Klingenschmitt Promotes Debunked Claim To Warn That ‘Disarming Veterans Is A Form Of National Suicide’

Last year, a conservative blogger riled-up a bunch of folks on the Right by claiming that the Department of Veterans Affairs was unilaterally declaring some veterans to be mentally incompetent and thereby prohibiting them from buying or possessing guns.

The claim was so baseless that none other than Twitchy quickly debunked it but, amazingly, well over a year later, Gordon Klingenschmitt reported the original story as entirely true on his “Pray In Jesus Name” program this week, declaring that efforts to disarm veterans amounts to “national suicide.”

“What is the Second Amendment designed to protect,” Klingenschmitt asked, “but American national security. And if troops who are retired or no longer in the active duty military, they go home and they’re disarmed, then America will be defenseless.”

We are not quite sure how disarming mentally incompetent veterans would leave America “defenseless” considering that America would still have, you know, the strongest military in the world.
