Brad Mattes, the head of the Life Issues Institute, which recently merged with the powerful anti-choice group Susan B. Anthony List, told radio listeners last week that anti-choice activists have to understand that “there is a demonic presence in the abortion battle” and that Satan uses the abortion debate as “one of his most effective tools to drag souls to hell.”
Mattes, appearing on VCY America’s “Crosstalk” program, told a caller that “science, medicine is on our side” in the abortion rights debate, but that there was another important consideration as well.
“But also keep in mind that there is a demonic presence in the abortion battle,” he said. “Satan, this is one of his most effective tools to drag souls to hell, and he’s not going to give up any ground without a fight. So what may seem totally unreasonable to us, we have to understand that Satan has blinded a great number of people into not seeing the truth of abortion, just as he did with slavery so many years ago, just as he did with the Holocaust in Europe. We understand there’s a demonic presence, and that’s why prayer is a very important tool also.”
