Bradlee Dean Has Epic Meltdown over Minnesota's Gay Marriage Law

Minnesota-based Religious Right activist/rock star Bradlee Dean went ballistic on his radio show yesterday in response to his state’s new marriage equality law. Dean warned that Gov. Mark Dayton, who signed the same-sex marriage bill into law, is at “war with God” and is “about to find out what it’s like as to what the fallout is when you throw rocks towards God, he’s going to learn how gravity works.” He added that Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who backed his state’s marriage equality law, and other pro-gay rights “criminals” will face divine justice as well:

Dean even seems to believe that every gay person in the country showed up for yesterday’s celebration of the marriage equality law in order to “push their propaganda and their agendas on the American people,” just as Saul Alinsky commanded.

“They come from all over the country to do this so what you’ve seen was probably the whole lump of the population of the homosexual community in the United States of America,” Dean said.

After lamenting about the “pansies” in the Minnesota legislature, Dean and his co-hosts began discussing the “Safe and Supportive Minnesota Schools Act,” an LGBT-inclusive anti-bullying bill, which he said is proof that “radical homosexuals” are part of a “UN global agenda” to “destroy the family.”

Dean then channeled his inner-Antoine Dodson and claimed that gays are coming after your wife and kids: “Go home, look at your wife and look at your kids, because now that’s what they’re coming for.”

He even lashed out at “my good friend Alex Jones,” who is apparently not anti-gay enough for Dean, despite his belief that chemicals in juices are turning kids gay.

Dean concluded the show by warning that gay rights advocates are creating a “totalitarian system” by pushing the anti-bullying legislation, fearing that “pharmaceutical giants” might diagnose anti-gay activists as mentally ill.

“The conservatives on the airwaves in Minneapolis are sitting there playing games with the homosexuals because they think it’s a puppy to be played with when in fact it’s a stinking water rat filled with rabies,” he concluded.

Thanks to RWW reader Matthew for the tip!

Rios: Schools No Longer Teach Reading and Writing, Now Just Promote Homosexuality

On Monday, the American Family Association’s Sandy Rios hosted Linda Harvey of Mission America to criticize the Day of Silence, the anti-bullying event which Harvey has previously described as dangerous and blasphemous.

Rios, who once said that test scores are dropping as a result of schools “teaching” homosexuality, kicked off the program by arguing that public schools no longer instruct students in subjects like “reading, writing, cursive, spelling, grammar [and] punctuation,” but are instead completely dedicated to “cramming, twisting, perverting all academic subjects to the way of supporting homosexuality.”

Rios: That’s an advertisement for this Friday’s Day of Silence in American public schools. You know there was a day when American public schools actually taught reading, writing, cursive, spelling, grammar, punctuation, English literature, British literature, American civilization, but no more. For the last twenty-five years the National Education Association has been cramming, twisting, perverting all academic subjects to the way of supporting homosexuality. Now in an activist move to really further intimidate anyone who would object to it they incorporated a few years ago what’s called the Day of Silence.

The two also latched onto conspiracy theories that common core standards will lead to the “promotion of homosexuality” and criticized schools and publishing houses for offering “pro-homosexual novels.”

Rios: Common Core, do you know anything about what they’re doing to promote homosexuality? Do they have any stated goals with this?

Harvey: I don’t know the details, I do know that everyone believes that will be part of it as they get into the more social science areas, I think they are just in English language arts and math at this point, isn’t that the case? Even English language arts, oh my goodness, the choices for reading pro-homosexuals novels out there are vast; the publishing industry is going crazy. I have found many, many school districts recommend these on a selected and chosen school reading list and so you really have to watch for that.

Rios: If no other way, and it isn’t the only way, I guarantee you if you got kids in the public school this isn’t the only way but the reading lists, the suggested reading lists are enough to make your ears just smoke.

Harvey said that conservatives should “be rolling our eyes” at claims that LGBT youth face bullying and claimed that parents should not allow their children to “witness” the Day of Silence.

Harvey: Students pledge to be silent all day because they feel that as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered [sic] students or allies, that’s other kids, that they have been silenced over the years; many of us will be rolling our eyes at that one with the loud homosexual militancy in our culture right now. But that’s what they’re claiming and they’re saying that the issue of bullying is so rampant and it is traditional values that is causing all of these kids to be bullied, it’s causing hatred and that they need to engage in a silent protest against that. And of course we’re all going: what? You can prevent bullying and stand against bulling without endorsing homosexuality but our kids are being manipulated into thinking that this is a social justice issue and that they can just make this into a protest day and it’s this Friday in many schools, April 19.

Harvey: What we are saying is find out about your school’s position on this, call your schools and say, ‘are you going to allow students to be silent to recognize this Day of Silence, this pro-homosexual day, Friday April 19 or any other day that they designation…are you going to allow to remain silent to protest the Day of Silence,’ and if so keep your kids home. We suggest that you not let your children have to sit there in class and witness teachers condoning this, other students being allowed to be silent in class. This is political propaganda and it’s manipulating an issue of kids. Everybody is concerned about bullying and it is manipulating kids’ compassion but it is all for supporting homosexuality. So we’re suggesting to people, if that’s the situation, keep your kids at home.

Rios: How do you think this issue has progressed in public schools? I wouldn’t of thought it could get much worse but what are we seeing now about the propaganda in our public schools?

Not only should parents pull their kids out of school on the Day of Silence, but according to Harvey, they should remove their children from the public school system altogether as the influence of gay “propaganda” in schools is now “beyond belief.”

Rios: How do you think this issue has progressed in public schools, I wouldn’t of thought it could get much worse, but what are we seeing now about the propaganda in our public schools?

Harvey: It’s beyond belief. I am very discouraged and I would urge any parent out there…if you are a parent and you have any ability at all to move your children to another schooling situation, Christian schooling, homeschooling, please to do so. You do not know all your children are being exposed to, this propaganda is throughout. Our kids are being told in so many ways, if it’s not direct instructional time it’s through their peers at school, that homosexuality is like race, it’s a social justice issue, which we know is not true, people do not have to be involved in homosexual behavior. This undermines the word of God, at the very bottom line your Christian kids; everything around them is undermining the clear instructions of the word of God.

