Earlier this year, President Obama announced his support for state measures aimed at banning ex-gay therapy for minors. The Family Research Council predictably reacted quite reasonably, sending a fundraising letter that arrived yesterday urging supporters to help them stop “sexual brainwashing of our children by our government” and thwart Obama’s plan “to get as many American children into the funnel of the sexual revolution as possible and make sure there’s no possible escape.” Along with the letter, FRC enclosed a “Comprehensive List of LGBTQ+... On Friday’s edition of “Sandy Rios In The Morning,” ex-gay activist Christopher Doyle advertised the upcoming “Safe Exit Summit” [PDF], a Washington, D.C., event honoring “Ex-Gay Awareness Month.” Prominent Religious Right groups including the Family Research Council, the American Family Association and Liberty Counsel are sponsoring the event, which includes a congressional lobby day, speeches and worship sessions. Doyle congratulated Rios on winning the summit’s “Friend of Ex-Gays Freedom Award” last year, which she said she has... MORE

Pat Robertson, a big fan of ex-gay pseudo-therapy, fielded a question from a “700 Club” viewer today who asked if God could “take away this same-sex attraction” and “change a homosexual to straight.” Confusing sexual orientation with gender identity, Robertson said that his network once profiled the transformation of an “absolutely gorgeous” woman who “was a man” until “the Lord touched him, changed him and now he is marrying and has some children and has a very happy life.” “It is a miracle but God can do it,... When a “700 Club” viewer asked Pat Robertson today how she can convince her daughter, who recently introduced her to her girlfriend, to “give up the LGBT lifestyle,” the televangelist told the viewer to “pray that God will straighten her out” because “it may be a phase she’s going through.” “A little teenage girl doesn’t know what dress she’s supposed to wear much less what kind of sex she’s supposed to be,” he said, seemingly confusing sexual orientation with gender identity. Robertson then lamented the... MORE

At an anti-marriage-equality press conference today at the National Press Club, ex-gay activist Janet Boynes claimed that media outlets and the White House are shutting out ex-gays because they fear that they will “debunk” the entire gay rights movement. “Why don’t you see me on CNN or ‘Today’ or MSNBC or ‘Good Morning America’?” she asked. “Because they have all the gays and lesbians on their show, but if I come on the show I will tear down their belief system. That’s my goal, to debunk everything that they are saying to be... MORE

Dan Calabrese, the editor-in-chief of Herman Cain’s website CainTV, warned last week that President Obama will keep gay people “in a state of demonic oppression” since he backs efforts to curtail the practice of conversion therapy on minors. Warning that homosexuality is “demonic” and that a gay person is in need of “a deliverance minister [who] can help him to get rid of the evil spirit,” Calabrese claimed that “it is not Obama’s place to try to keep them in spiritual bondage.” “Any who supports a bill like this is saying that... Accuracy In Media’s Cliff Kincaid is incensed about President Obama’s recent statement that he supports efforts to bar the practice of sexual orientation and gender identity conversion therapy on minors, writing today in BarbWire that “we are now seeing Obama and the progressives, including the homosexual movement, making a raw power grab for our kids.” Arguing that measures to limit the pseudo-scientific practice will help “weaken the United States,” Kincaid writes that “a form of ‘conversion therapy’ will be retained, but used on those...
