview, Colmes asked Jeffress, who has said that Christian voters should vote for Rick Perry over his Mormon opponent Mitt Romney, about his view that the Roman Catholic faith represents “the genius of Satan” and that the Mormon religion is a “cult” that is “from the pit of Hell.” Jeffress appeared to deny his past statements about Catholicism and Mormonism, but defended the content... Washington Times columnist Marybeth Hicks appeared on Eagle Forum Live on Tuesday to promote her new book Don't Let the Kids Drink the Kool-Aid: Confronting the Left's Assault on Our Families, Faith, and Freedom, which is about how progressives are using media and schools to literally “brainwash our kids.” Speaking with host Bill Borst, Hicks criticized the media and the show “Glee” for supposedly negatively portraying Christians. But Hicks reserved her harshest attacks for “Family Guy” and its creator Seth MacFarlane. Hicks said that MacFarlane, a People... MORE