Rios: Even if your kids are in so-called safe areas: conservative districts, conservative areas of the country; in their textbooks, the influence of their teachers who are part of the National Education Association, it’s really a very dangerous situation, I’m with you on that. There was a time when I used to think it was pretty outrageous to insist that Christian parents remove their kids from public schools, that seemed very extreme to me, but I have come a long way, I really am at this point where I would be frightened really to have my kids in public school.

Harvey: Day of Silence 'Manipulating' Kids to 'Enter A Lifestyle Which Itself Will Be Incredibly Harmful To Them'

The Religious Right’s anti-anti-bullying efforts are beginning to swing into high gear as the Day of Silence, which is run by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and centers on making schools safer for LGBT students, approaches on April 19.

Mission America’s Linda Harvey in her radio bulletin today once again criticized the day of action and called on families to keep their kids away from school that day.

The boycott campaign is backed by anti-gay groups such as Liberty Counsel, Concerned Women for America and Faith2Action, which urge public schools to resist “GLSEN's socio-political goals and its controversial, unproven, and destructive theories on the nature and morality of homosexuality.”

Harvey warns that the Day of Silence “has become a central showpiece in this homosexual agenda in our schools” and offers “inaccurate and harmful information in schools about homosexuality.”

Rather than “preventing harm to kids,” Harvey warns the Day of Silence “encourages more kids to approve of or enter a lifestyle which itself will be incredibly harmful to them. So instead of allowing kids to be manipulated, it’s a good idea to keep your kids at home that day.”

“The compassionate hearts of kids are manipulated into approving of deviant lifestyles and practices,” Harvey states, maintaining that gays and lesbians do “not need to be involved in such behavior and God can rescue anyone who wants a different life.”

We’ve been telling you for several weeks about the pro-homosexual Day of Silence and why Christian families are staying home from school that day. Here’s a little more background: for a number of years Christian groups and parents nationwide have increasingly become concerned about the growth of inaccurate and harmful information in schools about homosexuality. The Day of Silence, coming up on or around Friday, April 19, has become a central showpiece in this homosexual agenda in our schools.

My overwhelming concern about this day centers around three things: 1) It encourages sympathy for homosexuality, which is wrong; 2) it implies that no one can object to homosexuality without being hateful and that’s also incorrect; 3) it does all this while pretending to be about justice and preventing harm to kids. The truth is that this is victim posturing that encourages more kids to approve of or enter a lifestyle which itself will be incredibly harmful to them. So instead of allowing kids to be manipulated, it’s a good idea to keep your kids at home that day.

We’ve called this the Day of Silence Walk Out and you can find out more at DOSWalkOut.net. Why did they start this Day of Silence protest to begin with? Students sometimes even have tape over their mouths and they pledge to remain silent all day. Why? Because they claim that homosexuals have been routinely silenced and victimized and don’t have a voice. You may be thinking, now hold on just a minute! Indeed, it’s a typical leftist victim strategy. Not that we don’t sympathize with any student who is bullied for any reason but this is pure political propaganda, manipulating a sensitive situation and we don’t have to allow our kids to sit there in class while sometimes even the teachers are going along with this.

Unlike the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) would have you believe, schools, parents and kids do not have to condone immoral and harmful behaviors like homosexuality and gender bending to prevent or stand up against bullying. This is a diversionary tactic. High moral sexuality standards are helpful, not hateful. The goal of these adult radicals though is to use vulnerable kids to carry this inaccurate message for them. Meanwhile, the compassionate hearts of kids are manipulated into approving of deviant lifestyles and practices.

So when you stand up against misinformation remember you are standing against behavior, not against the person. That person does not need to be involved in such behavior and God can rescue anyone who wants a different life.

Harvey: Day of Silence Promotes 'An Abomination'

It’s that time of year again when Linda Harvey of Mission America attacks and vilifies the Day of Silence, this time arguing in her radio bulletin that the anti-bullying event actually bullies Christian and promotes “an abomination,” beseeching parents and grandparents to “keep kids home that day if the Day of Silence is going to be a big deal in that school.”

On April 19 or thereabouts, homosexual activists and their allies will once again stage a silent day of protest in schools against high moral standards. This is what GLSEN’s Day of Silence is all about. GLSEN is the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network and they are in charge of this pro-homosexual day even though it was supposedly led by students. Mission America is asking you as a Christian family, if you have children or grandchildren in the public schools to keep kids home that day if the Day of Silence is going to be a big deal in that school. The national day is scheduled for Friday, April 19, although it can vary from school to school. For those of us who truly have a Christian worldview, we do not accept the terms, definitions and claims of the advocates of homosexuality, like the claim that standing up against homosexuality and calling it a sin is hateful and is similar to bully. No, it’s not.

We say that God teaches us that homosexual behavior is an abomination and this information is good news and can be a life saver. No one needs to be involved in this behavior and God can rescue anyone; our God is fully able to do that. Day of Silence supporters have accepted the premise that morality leading to man-woman marriage causes people to bully other people; we say that bullies cause bullying and that high standards don’t result in bullying but actually help the situation by giving kids the guidance they desperately need. These insults are tactics of intimidation to get people to remain silent about this. We will not silent but it’s good to speak out on a day other than the so-called Day of Silence.

Why avoid the Day of Silence? If students are going to be permitted to honor these harmful and inaccurate claims by being allowed to be silent when called on in class and if these smears against Christians and this attempt to hide the truth from young people are going to be allowed to stand unchallenged then we will honor God by not implying by our presence that we agree. What causes real harm to kids? Being deprived of the chance to hear all the facts about homosexuality and gender confusion; being told there is only one acceptable viewpoint on this and any other objections are based in hate. Well we say exactly the opposite: that those who deny the truth are those who hate.

Camenker: No Proof that Bullying Targets Gay Kids, 'If There Is Such a Thing'

MassResistance head Brian Camenker joined Sandy Rios of the American Family Association yesterday to attack the Department of Education for citing the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network’s School Climate Survey, which he labeled as “propaganda,” in a memorandum.

He told Rios that the survey on anti-LGBT bullying is “not scientific at all” and doubted its claims “about how transgender kids and homosexual kids — if there is such a thing — are harassed and everything.”

