Maddow Admonishes GOP Field For Sharing The Stage With Bryan Fischer

On Friday, Rachel Maddow reproached Republican presidential candidates for planning to appear alongside American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer at the upcoming Values Voter Summit. Maddow pointed out that Fischer, along with being “outlandishly all caps bigoted against every other group in America that you can think of” with his anti-gay, anti-Muslim and anti-Native American rhetoric, believes that the First Amendment does not apply to Mormons, which makes it “particularly awkward” that Mitt Romney, a Mormon, is speaking immediately before Fischer at the conference.

Joyner: Only Reason I Don't Burn The Quran Is So People Can Read How "Bizarre" It Is

Several week ago, we noted that Rick Joyner had embraced anti-Islam activism and begun working with notorious anti-Muslim activist Frank Gaffney, even dedicating an entire week of his television program to highlighting the threat of Isalm.

One of Joyner's main area of concerns is "Chrislam," an effort to build bridges between Christians and Muslims, occasionally by engaging in some form of joint worship.  To Joyner, this is flat-out heresy and he recently posted a video decrying the practice, declaring that the only reason he doesn't support burning the Quran is because he wants people to read it to see just how "bizarre" it is and declares that the Quran enslaves Muslims, which is why "we have more slaves in the world today than before the Civil War here in America":

Robertson, Sekulow Claim That Sharia Law Is Headed To The Constitution

Jay Sekulow’s American Center for Law and Justice, which was founded by Pat Robertson, has become a leading anti-Muslim legal outfit despite its supposed commitment to religious liberty. The group, for instance, tried to block the construction of the Park 51 Islamic Center and promotes paranoia over “creeping Sharia.” Today on The 700 Club, Robertson and Sekulow discussed a tragic case in Iran where a Christian pastor faces execution for apostasy. But the conversation quickly turned to panic about the purported use of Sharia law in the United States. Robertson and Sekulow had harsh words for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who referred to the notion of “creeping Sharia” as “crazy.” In fact, Sekulow made the case that Sharia law is well on its way to inclusion in the Constitution:

Klayman Urges "Second American Revolution" Against The "Mullah In Chief"

Judicial Watch founder Larry Klayman took to Renew America to demand Americans “take matters into our own hands and wage a Second American Revolution” against President Barack Obama, who he calls “our mullah in chief.” The conservative activist focuses on the bid to recognize Palestinian statehood in the United Nations to attack Obama and the “self-hating ultra-leftist Jews Obama surrounds himself with.” Klayman writes:

It always amazes me how naïve many in the conservative movement are.

While optimism is generally a good thing, there is no cause for hope these days, unless We the People take matters into our own hands and wage a Second American Revolution.

As the French say, "The more things change the more they remain the same." And perhaps it is no accident that the phrase "theatre of the absurd" came from French existential philosopher Jean Paul Sartre. For the existential French movement believes that life is not rational and essentially meaningless. According to Sartre and his progeny, life is godless and devoid of spiritual meaning. That is the state of the United States by and large today, as far as our so-called leaders are concerned, no matter what false spin they may spew forth to the American people. Actions speak louder than words, an American expression!

As just one example, this time from the Democratic side of the aisle, our president, Barack Hussein Obama, Muslim under Islamic law as his father was Muslim and clearly Muslim in his heart, is in the process of orchestrating what Netanyahu branded "theatre of the absurd" with regard to Israel, a vital ally and one that is essential for U.S. national security in the oil-rich region of the Middle East. Having disparaged Israel and its leaders for the last three years, sided with Arab states bent on its destruction, supported a false "Arab Spring" that resulted in the removal of vital allies like former President Mubarak in Egypt, giving rise to the ascension of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood in not only Egypt but several other Arab states which surround Israel, it should come as no surprise that the Palestinian Authority, which already was granted autonomy by Israel to govern itself on the West Bank, and its comrade in arms, Hamas, the terrorist group which rules Gaza and subjects Israelis to constant rocket attacks, has circumvented direct negotiations with Israel and gone to the "terrorist friendly" United Nations to impose a Palestinian state on the world. Coupled with the appearance if not reality that Obama and his administration — including the self-hating ultra-leftist Jews Obama surrounds himself with for political cover in the White House — are anti-Semitic, the Palestinians obviously felt emboldened to pursue this course. They have a not-too-stealth ally in the president of the United States and his sleazy minions. In effect, Obama stood by and let this happen.

