Right-wing radio host Michael Savage has emerged as one of Donald Trump’s biggest fans, taking credit for the GOP frontrunner’s anti-immigrant rhetoric and hoping that a President Trump would choose to “rule by decree.”
So it was no surprise that Savage told Trump during an interview yesterday that he is “the lion that we have been waiting for, you’re the Winston Churchill of our time.”
Savage also spent time talking with Trump about the bogus issue of voter fraud by undocumented immigrants, with Trump pledging to combat voter fraud as president.
“They want to take away cards, they want to take away identification, I assume that means somebody could vote 10 times,” Trump said. “I mean, who the hell is going to know the difference, it’s incredible. It’s incredible to me that people can fight it, where do these people come from?” Contrary to Trump’s warnings, a study last year found that there had been only 31 credible incidents of voter impersonation fraud out of the one billion ballots cast since the turn of the century, none of which were reported to be tied to undocumented immigrants.
Trump and Savage also agreed that the U.S. should model its immigration policies on those in Mexico.