Rios: GLSEN is behind a lot of the thinking here, the Gay, Lesbian, Straight [Education Network] and that was founded by the Obama so-called safe schools czar Kevin Jennings.

Camenker: Right and it has a very sorted history of really radical homosexual activism regarding kids. One of the things that this directive cites is GLSEN’s so-called School Climate Survey, which is this national survey talking about how transgender kids and homosexual kids — if there is such a thing — are harassed and everything. But if you look at the way that survey is created, it’s not scientific at all, it’s self-selected by the gay clubs that are run by these gay activist people and there is nothing scientific about it. It’s basically propaganda. It’s run by this organization, GLSEN, that promotes these things in the public schools across the country and our government officials are using that as if it were real.

Camenker and Rios even talked about how they started doubting their own sanity as more and more educators use “ludicrous nonsense” when discussing LGBT issues in schools.

Rios: Brian, are there any times in the last ten years or so that you have questioned your own sanity? Have you ever just gotten confused by all that surrounds you?

Camenker: You know, it’s funny you should say that because I could remember in the beginning when I was dealing with the public schools that my kids were going to and you’d be surrounded by all of these people that believed and were talking about such ludicrous nonsense that sometimes you would, you’d say: maybe I’m crazy. You take these serious educators, at least I thought so back then, who were talking about all of this stuff very seriously, yeah, it drives you mad almost.

After the interview, Rios said she weeps for LGBT youth and warned that pro-gay rights lawmakers and advocates, including President Obama, “will in fact answer at some point and some day for the things that they’re doing.”

This is our future, just in case you were sleeping, this is our future. I think I’m like, buddy, when I think about the kids I’m talking angrily but honestly I could just weep, I could just weep. If you see the pictures in Brian’s missive for MassResistance, if you see those kids, I just can hardly bear it. I remember what Jesus said about what we did to our kids: Better than a millstone be tied around our neck and that we be thrown in the bottom of a pool of water than to hurt little, innocent children. The other part of this is I would not want to be in the feet of these legislators or the shoes of these homosexual activists, wouldn’t want to be in their shoes, or the shoes of this President, who will in fact answer at some point and some day for the things that they’re doing.

Linda Harvey Compares Wearing Pro-Gay Rights T-Shirts to Bullying

Mission America’s Linda Harvey has consistently claimed that anti-bullying efforts that include preventing bullying against LGBT and LGBT-perceived students will lead to discrimination against straight, Christian students at the hands of “destructive” and “criminal” activists in the “gaystapo.” Of course, she and her other Religious Right anti-anti-bullying activists have never produced any actual evidence that this was occurring, but since she claims to be an ardent defender of students’ First Amendment rights, we wondered how she would react to a dispute in Celina, Ohio, regarding the rights of students to wear t-shirts supportive of gay rights:

The debate at Celina High School started after two female high school students celebrated the high school's "Twin Day" last week by wearing shirts to school that read "Lesbian 1" and "Lesbian 2" on the back. They were promptly asked to remove the T-shirts, according to students there.

On Tuesday, some 20 students decided to show their support of the girls by wearing their own T-shirts to school. The shirts read: "I support..." with a photo of a rainbow. "Express yourself."

Jimmy Walter, a sophomore at the public high school, says he organized the T-shirts in defense of his older sister, one of the female students who wore the Twin Day shirts. "My sister got yelled at and screamed at [by administrators], and she was basically told she was unwanted at the school because she was gay," he says.

"[Our high] school promotes their pro-life club called the 'Students for Life". They have their own shirts, which have a fetus and promotes pro-life," Warner wrote on Reddit, in a post about the incident that has now gone viral on the social news site. "How is that not considered "political"?

While Harvey has previously argued that students who oppose gay equality should not be “intimidated into self-censoring their First Amendment rights,” naturally, she believes that schools should prohibit pro-gay rights t-shirts…just like they prohibit bullying.

She went on to argue that “if schools allow views on homosexuality to be aired at all, then it always shall be to discourage this behavior and these false identities,” and that schools should make gay students “get the counseling they need.”

We teach our children not to be bystanders if they see someone bullied, likewise responsible grownups should not be bystanders as children are presented harmful, misleading and increasingly corrupting ideas. For instance, should a school allow explicit pro-abortion t-shirts? Absolutely not, because even most liberals know in their heart that abortion is a horrible practice, in fact they do everything they can to keep blinders on about its reality so their consciences don’t have to wrestle with the violence involved. There is objective truth, right and wrong, and sometimes our schools seem to have forgotten that. The same is true about homosexuality, if schools allow views on homosexuality to be aired at all, then it always shall be to discourage this behavior and these false identities. If the truth was being told about this behavior, it would be obvious why it should be discouraged and any teen struggling with these feelings would get the counseling they need.

Harvey: Parents must 'Protect Their Children' from Schools with Transgender Teachers and Inclusive Policies

After urging parents to withdraw their children from schools which have bullying-prevention programs that cover anti-LGBT bullying, Linda Harvey of Mission America is now telling parents to consider keeping their children from any school with any LGBT-inclusive policy at all. Harvey on her radio commentary discussed the case of an Illinois school board that rescinded a measure, which had been approved with unanimous support, to ensure the safety of transgender students. While that board repealed their policy, Harvey warned that more schools “are starting to buy in to the monstrous idea that some children should be supported as they try to flip their biological genders,” who she said “need compassion and help, not a stamp of approval.” “These children need help, not an open door into this lifestyle,” Harvey claimed, and she went on to say that parents should look into removing their children from schools with transgender-inclusive policies and transgender teachers in order to “protect their children and if needed move them to an environment where they won’t be subjected to outright lies and corruption.”

Most of you are aware by now of the push to get our kids to accept homosexuality in our schools, in the media and even in some sadly misguided churches. But are you aware of how rapidly another agenda is moving in right behind this one? I’m talking about transgenderism, you know, boys dressing as girls, calling themselves by girls’ names, and vice versa. Amazingly, public school educators are starting to buy in to the monstrous idea that some children should be supported as they try to flip their biological genders. Instead of enabling this disordered behavior, we should be standing strong against such conduct and making it clear to all students that this is a path they do not want to travel. These kids need compassion and help, not a stamp of approval.

