Tim Pawlenty Wants You To Know That He Is A Christian

Tim Pawlenty's presidential campaign has released a six-minute video dedicated entirely to Pawlenty and his wife Mary talking about the importance of their Christian faith, criticizing the separation of church and state, and highlighting their opposition to abortion and marriage equality:

Engle's Youth Group Claims God Is About To Punish America For Legal Abortion

After Lou Engle claimed that the devastating tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri was God’s punishment for legal abortion, Engle’s youth group Bound4Life now says that God is getting ready to punish America for reproductive freedom. Bound4Life is based in JHOP, the International House of Prayer’s Washington D.C. affiliate, and seeks to end “the holocaust of abortion” through spiritual warfare. Bound4Life’s Susan Tyrrell writes that judges who defend abortion rights will compel God to punish America:

Make no mistake, God will hold accountable those who rule with tyranny without fearing Him—they are those who take power into their own hands, and pound it with their gavel as if they are representing a people instead of a few.

Tyranny, you say? Indeed. Tyranny is defined as “arbitrary or unrestrained exercise of power; despotic abuse of authority.” To be a lone twister of justice of a law that’s gone through the proper channels of government and bow the knee to the evil entities that drive the abortion industry is perhaps one of the best visuals for tyranny that exists in modern day America.

Often we think because there is no immediate consequence, on a people or a nation, God has somehow closed His eyes, but in actuality what we are seeing from the throne room of heaven is a great outpouring of mercy; however, the Bible is clear that mercy will end:

Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. (Ecc. 8:11)

Clearly, the sentence is coming—this window is the nation’s opportunity for repentance, not a condoning of our national sin or excuse of our national culpability.

Abortion has caused us to acquiesce our justice system, but it’s not too late. It’s time to stand up for those who can’t (proverbs 31:8) and defend the unborn. If we don’t fight for justice in the courtroom of heaven, we will continue to lose our battles in the courtroom of earth, opening the path wider to the coming judgment for sucking life from 54 million innocent babies in the womb.

Rick Perry and Friends: Meet The Supporters Of The Response Prayer Rally

Inspired by the massive amount of video and other materials we are turning up in examining the extremists with whom Gov. Rick Perry is partnering with in promoting his upcoming "The Response" prayer rally, we decided to put together a little video to highlight just who these people are.

The video consists of the invitation Gov. Perry recorded asking people to attend his rally interspersed with footage of event endorsers, organizers, and sponsors - including Bryan Fischer saying gays should be banned from public office, Cindy Jacobs saying God was going to move unrighteous leaders out of government, Mike Bickle saying Oprah is a forerunner to the Antichrist, Jim Garlow saying the gay rights movement is driven by an "Antichrist spirit," John Hagee saying God sent Hitler as a hunter to force the Jews to move to Israel, David Barton saying God is not going to tolerate those who don't vote against issues like gay marriage or abortion, Stephen Broden saying the use of violence must always remain on the table, and finally Fischer again saying liberals hate God:

There were also several other clips that we just couldn't work into this short video, like Cindy Jacobs saying birds were dying because of the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't tell, Jim Garlow saying African Americans were saving the nation from the "bondage and enslavement" of gay marriage, David Barton saying Jesus opposed the minimum wage, Peter Wagner saying Japan is cursed because the Emperor had sex with a demon spirit, Buddy Smith saying gays are "in the clasp of Satan," or any of the littany of bigoted statements uttered by Bryan Fischer over the past year.

Maddow Helps Expose Rick Perry's Radical Ties

On Friday, Rachel Maddow looked into the extreme political activists and pastors that Texas Governor Rick Perry is working with to put on his The Response prayer rally. In the segment, Maddow discusses Mike Bickle, the founder and executive director of the International House of Prayer and an endorser of The Response. Maddow cites research from Right Wing Watch on Bickle and his claim that Oprah Winfrey is the precursor to the Antichrist. Bickle’s IHOP ministry is closely involved in organizing Perry’s prayer rally, modeling it after the IHOP-linked The Call prayer rally which preaches the use of spiritual warfare against legalized abortion and gay rights.

Right-Wing Columnist Claims Marriage Equality Will Lead To Gulags

Jeff Mirus of Trinity Communications believes that marriage equality will criminalize Christianity, leading to a totalitarian state and a new gulag archipelago. Far from the first Religious Right activist to suggest that equal rights for gays and lesbians will cause liberty to founder, Mirus, discussing the case of a Mexican priest who was fined for propagandizing against a political party that supports marriage equality, argues that “gay marriage is the perfect totalitarian wedge.” He adds, “gay marriage is the lie that will create the next Gulag”:

In a Mexican case, Fr. Hugo Valdemar was found guilty on July 1st of illegal political activity because he stated that Catholics should not vote for candidates who support same-sex marriage. Fr. Valdemar’s defense is that he wasn’t speaking against a particular party but was merely stating the teaching of the Catholic Church. But the particulars of charge and counter-charge do not make a great deal of difference, apart from the strategies they suggest for legal maneuvering. There have been many similar stories over the past few years from around the world, especially in Canada and Europe. The writing is on the wall. Gay marriage is the lie that will create the next Gulag.

