Liberty Counsel Revives Campaign against the Day of Silence

Liberty Counsel is once again attacking the anti-bullying Day of Silence, and in fact released nearly the exact same statement last year criticizing the “radical sexualized agenda subsidized with tax dollars” and “the intolerance promoted by the Day of Silence.”

On Friday, April 20, the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN) will encourage students to remain silent for an entire school day in solidarity with the radical lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) agenda.

While “peaceful” in name, schools face harsh pressure from the radical LGBT movement to support and promote the Day of Silence. Despite the huge push on schools and teachers from GLSEN to advance the LGBT agenda through this event, no one can be legally forced to participate or condone the Day of Silence.

Last year, some parents chose to withdraw their children from school on that day. Parents are encouraged to call the schools and tell them the reason their children will not be attending. School administrators usually listen, because the school loses money for each absence.

School teachers should be aware that students do not have the right to remain silent when they are called upon by teachers. Conduct on the part of a student that causes a substantial disruption or material interference with school activities is not protected under the First Amendment. Students cannot learn if they refuse to participate in class, and they harm other students’ experience by not contributing to a dialogue of learning.

School administrators do not have to promote the Day of Silence. In those states that require abstinence instruction, schools do not have to recognize clubs that promote sexual activities.

Mathew Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, said, “The Day of Silence is not about tolerance or bullying. It is about pushing a sexual agenda. Students and staff who disagree with a radical sexualized agenda are demonized and made to feel like outsiders. Children should be afforded a rigorous education opportunity and not be forced to accept a radical sexualized agenda subsidized with tax dollars. Parents and lawmakers should take the time to learn about the extreme views of GLSEN and the intolerance promoted by the Day of Silence.”

Compare their statement released today to what the group posted last year:

Parents and students will protest the so-called “Day of Silence” agenda tomorrow. Last year, some parents chose to withdraw their children from any school that promotes the Day of Silence. The Day of Silence is a project of the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which promotes a radical sexualized agenda, including the promotion of books that encourage sex between adults and minors.

Parents are encouraged to call the schools their children attend and tell them the reason their children will not be attending. School administrators usually listen, because the school loses money for each absence.

The Day of Silence has been turned into a homosexual and transsexual promotion agenda. Neither students nor public school teachers or staff should be forced to promote homosexual behavior.

Family Research Council's Tony Perkins Hails Campaign to Ban Day of Silence over its 'Promotion of Homosexuality'

With anti-gay organizations like the American Family Association, Concerned Women for America and Liberty Counsel urging students to walkout of schools on April 20th to protest the Day of Silence, a day when students in many schools remain silent to draw attention to anti-gay bias and bullying, the Family Research Council is now endorsing one Connecticut pastor’s efforts to have the school prohibit any student from participating in the Day of Silence.

According to the New Haven Register, Loomer’s campaign is based on material from rabidly anti-gay activist Linda Harvey of Mission America, along with debunked claims that the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, which spearheads the Day of Silence, distributes pornographic material to children, pastor James Loomer of Milford is trying to convince his local school board to forbid students from partaking in the event. However, the school board’s own legal counsel and the American Civil Liberties Union notes that students have a right to participate in the Day of Silence during non-instructional time.

But Loomer’s unconstitutional and anti-gay ploy was rewarded with an interview on FRC president Tony Perkins’ radio show Washington Watch Weekly, where Loomer said that “parents will be so appalled at what the Day of Silence could lead their children into” and Perkins noted that while he opposed bullying, he also opposed anti-bullying efforts like the Day of Silence because it is “cover for the promotion of homosexuality” and commended Loomer’s efforts to ban it.

Loomer: If the board decides they don’t want to take any corrective actions we’re already making plans to call the city families together and just apprise them of the situation. I think the parents will be so appalled at what the Day of Silence could lead their children into that they’re going to want to stand up and say, ‘let’s get rid of this.’ There are alternative programs that focus on disrupting the bullying that goes on in schools but this is one that’s got a serious kickback to it.

