Remember Joseph Sciambra, the ex-Nazi-witch-Satanist-porn-star who authored the salacious memoir “Swallowed by Satan”? Well, Sciambra is back with a new interview on the podcast “Catholic Answers Focus,” in which he promotes his book and discusses his ex-gay activism in San Francisco’s Castro district.
Describing the gay community as a “dark,” “sick” and “bad world,” Sciambra tells podcast host Patrick Coffin that the rise of gay rights in the U.S. is the result of “misplaced charity” towards gay people as the “gay lifestyle” has “gotten darker and sicker” … and Madonna.
“Through the ‘90s we had Madonna with all the bisexual stuff she was doing and then AIDS sort of seemed to, through the pharmaceutical companies, people were living longer with AIDS and it just seemed to slipped from the media limelight and there was just sort of a misplaced charity towards the gay community that had suffered so greatly during the AIDS crisis,” he said. “I think people very much wanted to love them and feel sorry for them for what they had gone through and I think it sort of got twisted into accepting everything gay men or women do, into saying, ‘Let’s accept them wanting to be married.’ I don’t know, it’s just bizarre what happened. Things at the core of the gay lifestyle haven’t changed, I think it’s gotten darker and sicker.”
Sciambra added that Apple CEO Tim Cook’s recent remarks on being gay are “awful” and may twist the minds of children: “My first thought is to the children that look up to him and admire him because he is a very successful and worldly person, he’s just down in Palo Alto not far from here, I don’t know what his background is and I don’t know what he experienced as a younger gay man, he’s painting a picture of the gay lifestyle that I think is false.”
