Mission America president Linda Harvey today used her radio show to link gays and lesbians to child molesters. Of course, this is not the first time Harvey used cases of child abuse to attack the gay community, and today she asked, “isn’t much of what the homosexual community is promoting to our kids doing the molester’s cultivation work for him?” She argued that LGBT youth are likely victims of “sexual abuse” and said that affirming their sexual orientation is part of a “deception” that is “being sold to kids and they are being set up for being abused and for early damage”:
We all know the stereotype, the sneaky child molester who carefully cultivates a friendship and eventually takes advantage of the child’s trust. But here’s my question: isn’t much of what the homosexual community is promoting to our kids doing the molester’s cultivation work for him? With all the recent focus on the sexual abuse of boys, I took special note of a study that came out showing that teens who call themselves gay, lesbian or bisexual report much higher rates of being sexually active before age thirteen.

Now what does this say to you? It says to me that a lot of this so-called sexual activity could be criminal child sexual abuse. But this survey just leaves the mystery unsolved, it never asks for the obvious follow-up information about the ages of the partners of these kids.
Again, what are people thinking? When a student is asked a question like this and then the adults in charge just leave the elephant in the room question unasked, we’ve communicated one unspoken, huge message: we don’t care; we don’t want to know about the very likely sexual abuse that some of you experienced and we don’t intend to do anything about it, in fact we adults are going to pretend in a clinical fashion that there’s nothing particularly disturbing about this and we just hope you process this invasion of your privacy and then the virtual emotional abandonment without making too much of a fuss.
Well why are we surprised? Many of the radicals want for us to all accept the idea that there are gay teens and now even gay children. Some even want to portray adult and child contact as not criminal sexual abuse but a child’s first ‘gay experience.’ See how this goes? It’s deception all the way around. We paint kids into a high-risk corner and then we wonder why some are so unhappy. Well I don’t accept any of this and I hope you won’t either; it’s a huge, harmful lie. These ideas are being sold to kids and they are being set up for being abused and for early damage. Whatever happened to the idea of valuing the innocence of children and coming to their rescue?
