On Friday, Rachel Maddow reproached Republican presidential candidates for planning to appear alongside American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer at the upcoming Values Voter Summit. Maddow pointed out that Fischer, along with being “outlandishly all caps bigoted against every other group in America that you can think of” with his anti-gay, anti-Muslim and anti-Native American rhetoric, believes that the First Amendment does not apply to Mormons, which makes it “particularly awkward” that Mitt Romney, a Mormon, is speaking immediately before Fischer at the... Several week ago, we noted that Rick Joyner had embraced anti-Islam activism and begun working with notorious anti-Muslim activist Frank Gaffney, even dedicating an entire week of his television program to highlighting the threat of Isalm.
One of Joyner's main area of concerns is "Chrislam," an effort to build bridges between Christians and Muslims, occasionally by engaging in some form of joint worship. To Joyner, this is flat-out heresy and he recently posted a video decrying the practice, declaring that the only reason he doesn't support burning the Quran is because he... MORE

Jay Sekulow’s American Center for Law and Justice, which was founded by Pat Robertson, has become a leading anti-Muslim legal outfit despite its supposed commitment to religious liberty. The group, for instance, tried to block the construction of the Park 51 Islamic Center and promotes paranoia over “creeping Sharia.” Today on The 700 Club, Robertson and Sekulow discussed a tragic case in Iran where a Christian pastor faces execution for apostasy. But the conversation quickly turned to panic about the purported use of Sharia law in the United States. Robertson and Sekulow... MORE

Judicial Watch founder Larry Klayman took to Renew America to demand Americans “take matters into our own hands and wage a Second American Revolution” against President Barack Obama, who he calls “our mullah in chief.” The conservative activist focuses on the bid to recognize Palestinian statehood in the United Nations to attack Obama and the “self-hating ultra-leftist Jews Obama surrounds himself with.” Klayman writes:
It always amazes me how naïve many in the conservative movement are.
While optimism is generally a good thing, there is no cause for... MORE

This November a coalition of anti-Muslim and Religious Right groups are hosting “The Constitution or Sharia—Preserving Freedom Conference” in Nashville, Tennessee, dubbed “the first national conference on Sharia and the Islamization of America.” The location does not seem to be coincidental: the Tennessee legislature recently weighed a bill that would make it a felony to follow Sharia law and the town of Murfreesboro, just south of Nashville, has witnessed vicious anti-Muslim attacks and arson against a planned mosque. A lawsuit against the mosque declared that... MORE

Before heading to this week’s Presidency 5 conference in Orlando, Rick Perry named two Religious Right leaders to his Florida Presidency 5 campaign leadership team: John Stemberger and Pam Olsen. While Stemberger’s anti-choice, anti-gay and anti-Muslim activism is well known, Olsen is a far more obscure figure, but no less extreme. Olsen has said that same-sex marriage will lead to God’s judgment, preached Seven Mountains dominionism, and even claims that she, as a prophet, will have the power to raise the dead in the End Times.
Olsen heads the Tallahassee branch of the... MORE

Last week we noted that, after being confronted about The Oak Initiative and its anti-Muslim activities, Samuel Rodriguez admitted that his role as a board member and supporter of the group did not square with his reputation as a moderate evangelical leader.
As such, Rodriquez promised that he was going to resign from the group:
He knew instinctively as I read to him the Oak Initiative's views about Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood that this was an affront to what he wished to stand for. While he pleaded ignorance with regards to the details of the Oak Initiative's agenda and website (he... MORE
