Glenn Beck Wants The Bible Taught In Public Schools Because It Has Been 'The Only Textbook We Needed'
SUBMITTED BY: Kyle Mantyla, Thursday 04/24/2014, 11:04am
Glenn Beck has been on a kick recently hailing the Bible as the solution to every single one of our nation's problems, so it comes as no surprise to see him now throwing his support behind an effort led by Hobby Lobby president Steve Green to get the Bible taught in public schools all over the nation. Hailing the Green family as "true Americans" during his morning meeting, Beck turned directly to the camera and urged viewers to shop at Hobby Lobby in order to support them because "these people are the best." On last night's television program, Beck then interviewed... MORE

When the Obama administration proposed last month an in increase in funding to states that “would be distributed to local school districts and other partner providers” that offer pre-school programs, CNS News editor-in-chief Terry Jeffrey responded by accusing President Obama of “federalizing 4-year-olds” and putting them in the “custody of government employees.” Yesterday, Jeffrey took his over-the-top claims of forced pre-schooling and government indoctrination to The Janet Mefferd Show, where he said pre-school and the entire public school system... During the controversy over Hobby Lobby’s refusal to provide its employees with contraception insurance coverage and the outrage over Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson’s being denied his supposed constitutional right to appear on television, we witnessed conservative activists stretch the limits of the meaning of religious freedom. As Justice Scalia put it in Employment Division v. Smith, such an exaggerated view of religious freedom serves “to make the professed doctrines of religious belief superior to the law of the land, and in effect to permit every citizen to become a... WorldNetDaily commentator Patrice Lewis is fearful that Common Core, with its “brainwashing” and “indoctrination techniques,” is bringing Nazism to America. According to Lewis, a biology teacher she heard about from a friend is telling her students to “sing a song praising Common Core,” which makes the teacher just like Hitler. Lewis adds that a public school is like a totalitarian “jail” that turns students into “zombies.” Some friends came to us this week, troubled, to ask our advice. It seems their youngest son came home from... MORE

Laurie Higgins of the American Family Association-affiliated Illinois Family Institute is a big fan of Russia’s “gay propaganda” law, and she writes today that the United States should impose a similar law here in order to restrict the work of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). She claims that GLSEN is behind the “censorship” of anti-gay views, because apparently bigotry is needed in schools for the sake of balance, and urges the US to adopt a Russia-style propaganda law in order to curb GLSEN’s “totalitarian” grip over... Americans For Truth About Homosexuality director Peter LaBarbera said yesterdat that the U.S. should copy Russia’s “homosexual propaganda” law in order to censor shows like “Good Luck Charlie,” the Disney show that recently came under attack from Religious Right activists for featuring a same-sex couple. “Look at the Disney show, they are promoting lesbianism to kids who don’t even know what sex is yet,” LaBarbera said in an interview with the American Family Association’s Sandy Rios. “How are kids going to process that information... Lady Theresa Thombs, the Republican candidate for the Texas State Board of Education who rails against evolution, “socialist higher education” and “Devil worshipers,” today shared a Facebook post calling for “Straight Pride.” When several commenters mocked her post, Thombs responded that she doesn’t hate gay people and only thinks that gay people are sinners, just like murderers: “We are not bigoted or hateful. Jesus said to love the sinner but hate the sin. God gives you free will to do what you want. But murder is a sin, but even a murderer... MORE
