Evangelist Anne Graham Lotz, the daughter of Billy Graham, warned in a post on the Pentecostal site Charisma last week that today’s solar eclipse is a signal from God about His impending judgment on America. Graham Lotz wrote:
The celebratory nature regarding the eclipse brings to my mind the Babylonian King Belshazzar, who threw a drunken feast the night the Medes and Persians crept under the city gate. While Belshazzar and his friends partied, they were oblivious to the impending danger. Belshazzar wound up dead the next day, and the Babylonian empire was destroyed.
Jewish rabbis have historically viewed solar eclipses as warnings from God to Gentile nations. Therefore, my perspective on the upcoming phenomenon is not celebratory. While no one can know for sure if judgment is coming on America, it does seem that God is signaling us about something. Time will tell what that something is.
Graham Lotz urged readers to view a sermon from Australian pastor Steve Cioccolanti, embedded in her post, that goes into further detail about the impending judgment on America. In it, after extensive exercises in numerology meant to link today’s eclipse to a warning from God, Cioccolanti warns that the seven years between today’s eclipse and the next one that will pass over the United States, in 2024, “appears to be a seven-year countdown” in which some sort of judgment could befall America.
Cioccolanti links the U.S. to the biblical Babylon, but says that America is currently “the lynchpin hindering the spread of globalism” and that President Trump is “a setback to globalism and its anti-family, anti-liberty, anti-Christianity agenda.”
Trump could stop globalism in its tracks, he says, if he would just align with the governments of Russia, Syria and China:
The main enemies of globalism are Trump, Russia, Syria and China. In fact, Trump’s getting educated fast. He likes to talk with people, he likes to hang out with people that have the right information, and he’s learning. But take it from me, if he just watched this video, he would know. If you just make an alignment between America, Russia, China and Syria, globalist power is over until the Tribulation, until Christians are out of here.
Cioccolanti then returned to the topic of the impending judgment on the United States, saying that there is some hope for Americans “if they pray and repent,” which is made easier since “Trump is a great anti-establishment figure.”
So when is this great reckoning going to come to America? Cioccolanti says “probably not” on the day of the solar eclipse because God has a “leeway of months” on these things, but he does foresee a “seven-year countdown” until the next American eclipse.
“I think that a major earthquake or a plague or meteorite strikes are being foretold,” he says. “And many people are expecting the Rapture. I think that would be a wise thing to prepare for.”
