Right-Wing Pundit Calls for Sessions Replacement to Take ‘Clorox and a Firehose’ to Justice Department

Sidney Powell, a former federal prosecutor turned right-wing pundit and author, is defending President Trump’s firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and says she hopes his replacement “can start doing a lot of things that need to be done such as enforcing immigration laws, reopening the Clinton email investigation, and taking Clorox and a firehose to the Justice Department.”

The quote comes from an article at The Daily Signal, the Heritage Foundation’s “news platform,” which reported on Democratic leaders’ criticism of Trump’s decision to make Matt Whitaker—a prominent critic of Robert Mueller’s investigation—acting attorney general.

Powell was a guest last year on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, where she said of the Mueller investigation, “We’re not seeing mission creep, here, Sean, we’re seeing creeps on a mission to destabilize and destroy this president.”

Not coincidentally, Powell has a website called “Creeps on a Mission” that is devoted to attacking the Mueller investigation. The site includes links to legal defense funds for Michael Flynn and Paul Manafort, as well as for former Rep. Steve Stockman, who was convicted of 23 federal fraud charges earlier this year.

Powell is the author of “Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice.” Her punditry can found across the right-wing media universe, whether at The Daily Caller, where she warned against immigrant “mobs” and “invaders,” or at Breitbart, where she called for a criminal investigation of “everyone involved in the farcical Clinton email investigation at the Department of Justice and the FBI for their conspiracy and obstruction of justice.”
