This weekend, nearly every major GOP presidential candidate, along with the top two Republicans in the House of Representatives, will speak at the Values Voter Summit, an annual gathering of the leaders of the movement to integrate fundamentalist Christianity and American politics.
The candidates – Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich – and the congressmen – House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor – will join a who’s who of the far Right at the event. The organizers of... MORE

Apparently the National Religious Broadcasters is releasing a report about how companies and the internet are censoring Christians. The fact that Mat Staver's lawsuit against healthcare reform was tossed out of court is apparently evidence that healthcare reform's days are numbered. On a related note, Liberty Counsel has produced a new video explaining just how important it is. The Oregon state Republican Party may have removed some anti-gay language, but that doesn't mean much. Shockingly, FRC's Peter Sprigg opposes gay characters in "Archie" comics... MORE

Rick Perry says the Ten Commandments are "good policy and at the end of the day ... probably good politics." It looks like Janet Porter's Heartbeat Bill is heading to Kansas. The folks at Personhood Mississippi who are seeking out outlaw abortion insist that "obviously ... we're not taking away any rights." Bryan Fischer has re-worked his "Muslims are using 9/11 to celebrate" column in light of the fact that he completely got the day wrong. Finally, the Liberty Counsel's lawsuit against healthcare reform lost in court, but LC vows to... MORE

Yesterday, we discovered that David Barton has made multiple week-long appearances on Kenneth Copeland's "Believer's Voice of Victory" television program over the last several years and we started working our way through them, beginning with a series from last year entitled "Choose Life and The Blessing."
During the week-long series, Barton and Copeland focused on how people can curse and/or bless themselves based on how they vote for political candidates. For instance, Barton explained that by voting for a candidate who supports equality, you are actually bringing... MORE

Following a poor showing in Iowa, Tim Pawlenty dropped out of the presidential race. Apparently, the fact that he had back surgery is somehow going to help Rick Perry attack healthcare reform ... or something. Richard Viguerie hasn't liked any GOP candidate for a long time, but he likes Rick Perry. WorldNetDaily, on the other hand, does not like Perry. Barry Hankins, author of "Francis Schaeffer and the Shaping of Evangelical America," does not approve of the portrait of Schaeffer constructed by Ryan Lizza's in his profile of Michele Bachmann.... When Rick Perry was organizing his massive public prayer rally, we put in a lot of work chronicling the radical views of the activists with whom Perry was partnering.
But there are others with ties to Perry who were not involved in this effort and therefore never made it on to our list ... people like Jerry Boykin who believes that George Soros and the Council on Foreign Relations worked to collapse the economy in order to help Barack Obama win the election and that passage of healthcare reform legislation is really just cover for Obama to establish a private Brownshirt army loyal only... Focus on the Family rejoices that CPAC has given GOProud the boot. On a related note, this might help explain CPAC's new-found hostility to the group. A federal judge has ruled that healthcare reform does not fund abortion, a key ruling that allows a defamation lawsuit against the Susan B. Anthony List to move forward. Gary Cass says there is no point in creating a "Religious Freedom Envoy" to monitor Islamic countries because "the only way that Islam is going to stop doing what it's doing is when it's defeated." Finally, Peter LaBarbera... MORE
