Right-wing pastor Rick Joyner appeared on the “Your Voice America” program recently, where he insisted that America will experience a dramatic Christian revival under President Trump “because of his sincere fear of the Lord.”
“I think we are going to see the church restored, the temple of the Lord restored in a major way during his administration,” Joyner said. “I think we are going to see a recovery of a love of God and an honoring of God in our country. There are already many things he has done already more boldly than many presidents who call claim to be Christians.”
“I have been around a number of political leaders and I have never seen one that had the fear of God like Trump did,” Joyner added. “He doesn’t respect men too much, he has learned how to manipulate them, use them in business and he has seen how weak people tend to be. But when clergy comes into his office, it is like he becomes so humble and so respectful and it’s genuine and it’s because of his sincere fear of the Lord.”
Apparently, it never occurred to Joyner that feigning humility and fear of the Lord might just be Trump’s way of manipulating and using clergy for his own ends.
