GOP House Candidate: Media Will ‘Destroy’ Me As Part Of ‘The Real War On Women’

Louisiana lawmaker Lenar Whitney, a Republican candidate for an open seat in the U.S. House, had a bit of a meltdown, to say the least, during an interview with Cook Political Report analyst Dave Wasserman last week.

“[N]ever have I met any candidate quite as frightening or fact-averse as Louisiana state Rep. Lenar Whitney,” Wasserman writes. When he asked about her claim that climate change is the “greatest deception in the history of mankind” and insisted that the earth was getting colder, “she froze and was unable to cite a single scientist, journal or news source to back up her beliefs.

“To change the subject, I asked whether she believed Obama was born in the United States. When she replied that it was a matter of some controversy, her two campaign consultants quickly whisked her out of the room, accusing me of conducting a ‘Palin-style interview.’ It was the first time in hundreds of Cook Political Report meetings that a candidate has fled the room.”

Whitney is now lashing out at Wasserman, calling him a liar who tried to “jump me simply because I am a Conservative Woman.”

“[L]iberal shills like Dave Wasserman want to destroy us,” she wrote on Facebook on Friday. “That’s the real #WarOnWomen.”

What The Cook Political Report printed about me is an outright lie. I left the interview with Dave Wasserman, several questions later, after he asked me if I was a “birther”.

It was obvious, from the onset of the interview, that Wasserman had planned to jump me simply because I am a Conservative Woman and liberal shills like Dave Wasserman want to destroy us.

That’s the real #WarOnWomen
