Prepare For The End Times To Start Next Week … Possibly … But Maybe Not

For months, various Religious Right activists have been warning that some sort of calamity will strike America in September as God unleashes His judgment for abortion, and gay marriage, and general disrespect, possibly even bringing about the End Times.

These same activists, of course, have also been very careful to hedge their bets, repeatedly acknowledging that nothing at all might happen because God “doesn’t have to work according to our schedule or understanding.” But the feeling that some  sort of spiritually significant event is about to occur seems to be one that is widely shared among the Religious Right’s End Times fanatics, such as Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries.

Markell appeared on American Family Radio’s “Today’s Issues” earlier this week, where she was asked whether Christians should expect the End of Days to begin next week and she declared that indeed they should … possibly … but maybe not … but, still, it might be wise to be prepared just in case.

“I think because there are about 25 things converging in September,” she said, “I think the question is: Could all of this be coincidence? Of the 25 — and we can’t go through them all — between the Shemitah, the Jewish high holy days, the Pope’s visit, and so much more, a global government, the discussion of the United Nations at the end of September, the list goes on and on and on and on.”

“Having said that,” she hedged, “do we go out on a limb and start predicting end of the world type things? I think we’ve got to be really careful with that because, remember, there had been some people who have tried the date setting throughout the last 50 years or so and then those dates don’t come to pass and then Christians stand with egg on their face.”

“But, on the other side of the coin,” Markell then pivoted, “when you’ve got between 20 and 30 things converging in September … at the very least, we need to sound a warning to be prepared.”

Christians should store up food and water and money, Markell recommended, “but I don’t think we should go off the deep end.”