Indeed, gay marriage is the perfect totalitarian wedge, not least in a country like the United States, which has been capable of believing itself uniquely dedicated to liberty even in the midst of slavery and abortion. We Americans, it seems, will be quite willing to sing the praises of our liberty no matter how many of us lose it. It is our national myth, something we worship. But the cause of gay marriage fits the myth better than most issues because it really does seem that those who oppose it are denying life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to others. This denial can be accepted for the unborn, in the name of the liberty of their mothers, as it once was accepted for African Americans, who shared judicial non-personhood with the unborn. But gays are well-educated, wealthy and—above all—a logically favored projection of our moral culture. To inhibit their happiness, for any reason, seems just plain wrong.

Why should this be? First, it is necessary to note that the word “gay” refers not to those with homosexual inclinations but to those who champion behavior based on these inclinations as good. In fact, homosexuals who are not gay are a sign of contradiction to the gay world. They are scorned accordingly, in ways that even straights are not. The key to understanding the whole matter is that to be gay or to support the gay lifestyle is to approve and promote sterile sex.

No group is more hateful to modern society than the perceived moralistic prigs who, out of what most perceive as religiously-motivated prejudice, seek to diminish the personal sexual liberty of others. Nothing could be more obvious in our current culture than that such people must be silenced and, if necessary, restrained. Moreover, it seems only right and just that their denunciation of the gay lifestyle and their opposition to gay marriage should be criminalized. In fact, it should be criminalized in the name of liberty. That is why gay marriage is the lie that will create the next Gulag.

Right-Wing Columnist Wants Catholic Democratic Politicians Excommunicated

Gerard Nadal, a columnist for the anti-choice and anti-gay website Life Site News, is infuriated that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, a Catholic, signed a marriage equality bill into law. He calls on Roman Catholic bishops to get tough on the “sins of the Ted Kennedys, Andrew Cuomos and Nancy Pelosis” and all “Catholic pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage politicians,” insisting that they be refused communion and eventually excommunicated. Nadal believes that only religious pressure can compel a progressive politician to “undo their grave injustices” of supporting reproductive rights and marriage equality:

The sins of the Ted Kennedys, Andrew Cuomos and Nancy Pelosis are so vast, so deeply rooted, and entirely the fabric of the Democrat Party, that any confession by these people needs to have a public recanting of their deeds and concrete evidence of an action plan to undo them as the penance. If the politician is unwilling to work within the political system to undo their grave injustices and work toward a restoration of justice under law, then they are not contrite.

We have run out the rope on the excuse by so many bishops that we don’t know the private state of their souls. That simply strains credulity. If the politicians remain the same week after week, month after month, year after year, then as we say in Brooklyn, that’s a clue.

It’s a clue to their impenitence, and it is a sin against charity to confirm them in their impenitence by allowing them to eat and drink condemnation upon themselves, as Saint Paul put it.

As I’ve said before on this blog, if the fight was “too political” for the bishops in the past, the threat is now existential going into the future. The faithful are enraged over this law, and the bishops have a once-in-a-generation opportunity here to publicly call upon Catholic pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage politicians to publicly repent or face severe sanctions, beginning with being barred from the Eucharist, and leading to excommunication. There is a small window of opportunity here to reclaim the leadership most have eschewed for far too long.

For great good, or great evil, this is an historical moment for the United States Bishops in general, and New York’s bishops in particular. This is the great moment where the bishops can define what it means to be a Catholic in terms of sacramentality, and how to be a Catholic in the public square. This is the time for a muscular response. The faithful will back them to the hilt.

Engle: Joplin Tornado Was God's Judgment For Abortion

Preaching last month at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri Lou Engle declared that the massive tornado that had devestated Joplin, MO in May and killed more than one hundred people was "a sign that God's redemptive judgment" was falling upon America for the sin of abortion:

You should actually watch this whole thing because Engle goes on to relate a series of dreams about how President Obama is being called to bring an end to abortion as he praises Gov. Sam Brownback for taking steps to make it impossible to ever obtain on in Kansas:

Rick Perry Partners With Radical Apostle C. Peter Wagner For The Response Prayer Rally

Governor Rick Perry’s The Response prayer rally already has support from self-proclaimed prophets and apostles like Cindy Jacobs, Mike Bickle, Che Ahn, Doug Stringer, John Benefiel, and Jay Swallow, and now we can add one of the most prominent leaders of the New Apostolic Reformation to the list of endorses: C. Peter Wagner.