But now that recent polls and election results show that Obama and his fellow Democrats are rapidly losing their traditional hold on Jewish political donors and fundraisers, our glib "mullah in chief" — two faced as ever — seeks to create the newly crafted impression that he is now solidly behind Israel and direct negotiations, rather than a United Nation's imposed Palestinian state. Promising to impose a veto in the Security Council if the United Nation's General Assembly votes for Palestinian statehood, Obama creates the appearance of false leadership for Israeli interests. In exchange and desperate for the administration's support, Obama obviously required words of thanks from Netanyahu and his more conservative Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman — as a means to boost his sinking ratings among American Jews. In effect, Obama held a gun to Netanyahu's and Lieberman's head to boost his standing among Jews. This charade is not only sickening, but dangerous.

If the situation in the Middle East and at home is not frightening enough, then wake up to this even worse prospect, America. Our political leaders have not only failed us and subverted our interests, but are poised to destroy what little we have left as a nation.

Anti-Muslim, Religious Right Leaders Come Together For "Preserving Freedom Conference"

This November a coalition of anti-Muslim and Religious Right groups are hosting “The Constitution or Sharia—Preserving Freedom Conference” in Nashville, Tennessee, dubbed “the first national conference on Sharia and the Islamization of America.” The location does not seem to be coincidental: the Tennessee legislature recently weighed a bill that would make it a felony to follow Sharia law and the town of Murfreesboro, just south of Nashville, has witnessed vicious anti-Muslim attacks and arson against a planned mosque. A lawsuit against the mosque declared that Islam is not a religion and therefore Muslims do not deserve First Amendment protections. Presidential candidate Herman Cain went to Murfreesboro to condemn the planned mosque as an “abuse of our freedom of religion,” before declaring that municipalities have a right to ban mosques.

The summit features panels on issues such as “Fighting Islamist Propaganda in the Media,” “Grassroots Organizing Against Sharia and Rabats (including Mega-Mosques),” and “Defending Liberty In Legislatures.” The chief sponsor of the event is the extremist media outlet WorldNetDaily and speakers include a mix of the usual anti-Muslim activists including Robert Spencer, Frank Gaffney and Pamela Geller, along with Religious Right leaders who have consistently attacked the rights of Muslims such as Jay Sekulow, Mat Staver, Andrea and Jim Lafferty, E.W. Jackson and William Murray. Michele Bachmann is listed an invited speaker but has not been confirmed:

• Pamela Geller of Stop Islamization of America and Atlas Shrugs
• Robert Spencer of Stop Islamization of America and Jihad Watch
• Jay Sekulow of American Center for Law and Justice
• Mathew Staver of Liberty Counsel
• William J. Murray of Religious Freedom Coalition and No 911 Mosque
• Frank Gaffney of Center for Security Policy
• Christopher Holton of Center for Security Policy
• Lou Ann Zelenik of Tennessee Freedom Coaltion
• Andrea Lafferty of Traditional Values Coalition
• James Lafferty of Virginia Anti-Sharia Task Force
• Barrister Paul Diamond, United Kingdom
• Father Keith Roderick
• Bishop Earl W. Jackson
• Fred Grandy - Actor and former congressman
• Wafa Sultan
• Rev. Dr. Mark Durie, Australia

Lou Ann Zelenik is best known for the malicious anti-Muslim themes in her unsuccessful campaign for Congress last year, which focused on stopping the Murfreesboro mosque development. E.W. Jackson is currently relying heavily on anti-Muslim rhetoric in his bid for U.S. Senate in Virginia.

This won’t be the first time Religious Right leaders and anti-Muslim activists have come together at a major event, and anti-Muslim activists have started appearing frequently on Christian conservative radio outlets.

With another gathering set to demonize Muslims and hype fears of “creeping Sharia,” the Religious Right’s ostensible commitment to religious freedom yet again doesn’t translate into freedom for non-Christian faiths.

For example, notice the involvement of “William J. Murray of Religious Freedom Coalition and No 911 Mosque.” As Kyle noted last year in a post about Murray, the Religious Freedom Coalition is “dedicated to the equality of all mankind and the freedom of religious expression” but is also running a campaign determined to stop Muslims from having those same rights by trying to block the construction of the Park 51 Islamic Community Center. The center opened last week without protests, and so far, Lower Manhattan is not under the rule of Sharia law.

Meet Rick Perry's Radical Leadership Team Co-Chair

Before heading to this week’s Presidency 5 conference in Orlando, Rick Perry named two Religious Right leaders to his Florida Presidency 5 campaign leadership team: John Stemberger and Pam Olsen. While Stemberger’s anti-choice, anti-gay and anti-Muslim activism is well known, Olsen is a far more obscure figure, but no less extreme. Olsen has said that same-sex marriage will lead to God’s judgment, preached Seven Mountains dominionism, and even claims that she, as a prophet, will have the power to raise the dead in the End Times.