It’s truly sad when there are students are so confused and troubled enough that they want to challenge the very basis of their biology and anatomy, their genders. These children need help, not an open door into this lifestyle. But the homosexual lobby and the big teachers unions have convinced a growing number of educators that there is nothing wrong with this, in some schools there are even teachers who themselves are transvestites or who have had gender-change surgery. It’s troubling when people who so easily waffle on basic ethical questions are in charge of our children’s education. When moral anarchy threatens to become the new normal, it’s up to parents to protect their children and if needed move them to an environment where they won’t be subjected to outright lies and corruption. These bizarre trends will only end if we speak out where we can and vote in new leadership where needed in these tax-funded schools. Please pray friends about what God would have you do if this comes up in your community.

Liberty Counsel Opposes, but Doesn't Understand, 'Mix It Up Day'

October 30 is "Mix It Up at Lunch Day" which encourages students to "move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch." The point of the effort is to break up cliques and get students to spend time with different groups of people, but because it is a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Religious Right vehemently opposes it, falsely claiming that "it’s just another thinly veiled attempt to promote the homosexual agenda."

Today, Liberty Counsel's Matt Barber and Steve Crampton weighed in to warn about the dangers of "Mix It Up" day ... despite obviously having absolutely no idea what it is actually about, as Crampton bizarrely asserted that it was a day "where boys can wear girls clothes [or] pretend to be homosexual" or even dress up like an uptight, judgmental Christian who tells everyone they are going to Hell in order to "make fun of Christianity by mocking it":

Linda Harvey Suggests Parents Withdraw Children from Schools with Anti-Bullying Programs that Protect LGBT Youth

Mission America’s Linda Harvey notoriously urged parents last year to refuse care for their children from openly gay doctors and nurses, and today on her radio show told parents that they should consider removing their children from schools which have anti-bullying programs that affirm and protect LGBT students. A consistent and rancorous opponent of such bullying-prevention efforts who wishes that school counselors can practice ex-gay therapy, Harvey repeated her claims that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice and not a sexual orientation and warned that schools are teaching “false and immoral” beliefs about homosexuality through anti-bullying programs. She insisted that if parents cannot have their children removed from classes that discuss the issue of anti-gay bullying then they might want to consider withdrawing their children from the school altogether.

There are some blatantly false ideas being taught in our schools manipulating the very real concerns of kids and parents about bullying and harassment. Kids are learning to embrace the sexual orientation identify concept which holds that some people are born gay, lesbian or transgender or even bisexual and there’s no way out, now logically how can anyone be born bisexual, doesn’t the very idea of bisexual imply choice, which the gay agenda promoters deny? So parents, what can you do about such nonsense? First of all you can request copies of any upcoming school unit where kids might learn about homosexuality. This applies not just to public schools and Christian schools as well unfortunately because approval and respect for the homosexual lifestyle is creeping into Christian teaching a lot more than we would like.

In particular, look at any lessons planned on preventing bullying, that’s where much of this agenda is packaged. If you find what I’m afraid you’re going to find here’s how it will go: there will be worthwhile sections about not being an uninvolved bystander in a bullying situation, about always contacting a trusted adult, but somewhere in the lesson plan many of these units will include a role playing scenario where students will be shown a video. Here’s where a subtle but unmistakable pro-homosexual message is usually communicated. Kids may learn that saying phrases like ‘that’s so gay’ or other slurs about homosexuality are wrong—and they are—but here’s the problem, there’s no allowance in these lessons that I’ve ever seen for kids to believe that homosexuality as a behavior is still wrong even if they don’t use insulting phrases to convey this. Our kids should learn to respect others and to be kind in their words and actions but they must not be taught the false concept that the identity of homosexuality is like race, that it is inborn in some people and that this is the reason for not using these insults.

If the lessons remain unchanged, ask to have your child removed from that class and be sure to explain to your child that the lesson in question was confusing and inaccurate and you don’t want your son or daughter to learn material that is untrue. It’s also important if you can inform other parents as well, there is strength in numbers. If you encountered this situation, perhaps you should consider removing your child from this school. It’s my hope though that you won’t find this type of false and immoral teaching at your child’s school.

Linda Harvey Marks 'Spirit Day' with Anti-Gay Tirade against Bullying-Prevention Efforts

Mission America president Linda Harvey today unleashed yet another vitriolic and denialist rant against anti-bullying efforts, coinciding with GLAAD’s Spirit Day to combat bullying and stand up for LGBT youth. Harvey said that “gay agenda activists want to add harmful ideas” to young people who are being bullied because their sole “priority” is “propping up the reputation of the lifestyle, not the concern about individual kids.” She even said that a survivor of molestation may end up becoming gay as a result of bullying-prevention policies which deal with anti-gay discrimination, arguing that “the most vulnerable among our kids will be those who are hurt” by them. According to Harvey, the belief that anti-LGBT attitudes drive bullying is “outrageous nonsense” and will “send some kids into this sin identity.”

People involved in homosexuality often truly believe they can’t change but it’s simply not true and grasping God’s truth is the first step to overcoming these desires. Children in most schools today will learn about the dangers of bullying and harassment, much of the information is valuable about treating each other with respect but too many of these programs also include the message we talked about last time that insults about possible homosexuality are wrong and everyone needs to decide that homosexuality is just fine, this type of bullying will only end if we all accept this idea and nod approvingly as we send some kids into this sin identity. If we are to be just and fair, everyone should label certain students as these supposedly different types of human, gay or lesbian or someone born in the wrong sex body. This is outrageous nonsense; in fact the most vulnerable among our kids will be those who are hurt the worst if they believe there is no way out.

