When Bob Vander Plaats and Terry Branstad were locked in a tight race for Iowa's Republican gubernatorial nomination last year, it came as quite a shock with the influential Iowa Family Policy Council publicly declared that it would never support Brandstad if he won the nomination:
The public refusal of an influential social conservative group to support the eventual GOP nominee for governor is causing long-term damage to the party and could result in a second term for Gov. Chet Culver, Republican leaders said Tuesday.
At an event originally billed as a rally to oppose same-sex marriage,... MORE

The second portion of Gov. Rick Perry's "The Response" prayer rally was dedicated to "repentance for the shedding of innocent blood" by which they meant abortion. Which was why they brought anti-choice activists Alveda King, Lila Rose, Harry Jackson and Susan Tyrrell on stage to publicly pray to see the end of abortion in America:

On August 6, Texas Gov. Rick Perry will host The Response, a “prayer rally” in Houston, along with the extremist American Family Association and a cohort of Religious Right leaders with far-right political ties. While the rally’s leaders label it a "a non-denominational, apolitical Christian prayer meeting," the history of the groups behind it suggests otherwise. The Response is powered by politically active Religious Right individuals and groups who are dedicated to bringing far-right religious view, including degrading views of gays and lesbians... MORE

It has been a few months since Bryan Fischer demanded that an animal be put to death for having killed a human being, but with news that hiker has been killed by a bear in Yellowstone National Park, Fischer is renewing his demand that we take action against "these Jeffrey Dahmers of the animal kingdom" and start shooting each and every bear on sight:
The Old Testament has been preserved for us, in part, so that we may see how God deals with nations. It’s not that its prescriptions are to applied woodenly or literally today, but there are principles of public policy... MORE

On today's episode of "Wallbuilders Live" the topic of discussion was whether churches ought to be allowed to discriminate in their hiring practices. Not surprisingly, David Barton argued that they should and, as is his tendency, explained that there is nothing wrong with discrimination because even Jesus says the government is not supposed to be involved in this issue anyway:
Now discrimination today is always a bad word a hundred percent of the time, but it simply means making a choice between or making a difference between. And discrimination means I am going to... MORE

In June, Janet Porter's radical anti-choice "Heartbeat Bill" passed the Ohio State House but then stalled when the state legislature recessed without the bill being taken up by the Senate.
But the Legislature will return in September and Porter is already planning a rally to welcome them back that will continue her efforts to join together Religious Right leaders with prophetic dominionists by mixing the likes of Wendy Wright [formerly] of Concerned Women for America and Rick Scarborough from Vision America in with Porter's prophetic pal Rick Joyner of The Oak Initiative:

Apparently Rick Perry doesn’t take a hard enough line against abortion rights for the anti-choice Susan B. Anthony List.
Perry is trying to make amends with the Religious Right over concerns about his opposition to marriage equality.
Just 6,000 people have RSVP’d so far for Perry’s The Response.
A Houston judge dismissed the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s lawsuit against Perry.
Lastly, Kenneth Copeland will be sending a bus to The Response, no word yet if he will be chartering his $20 million private jet.
