Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina told Breitbart News radio listeners Saturday morning that President Donald Trump took interest in the case of accused war criminal Edward Gallagher after watching Norman discuss the issue on Fox News. The New York Times reported last week that the White House had sought paperwork needed to prepare a pardon for Gallagher.

Earlier this year, Norman appeared on Fox News to advocate that Trump move Gallagher out of his current detainment facility. Hours later, Norman said he had spoken to Trump by phone about Gallagher’s case, and thanked him for “deciding to move Chief Ghallager to less restrictive confinement while he awaits his day in court.”

“They asked me to go on Fox News. I did, and basically said that he ought to get out of being in prison with pedophiles and rapists. And President Trump watched the show. He called me at six o’clock that morning and said, ‘What can I do?’ I said, ‘Mr. President, if you could get him out of his condition, where he’s staying, and get him in a place where he can, one, get medical help, two, get prepared for the trial — that should not be that much to ask for, and so, the president did,” Norman said.

Coincidentally, Norman said he also heard about the Gallagher case from Fox News when they interviewed his brother, Sean Gallagher.

“I got involved with it when I saw Sean Gallagher on Fox News. Didn’t know the family, but as I heard what he was saying, and Andrea, his wife, Eddie Gallagher’s wife, came on as well, and so I started to get some info on it and called up Sean, and we went to supper one night,” Norman said.
