In a Prayer, Concerned Women for America Defines Kavanaugh Opposition as ‘Schemes of the Enemy’

As part of its “Women for Kavanaugh” campaign, Concerned Women for America, a right-wing group, has offered up a prayer for each day of the passing week leading up to the confirmation hearings for President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.

Today’s prayer, pegged to the start of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, asks the Almighty to thwart the “schemes of the enemy”—presumably meaning any strategy employed by Democrats to halt the confirmation process.
Here’s the full text of CWA’s prayer for today’s hearing, which was written by Mario Diaz, the organization’s general counsel:
You, oh God, are our help and confidence.
We pray Your blessings on the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh.
May the schemes of the enemy be derailed.
May truth and justice reign.
We thank You for Your involvement and care for us.
Who are we that You are mindful of us?
Help us to be engaged and to support truth and justice through prayer and action as we help to get Justice Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.
We do so, believing he is a man who fears You and will try to be an impartial guardian of justice.
May he do so with humility and honor, always remembering that it is truth that sets us free.
Amen.
