Last month, Operation Rescue’s Troy Newman was one of a number of anti-choice activists to sign onto a letter questioning the strength of the anti-abortion records of a number of people on President-elect Donald Trump’s shortlist of potential nominees to the Supreme Court.
It turns out that Newman has a specific alternative in mind. Yesterday, Operation Rescue circulated a petition urging Trump to nominate Roy Moore, the recently suspended chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, to the high court.
“We believe that the most important qualities in a justice are that they value life, the sanctity of marriage, and the defense of the family,” the petition declares, “and no judge in our nation is more outspoken and committed to these issues than Judge Roy Moore.”
Moore was suspended from his post on the Alabama court last year after trying to defy federal court decisions on marriage equality. He similarly lost his seat on the court in 2003 after he refused to comply with a court order to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the state judicial building. During his second round on the court, Moore supported his colleague Justice Tom Parker’s efforts to lay a legal foundation for recriminalizing abortion through establishing fetal “personhood.”
In an email promoting the petition, Newman wrote:
The pro-Planned Parenthood, pro-abortion radicals don’t want a pro-life, conservative justice deciding the course of history for the next few decades in our nation, so they’re trying to force Donald Trump to nominate a middle-of-the-road Republican for the Supreme Court.
But if we’re going to outlaw late-term abortions and save the unborn from the brutal hands of abortion murderers, we must take this opportunity ensure Donald Trump nominates the most pro-life, outspoken, conservative judge in the nation.
That man is Judge Roy Moore, and I need your immediate signature on the National Petition to Nominate Judge Roy Moore to the U.S. Supreme Court if we’re going to save the unborn and ultimately outlaw late-term abortions in our nation.
In his fight to protect the sanctity of marriage, the liberal radicals attempted to have him removed from the Alabama Supreme Court just last year.This devout man of faith has fought his entire career for Christian values, which is why he’s been the target of the Democrats for so many years.Judge Roy Moore has proven time and again that he will stand up for pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-family conservative values, and that he isn’t afraid to upset the liberals.
More than a decade ago he was removed as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court because he wouldn’t cow-tow to the demands of liberal Democrats who wanted him to remove a Ten Commandments monument.
And he’s been a vocal advocate for life and spoken freely about the dangers of a society where abortion isn’t considered murder. This man is exactly who we need on the Supreme Court!
Newman goes on to boast of Operation Rescue’s work uncovering “the truth about Planned Parenthood’s cash for baby body parts criminal empire,” a reference to his role in David Daleiden’s Center for Medical Progress, saying that as a result “there are sure to be many cases focused on life that reach the Supreme Court”:
The next Supreme Court justice will be on the bench for the next twenty, thirty, or even forty years.
With all of the work we’ve been doing at Operation Rescue to expose the liberal abortion lobby and uncover the truth about Planned Parenthood’s cash for baby body parts criminal empire, there are sure to be many cases focused on life that reach the Supreme Court.
The truth is, the abortion lobby is a money-making business.
They murder more than 2,600 babies a day, get more than $1.5 billion in taxpayer funding, and scam you and me out of the taxes we’ve paid by milking Medicaid and Medicare.
We must ensure Roy Moore is the next Supreme Court justice so he can help us fight for life and end the billions of dollars the murdering doctors in the abortion industry make by killing innocent babies.
We’re doing everything we can on a grassroots level, and we worked hard last year to ensure that pro-life leaders were elected across the country.
But if we’re going to win the ultimate fight for life, we need to have the most pro-life judge in the nation nominated for the Supreme Court.
The liberals are campaigning for Donald Trump to nominate some middle-of-the-road judge, but you and I must ensure he nominates the only judge in America who will stand up and fight for life, marriage, and family values the way you and I would.