Not only is Wagner one the founders of the International Council of Apostles, but he is also a chief advocate of Seven Mountains Dominionism, which holds that fundamentalist Christians should have control over all aspects of society, and a foremost proponent of ‘Spiritual Warfare.’ Wagner’s wife, Doris, is also an endorser of The Response. She is author of How To Minister Freedom, a collection of works that includes chapters on “Freedom From Homosexual Confusion,” “Freedom from Abortion’s Aftermath,” and “The Believers Authority over Demonic Spirits.”

Following the deadly earthquake in Japan earlier this year, Peter Wagner argued that the disaster was punishment from God because Japan “invited national demonization” and the pagan Sun Goddess had “sexual intercourse with the Emperor” of Japan. He similarly blamed Japan’s economic problems on the Emperor’s supernatural sex life: “Since the night that the present emperor slept with the sun Goddess, the stock market in Japan has gone down - never come up since.”

In his book, Hard-Core Idolatry-Facing the Facts, Wagner praised the burning of Roman Catholic, Mormon, Native American, and other non-Protestant religious objects: “The leaders explained how important it would be to do spiritual housecleaning in their homes before they came to the meeting. They began mentioning the kinds of material things that might be bringing honor to the spirits of darkness; pictures, statues, Catholic saints, Books of Mormon, pictures of former lovers, pornographic material, fetishes, drugs, Ouija boards, zodiac charms, good luck symbols, crystals for healing, amulets, talismans, tarot cards, witch dolls, voodoo items, love potions, books of magic, totem poles, certain pieces of jewelry, objects of Freemasonry, horoscopes gargoyles, native art, foreign souvenirs, and what have you.”

But in Rick Perry’s Christians-only, proselytizing prayer rally, endorsements from extremists like Wagner should come as no surprise as the Religious Right continue their embrace of Dominionism and the New Apostolic Reformation.

Repentance For Homosexuality At 8:18 Prayer Rally Exposed Eddie Long?

Last year, a variety of African America Religious Right activists like Harry Jackson and Alveda King partnered with Lou Engle and his acolytes for an event called "8:18" in Atlanta that aimed to free the black community from the "weight of the spiritual and moral bankruptcy that has manifested in the leadership of the church."

The primary focus was the issue of abortion, but event organizers Will Ford and Dehavilland Brown recently appeared on Cindy Jacobs' "God Knows" television program were they explained that they also repented for immorality in the pulpit and homosexuality at the event ... and so it was no conicidence that shortly thereafter, Bishop Eddie Long was hit with a lawsuit alleging he had coerced young men into having sex with him:

Anti-Choice Groups Urge FDA To Place Graphic Warning Labels On Emergency Contraceptives

A coalition of groups opposed to abortion rights wants the government to place graphic warning labels on emergency contraceptives and abortion clinics in the same way cigarette packs are now required to display explicit images. Disregarding the fact that abortion is an exceptionally safe medical procedure, a spokesman for the campaign said, “If you’re going to force cigarette manufacturers to put graphic images on every single pack of cigarettes, you should do the same thing with abortion.” In fact, a number of states already force doctors to read false statements that abortion causes breast cancer and other ailments. In a petition-drive launched by organizations including The Radiance Foundation (best known for placing billboards that refer to legal abortion as “black genocide”), Operation Rescue, Pro-Life Nation, and Students for Life, the coalition urges the government to impose labels to shame women:

The FDA recently announced new restrictions on cigarette packages, forcing manufacturers to feature prominent graphic images on the front of every cigarette package to warn smokers of harmful effects that smoking can have on their health and those around them.

When picking up their cigarette packages, smokers will see pictures of a man blowing smoke out of a hole in his neck, a smoker’s mouth riddled with cancer, a baby under a cloud of smoke, and a deceased man, among other colored graphics.

This marks the biggest change in cigarette package warnings in over a quarter of a century and notes the shift in American public opinion about smoking. Smoking has become passe.

Yet, what about abortion?

Where are the warning labels on abortion?

Where are the warnings to tell women that abortion will kill their child and scar them for life?

Sign your name to this petition to tell the FDA that all abortion facilities and abortion-causing drugs should come with graphic warning labels - showing women what an abortion really does.

Janet Porter's Heartbeat Bill Passes Ohio State House

The Ohio State House finally voted on and passed Janet Porter’s “Heartbeat bill,” which would criminalize abortion in most cases. Conspicuously absent was a statement from the state’s leading anti-choice group, the Ohio Right to Life Society, which actually opposed the bill because it is blatantly unconstitutional. Now Porter’s prized legislation moves on to the Senate, and her group Faith2Action released a congratulatory statement:

“For every battle weary pro-lifer who didn't see how children were going to be protected in our lifetime, come see what God is doing in Ohio. Protection for babies with beating hearts is within reach for the first time since Roe stripped their rights away. I have never been more hopeful for restoring protection to babies with beating hearts than I am right now,” declared Janet (Folger) Porter, president of Ohio-based Faith2Action and a former legislative director for Ohio Right to Life.