Perkins: Look, bullying should not be taking place in our schools, every child in America should be able to go to school—public school, private school, wherever—without the fear of threat or being intimidated, regardless of what the cause is, whether they’re overweight, whether their religious viewpoints, no child should be bullied because they are effeminate or because of their sexual orientation or whatever, it shouldn’t happen, but we cannot allow these programs like the Day of Silence to come into our schools as a cover for the promotion of homosexuality. That’s what is happening with this so we appreciate Pastor Loomer and others who are drawing attention to this in communities across the country.

Linda Harvey Decries Gay-Rights 'Radicals' who are 'Out to Wreck' Morality and 'Legitimize Deviance'

Mission America president Linda Harvey today used her radio bulletin to, what else, stoke fears about gay rights. The conservative activist said that “radicals in key positions of influence” are “out to wreck not just morality but every other basis of security in this country” by supporting marriage equality for gays and lesbians and consequently “legitimize this deviance.” Channeling arguments in favor of anti-miscegenation laws that said blacks and whites already have the freedom to marry people of their own race, Harvey also argued that gays and lesbians already have the “freedom to marry” since they can marry “someone of the opposite sex” and are “not born this way.”

Harvey: In all thirty one states where the issue has been put to a popular vote, state constitutional amendments affirming marriage as being between one man and one woman have been voted into law. That’s the good news, even though we are vastly outspent and the media is largely on the side of the effort to legitimize this deviance, if it’s not done by a few city councilmembers or a handful of judges, the good sense of traditional moral values usually wins. We must be vigilant today because there are radicals in key positions of influence and they are out to wreck not just morality but every other basis of security in this country unless we take appropriate actions by speaking out and casting our votes for strong values and for people of character. Remember if you hear the slogan that homosexuals need the ‘freedom to marry,’ let’s remind ourselves and tell others that these folks were not ‘born this way’ and they can already marry—someone of the opposite sex.

Religious Right Marks Anniversary of Titanic's Sinking by Exposing the 'Iceberg' of the 'Radical Homosexual Agenda'

The anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking and release of ‘Titanic 3D’ has apparently inspired Truth in Action Ministries, formerly Coral Ridge Ministries, to produce a new short film presenting the “radical homosexual agenda” as an iceberg that could potentially destroy the United States.

The Truth that Transforms film features well-known anti-gay activists such as Jennifer Kennedy Cassidy and Jerry Newcombe of Truth in Action Ministries, Mathew Staver of Liberty Counsel, Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, right-wing historian Bill Federer, radio talk show host and author Michael Brown, and pastors Harry Jackson, Robert Jeffress and Erwin Lutzer.

Staver warned that the “homosexual agenda is the moral iceberg that we need to steer clear of” and maintained that it is “the biggest threat I believe in our lifetime to religious freedom and the fundamental values we share here in America.” While Jackson said the “homosexual agenda” is “one of those icebergs that if we don’t navigate around them correctly, will take us under,” Brown claimed “we’ve already hit the iceberg and the ship is already going down” and Land insisted that “we’re taking on water, the only question is whether or not we’re going to be able to survive and the ship won’t sink.” Staver predicted that opposition to gay rights is bound to be “criminalized and targeted for assault” and Federer even asserted that “there are just a couple steps before the military could be used in a persecution of those that are viewed as enemies of the new state belief system.”

Matt Barber calls Jimmy Carter 'An Apostate' for Backing Marriage Equality

Liberty Counsel deputy Matt Barber attacked former president Jimmy Carter, who in a new study Bible writes that he supports marriage equality for gays and lesbians, as “an apostate” in an interview with LifeSiteNews. Barber told the conservative outlet that Carter is using his influential position “to push heretical notions,” and Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission called Carter “hopelessly confused as a theologian”:

At the same time the 39th president has highlighted his more moderate stance on abortion, Carter has endorsed same-sex “marriage.” He told The Huffington Post, “I personally think it is very fine for gay people to be married in civil ceremonies” but he added he drew the line, “maybe arbitrarily, in requiring by law that churches must marry people.”

