Philip Haney is a former Department of Homeland Security employee who, since retiring, has become a favorite of the anti-Muslim Right for his claims that President Obama is committing “treason” and that the Obama administration shut down an investigation that Haney was conducting that he claims could possibly have prevented the San Bernardino terrorist attack.
Former Rep. Michele Bachmann has identified Haney as a key “whistleblower” upon whom she relied heavily during her time in office as she routinely accused the Obama administration of allowing Islamic radicals to infiltrate the government.
Recently, Haney sat down with Bill Johnson, president of American Decency Association, to discuss his work during his days at DHS and it is easy to see why he and Bachmann got along so swimmingly, since he believes that God has been guiding his efforts to uncover the supposed Islamic infiltration of the U.S. government.
“I faced great opposition,” Haney said, “but it was by the grace of God, He gave me the wisdom and the grace and the integrity to be able to having done all to stand. And we took a vow to protect our country from threat both foreign and domestic and I took that vow very seriously, not only from a, let’s say, political dimension but also from a spiritual dimension as well. Because the Lord taught us that we should always speak the truth and we should always stand up for things that are right and true and that He would promise that He would keep us, that He would lead us and guide us and stand beside us and never forsake us. And I took Him at His word and He kept His word.”
“He directed me every step of the way through this very, very traumatizing process and helped me endure it for more than 10 years,” Haney continued. “He gave me the insight and wisdom and put me in places where, like flashes of lightening, I was able to see particularly important events along the way and capture them and document them, you know, like the prophets; write it down, record it in the book, or like Solomon, go to and study the end. And I took these pieces of advice from people in the Bible and I put them into my own profession and I kept track of everything very carefully, and when it was time, I presented it to Congress.”