Let’s take the example of a twelve year-old boy who was once molested, the reality is there are way too many such boys out there and most of the time he will not report this but will instead internalize the hurt and confusion. On top of this, gay agenda activists want to add harmful ideas in this boy’s life at just the wrong moment. He may also be the subject of some teasing and bullying since many boys go through some of this, adults are tempted to brush it off but no schools should implement fair and appropriate punishment in all such incidents. But what if part of that punishment includes some message like this: ‘people are born homosexual and this type of teasing and insulting is disrespectful to this identity.’ In other words, it’s propping up the reputation of the lifestyle, not the concern about individual kids, that has become the priority. This boy will think he himself is one of these ‘born this way’ homosexual, that it’s the reason he was ‘chosen’ for molestation, that that’s the reason he’s being teased and that he should ignore any their information. No wonder some kids feel trapped and in despair, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

AFA Ponders How to 'Reach Out with Biblical Compassion' to Gay Youth

The American Family Association without fail hurls some of the most derogatory and incendiary rhetoric at the gay community,. For example, the group’s spokesman Bryan Fischer claims that gays are like drug addicts, domestic terrorists and Nazis and are responsible for the Holocaust, and the organization’s general manager blamed gays for Hurricane Isaac and linked the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell to an increase in suicides in the military.

But now the anti-gay group hopes to teach people how to “reach out with biblical compassion” to gay youth, which they routinely call “Big Gay.”

The AFA’s Rightly Concerned blog reposted an article from Kerby Anderson Probe Ministries about the “gay agenda in schools,” fitting with the AFA’s new campaign to stop “Mix it Up at Lunch Day” out of the fear young people will eat the gay “poisoned candy.”

The blog post warns that homosexuality in and of itself leads to health and psychiatric problems and suggests anti-bullying efforts are simply attempts to “increase homosexual behavior among students.” Ironically, Anderson cites a study which concludes “educational efforts, prevention programs, and health services must be designed to address the unique needs of GLB youth” to argue that schools should not assist their gay, lesbian and bisexual students in anyway…unless it is with ex-gay therapy.

“We should reach out to those caught in the sin of homosexuality and offer them hope and point them to Jesus Christ so that they will find freedom from the sexual sin that binds their lives,” Anderson writes, claiming that “many in the homosexual lifestyle are there because of some emotional brokenness in their families” and are “trying to meet their emotional needs in ungodly ways.”

The strategy has obviously been successful because no one would want to be against making the schools a safer environment. It almost doesn't matter whether the allegations are true. Once you raise the concern of safety, most administrators, teachers, and parents quickly fall in line.

There is an irony in all of this. Many of the behaviors that are taught and affirmed in these school programs and clubs are unsafe in term of public health. For example, Pediatrics (Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics) reported on a Harvard study that found more than thirty risks positively associated with self-reported gay-lesbian-bisexual (GLB) orientation.{2} So it is indeed ironic that the idea of "safety" is often used as means to introduce teaching and discussion of behaviors that have been proven to be quite "unsafe."

Permitting and promoting homosexual activity through on-campus programs and clubs will certainly increase homosexual behavior among students. Administrators, teachers, and parents should reconsider the impact these programs, and the subsequent behavior, will have on the student body.

When we talk about the issue of homosexuality, it is important to keep two biblical principles in tension. On the one hand we must stay true to our biblical convictions, and on the other hand we should reach out with biblical compassion. Essentially this is the balance between truth and love.

On the one hand, it is crucial for us to understand how the homosexual agenda threatens to normalize and even promote homosexuality within the schools. Moreover, gay activists are pushing an agenda in the courts, the legislature, the schools, and the court of public opinion that will ultimately threaten biblical authority and many of our personal and religious freedoms. Christians, therefore, must stand for truth.

I have provided a brief overview of the groups and programs that are promoting the gay agenda in the public schools. I encourage you to find out what is happening in your community. We have also documented the potential legal liability associated with many of the behaviors that are encouraged by these programs. Often administrators and teachers are unaware of the potential dangers associated with homosexual education in the schools. Take time to share this information with them.

On the other hand, it is also important for us to reach out to those caught in the midst of homosexuality and offer God's grace and redemption. We cannot let the hardened rhetoric of gay activists keep us from having Christ's heart toward homosexuals. As individuals and as the church, we should reach out to those caught in the sin of homosexuality and offer them hope and point them to Jesus Christ so that they will find freedom from the sexual sin that binds their lives.

It is important to remember that many in the homosexual lifestyle are there because of some emotional brokenness in their families. They may be trying to meet their emotional needs in ungodly ways. Youth in the public schools may be experimenting sexually and find themselves caught up in the homosexual lifestyle.

Bryan Fischer on CNN Likens Anti-Bullying Program to Poisoned Halloween Candy, Defends Gay-Nazi Claims

American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer appeared on CNN today and told host Carol Costello that the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “Mix It Up at Lunch Day” program, which the AFA is protesting, is “toxic” to the “moral health” of students, much like “poisoned Halloween candy” injected with cyanide.

After Fischer did his normal routine of arguing that Hitler was gay and that the Stormtroopers were largely comprised of gay members while making wild claims about the supposed dangers of homosexuality, Costello abruptly ended the interview, adding, “thanks for sharing your views, I guess.”

Alliance Defending Freedom and Focus on the Family Unveil New Anti-Anti-Bullying Strategies

Alliance Defending Freedom, formerly the Alliance Defense Fund, has been working with Focus on the Family to put together an “anti-bullying yardstick” that provides quite weak and watered-down measures to fight bullying. But backing ineffective measures to combat bullying may be the point, as the Religious Right has fiercely opposed comprehensive anti-bullying policies because of protections that would help curb anti-LGBT bullying, even to the point of supporting loopholes for bullies. Ironically, just today the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) released a report detailing the disproportionately high rates of bullying faced by LGBT youth, and how such bullying is less likely to materialize in schools with stronger anti-bullying policies.

ADF attorney Matt Sharp appeared on The Janet Mefferd Show yesterday to denounce “oppressive” anti-bullying policies, and while Sharp insisted that the campaign is not linked to either the ADF or Focus’s anti-LGBT advocacy, it probably didn’t help that he was speaking to a talk show host who has consistently denounced LGBT rights and people. Just before Sharp appeared on her program, Mefferd criticized the Democratic Party for backing marriage equality by asking, “where’s the lightning?”

Sharp said that gay rights groups are using bullying as “an avenue for them to insert their homosexual agenda into the schools” and promote “the re-education of students.” He claimed ADF and Focus will provide an alternative to “the propaganda of homosexual activist groups that seek to promote their agenda in the schools,” describing their “propaganda” as books that dare to recognize the reality that some children are raised by same-sex couples!