In meetings with bill supporters, several of the state senators have expressed interest in serving as a sponsor or co-sponsor for the bill.

The bill was backed by a number of national Republican figures including presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich, and Porter even had two fetuses “testify” in favor of the bill.

Barber: Christians Outlawed Slavery While The Left Was Like Hitler

On today's installment of Liberty Counsel's "Faith and Freedom Radio" program, Matt Barber praised the "Too Many Aborted" campaign, the latest installment in the right-wing campaign to outlaw abortion by linking it to so-called "Black Genocide."

As Barber explained, it was Christians and Republicans who outlawed slavery while the Left was aligned with eugenicists like Adolf Hitler. He also predicted that it was just a matter of time before Roe v Wade is overturned and that, as that day approaches, supporters of reproductive rights would grow violent:

As Sure As The Religious Right Reacts, They Overreact

When NBC cut the phrase "under God" for the Pledge of Allegiance during its coverage of the US Open golf tournament last weekend, it was obvious that the Religious Right would seize on it ... and that is exactly what they did.

And it was equally obvious that, in reacting to this incident, they would also wildly overreact ... which exactly what they are doing now, with the Family Research Council now demanding "the network play a public service announcement featuring the Pledge of Allegiance, in its entirety, daily" and produce an entire program to explaining why "under God" was added to the Pledge:

"NBC must remedy this abuse by airing a series of public service announcement(s) with the entire Pledge of Allegiance," read an e-mail blast sent Tuesday from council President Tony Perkins.

"Please join me in contacting NBC and demanding that the network air a daily public service announcement with the entire Pledge of Allegiance."

The Washington-based Family Research Council says its mission is to advance "faith, family and freedom in public policy and public opinion." The group is best known for its strong objections to same-sex marriage and abortion. It's a powerful political force among conservative evangelicals.

"This is something that people, they get and they're upset about it," Perkins told CNN. "We know that 15,000 people have already sent e-mails to NBC. Based on the calls I got this morning, this is something people are incensed over."

Perkins said he did not watch the event live. He said he is not a big golf fan but was alerted to the omission quickly. He said he found the use of military images with the pledge omission particularly galling. "As a veteran I stood for the pledge and I stood for all of the pledge," the retired Marine said.

"These types of things need to be met with significant resistance," he said when asked if his group was leveraging this controversy for its own gain. "It's not up to NBC to change the pledge of the United States of America."

...

Perkins said in addition to the public service announcement of a daily Pledge of Allegiance he said he would also like to see NBC produce a program explaining the history of the pledge and why "under God" was inserted in the first place.

New Anti-Choice Film Fantasizes About Black Terrorists Murdering Abortion Doctors

WorldNetDaily’s Molotov Mitchell is the executive producer of a new film about a future where abortion is outlawed after black terrorists systematically murder abortion doctors. Mitchell is one of the many abortion rights opponents who have embraced the notion of “abortion as black genocide.” This claim, propagated by films like Maafa 21 and numerous billboard campaigns, holds that abortion clinics are attempting to exterminate African Americans. The film is styled as a documentary from 2016 about how in 2014, a Black terrorist group called “Zulu 9” and its members, who have names like “Pinky,” attack abortion clinics and murder abortion doctors. Mitchell, who is white, recently defended the film, saying it “casts a cinematic vision of what a post-abortion America could look like.”

New Anti-Abortion Billboards Offensive to All

Earlier this week, the National Black ProLife Coalition, in conjunction with TooManyAborted.com, announced the launch of another anti-choice billboard campaign in Atlanta and other major metropolitan areas. These billboards are designed to offend, featuring slogans such as “The 13th Amendment Freed-Abortion Enslaves” and “Abortion Makes Three-Fifths Human Seem Overly Generous.”

According to the press release, these billboards are supposed to show “how Roe v. Wade has made a mockery of Civil Rights history by offering destruction and bondage instead of possibility and freedom,” but in reality they just show the insensitivity of some pro-life organizations. Timed to coincide with Juneteenth, a day celebrating the abolition of slavery, one billboard company refused to display the images, though another eventually accepted.

Janet Porter saved the big guns for last when she organized her Heartbeat Bill rally last week.  After speakers were done comparing supporters of the effort to Moses and likening women's health centers to concentration camps, Dutch Sheets and Lou Engle took to the podium to beseech God to pass this legislation.  While Sheets asked God to give no rest and no peace to Ohio senators until they agree to pass the bill and "end this curse in America," Engle screamed out, calling upon God to break the demonic spiritual powers over the Senate so that Senators will receive dreams...