Olsen heads the Tallahassee branch of the International House of Prayer, whose members helped organize and preached at Perry’s The Response prayer rally in August. The Response emcee Mike Bickle, who once claimed that Oprah is the harbinger of the Antichrist and that gay marriage is “rooted in the depths of hell,” is the founder and director of IHOP. As reported by Sarah Posner, Olsen was inspired to found IHOP Tallahassee after extremist self-proclaimed prophet Cindy Jacobs prophesied over her.

In July, Olsen warned that God’s increasingly severe judgments will come on the church and America for legalizing same-sex marriage in the form of natural disasters:

We are under judgment. Do you know how many of the denominations now are suddenly saying, ‘Oh ok we think it’s ok now to have gay marriage, we think it’s ok to have gay preachers, we think it’s ok.’ Whole denominations! The Episcopalians fell off the planet, they think it’s ok to have gay priests. We’ve got other groups, one of the Presbyterians, they’re looking at voting, we’ve got other ones, they’re all of the sudden going, ‘Oh in the name of tolerance,’ and they’re forgetting God’s word completely in whole denominations. You know what, God is not one that’s gonna wink at sin, He will come and shake at everything that can be shaken. God is a God of judgment, He is. If we think we’re not gonna be judged…He judged Israel? Are we better than that? And sometimes I think we think we are, but we’re not. And God is shaking. If anybody looks at the news and has just seen what’s been happening recently with the floods, the fires, the tornadoes, God is shaking. Yeah I think you have God shaking, sure you have the Enemy shaking, you have both and I don’t want to say oh that’s the judgment of God or that’s the Enemy. But the reality is God is judging us, and I think it’s going to get worse.

In an April service, Olsen preached Seven Mountains dominionism, the radical theology that demands fundamentalist Christians take control over the seven critical spheres of society: government, business, media, arts and entertainment, family, media, education, and religion. Towards the end of the service, Olsen also states that in the End Times she will be capable of raising the dead:

We talk a lot about the seven centers of power or the seven mountains, asking God to come. If you are ever in any intercession set here at the house of prayer, you will find us often crying out God move on the hearts of the family; awaken the church in the West, in this city awaken the church; we cry out for the government, we’re in capital city and we better be crying out to the government; pray for the campuses and the youth to be moved; that God will move and change the media’s heart that He would begin to cause them to speak truth; that He would come and move in the marketplace and awaken and bring His people the finances to literally fund the Kingdom of God; that He come and move in every area in arts and entertainment. Those are the seven mountains of influence that God would begin to move, and we cry out for that because God wants to come, the Holy Spirit wants to come and it is like hot molten lava that He would literally sweep over every area.

Man I tell you what, we better know God’s word in this hour with what’s coming, we better know God’s word, and we better be saying, God I want to partner with your heart, whatever’s coming I want to be prepared as an End Time messenger who has walked in the fire and knows You and knows how to say, God that person needs to be raised from the dead and I’m gonna say, in Jesus’ name rise up and walk, and I’m gonna pray that in and see the dead raised!

Rodriguez Quietly Resigns From The Oak Initiative

Last week we noted that, after being confronted about The Oak Initiative and its anti-Muslim activities, Samuel Rodriguez admitted that his role as a board member and supporter of the group did not square with his reputation as a moderate evangelical leader.

As such, Rodriquez promised that he was going to resign from the group:

He knew instinctively as I read to him the Oak Initiative's views about Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood that this was an affront to what he wished to stand for. While he pleaded ignorance with regards to the details of the Oak Initiative's agenda and website (he claimed he had barely been involved), he assured me that by the end of the day he would resign from the Board and make clear his regret. Five hours later I received an email with his letter to the Executive Board of NHCLC responding to Tabachnik's article and detailing the steps he was taking to denounce extremism, steps that include his resignation from the board of the Oak Initiative.

Today Rachel Tabachnick, whose recent article on Rodriguez set this chain of events in motion, reports that Oak Initiative founder Rick Joyner has confirmed that Rodriguez has in fact resigned ... but only because he is too busy with other projects:

Dear Rachel Tabachnick,

Thanks for your inquiry. Sam Rodriguez did recently resign from the board of The Oak Initiative citing as the reason being that his increased responsibilities with editing a new Spanish version of Charisma Magazine would prohibit him having time to give a meaningful contribution to The Oak. We have a deep appreciation for Sam Rodriguez and will miss his contribution to The Oak, but congratulate him for this new endeavor.

