Fischer: Jesus Doesn't Want You 'To Give Any Kind Of Help' To Someone Getting A Divorce
On yesterday's radio broadcast, Bryan Fischer took a call from a listener who was seeking advice on how he should respond to fellow Christians who had sided with his wife when the two got divorced a few years ago.
Saying that his wife had engaged in adultery and then sought a divorce against his wishes, the caller was mystified by the fact that his "brothers and sisters in Christ" had shown up in court to testify on behalf of his wife during a custody hearing.
Fischer was likewise mystified by this, primarily because Jesus said that no Christian should ever provide "any kind of aid or comfort or help to a person who wants to break up a marriage."
"We shouldn't be anywhere around that," Fischer said. "We shouldn't give help, any kind of help - especially testifying in court - we shouldn't give help to the individual that wants to break up what God has joined together."
Doing so, he warned, puts one in direct conflict "with the teaching of Jesus Christ himself":
