Betsy DeVos And CPAC Attendees Applaud Move To Rescind Protections For Transgender Students

Today, attendees of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) loudly applauded the news that President Trump had rescinded federal guidelines preventing discrimination against transgender students.

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos praised the move while speaking with pro-Trump CNN commentator Kayleigh McEnany, who decried the 2016 guidelines as “lawless” just seconds after hailing DeVos for protecting children “of all identities.”

Despite reports that DeVos initially opposed the decision to withdraw the rules, the education secretary criticized the guidelines as a federal “overreach” before launching into vague talking points about the importance of school flexibility and individual freedom.

Later, DeVos and McEnany spent time discussing the issue of bullying…of conservative students.