This change should be reflected on our website soon. Thanks again for the inquiry.

Rick Joyner

Rodriguez promised that he would do three things: resign, voice his regret for associating with this group and denounce their extremism.

He appears to have accomplished the first step, but we have seen no evidence that he has done either of the latter two.  And if Rodriquez was compelled to resign from the organization because of its anti-Muslim extremism, why is his resignation is now being attributed to his "increased responsibilities" elsewhere?

Spencer Claims Liberals And Islamists Are United By Their Shared Loathing Of America

Anti-Muslim activists have been making the rounds in Religious Right media recently, including Frank Gaffney’s weeklong love fest with Rick Joyner, Robert Spencer’s and Pamela Geller’s appearances on Janet Mefferd’s show, and Steve Emerson’s interview with Jerry Newcombe of Truth in Action Ministries. Yesterday, Spencer joined Newcombe on his show Truth that Transforms, where the two conflated progressives’ support for civil rights for Muslims with support for extremism. Spencer told Newcombe that “the left doesn’t really like America or western civilization” so they “see in Islam” an influential “ally.” He made a similar argument on The 700 Club with Pat Robertson, when he asserted that the supposedly liberal media “hate” everything “that’s American, that’s Western, that’s Christian, that’s Judeo-Christian.”

Listen:

Newcombe: I find it a phenomenon right now in our culture at large if you look at a lot of liberals and so-called progressives and so forth, let’s say even organizations like the ACLU, that supposedly are in favor of women’s rights and so forth, and yet these liberals by and large embrace Islam more than they do historic, traditional Christianity.

Spencer: It is ridiculous but it is very commonplace. I mean what we have really is that the left doesn’t really like America or western civilization and so I think that they see in Islam an another entity that doesn’t like western civilization and so they see it, in it an ally, and that’s essentially what’s going on.

ACT! For America Apoplectic After Muslim College Student Writes Article Condemning Violence

Arkansas State University student Abdullah Raslan penned a column for the school newspaper reflecting on the 9/11 attacks by strongly condemning violence and calling for interfaith reconciliation and understanding. “Living in the Bible Belt for the past three years and befriending many devoted Christians here on campus, I've learned that Islam and Christianity have a lot in common,” he wrote. “Both religions preach values and morals, stressing that violence is never the answer.”

But the anti-Muslim group ACT! for America has no interest in any form of interfaith dialogue, and instead sent to their members across the country Raslan’s article along with their line-by-line rebuttals written in all caps. Led by Brigitte Gabriel, ACT! For America is one of the most conspiratorial and virulent anti-Muslim groups in America. The membership email calls Raslan’s article illustrative of “information warfare” and suggests he wrote it using “the practice of taqiyya.”

Is the Muslim college student from Saudi Arabia, who wrote the column below, naïve, uninformed, or deliberately feeding us disinformation (the practice of “taqiyya”)?

We can’t know for sure. But regardless, this column, which appeared in the ASU newspaper, illustrates again how disinformation is being peddled to mislead Americans. Uninformed Americans are vulnerable to this “information warfare.”

Spencer Suggests The Media Are "Getting Some Money" To Positively Portray Muslims

Robert Spencer joined Janet Mefferd on Friday to discuss a new pamphlet he co-authored with David Horowitz called Islamophobia: Thought Crime of the Totalitarian Future [pdf], which claims that “‘Islamophobia’ is a hoax comparable to The Protocols of The Elders of Zion.” While speaking with Mefferd, Spencer alleged that the term “Islamophobia” was created in order to criminalize any criticism of Muslims, and maintained that “the media is getting some money” to represent Muslims in a positive light and smear anti-Muslim activists like himself. Spencer’s ally Pamela Geller made a similar case to Mefferd last week, ranting that groups monitoring anti-Muslim activists are trying to make her into “a big ole cow.”

He also stressed that freedom of religion shouldn’t be “considered absolute,” arguing that Islam is both a religion and “a political ideology” and “the political ideology is what is dangerous to Americans.”

Listen:

So I don’t know why nowadays freedom of religion is considered absolute especially since, as you point out Janet, we’re talking about a political ideology here and the political ideology is what is dangerous to Americans because it impinges upon our freedoms, our freedom of speech, our freedom of conscience, the idea of equality of rights of all people before the law and so on. That is the only reason why anybody is concerned about Islamic law. So if those political aspects were restricted then there would be no problem. And I don’t think it would restrict the freedom of religion to restrict the political aspects of Islam.

