Dave Daubenmire: ‘We Need to Make Homosexuality Unthinkable Again’

Radical right-wing activist Dave Daubenmire served as the keynote speaker at a fundraiser for the Harrison County (Ohio) Republican Party last Thursday, before returning to his webcast the following morning to obsessively attack Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg for being gay.

According to attendees, the GOP event was reportedly a great success:

Hundreds of local members of the Republican Party attended an annual dinner in Cadiz on Thursday evening for the Harrison County Republican Party Ox Roast fundraiser.

Chuck Harrah, Harrison County Republican Party executive committee member, said the event sold around 200 tickets this year, raising nearly $5,000, and deemed the event a successful evening. The event is meant to unify residents, Harrah said.

“It’s bringing together like-minded people together. They believe in the Constitution, they believe in Christian values, they’re very patriotic, they care about the pledge of allegiance, sanctity of life, our way of life; that the founders intended for this great nation,” he said.

Those who attended the event embrace all the aforementioned qualities, Harrah said. “We’re out here to show solidarity and to try to get our message out and try to follow through with our ideals and values to make this nation the greatest nation in the world, and the freest,” he said.

Dozens of local elected officials, representatives and committee members attended the soiree. State Rep. Don Jones, R-95th District, said when it was time for him to run for office, it was time to make a change.

The very next day, Daubenmire returned to his daily “Pass The Salt Live” webcast, where he incessantly attacked Buttigieg for being gay and declared that “we need to make homosexuality unthinkable again.”

Daubenmire repeatedly denigrated Buttigieg as “Mayor Pete Buttplug” and mocked him for being married, asserting that since Buttigieg has a husband, that must make him the wife.

“He doesn’t even take the leadership role in his home, because he has a husband [with] he being the wife,” Daubenmire said. “If he is the wife, does that mean that he is the insert-er or the insert-ee? Which role would Mayor Pete play?”

“We live in a society where we are giving serious consideration to a man who performs oral sex on another man,” he added. “We have to make this stuff unthinkable again. We have to … What he does in his own home is, in fact, his own business until he wants to be president of the United States. When he wants to be president of the United States, I want to do some scrutiny on what type of moral character this guy has. And I’m just telling you this: if this guy’s moral character involves doing what I believe he does have to do in order to have an orgasm, I got a problem with it.”

“We need to make homosexuality unthinkable again,” Daubenmire concluded. “It needs to go back in the closet.”
