Phyllis Schlafly: ‘Overweight Woman In Charge Of The Secret Service’ Couldn’t ‘Protect The President’

In an interview with Jacksonville radio host Cindy Graves on Friday, Phyllis Schlafly expressed her admiration for Rep. Michele Bachmann but seemed taken aback when Graves mentioned Joni Ernst, the Iowa Republican Senate candidate who is a lieutenant colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard.

After Schlafly heaped praise on the “wonderful” and “articulate” Bachmann, Graves asked Schlafly — a staunch opponent of allowing women to serve in the military — if she shared her admiration for Ernst “not only as a strong woman but also as a military leader, I think it’s refreshing.”

Schlafly curtly agreed before adding, “Of course, the Secret Service has taken a blow in the past week. They put this overweight woman in charge of the Secret Service and she was not able, really, to protect the president.”
