As we noted the other day, the Religious Right’s current anti-Christian discrimination victim/cause célèbre is Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Phillip Monk who claims that he was “relieved of my position because I don’t agree with my commander’s position on gay marriage.”
The Air Force says that Monk is lying which, of course, the Religious Right sees simply as further proof that Monk is not only being discriminated against, but now threatened and intimidated.
On his radio broadcast today (which, for some reason, the AFA has stopped posting on YouTube), Bryan Fischer focused his attention on the fact that Monk’s commanding officer was a lesbian when he asserted, utterly without evidence, that she broke the law by serving openly in the military before the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
Despite having literally nothing upon which to base that assertion, Fischer declared that the lesbian officer was allowed to break the law by serving before DADT was repealed and so now knows “that there are no rules that are going to restrain homosexuals that are in the military”:
If she’s an open lesbian and she is his commander, that means she’s been in the military for a long time. You don’t get there in a year and a half or two years.
So this means that she was serving in the military as a lesbian, as an out and open homosexual long before Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was repealed.
She was breaking the law. She was violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice. She was in violation of military policy, military law, she was breaking the law established by Congress. And yet there she was apparently serving quite openly in the military even though what she was doing – everybody knew who she was, knew what she was about – and yet she was allowed to completely break the law.
So she understands now that there are no rules that are going to restrain homosexuals that are in the military; it’s carte blanche for them. They can get away with absolutely anything now in the military.
