On his television broadcast last night, Glenn Beck spent the entire hour interviewing controversial pastor (and alleged plagiarist) Mark Driscoll about what has gone wrong in America.
Early on in the discussion, Driscoll revealed that his church had recently conducted a survey to find out why people do not attend or stop attending church and learned that the main reason given is that Christians and the church are seen as intolerant.
Beck, of course, disagreed, saying that it was progressives and gay marriage activists and everyone else who are the intolerant ones because they are imposing their agenda upon Christians who just want is to be left alone to worship God as they see fit.
But, Beck said, this provides an opportunity for Christians to re-frame the debate. Asserting that anti-gay activists have “lost the war,” Beck said Christians need to start framing the debate in terms of tolerance by declaring that they are not trying to tell people how to live and, in return, expect to be able to live their own lives as they see fit.
Driscoll agreed, saying “the Religious Right, the Moral Majority, everybody put those t-shirts away, nobody is wearing them.”