See they had a big public relations disaster on 9/11. They’ve turned it around with amazing skill and I can’t help but think that maybe media is getting some money for this, maybe there’s some other explanation for why everyone is in the tank and has accepted this manipulation.

Harvey: Progressives, Gays And Lesbians "All Hate Jesus Christ"

Mission America’s Linda Harvey used her “Remembering 9/11” program to do what she does best: attack gays and lesbians, feminists, progressives and Muslims. Harvey, who once lauded radical Islamists for their fanatical anti-gay views, said on her radio show that progressives are “aligned” with Muslim extremists out of their shared hatred of “the West,” “freedom” and “Jesus Christ.” She went on to say that feminists and gays and lesbians have also allied with radical Muslims “because they all hate Jesus Christ and His followers.”

Listen:

Harvey: How in the world can the Left be aligned with these folks? Well there’s a real simple answer I think, in that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. They all hate the actual Judeo-Christian heritage and those who uphold it, they hate the West, and of course we are not perfect we can look around and see some of our own problems, but they hate the ideology, they hate the freedom. It’s a spiritual thing, they hate Jesus Christ. This is why you have the homosexual and pro-abortion feminists remaining silent or actually being apologists for radical Islam. Hello, they would be the first people that in an Islamic state that would come under some level of oppression, why wouldn’t they be afraid of these people? No, because they all hate Jesus Christ and His followers.

Geller: Criticism Of Me Is "The Enforcing Of The Sharia"

Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs joined Janet Mefferd on Friday to promote her new book “Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide To The Resistance.” As a columnist for WorldNetDaily, which also published her book, Geller has publicized her ‘investigation’ into the “full extent of Muslim Brotherhood infiltration in the Department of Justice and its brazen pro-Muslim activities.” While speaking to Mefferd, Geller said that President Obama and the Department of Justice were both “aiding and abetting the restoring the universal caliphate”:

During her last appearance on Mefferd’s show Geller called herself a victim of a ‘blood libel,’ so it was no surprise that today she spent most of the program lashing out at her opponents. Geller told Mefferd that criticism of her is “the enforcing of the Sharia” and its “blasphemy laws.” “So while in Muslim countries you’re executed, non-Muslims are executed for blasphemy, here in America you’re not assassinated but you’re character is assassinated,” Geller said. “The people are cowed, cowed, that’s what they want you to be, they want you to be a big ole cow”:

In this book I address how you can fight the mosque-ing of your neighborhood, how you can fight the mosque-ing of your workplace, how you can fight the mosque-ing of your public school. You must speak up. You must not be cowed. And by the way when you speak up you will be called a ‘racist, Islamophobic, anti-Muslim bigot.’ And why is that? Because that is the enforcing of the Sharia. Under the Sharia if you speak candidly about Islam, if you speak critically about Islam, you are a ‘racist, Islamophobic, anti-Muslim bigot’ because it is blasphemy. These are blasphemy laws. Do not insult Islam, do not defame Islam, do not speak candidly about Islam. So while in Muslim countries you’re executed, non-Muslims are executed for blasphemy, here in America you’re not assassinated but you’re character is assassinated. This is how they shut people up. This is how they make—the people are cowed, cowed, that’s what they want you to be, they want you to be a big ole cow.

Anybody that speaks about these things gets criticized for it. look, I was on Fox & Friends yesterday for three minutes discussing my book and immediately the leftist shills and Islamic apologists like Media Matters, which is a Soros financed organization, went nuts that Fox is mainstreaming hate and radicalism because that’s the one thing they must achieve is a blackout. A blacklist of voices of freedom and voices of truth.

Boykin: "Persecution" Of Christian Soldiers, Politicians A Sign Of The End Times

Boykin: Persecution Of Christian Soldiers A Sign Of The End Times Former Lt. General Jerry Boykin has emerged as a Religious Right hero as a leading opponent of civil rights for American Muslims, fervent critic of President Obama, and a rigid supporter of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. Boykin also presents himself as the victim of anti-Christian persecution when he was reprimanded after he delivered a speech in uniform during which he said he was part of an “army of God” fighting “Satan,” and that the Muslim warlords he fought worshipped an “idol.”

Yesterday, in an interview with Janet Parshall, Boykin argued that the “persecution” of Christian soldiers and public figures was actually a sign of the End Times:

Boykin: Jesus tells us in Luke 21 that before all the signs of His return ultimately are completed that they will take us before kings and rulers and persecute us in His name. And that is, just scripture, that’s prophesy, and I think we’re seeing that persecution now of Christians, particularly of Christians in uniform, Christians that are prominent Christians, Christians that are in the public eye. That persecution is going to increase as we come closer to the time of Jesus’ return.