Sharp: It’s important for schools to have proper respect for the First Amendment rights of students to express their views on religion, politics and other subjects without fear of being labeled as bullies or being punished by an oppressive anti-bullying policy that violates their rights.

Mefferd: Definitely, so we’ve seen a lot of these activist organizations getting involved in the schools, GLSEN is one that comes to mind because they’re been so big and have been so active, talk a little bit about what they have done in the way of anti-bullying policies?

Sharp: Yeah, we’ve seen several instances where they will come into schools and place pressure upon schools to adopt their model policies that are really just an avenue for them to insert their homosexual agenda into the schools. We actually saw a situation not too long ago up in Iowa where the group was promoting the re-education of students and tolerance training and all of this stuff that was meant to normalize same-sex marriage in these books they were giving to young elementary students portraying a family with two daddies and two mommies and things like that. The school district really didn’t know how to respond so it was important for us to get involved with them and help them to know that you don’t have to cave into these groups, there’s alternatives, that’s why we’re really excited about teaming up with Focus on this to provide an alternative to schools, to help them know what a proper anti-bullying policy that protects all students equally looks like without having to accept the propaganda of homosexual activist groups that seek to promote their agenda in the schools.

Sharp later asserted that groups like GLSEN “focus upon specific characteristics and elevate those to say ‘bullying against this is really bad and we don’t want that in school but other types of bullying may be tolerable.’” Actually, that is exactly what the ADF is doing by supporting religious exemptions for bullying. He even speak about bullying as almost only dealing with physical harm, which again ignores the serious harm posed by verbal abuse, cyber-bullying and harassment.

His argument is that enumeration, the policy of mentioning certain distinguishable characteristics tied to bullying to help combat bullying not only after it occurs but also to prevent it from happening in the first place, somehow doesn’t protect all students. For example, research shows that students with mental and physical disabilities are more likely to face bullying, and therefore enumerated anti-bullying policies frequently list ability as a highlighted characteristic. Similarly, studies demonstrate that LGBT and LGBT-perceived youth have a higher likelihood of being bullied.

Policies that mention sexual orientation and gender identity, along with ability, race, class, sex, national origin and religion, as characteristics that are linked to bullying help strengthen anti-bullying programs and don’t leave anyone out, as Sharp implies.

But ADF and Focus don’t really have a problem with enumeration, they just have a problem with anti-bullying plans that may be used to protect LGBT students. If ADF or Focus simply took a principled stand against enumeration in anti-bullying policies, then why haven’t these groups denounced them before they began including characteristics like sexual orientation and gender identity?

Indeed, putting an added emphasis on factors that are commonly connected to bullying does not make any student less protected—or as Sharp baselessly argues, allow for other cases of bullying—but help reduce bullying and create a safer climate for all students.

Harvey: Dan Savage, Like Satan, Twists Bible while ‘Exploiting’ Kids

Mission America president Linda Harvey this weekend on her radio show talked to Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality about Dan Savage’s It Gets Better Project, which she warned is “exploiting” children. Harvey attacked the anti-bullying and anti-suicide message of Savage’s It Gets Better Project for sending a “bad message” to children by, like Satan, manipulating the Bible. Last year, Harvey called the It Gets Better Project “evil” and “dark.”

Harvey: Back up to It Gets Better. If you look at some of those, and I’ve looked at some of the videos on there, these are very vulnerable kids and he is exploiting them. What he’s basically saying is, it’s kind of what Satan does in Scripture with Jesus, a little bit of truth of Scripture and then a lot of twisting and basically you end up in a place that is very unscriptural and untruthful. Yes, ‘there are bullies and ignore them,’ that’s a good message, ‘but go ahead full steam into homosexuality and gender confusion,’ a bad message, most parents want their kids to get an anti-bullying message that does not include that last part. He wants to go right and just say, ‘go for it,’ at young and younger ages.

LaBarbera: He knows he can reach them through the videos, he talked about how he gets in trouble when he talks about his anger and Dan Savage is a very angry man.

Harvey: Very.

LaBarbera: He hates Christians.

Mat Staver Warns Anti-Bullying Provisions Will Punish Believers of 'Normal Sexuality'

Today on Faith & Freedom, Liberty Counsel’s Mat Staver and Matt Barber railed against Dan Savage, with Barber reminiscing that “there used to be a time when we arrested middle aged men who got their jollies talking dirty to children” and accusing Savage of trying to “poison” the minds of children. Staver warned that anti-bullying measures will even lead to students who oppose “homosexuality or any kind of deviation outside of normal sexuality” being punished and suspended from school.

Watch:

Barber: You know there used to be a time when we arrested middle aged men who got their jollies talking dirty to children, well Dan Savage does that for a living.... This is a forty-seven year-old self-identified homosexual who advocates publicly, he advocates what he calls non-monogamy, he advocates having the occasional three-way tryst, this is a guy who is a sex columnist who MTV has given a platform to reach out to our children and to put this poison in their minds.

Staver: What he has done here and what I think this really unmasks is what ultimately is behind some of these anti-bullying laws: it is reverse bullying, it is the opportunity to use a club to people who are Christians or have moral convictions with regards to homosexuality or any kind of deviation outside of normal sexuality. Anybody who believes that sexuality outside of normal sexuality with a man and a woman in a husband and wife relationship will ultimately be the target of bullying, they will be ridiculed, they will be attacked, they will be punished, they will be sent to the principal’s office, they will be disciplined, they will be suspended, they will be ultimately forced to accept that agenda and that was exactly what was unmasked here with Dan Savage.

Anti-Gay Activists Warn 'Homosexual References' in School will 'Bring Many of the Kids into the Gay Lifestyle'

Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality hosted Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Institute and Barbara Anderson of the Parents Action League and the Minnesota Family Council. Higgins railed against the “homosexual agenda” as the “greatest threat to First Amendment speech and religious liberty in America today” and later Anderson, who called anti-bullying efforts “child abuse,” said that Minnesota’s Anoka-Hennepin school district’s new guidelines regarding sexual orientation will turn kids gay:

Higgins: This is not about sound pedagogy, it will do the exact opposite; it will interfere with intellectual exploration and critical thinking. And I don’t think there is a greatest threat to First Amendment speech and religious liberty in America today than that posed by the homosexual agenda.