Dr. Richard Land said, “I’m not surprised that he holds that view. He is hopelessly confused as a theologian.” Carter has said his favorite theologians were liberals Rienhold Niebuhr and Paul Tillich.

“Homosexual conduct, is listed over and over again in black-and-white as sin,” said Barber.

“There’s a word for what Jimmy Carter is doing. That’s apostasy,” Barber told LifeSiteNews.com. “That’s a strong word to use, but Jimmy Carter is an apostate in that he is leading the least of these to sin against what Scripture clearly condemns in terms of homosexual conduct.”

“He is not just fooling himself with this,” Barber told LifeSiteNews. “Unfortunately he’s using the goodwill he has developed over the years and his history as the leader of the free world to push heretical notions.”

Jay Richards claims Marriage Equality is Incompatible with 'Individual Rights' and 'Limited Government'

Intelligent Design activist Jay Richards of the Discovery Institute, who recently coauthored the book Indivisible with televangelist James Robison, appeared on Phyllis Schlafly’s radio program Eagle Forum Live this week where he argued that those who believe in individual rights and limited government should oppose the rights of gays and lesbians to marry. Richards maintained that stopping the legalization of same-sex marriage is needed to defend the rights of individuals, and argued that since marriage is “outside the jurisdiction of the state” same-sex couples cannot take part in it.

Richards: We argue that there are other pre-political realities besides just the individual that a limited government has to recognize and marriage is one of those realities, it’s a universal human institution, we find it in every time and place, in every culture, every religious tradition has this basic concept of marriage as between one man and one woman with a special connection to children. So a limited government is going to recognize that institution rather than try to redefine it, so that’s why we think, in fact, if you believe in limited government you need to believe in laws that protect marriage as it actually is historically. The institution of marriage is one of those things that is outside the jurisdiction of the state, so quite apart from the consequences, we think, if you believe that government should recognize individual rights, then you need to believe that the government is also going to recognize the rights and realities of this institution which it can’t dictate.

'Jesus is Not a Homophobe' T-Shirt Draws Conservatives' Ire

Religious Right activists try to play the victim in their campaign against anti-bullying measures, warning that efforts to prevent bullying will somehow limit the rights of Christians. Of course, when a public school initially stopped a student from wearing a t-shirt that says, “Jesus is Not a Homophobe,” these so-called “free speech” activists not only were silent but some even attacked the 17 year old student. Talk show host Janet Mefferd called the t-shirt “disgusting” and Phil Burress of Citizens for Community Values blamed the “homosexual agenda” for trying to make the school allow him to wear a shirt with a “sexual connotation.”

Today, Mission America president Linda Harvey also attacked the student, Maverick Couch, for using the word “homophobe,” saying that the real problem in not anti-gay bias but the use of the word “homophobia,” which she called a “mean, hateful term, intended to put anyone with traditional values on the defensive.” She said that “objecting to homosexuality” is not a phobia but “reflects common sense, good judgment, sound health and strong morality.” Harvey maintained that the t-shirt is part of the “false faith of liberal churches” and represents “uninformed Christianity at best, and deliberately falsified at worst.”

You have probably already heard about the 17 year old boy in Waynesville, Ohio, who is suing his school because they asked him not to wear a controversial t-shirt. Maverick Couch has a t-shirt featuring a rainbow-colored, Christian fish and the words, ‘Jesus is Not a Homophobe.’ Yes you heard that right. And it all revolves around the upcoming pro-homosexual Day of Silence observed in most schools on Friday, April 20th.

Not that I disbelieve that Maverick, who is openly homosexual in his behavior and identity, isn’t very sincere in what he’s doing, he is quoted as saying that he has been bullied and called names and he is wearing this t-shirt to encourage respect. While I agree that he should not be bullied and neither should other students, but schools don’t have to embrace homosexuality to prevent bullying, and the even bigger issue here is the t-shirt is tragically and profoundly misleading. The assumptions are wrong, so you can’t even talk about it until we deconstruct its false implications. Homophobia is a mean, hateful term, intended to put anyone with traditional values on the defensive, as if objecting to homosexuality is a phobia, it’s not! It reflects common sense, good judgment, sound health and strong morality.

