Yesterday, we noted that Donald Trump will be delivering the keynote address in March at an event honoring WorldNetDaily founder and editor Joseph Farah, who has been a leader in driving birther conspiracy theories about President Obama. Today, WND returns the favor, naming Trump its “ Man of the Year.” (President Obama already took the “Muslim of the Year” honor from WND columnist Larry Klayman.) Trump told WND that the recognition was an “honor” and that he appreciates the publication’s “informative polls and coverage.” (We’ve... MORE

Donald Trump may not spend as much time talking about President Obama’s birth certificate now that he’s the Republican presidential frontrunner, but that doesn’t meant that he’s given up his birther sympathies. The far-right outlet WorldNetDaily reported over the weekend that Trump and his fellow GOP candidate Mike Huckabee are both confirmed to speak at the Western Center for Journalism’s Western Conservative Conference in Scottsdale in March, at which Rush Limbaugh will present Joseph Farah, the founder of the Western Center and of WND, with the center’... WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah is quite pleased that the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination, Donald Trump, is a birther, but would like to remind everybody that he and fellow WND “reporter” Jerome Corsi were the driving force behind the conspiracy theory that President Obama is ineligible to be president. Farah writes today that while the GOP-led Congress will never get to the bottom of the “fake” birth certificate, “maybe history will judge Obama more honestly.” “Maybe 20 years from now, when it no longer matters, the truth will come... Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign announced last week that its operation in Alabama would be chaired by state Rep. Will Ainsworth and former state Republican Party chairman Bill Armistead, according to AL.com. The choice of Armistead and Ainsworth is slightly surprising from a candidate who is trying to position himself in contrast to some of his more far-right competitors in the GOP race. We first encountered Armistead in the lead-up to the 2012 election, when he urged an audience to watch the insane birther film “Dreams From My Real Father,” which posits that President... MORE

WorldNetDaily provides us today with an update on Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s investigation into President Obama’s birth certificate, which apparently is still going strong despite a failure to release a piece of “universe-shattering” evidence that we were first promised in 2013. Arpaio’s chief investigator, Mike Zullo, tells WND that unspecified legal issues mean that this very important piece of evidence may not ever actually see “the light of day”: What ever happened to the “universe-shattering” revelation promised by the sheriff’s... Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s announcement yesterday that he will seek the Republican presidential nomination has brought back a strain of far-right birtherism that contends that Rubio is not eligible to be president because his parents were not U.S. citizens at the time of his birth. In its write-up of Rubio’s announcement, birther outlet WorldNetDaily (which has been a big promoter of Ted Cruz’s candidacy) cites unnamed people who “contend Rubio’s not even a natural-born citizen and therefore, ineligible to seek the presidency”: Meanwhile, others... Last Friday, Miranda noted that birther, conspiracy theorist par excellence, and WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah was publicizing one of the more ridiculous right-wing scare-stories: that President Obama will refuse to leave the White House after his second term is over in January 2017. Farah said in a column last week that “there’s great concern” about the possibility “out there across the fruited plain.” In classic Fox News and far-right trolling style, Farah said he didn’t actually believe Obama would refuse to leave office, but was just asking...
