POTUS Shield, the Religious Right group that claims to be giving spiritual cover for Donald Trump’s presidency, is organizing two new meetings: one near Charlotte and another in Israel.
Far-right pastor Rick Joyner is hosting the August event at his church in Fort Mill, South Carolina, and the group is selling tickets for a tour of Israel in February 2018.
“Now is our time to storm heaven and earth for a New America, to usher forth revival in our land, and to bring our country back to God,” the group says in an advertisement for the Charlotte-area event.

POTUS Shield’s leaders view politics as spiritual warfare, and believe that Trump’s election has given the church in America an opportunity to spark a spiritual Great Awakening that will engulf not only America, but the world. They believe that a triumphant church establishing the kingdom of God on earth will set the stage for Christ’s return. Former Trump campaign adviser Frank Amedia, a leader of POTUS Shield, said that the POTUS in the group’s name does not refer only to President of the United States, but also to the Prophetic Order of the United States.
POTUS Shield has been led by Frank Amedia, who advised Trump’s presidential campaign on faith issues and hosted an event for the candidate in Ohio, and Lou Engle, the hardline preacher known for his anti-gay and anti-choice extremism.
At a POTUS Shield event at Amedia’s church in March, Engle asked God to “sweep away the judges” who uphold abortion rights in order for Trump to replace them with judges who would reverse Roe v. Wade, and Amedia boasted that their prayers led to the ouster of former national security adviser Michael Flynn, whom Amedia believed was undermining America’s relationship with Israel.
The group believes that the city of Charlotte plays a significant role in its Gulliver Prophecy, which they see as key to hastening a spiritual revival.
In a televised message this weekend, Amedia said that “POTUS Shield is the forerunner, with an Elijah spirit, to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord.”
He urged viewers to pray that God thwart the traps set for Trump by the left and to give him additional vacancies on the Supreme Court:
POTUS Shield is far greater than what its initial assignment was on November 9 at 3:30 AM when the Lord gave the vision to me and He said, ‘Stand as a shield for President Trump and Vice President Pence and their families, even during the transition.’ We have extended that, as you well know, and we’ve continued with on the assignments of God which are varied and many, all focused on making not only the United States one nation under God again—a great God is a great nation—but also in extending the shield that God has given us, this apostolic power, this prophetic move of God across the nation into various states and regions and now across the waters as we head into those areas to release God’s Jews to come back home to Eretz Yisrael even as we prepare the way for the coming of the Lord.

Please do continue to pray for the administration, let’s specifically not relent in holding up the president. As many, many people attack him and try to cause him to stumble, give him great wisdom; spring every trap, that he will see them ahead of time and that the Lord will save him from those traps that many from the left and other detractors are trying to set for him. We realize that this is the first and best opportunity we’ve had in many years, and possibly the last for quite a while, for us to get our stronghold as the born again Christians, the body of Christ, the voice of the church here on earth, in crying out for righteousness; crying out for the life of the unborn child; crying against abortion; that we stand for prayer in our schools and the right to speak out from our pulpits and anywhere, not only our beliefs but those ground in our faith in Jesus Christ; that our Judeo-Christian principles are withheld [sic] and upheld and respected with impunity, that we do not have to be afraid nor concerned about what politics may have to say, that we no longer cower to what is socially or politically correct but that we cower to the fear of the Lord and stand as His voice.
I am going to ask you to continue to pray that the Lord will move those two other seats that he told me about, that I shared with you early on in November, on the federal court system. The rumors are now that somebody may step down this summer, they’re saying it could be Justice Kennedy, I don’t know, but we want a person to be put in there that is going to stand for our Judeo-Christian rights and help to get our nation back to God and aligned. And then the Lord said there would be a third one. We were told to pray for Justice Sotomayor. Do not relent in that. She’s having an encounter with the Living God and we believe that those roots that are within her are going to be activated and spurned into excitement and revival, even on that court.
Amedia went on to call for people to pray for the anti-abortion movement—specifically the passage of the Heartbeat Bill in Ohio—and for Trump’s trip to the Middle East. He urged the president to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s official capital and to not support the two-state solution because it would divide God’s land and “contradict the word of God.”
Amedia also called for God to make personnel changes in the administration:
Let’s pray for a continual sifting in the White House, in the administration, and in the executive branch, that those who don’t belong there, even if they might have been freshly appointed with this new administration, be sought out and removed. We want the voices that stand with the Lord to be there. Even those that say that they represent Christ, if they’re moving with personal ambition, with lust, and also restricting the apostolic or prophetic word of God moving in the White House, we’re asking God to change their heads or remove them as well.
