Gordon Klingenschmitt: Placing A Muslim In Charge Of DNC Would Be Highly Offensive To Christian Voters

On his “Pray In Jesus Name” program recently, Religious Right activist Gordon Klingenschmitt reacted to the news that Rep. Keith Ellison, one of two Muslim members of Congress, is seeking to become the next head of the Democratic National Committee by declaring that such a move would be highly offensive to evangelical Christians.

Klingenschmitt warned that “there is a spirit of idolatry inside of the religion Islam, who worship a false god, who follow a false prophet and read a false book.”

“You really want this to be the face of the Democrat Party?” he asked. “Don’t you think that kind of thinking offended some of the voters, especially the evangelical voters who brought [Donald] Trump to victory?”

Democrats need to “appear reasonable to evangelical voters,” Klingenschmitt counseled, but are instead “thumbing their nose at the voters who just repudiated them” by even contemplating putting a Muslim in charge of the party.

“You guys can try that as a strategy if you want, but you’re going to lose election after election after election if Ellison is the face of the DNC,” Klingenschmitt predicted, as he prayed that both political parties will select leaders who fear “the one true God, the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob and His name is Jesus Christ.”
