Family Research Council vice president Jerry Boykin yesterday chatted with Frank Gaffney for an entire program about the forthcoming “Islamic Republic of America” where Boykin’s granddaughters are forced to wear burkas. After his usual anti-Muslim ramblings, Boykin explained that the Islamic conquest of America can only take place once people lose “traditional American values.” He argued that the Obama administration is trying to get rid of such values by repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and the ban on women in combat, which he linked to an increase in... The folks at Liberty Counsel are quite upset about an email sent by a lieutenant colonel which called out anti-gay groups, and as you might expect, Matt Barber is already blaming the incident on the “homosexualization of the United States military” that began following the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.
Barber, an ardent supporter of the military’s then-ban on gay service members, also told Faith & Freedom cohost and Liberty Counsel head Mat Staver that the email is part of a “Marxist” attempt “to marginalize people with whom they disagree... MORE

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is to be honored by a far-right group whose leader has a history of comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler and attacking gays and lesbians.
Abbot is to receive an honor from two local affiliates of the U.S. Pastor’s Council, the Texas Pastor Council and the Houston Area Pastor Council. It’s unclear to what extent the groups are “groups”: all three share a website and are led by a single man, extremist pastor Dave Welch.
The groups are also planning to honor Paul Pressler, who helped lead the “conservative resurgence”... MORE

After losing his bid for a second term in Congress, despite a more favorable district, Allen West is continuing his work as a fulltime conservative blowhard (but without a taxpayer-funded salary). West is working at PJ Media and appeared yesterday on Washington Watch with Family Research Council leaders Tony Perkins and Jerry Boykin, where he criticized the lifting of the bans on women in combat and gays and lesbians in the military.
West told Boykin that “the liberal progressive left” is “coming at the military so viciously and vehemently because they want to tear down that... MORE

The Pentagon’s recent decision to extend certain benefits to the same-sex partners of service members following the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell has provoked the ire of the American Family Association, which is upset that they may now be eligible for burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
A new action alert from the AFA asks members to email their representatives in Congress, telling them that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has “effectively devastated our nation's military by allowing the ‘gay agenda’ to take priority over national defense.”
The... MORE

We’re used to hearing claims by right-wing activists that gay rights supporters are “heterophobic.” Former chaplain and gay-exorcist Gordon Klingenschmitt argued along those lines in an interview today, where he maintained that same-sex partner benefits represent “discrimination against heterosexuals.”
While speaking with OneNewsNow, an affiliate of the American Family Association, Klingenschmitt criticized Defense Secretary Leon Panetta’s decision to offer some — but not all — military benefits to same-sex spouses. Klingenschmitt said such a... MORE

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council has joined American Family Association’s Buster Wilson in linking the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell to the military’s suicide rate. Discussing the Pentagon’s new policy on allowing women to serve in combat units yesterday on his radio program, Perkins said that the Obama administration’s work in “driving Christianity out [and] putting homosexuality in” are “adding additional stress” that leads to a higher rate of suicide.
Perkins cited no evidence to back up his claim, but as with his... MORE
