Marcia Segelstein, a columnist for the American Family Association’s OneNewsNow, decried today the representation of gays and lesbians and families led by same-sex parents in television shows such as Glee and Modern Family and the movie The Kids Are All Right. Earlier this year, the AFA launched a boycott of Glee for allegedly promoting “deviant sexuality,” “homosexual behavior,” “idolatry” and “vulgar” choreography.
Citing the work of right-wing Washington Times columnist Mary Beth Hicks and her new book, “Don't Let the Kids Drink... MORE

Shortly after Gov. Rick Perry's giant prayer rally in August, organizers started emailing those who had registered for the event, urging them to get active in a new Religious Right voter mobilization effort called Champion The Vote.
It turns out that this registration and mobilization effort is being backed by millions of dollars from Rick Perry supporters who are dedicated to doing what they can to register tens of millions of Christian voters in the coming years in an effort to take back America.
Yesterday, Champion The Vote's Bill Dallas was a guest on The Janet Mefferd Show where he... MORE

Before heading to this week’s Presidency 5 conference in Orlando, Rick Perry named two Religious Right leaders to his Florida Presidency 5 campaign leadership team: John Stemberger and Pam Olsen. While Stemberger’s anti-choice, anti-gay and anti-Muslim activism is well known, Olsen is a far more obscure figure, but no less extreme. Olsen has said that same-sex marriage will lead to God’s judgment, preached Seven Mountains dominionism, and even claims that she, as a prophet, will have the power to raise the dead in the End Times.
Olsen heads the Tallahassee branch of the... MORE

While in Amarillo, Texas, after his archdiocese recalled him from New York over allegations of financial mismanagement, Frank Pavone of Priests for Life is still making his voice heard. Pavone writes in his blog today that in the same way voters cannot find common ground with politicians that support terrorism, they can’t find common ground with pro-choice candidates:
“When I preach – and help other priests to preach – the clear message that candidates and parties must defend life, some – including clergy – complain to me that my message hurts their... MORE

One of the things we are constantly hearing from Religious Right leaders is that we are in, or will soon be in, "the next great awakening." What that means, nobody ever really explains but it seems to entail millions of people becoming dedicated Christians and then voting for Republicans who will outlaw abortion and gay marriage and taxes.
The question of how we will actually know that we are in the midst of "the next great awakening" also goes unexplained ... but on "Prophetic Perspective on Current Events" yesterday Rick Joyner gave us a hint: NFL ... MORE

Yesterday on American Family Radio’s Today’s Issues, Family Research Council president Tony Perkins and American Family Association head Tim Wildmon agreed that God is going to judge the U.S. over the issue of abortion and marriage equality. “God is going to hold us accountable for the death, the destructive policies of this country that have devalued human life and are redefining marriage,” Perkins said, and Wildmon concurred that as long as abortion continues to be legal in America “we will be judged and held accountable for it, as a country.”
