Mississippi State Sen. Chris McDaniel, who failed to unseat U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran in a June 24 GOP runoff election, railed today against the incumbent senator and his allies John McCain and Haley Barbour.
Discussing the increasingly bitter aftermath of the election with American Family Association government affairs director Sandy Rios, McDaniel accused Cochran’s campaign of engaging in “race baiting,” telling voters that “limited government is a bad thing” and having “abandoned social values, Christian values.”
“You don’t grow the party by abandoning the party’s base, which is conservatism, and that is exactly what Cochran and Barbour did Tuesday evening,” he said.
McDaniel later told Rios that there were “thousands” of ineligible votes among those cast by “more than 40,000 liberal Democrats” for Cochran: “This election was stolen from conservatives, stolen from Republicans.”
