Inspired by the success of Dan Savage’s “It Gets Better” project, a few weeks ago John Shore and Truth Wins Out launched the Not All Like That (NALT) Christians Project, which is designed to “give LGBT-affirming Christians a means of proclaiming to the world—and especially to young gay people—their belief and conviction that there is nothing anti-biblical or at all inherently sinful about being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.”
Given that mission, it comes as no surprise that Matt Barber and Peter LaBarbera, who are exactly the sort of people that participants in NALT are proclaiming that not all Christians are like, are unhappy about the project, with Barber declaring that he won’t stand for being lectured to about Christianity by someone like Savage, who is “one of the most hateful and vile human beings on the planet.”
“This is comical,” Barber said. “This is laughable. To have vile, anti-Christian bigots who are pushing a radical, dangerous sexual anarchist agenda presuming to lecture Christians and have people – self-identified Christians, liberal so-called Christians – upload videos about how they support something that God calls an abomination, there’s no other word for it, it’s apostasy when you have self-described Christians do it. It is par for the course when you have those who hate God, people like Dan Savage doing it”:
