For those of you who had better things to do with your time then spend seven hours on a Saturday watching the extended Christian Rock-jam session that was Gov. Rick Perry's "The Response" rally, we put together a short video featuring the appearances by all of your favorite Religious Right and elected leaders, including Perry, David Barton, Tony Perkins, Penny Nance, Gov. Rick Scott, Gov. Sam Brownback, Jim Garlow, John Hagee and finally even a quick shot of Perry giving some love to Don Wildmon of the AFA, the founder of the SPLC-designated hate group which footed the bill for... Among the most remarkable sections of the long email sent to participants in advance of this weekend’s The Response event suggesting thoughts for contemplation and preparation was this section on lying: Jesus tells us that all lies come from the devil (John 8:44). Lies come in many variations. Oftentimes people use truth to perpetrate lies. For instance, when only part of the truth is told to make the hearer believe something other than what is actually true, it is a deception, a lie. Satan used this method in his temptations of Jesus. Lying in all its forms is the work of the... MORE

Before last year's Values Voter Summit, we made a concerted effort to hold organizers and participants accountable for willingly sharing the stage with Bryan Fischer, the Religious Right's most unapologetic bigot. Fischer was a featured speaker at the event, just as he had been the year before, and we called upon Republican leaders like Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann who were scheduled to speak alongside of Fischer at the event to take a stand about Fischer's relentless bigotry. Needless to say, they refused to do any such thing and Fischer was given twenty minutes to spew... MORE

The Response, a day of prayer and fasting called by Texas Gov. Rick Perry and hosted by the American Family Association, will take place at Houston’s Reliant Stadium this Saturday. Perry has tried to deflect criticism of his sponsorship of this religiously exclusionary event by claiming (unconvincingly) that it is meant to be unifying and apolitical, even though it is sponsored by a dizzying array of divisive, bigotry-promoting individuals and groups, including those encouraging him to enter the presidential race. It is true that participants recently received instructions... MORE

Listen to this clip from the AFA radio program "Today's Issues" the other day in which Tony Perkins and Ken Blackwell, both of the Family Research Council, complain that people are calling the Tea Party activists "terrorists": Perkins: You have the comments being made by the Vice President of the United States ... and he's equating conservative members of Congress who are identified with the Tea Party as being terrorists and holding the nation hostage. Blackwell: Well, that is just consistent with the strategy of define and destroy that the Left, headed up by the... MORE

Bryan Fischer can't seem to decide whether he loves Right Wing Watch or hates us. One day he is praising us for helping him to spread his message but then starts complaining that we are cyberstalking and waging jihad against him. And nothing better demonstrates Fischer's schizophrenia regarding RWW than his statement today where he again accused us of cyberstalking him while simultaneously thanking us for posting clips that feature "exactly the soundbite that I want them to use": Fischer has already made clear that he stands behind everything he writes or says, so...