Which Jesus is this young man talking about? He’s implying the same false faith of liberal churches today that rely on only a carefully chosen, few passages from the New Testament and ignore everything else. Its uninformed Christianity at best, and deliberately falsified at worst.

NOM Promotes Anal-Obsessed Patrick Wooden… Again

Once again, the National Organization for Marriage is promoting North Carolina pastor Patrick Wooden, who stars in a video meant to drum up support for the state’s discriminatory Amendment One. The North Carolina Traditional Values Coalition includes Wooden and other Religious Right activists in the video urging people to vote for Amendment One, which would ban same-sex marriage and civil unions in the state constitution, and Wooden maintains that there is “no bigotry” against gays and lesbians in their efforts:

NOM likes to claim that they are not “anti-gay” but simply against “redefining marriage,” but they’re not fooling anybody when they use a spokesman who called anti-LGBT violence “normal” and encouraged parents to beat their transgender child, blamed Oprah, Tyler Perry and the cast of Glee for promoting “wicked” and “perverse” causes, said that Chaz Bono is controlled by demons and claimed homosexuality is a “wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human sexual behavior.”

And those are just his least notorious statements.

Wooden in an interview with Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality alleged that gay men ultimately “have to wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels”:

In a second interview with LaBarbera, Wooden went on to describe how gay men have “literally died in diapers” because of their inability to control their bowels as a result of shoving cellphones, baseball bats, and gerbils up their anuses, saying that he thanks God he is a human being so he is not put up a gay man’s rectum.

NOM should really stop pretending to be confused when critics call the group “anti-gay.”

MassResistance Says America's 'Worldwide Homosexual Terror Group' will bring about 'Brutal Oppression'

Recently, Brian Camenker has been in the news over his involvement in robocalls through a new group called “Jews and Christians Together” that urge Republicans to “vote for social sanity and Rick Santorum, NOT for homosexuality and Mitt Romney.” But Camenker’s principal organization, MassResistance, is still operating and releasing new, rabidly anti-gay “reports” like their memo on the State Department’s new push to stop anti-LGBT violence and discrimination abroad.

MassResistance dubs the initiative a “worldwide homosexual terror group” and maintains it “will lead to increasingly brutal oppression against people with traditional values both in America and around the world” along with “sleazy and quasi-legal destabilizing and harassing activities in foreign countries.” The memo also lambastes a transgender employee at the U.S. Embassy in Romania who commended changes that made the State Department a more open environment for transgender staffers.

The Obama administration has announced that it is taking the unbelievable role of pushing the homosexual agenda around the world and punishing countries that don't comply.

Back in July, MassResistance reported how the Pakistanis angrily denounced the US Embassy's open homosexual parties as "cultural terrorism." Well, that was just the beginning.

Now, foreign countries which seek to protect their citizens against homosexuality and the homosexual movement will be actively confronted by America's State Department, foreign service, and other federal departments, according to a Presidential Memorandum released by the Obama Administration announced on Dec. 6.

Unless countries around the world subordinate their own social and religious values to U.S. demands that they embrace homosexuality and the homosexual movement, they can expect interference from the US government in their internal affairs and punishment -- using foreign aid and in international commerce, trade, banking, travel restrictions, and the like.

Mirroring the homosexual lobby's (and the Left's) traditional tactics, Obama is characterizing this as a "civil rights" quest for homosexuality and transgenderism.

In the memo, Obama declares that America will be targeting foreign countries having laws or customs which "criminalize LGBT status," don't allow LGBT pride celebrations, or allow other "discrimination" against homosexual or transgender behavior. Obama also repeats the homosexual lobby's mantra that there is widespread violence and murder against "men, women, and children for their perceived sexual orientation" causing him to act, but he does not give any specifics.