Boykin has consistently warned that Christians like himself were encountering discrimination and that religious soldiers will be negatively impacted by the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, telling the Christian Broadcasting Network that the “presence of people who are homosexual has a divisive effect” on the military as “one person who would demonstrate what I consider to be aberrant behavior can really tear up the integrity of the organization.” Now, it appears that this supposed persecution signals the Second Coming.

Emerson Claims "At Least Thirty to Forty Percent" of All Muslims Support Terrorism

Anti-Muslim extremists and dominionists have been finding a lot of common ground lately. We’ve already reported that Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy is becoming tight with Rick Joyner of the Oak Initiative. It was no surprise, then, to see anti-Muslim activist Steven Emerson of the Investigative Project on Terrorism speaking to Truth in Action Ministries’ Truth that Transforms with Jerry Newcombe yesterday. Until recently, Truth in Action was known as Coral Ridge Ministries, a far-right group led by the late D. James Kennedy, whose former executive director was dominionst George Grant. Emerson, discussing Muslims, told Newcombe:

If I had to guess, based on what I know, based on my experience and this is all anecdotal, I would say to you at least thirty to forty percent support cultural jihad. That is, at least, they support the notion that it’s ok to blow up a bus of Israelis, it’s ok to bomb the World Trade Center, it’s ok to impose the Sharia, the code of Islamic law, it’s ok to beat women or wives, as part of the Sharia.

According to the Pew Research Center, there are around 1.57 billion Muslims in the world. That means Emerson thinks there are between 471 million and 628 million Muslims who support terrorist attacks. In 2008, AFP reported on a Gallup poll of approximately 50,000 Muslims in forty countries, finding that support for terrorism was marginal, with 93% condemning the 9/11 attacks:

But the study, which Gallup says surveyed a sample equivalent to 90 percent of the world's Muslims, showed that widespread religiosity "does not translate into widespread support for terrorism," said Mogahed, director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies.

About 93 percent of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims are moderates and only seven percent are politically radical, according to the poll, based on more than 50,000 interviews.

But only seven percent of the billion Muslims surveyed -- the radicals -- condoned the attacks on the United States in 2001, the poll showed. Moderate Muslims interviewed for the poll condemned the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington because innocent lives were lost and civilians killed.

This isn’t the first time Emerson has made up statistics to demonize Muslims. Before Peter King’s congressional hearings on the radicalization of American Muslims, Emerson twisted figures from the Department of Justice to dishonestly hype the threat of homegrown Muslim terrorism, and FAIR notes that Emerson once tried, and failed, to pass off his own phony research as an FBI document to the Associated Press:

In 1997, for example, an Associated Press editor became convinced that Emerson was the "mother lode of terrorism information," according to a reporter who worked on a series that looked at American Muslim groups. As a consultant on the series, Emerson presented AP reporters with what were "supposed to be FBI documents" describing mainstream American Muslim groups with alleged terrorist sympathies, according to the project's lead writer, Richard Cole. One of the reporters uncovered an earlier, almost identical document authored by Emerson. The purported FBI dossier "was really his," Cole says. "He had edited out all phrases, taken out anything that made it look like his."

The Tennessean found that scapegoating Muslims has been a lucrative venture for Emerson: in 2008, the Investigative Project on Terrorism “paid $3,390,000 to SAE Productions for ‘management services.’ Emerson is SAE's sole officer.”

Boykin: "No Mosques In America"

Jerry Boykin appeared on Bryan Fischer’s show Focal Point yesterday where the two anti-Muslim activists found common ground in their belief that mosques should be banned in the United States. Boykin, who has appeared with Rick Perry, Sarah Palin, and Mike Huckabee, has launched some of the most sordid attacks against Muslim-Americans since he left the military, following an investigation that he violated rules due to his partisan and anti-Muslim rhetoric. He has argued that “Islam itself is not just a religion” and “should not be protected under the First Amendment,” so it is no surprise that he appeared with Fischer, who advocates banning the construction of mosques and barring First Amendment protections for Muslims.

While speaking with Fischer, Boykin declared, “no mosques in America.” He later added that Muslims do not have First Amendment rights because Islam “is not just a religion, it is a totalitarian way of life.”

Watch:

Fischer: What do you think we ought to do with regard to our immigration policies and with regard to issuing permits to build mosques in order to build mosques in order to deal with this threat, immigration and mosque building, what do you think we should do?

