Joe Miller, who is once again running for Senate in Alaska, this time against Democratic incumbent Mark Begich, is a Tea Party candidate who enjoys railing against government programs that he himself has leaned on in the past.
Miller, who received federal farm subsidies and health care assistance (the latter of which he later claimed was unconstitutional), told Tea Party Express in an interview posted today that programs aimed at reducing income inequality are just “scams” meant to “increase government control” and prevent Americans from being “fully released to pursue those opportunities and abilities that God has given them.”
The real inequality that’s occurred here is what Obama’s done to the economy and what that has done to job opportunity compared to what could happen if the correct approach were taken, and that is getting government out of the way. And, again, that’s kind of an oversimplification, but what we mean by that is cutting taxes, cutting regulation, creating opportunity, allowing American ingenuity, allowing that productivity that I referred to before to be fully rewarded without the government slowing it down.
And that is the answer, it’s not to shift wealth or create additional government dependancy. I mean, that’s really what the left and some on the right like — not on the right, but some, shall we call them RINOs, like. They like creating programs that increase government control, governmental dependency. And that’s all that these scams that they call income redistribution do, is that they just create more of a hook the government puts into people that does not allow them to be fully released to pursue those opportunities and abilities that God has given them to actually create income for their families.