LaBarbera: And it just keeps going on and on and they want to go younger and younger.

Higgins: That’s right.

Anderson: They want school children to be bombarded with homosexual references in math, geography, science, English, all of this to promote the gay agenda. I think kids are going to get so sick of this, but unfortunately it’s going to brainwash many of the children with this propaganda and will bring many of the kids into the gay lifestyle as they experiment with this and are told that this is normal and a choice that they can make as well.

During the interview, LaBarbera also congratulated Anderson after she informed him that the Parents Action League was designated as an anti-gay hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and LaBarbera repeated his claim that organizations working “to counter the homosexual activist movement” should strive to find a place the SPLC’s hate group list. Anderson, who has warned that “homosexual teachers” are targeting “creative” students and that gay rights advocates will “increase bullying as more kids get into this kind of a lifestyle,” told LaBarbera in 2010 that AFTAH’s hate group designation was a “badge of honor.”

LaBarbera: Barbara, I wouldn’t be surprised if SPLC started labeling Minnesota Family Council or your Parents Action League as a hate group.

Anderson: They already have.

LaBarbera: Oh they did? I’m behind the times. Which one?

Anderson: Parents Action League has been added to their ridiculous catalogue of haters.

LaBarbera: Congratulations, Barb! We decided that if you’re not labeled a hate group by the SPLC you’re not really doing anything to counter the homosexual activist movement.

Klingenschmitt Says 'Sick and Perverse' Student Non-Discrimination Act will Legalize 'Sexual Assault'

After President Obama announced his support for the Student Non-Discrimination Act, Gordon Klingenschmitt went back on the attack against the anti-bullying bill, in an email message warning that the “sick and perverse” legislation will “give homosexuals and perverts protected status,” “mandate pro-homosexual recruiting of kids in public schools,” promote “child abuse” as “homosexuals will have full control of classrooms” and even allow for harassment and “sexual assault”:

If we lose this fight, then public, private and even religious schools will be forced to accept and teach a pro-homosexual agenda, or face lawsuits. One agenda even encourages students to 'experiment' with homosexuality. Pro-homosexual students will soon harass Christian students, making sexual assault protected as 'freedom of self-expression.'

As sick and perverse as it is to "re-educate" six to twelve year olds to reject their parents' faith, and encourage them to embrace homosexual sin as normal, this is only the beginning of child abuse promoted by Obama's cronies at the Homosexual Rights Campaign.

Not only is Sen. Franken's perverse child-recruiting legislation dangerously close to passage, it now has official public support from President Obama. The White House told the Washington Blade "the president supports the goals of the Student Non-Discrimination Act" [aka Homosexual Classrooms Act] and Mr. Obama boasted: "I hosted the first White House conference on bullying prevention and many in my Administration, including myself and Vice President Biden, participated in the It Gets Better Project that [recruits] young people who are [confused about] their actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity."

If we lose the battle to stop S. 555 or H.R. 998, we will lose our kids in all 50 states. Homosexuals will have full control of classrooms, and kids. Let's demand Congress stop Sen. Al Franken in his tracks, right now.

The controversial Senator is also the driving force behind S. 555 and H.R. 998 which would "re-educate" elementary school children in all 50 states to accept homosexual sin as normal, against the teaching of their parents' faith. Both these bills are an attempt to give homosexuals and perverts protected status, and mandate pro-homosexual recruiting of kids in public schools (or else the school loses funding).

This is also true in DC, where Homosexuals are trying to push pro-gay bills on elementary children very quietly and without spotlight or attention. Your petitions to Congress expose their evil, and deny them any stealth ability. YOU shine the light on their dark sinful deeds.

Mat Staver says Day of Silence is a Tool of the 'Radical Homosexual Agenda' to push 'Deviant Lifestyles'

Three days after the Day of Silence, held on Friday, April 20, Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel on Freedom’s Call railed against the “radical homosexual agenda” for promoting “homosexuality and other deviant lifestyles” in schools. As we found in our updated report, Big Bullies: The Right-Wing’s Anti-Anti-Bullying Strategies, Liberty Counsel has been at the forefront of opposing efforts to combat bullying and suicide among youth, and Staver today said that the Day of Silence, a day where students remain silent to show solidarity to students facing anti-LGBT bullying and discrimination, is a “dishonest” and “radical” project by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network to “use American students as pawns in their attempt to transform our society”:

Staver: The radical Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network staged a so-called Day of Silence in schools across America. The goal was to disrupt the classroom learning environment in order to send a message in favor of the radical homosexual agenda. It is unfortunate that GLSEN would seek to use American students as pawns in their attempt to transform our society. We need to understand that the Day of Silence campaign is not about securing equal rights for anyone, but rather it is a concerted effort to force society to accept the practice of homosexuality and other deviant lifestyles. The facts are homosexual behavior raises some very serious public health concerns, as reported by numerous organizations including the Center for Disease Control. Not only is GLSEN being dishonest concerning the negative effects of homosexuality, they are also attempting to remove any voices that would suggest otherwise. America’s students deserve better.

LaBarbera Blasts 'Pathological' Gay Rights Advocates and the 'Homosexualization' of the Schools, Military and Government

Americans For Truth About Homosexuality president Peter LaBarbera thinks about gay people a lot, even admitting that he talks about issues concerning gays and lesbians “all the time.” Therefore, it wasn’t a surprise to see him appear on VCY America’s Crosstalk with Jim Schneider where he disparaged the Day of Silence for making students “celebrate perversion” and creating “pro-homosexual indoctrination zones,” and criticized same-sex parents and their children for appearing at the White House’s Easter egg hunt. And after all that, LaBarbera grumbled that gays and lesbians have “an almost pathological drive” to their activism:

Schneider: Peter, what harm is there in having a Day of Silence?

LaBarbera: I think there is great harm in the schools becoming pro-homosexual indoctrination zones and that’s what’s happening Jim. Now GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network, has created a whole host of events, National Transgender Remembrance Day, all these various activities all designed to celebrate perversion, what we as Christians consider sin and perversion. So the school, a place of authority for schools, you have your parents and you have your teachers for your children and if the teachers and the administrators of the school are basically telling the kids that celebrating homosexuality is OK, then our schools are directly promoting immorality and corruption to children, and that’s wrong. This is one reason why many parents are just getting out of the public school system altogether.