Boykin: Seal the borders and eliminate sanctuary cities and they’ll go home. No mosques in America. Islam is a totalitarian way of life; it’s not just a religion.

Fischer: Now how do you respond to the First Amendment? Now I believe the same thing that you do, we should not allow the building of any more mosques in America, everyone is a potential recruiting or training ground for terrorist activity. They will bring the First Amendment up, your response when people say they have a First Amendment right to build their mosque anywhere they want.

Boykin: If it’s a religion that’s the truth. But Islam, we need to think Sharia, it is not just a religion it is a totalitarian way of life. A mosque is an embassy for Islam and they recognize only a global caliphate, not the sanctity or sovereignty of the United States.

Fischer Gets Date Wrong As He Accuses Muslims For Celebrating 9/11

On Monday, Bryan Fischer announced his outrage that Muslims would be gathering for a "Family Day" to celebrate the end of Ramadan at a Six Flags amusement park in Texas that would take place on the anniversary of 9/11.  Fischer declared that the fact that Muslims would "hold a giant party [on 9/11] tells you everything you need to know about the religion of Islam" and called on Gov. Rick Perry to issue a condemnation of the event.

He also talked about it on his radio program on Tuesday where he said Muslims ought to at least have the decency to hang their heads in shame on 9/11 instead of organizing a big party in order to "rub our noses" in it:

Up to 3000 Muslims in Texas are expected to swarm a Six Flags amusement park in San Antonio on 9/11 for “Muslim Family Day.”

Yes, you heard that right. Muslims are going to hold a big party on the 10th anniversary of the Muslim attacks that resulted in the deaths of 3000 infidel American dogs.

Now I think this is just about as bad as it can possibly get. Imagine if you had Japanese who lived in Texas ... now imagine that they have a big giant hoedown and barbecue every year on December 7. Now the Japanese at least have had the decency to hang their heads in shame over a day that rightfully will live forever in infamy. But the Muslim community in Texas apparently is so brazen, they show absolutely no shame, and their intending instead to rub our noses in the whole mess.

Last night, Fischer issued this tweet admitting that he got the date wrong and that the event actually took place on September 4:

Joyner: "The Lord Is Using Islam" To Punish America for "Perversions" and "Abortions"

Rick Joyner has recently been collaborating closely with Frank Gaffney, one of the country’s leading anti-Muslim activists who called Joyner one of his heroes, and the two discussed the need for a House Anti-American Activities Committee, warned of the rise of “Chrislam,” and feared that Muslims are taking control over the “seven mountains” of influence.

Yesterday on “Prophetic Perspectives,” Joyner, who heads MorningStar Ministries and the Oak Initiative, said that “the Lord is using Islam” to send judgment on America and other countries “for their perversions and for their abortions” in the form of terrorist attacks and creeping Sharia. Joyner, who previously claimed that Hurricane Katrina was a “judgment from God” against homosexuality, asserted that Europe’s secular society has opened the continent up to God’s judgment in the form of oppression under Islamic rule.

Watch:

Sometimes God’s judgment, His discipline does come to us through other people, even through our enemies. And as I’ve shared and I will boldly say, I believe radical, extremist Islam is God’s judgment upon the nations for their perversions and for their abortions. I’m going to establish this, I know not many people are saying anything like that. But just as the Lord used the heathen nations around Israel to bring judgment upon Israel whenever they fell into apostasy, the Lord is using Islam in that way today. You don’t want Jesus? You don’t want Christianity? As many nations in Europe has said. We don’t want any semblance of religion or Christianity? Guess what they’re getting? They’re gonna get religion, they’re gonna get one they don’t want, and they’re gonna be oppressed by it. If they turn to the Lord this doesn’t have to happen.

"Twilight's Last Gleaming": America Is Doomed And Cannot Be Saved

Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church of Dallas is an anti-gay and anti-Muslim pastor who has generated attention in the past by going on the attack against Mitt Romney, urging Christians not to vote for him because of his Mormon faith and and for admitting that he'd vote for an incompetent Christian over a competent non-Christian if the two were running against one another.

But I expect that we'll be hearing a lot more about Jeffress considering that he is about to kick off a sermon series called "Twilight's Last Gleeming," beginning on 9/11, proclaiming that America is doomed and cannot be saved and that Christians need to see the nation's inevitable collapse as an opportunity to spread the Gospel:

As Jeffress told the Christian Post, the sermon series is based on a book that he has coming out next year for which Mike Huckabee wrote the foreward:

"Twilight's Last Gleaming" is actually based on my book coming out in January by Worthy Publishing. Mike Huckabee did the forward [sic] to the book, and the book is subtitled How to Make America's Last Days Your Best Days. In this series, what we're trying to do is help people realize that, ultimately, we are not going to save America.