Take another look the list of federal agencies involved, and the vehemence of the Obama administration on this. Make no mistake about it. This will lead to increasingly brutal oppression against people with traditional values both in America and around the world.

Starting a worldwide homosexual terror group?

As she said, this $3 million is "to start the fund."

Look for enormous funding to come from various far-left government and private sources. This is quite frightening, because these radical groups can be used to perpetrate all kinds of sleazy and quasi-legal destabilizing and harassing activities in foreign countries that US government agencies can't do so easily.

Tom McClusky Warns of Third Party and Society's Collapse if Marriage Equality Becomes a Reality

Family Research Council vice president Tom McClusky yesterday appeared on The Janet Mefferd Show to discuss a Politico article on how same-sex marriage has become “virtually a dead issue” among the senior brass of the Republican Party. McClusky denied concerns that opposing marriage equality will make the GOP more unpopular by arguing that polls which show growing support for legalizing same-sex marriage are “skewered” [sic] because people are likely lying in opinion surveys out of fear that they would be criticized for revealing their true views to pollsters. “The other side is taking up the cause of bullying and it’s kind of ironic because they’ve really mastered the art of bullying,” McClusky argued, saying that gay rights supporters are trying to “silence” groups like the FRC:

McClusky pushed back against Republican politicians who wanted to prioritize economic issues over social ones, warning that society will “crumble” if same-sex marriage becomes legal:

Mefferd: Ultimately, why do you think this is an issue worth fighting for even if they dub it in the media as a losing issue, the gay marriage issue, why is it worth fighting for?

McClusky: Even more so than the economic issue this is a generational issue. I look at my nieces and nephews, I look at my wife and the children that we hope to have and I understand what would happen to society if marriage were to go away or to be redefined out of existence. Societies that try to do away with marriage, they crumble, they fall apart. We need to emphasize more on the family and without that fight the U.S. will just not be the U.S. anymore.

Mefferd: I unfortunately agree with you on that.

He even floated the creation of a third party composed of disgruntled conservative Republicans and black and Hispanic Democrats who would come together in opposition to gay rights and abortion rights:

Mefferd: If the GOP continues to go in a direction where they will not get on the side of traditional marriage and be willing to fight for it, what do Christians do?

McClusky: I think you will—there are always threats of a third party—I think if something like that were to happen you would see a third party. It would be made up of more than just disgruntled conservative Republicans. On the marriage issue there’s African Americans who normally vote Democratic, there’s Hispanics, and the same on the life issue, and there are a lot of good Democrats like say in the state legislature of New York who fought against same-sex marriage and Maryland who tried to, I think what you see is a lot of people drifting from both parties into a third party or some sort of independent party that is more pro-life and pro-marriage.

Family Research Institute: Gay Rights have 'Doomed' Canada

Paul Cameron’s Family Research Institute knows what is to blame for Canada’s declining fertility rate…gay rights, of course! In the group’s March memo, the FRI claims that gay rights have contributed to the “decline” of birth rates in the West and is threatening the “future for society.” After quoting a gay publication from Vancouver, the group links gay rights to Canada’s low fertility rate: “Canada produces 1.6 children/woman. Its future is thus doomed. Onward gay rights!”

Like frogs in a kettle being slowly boiled to death, FRI frequently hears people — including those concerned about our cultural decline — suggest that the progress of gay rights is not worth a great deal of worry. After all, ‘the sky is not falling. The sun will always come up tomorrow.’ But no matter how ‘big’ or ‘small’ the crisis seems at the moment, the goal of proper social policy is to assure a future for society. As the birth rates of Western countries continue to fall, those who have supported gay rights seem oblivious to the contribution such ‘rights’ make to the decline. Even those who have ‘tolerated’ (or not vigorously opposed) gay rights do not seem to understand the implications. But now the sky is starting to fall. From Xtra, a gay magazine in Vancouver, comes this:

“the gay rights movement is shifting norms in Canada. And with that comes a message to those who won’t evolve: your outdated morals are no longer acceptable, and we will teach your kids the new norm.” (10/20/11)

Canada produces 1.6 children/woman. Its future is thus doomed. Onward gay rights!