Schneider: Let’s transition from the classroom now to the highest office in our land, the White House, Peter they are doing anything but remaining silent as they are going full force, year-round now in the promotion of LGBT, just a week ago the White House made a big deal over their Easter egg roll and all the LGBT families that were coming to the event. But Peter, I didn’t see any news release talking about all the heterosexual families coming out?

LaBarbera: It’s so obnoxious, Jim, and I know we agree on this because we talk about it all the time. Everything they can use, the homosexual activists are using, even innocent events like an Easter egg hunt at the White House to promote homosexuality, because it’s all about the homosexual activists, right? Every institution, every event they can use to promote their lifestyle, they do. It’s an almost pathological drive to gain and to promote the acceptance of that which is unacceptable—homosexuality—so we see these innocent, wholesome events like the Easter egg hunt, being hijacked by the LGBT, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender movement, and this is one of those cases.

But LaBarbera’s tirade didn’t end there, as he warned that the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is transforming the Pentagon into “the world’s largest so-called gay rights organization.” LaBarbera even attacked the “so-called gay families,” including their loved ones that serve in the military, for bringing “immorality” to military bases.

LaBarbera: When you open up the military to perversion, which is what President Obama and largely the Democrats although some Republicans helped, this is what you would expect. We shouldn’t be surprised when we assaults happening and Jim again, this administration, we’re going to see more homosexual activism in the military. Now they’re going to be lobbying hard for bases, for families, so-called gay families, to be allowed on bases. What does that mean? That means if you have a family with a young son or a young daughter next door could be homosexual soldiers modeling that immorality to your youngsters, right there in the military.

We’re seeing what we predicted which is that under the Obama administration, with the homoseuxalization of our military, the Pentagon has become the world’s largest so-called gay rights organization.

Truth in Action Ministries links Day of Silence to Adolf Hitler, Says Children face 'Indoctrination into a Deadly Lifestyle'

After comparing the “radical homosexual agenda” to the iceberg that sank the Titanic, Truth in Action Ministries yesterday discussed how homosexuality results from a “deep pathology” and deficient “biblical” parenting and today went into how gays and lesbians are stealthily using anti-bullying programs to turn kids gay. The claim is common in Religious Right circles, and Jerry Newcombe told host Carmen Pate on Truth that Transforms today that gay rights supporters want to “indoctrinate children” into “a deadly lifestyle” through anti-bullying programs.

Pate: As we talk about the radical homosexual agenda and their attempts to take their agenda into the public school, we see evidence day in and day out in the news, in activities that are coming up in public schools, activities that are put together by an organization called Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network. They seem to be set on taking their agenda and teaching our children that their lifestyle is actually an inherent identity. How do you see this infiltrating our children’s school systems?

Newcombe: It’s something where they are basically taking a legitimate concern, which is that of bullying, and they are using that serious problem that does happen as an opportunity by which they will then promote and essentially indoctrinate children and expose children to the acceptability of the homosexual lifestyle. Now bullying is wrong but so also is indoctrination into a deadly lifestyle and frankly homosexuality is a deadly lifestyle and that fact is withheld from the children.

Later in the program, Newcombe suggested that it may not be a coincidence and is “ironic” that the anti-bullying Day of Silence takes place on April 20th, Adolf Hitler’s birthday. While the Day of Silence last year took place on April 15th, as the date has changed over the years, Newcombe sees something more sinister:

Newcombe: It’s sad to see groups like GLSEN be accepted by the teacher's establishment and then allow the platform to go into the public schools and try and indoctrinate children. For example, they have something called the Day of Silence. Now they chose April 20 of all days to be the Day of Silence, I looked that up, I was like, ‘isn’t that Adolf Hitler’s birthday,’ I looked it up and sure enough it is Adolf Hitler’s birthday. I don’t think there’s a link there but how ironic. But they are using this day as a means by which to promote their lifestyle as if it is a positive thing.

Martin O’Malley, who backed his state’s marriage equality law, and other pro-gay rights “criminals... MORE

On Monday, the American Family Association’s Sandy Rios hosted Linda Harvey of Mission America to criticize the Day of Silence, the anti-bullying event which Harvey has previously described as dangerous and blasphemous. Rios, who once said that test scores are dropping as a result of schools “teaching” homosexuality, kicked off the program by arguing that public schools no longer instruct students in subjects like “reading, writing, cursive, spelling, grammar [and] punctuation,” but are instead completely dedicated to “cramming, twisting, perverting all... The boycott campaign is backed by anti-gay groups such as Liberty Counsel, Concerned Women for America and Faith2Action, which urge public schools to resist... MORE

It’s that time of year again when Linda Harvey of Mission America attacks and vilifies the Day of Silence, this time arguing in her radio bulletin that the anti-bullying event actually bullies Christian and promotes “an abomination,” beseeching parents and grandparents to “keep kids home that day if the Day of Silence is going to be a big deal in that school.” On April 19 or thereabouts, homosexual activists and their allies will once again stage a silent day of protest in schools against high moral standards. This is what GLSEN’s Day of Silence is all... MORE

MassResistance head Brian Camenker joined Sandy Rios of the American Family Association yesterday to attack the Department of Education for citing the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network’s School Climate Survey, which he labeled as “propaganda,” in a memorandum. He told Rios that the survey on anti-LGBT bullying is “not scientific at all” and doubted its claims “about how transgender kids and homosexual kids — if there is such a thing — are harassed and everything.” Rios: GLSEN is behind a lot of the thinking here, the Gay,... Mission America’s Linda Harvey has consistently claimed that anti-bullying efforts that include preventing bullying against LGBT and LGBT-perceived students will lead to discrimination against straight, Christian students at the hands of “destructive” and “criminal” activists in the “gaystapo.” Of course, she and her other Religious Right anti-anti-bullying activists have never produced any actual evidence that this was occurring, but since she claims to be an ardent defender of students’ First Amendment rights, we wondered how she would react... While that board repealed their policy, Harvey warned that more schools “are starting to buy in to the monstrous idea... MORE
