A few weeks ago, we took note of the fact that “Dr. Chaps” Gordon Klingenschmitt was running for office in Colorado, so we guess it should not come as a surprise that he is now trying to cover-up his long record of saying crazy things by forcing YouTube to remove several of our videos of him saying these crazy things by filing bogus copyright complaints.
In the last few days, three of our Klingenschmitt videos have been removed and anyone who tries to watch them simply sees a message saying “This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by GJK, Inc.”
We’ve run into this issue with “Dr. Chaps” a few times before, like when we posted a video of him saying that Newt Gingrich was under the influence of a demonic voice when he said that Republicans would have to face up to the fact that the public attitude toward gay marriage was changing. When we posted that video, “Dr. Chaps” issued a press release claiming defamation and copyright violations and had our video removed from YouTube:
“Cease and Desist” warnings have been issued to the Huffington Post, Queerty.com, RawStory.com, and the anti-Christian group People for the American Way (PFAW), who are apparently also guilty of copyright infringement and theft of the Chaplain’s copyrighted TV show material.
“These anti-Jesus, Bible-haters have not only defamed me by maliciously misquoting me, they also stole my video, selectively edited to take my words out of context, removed my web-site prayinjesusname.org from my video, and added their own web-site, as if they were the owners or creators of my TV show. That’s highly unethical, and illegal theft and piracy of my copyrighted content,” said the Chaplain.
The liberal bloggers have been given 24 hours to remove their false statements, issue statements of retraction, and remove the illegally pirated video from their sites, or face further legal action.
We filed a counter-claim with YouTube asserting that our video was protected by Fair Use and eventually the video was restored. We have done the same with the three videos that Klingenschmitt has currently had removed and we expect the same result.
The only thing “Dr. Chaps” is doing by having these videos removed is calling attention to his efforts to cover up his well-documented record of making outrageous statements. But then, what else can we expect from someone who clearly does not understand how the internet works?
