Last month, Ohio Republican Rep. Bill Johnson stopped by “The Tom Roten Morning Show,” where he said that just as many did not grasp the Nazi threat in the run-up to World War II, the Obama administration is ignoring the dangers posed by terrorist groups today.
The congressman’s solution? Issuing a formal declaration of war against “the concept of terror.”
“The same thing is happening now when we are denying that we are at war with terror,” Johnson said. “If I were the president, I would be declaring war on terror. I’m talking about formally, having Congress do it. That is not declaring war on a nation but it is declaring war on the concept of terror.”
He also claimed that violent groups like ISIS which claim to represent Islam are the only true Muslims : “Islam has morphed over the last thousand years as it has tempered its violent tendencies. What we are seeing in ISIS is actually going all the way back 1,000 years to the ideology that Mohammad advocated. That’s the way they did things.”