But Iran, where homosexuality is a capital offense and gays and lesbians are brutally oppressed, has a similarly small 1.7 births per woman.

Surely, the FRI will come up with a reason to blame gays and lesbians for Iran’s declining fertility rate as well.

Right-Wing Groups Protest Desmond Tutu's Appearance at Gonzaga University

After failing in their attempt to block President Obama from speaking at Notre Dame University, far-right activists are now trying to stop Desmond Tutu from appearing at Gonzaga University, a Jesuit institution. Tutu, an Anglican bishop who received a Nobel Peace Prize for his role in bringing down South Africa’s Apartheid government, is coming under fire from right-wing organizations protesting his views on legal abortion and “affirmation of the homosexual agenda.” The conservative website LifeSiteNews reports that two Catholic groups, the American Life League and TFP Student Action, the political arm of the American Society for Tradition Family and Property, want Gonzaga to rescind its invitation to Archbishop Tutu. TFP Student Action’s director John Ritchie said Gonzaga’s “shameful” decision has “tarnished” its reputation:

Observers are asking why a Catholic university in Spokane would invite Archbishop Desmond Tutu to address its graduating class considering his decades-long record of supporting abortion, homosexuality, female ordination, theological liberalism, and collectivist economic theories condemned by the Roman Catholic Church.

Tutu has posed for a picture on behalf of and endorsed the “invaluable work” of Marie Stopes International, the world’s largest abortion provider. The endorsement, which was discovered by pro-life activist Peter Thorp as he logged one of his more than 1,200 hours of prayer in front of the Cape Town abortion clinic, praises Marie Stopes South Africa for “empowering people” and “giving people the opportunity to make informed decisions about their future and a choice.”

Why should someone who doesn’t even respect the most basic Right to Life be honored at a Catholic university?” asked John Ritchie, director of TFP Student Action, a group that actively promotes the Catholic faith on college campuses. “The invitation is mind-boggling and shameful.”

“The Catholic reputation of Gonzaga University is tarnished by this invitation,” Ritchie said.

Tutu has also been outspoken in his affirmation of the homosexual agenda. “If God, as they say, is homophobic, I wouldn’t worship that God,” he has said. Tutu has also said he was “saddened” and “ashamed” of the negative reaction to the ordination of the openly homosexual Vicki Gene Robinson as an Episcopal bishop in 2003. Six years later, he supported the Church of Scotland’s decision to ordain non-celibate homosexuals.

“On an international scale, Desmond Tutu opposes Catholic teaching on just about every non-negotiable moral issue,” Ritchie told LifeSiteNews. “He’s a strident supporter of abortion, contraception, the homosexual agenda, and Marxist class warfare.”

The American Life League noted in The Pro-Life Encyclopedia that Tutu once said, “I am a Socialist. I hate capitalism.” However, in his encyclical Quadragesimo Anno, Pope Pius XI wrote, “no one can be at the same time a good Catholic and a true socialist.” A series of Popes have rejected Marxist economic theories.

“There’s still time for Gonzaga to cancel and replace Tutu’s appearance for a true Catholic leader, a real role model, a person students can admire and look up to,” Ritchie said. “However, in this case, the dictatorship of relativism seems to be getting the upper hand. If the event takes place, the cause of the unborn will greatly suffer. And who will gain? Only the abortion lobby.”