America's days are numbered, because this world's days are numbered. But instead of reacting with despair and fear, Christians are to realize that while we cannot prevent the demise of our country, we can delay the demise of our country by being the salt and light Jesus commanded us to be. That's really what this series is about: how Christians can be salt and light in a decaying and darkening world.

I sure hope that America and the world still exist in January so that we can read all about how America and the world are doomed.

Right Wing Leftovers

  • The ACLJ pushes back against the reports that Jay Sekulow is making millions off the organization.
  • Michele Bachmann loses two key campaign staffers.
  • CWA's Penny Nance worries about incivility while asserting that "violence is nothing new for unions."
  • There is just something hilarious about reading a piece on the AFA's OneNewsNow about how the Religious Right has an image problem caused by their over-the-top rhetoric.
  • Case in point, the AFA's Bryan Fischer says Muslims should at least have the decency to hang their heads in shame on 9/11.
  • Finally, Gary Cass is really starting to give Fischer a run for his money as the Religious Right's most viciously anti-Muslim activist.

The Los Angeles Times profiles the International House of Prayer.   Bryan Fischer says "our next president must understand that the more devout a Muslim becomes ... the more of a threat he becomes to the national security of the United States."   FRC defends the Protect Life Act, saying it simply "ensures that Americans who want health care insurance with abortion coverage or supplemental abortion coverage can purchase it, but not with federal dollars."   Richard Land is demanding the Pentagon reverse the policy of allowing... This morning on the Today Show Mitt Romney and Chris Christie repeated their call for Rick Perry to disassociate himself from pastor Robert Jeffress because of the pastor’s denigration of Romney’s Mormon faith. Yesterday, Christie even compared Jeffress to “those folks in New Jersey who disparaged in both parties my decision to appoint a Muslim judge” and said that any “campaign that associates itself with that type of comment is beneath the office of President of the United States, in my view.” Ironically, one of the people who slammed Christie over his... Robert Jeffress’ criticism of the Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Mormon faiths has gained increasing attention since he endorsed and introduced Rick Perry at last week’s Values Voter Summit. Just as Jeffress disparages non-Protestant religions and the very concept of religious pluralism, he also has harsh words for gays and lesbians. In a sermon earlier this year called “What to Say to Those Who Are Gay,” Jeffress cited a study from the Netherlands to bolster his argument that gays are incapable of having long-term, monogamous relationships. As Jim Burroway notes... MORE

On AFA Today with Buster Wilson this morning, Bryan Fischer said he was stunned that Mitt Romney rebuked him, albeit not by name, for having crossed a line in civil debate and using “poisonous language.” As Kyle points out, Fischer has been playing the victim and defended himself during the same interview, saying, “Jesus used far more incendiary and inflammatory language than I have ever used.” Fischer told Wilson that he was on Romney’s “hit list” since the 2008 campaign and “didn’t anticipate that he would go after me” at the... During his address to the Values Voter Summit, Bryan Fischer made the same claims he always made: Islam is evil and Muslims are traitors, LGBT equality threatens freedom, and the Constitution protects only Christians (not Mormons). After posting clips from the speech of Fischer attacking gay rights and the theory of evolution, we decided to post his speech in full. Remember that presidential candidates Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich have all appeared on his show, along with past candidates Tim Pawlenty and Mike Huckabee. In addition, Fischer... Earlier this week, when we found out that Mitt Romney would be speaking directly before anti-gay, anti-Muslim, anti-Mormon extremist Bryan Fischer at the Values Voter Summit, we called on Romney to "prove us wrong" and call out Bryan Fischer. And today he did, even if not by name. The implication was clear when Mitt Romney said that the speaker following him, Fischer, crosses the line and uses "poisonous language." Watch: Our values ennoble the citizen, and they strengthen the nation. We should remember that decency and civility are values too. One of the... MORE

It’s that time of year again when anti-Muslim activists discuss the growing threat of halal foods. WorldNetDaily has published yet another exposé into the “march of Sharia” through the “growth of halal foods,” quoting American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer as an authority on the matter. Fischer, who has called American Muslims a “toxic cancer” on society and wants the U.S. to deport all Muslims, implied that the availability of halal foods is an illustration of “creeping” Sharia law: Specialty markets first supplied...