James Robison Uses 'The Hunger Games' to Argue Against Same-Sex Marriage, Warns Marriage Equality Leads to 'Bondage'

Televangelist James Robison this week appeared on Daystar’s Celebration to promote his new book, ‘Indivisible,’ which he authored with Jay Richards, a leading figure in the anti-evolution Intelligent Design movement. Robison made the case against legalizing same-sex marriage to host Marcus Lamb — who in December, 2010, admitted to having an extramarital affair and was accused of using the network’s money to pay for his trysts — by arguing that same-sex relationships are “defiling the truth” and warning that “when you defile the truth you move into bondage.” He later explained that “out of control appetites” and “out of control behaviors” lead to such bondage because a “totalitarian” government will have to move in to control the urges of the people…just like in “The Hunger Games.” Robison, who once claimed that Glee is a demonic tool bent on bringing down America, argued that Hollywood and public schools are not letting the real message of “The Hunger Games” reach children because they seek to “take people captive and destroy them.”

Watch:

We wrote the book ‘Indivisible’ because we are really convinced that most people in America don’t know the truth. They don’t know the truth about our freedom; they don’t know or understand the real truth about the value of life. We talk about marriage, we don’t get into all of the issues that people are discussing about same-sex marriage, we talk about what marriage is and therefore it cannot be ‘same-sex marriage.’ You may have some same-sex relationships, we may have all kinds of relationships that are contrary and opposite to the word of God, so we are actually defiling the truth and when you defile the truth you move into bondage.

Out of control appetites, the compulsive behavior of men, forms the prisons that hold us captive and we can’t build enough prisons to keep people in who have unchained appetites. We’re living as out of control people and you’ve got a totalitarian, an oppressive government that is moving in to take control. Even ‘Hunger Games’ right now, which is very popular among young people, shows the power of an overbearing totalitarian state that is pressing in upon people, I hope the young people can see that. But the sad thing is, a lot of times Hollywood and the entertainment community will have other messages that they’re also sending out so that you miss the hidden messages that we need. Now remember this, if you’re going to take people captive and destroy them, you’ve got to deceive them in their thinking and in their belief system. Our education system has undermined the principles and foundation stones upon which this nation was established and built, and we’re going to have to return to those foundation stones.

Another Day, Another Freak-Out About 'Homosexual Indoctrination'

Based on the derogatory myth that gays and lesbians use schools to “recruit” children into becoming gay, cries of “homosexual indoctrination” have become a favorite tactic of the Religious Right to stoke fears among gay rights opponents and boost fundraising.

For example, Jennifer Kennedy Cassidy, the daughter of the late D. James Kennedy, yesterday in a fundraising email for Truth in Action Ministries, formerly Coral Ridge Ministries, warned members that the “radical homosexual agenda” will make the “celebration of homosexuality” become “required by law”:

Today our children and grandchildren are under an attack to force them to grow up in a world where homosexuality is NOT simply “tolerated” ... but CELEBRATED.

Not because you want to, but because your celebration of homosexuality is required by law.

We, as God’s people, must oppose anything that contradicts His Word — including the radical homosexual agenda. We must take a stand now — or apologize, in the years to come, to the children and grandchildren whom we have left to be victimized themselves. [emphasis theirs]

Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, responding to a Faithful America campaign asking MSNBC to stop elevating the anti-gay rhetoric of Family Research Council president Tony Perkins, cautioned “Muslim activists” against working with the “Homosexual Lobby” because “they, too — as opponents of the sin of homosexuality – could become a target of the pro-‘queer’ silencing campaign,” which he says will begin “with the indoctrination of young children in schools”:

Do you see what is happening? The intellectual cowards on the Left — puffed up by a compliant media and suffused with enough “gay pride” and arrogance to presume that their aberrant sexual/gender ideology has NO LEGITIMATE OPPOSITION — are busier than ever trying to bully the media into joining their “Pro-Gay-Only” crusade. It is despicable, but worse: it is a grave threat to American liberty. Because when the media en masse kowtow to censorious activists — a road on which they are quite far along with the Homosexual Lobby — accountability, reason and fairness are jettisoned, paving the way for ever more reckless and extreme pressure campaigns against the dreaded “haters.” (That would be you, me and just about anyone who takes a public stand against homosexual behavior or “gay” agenda goals like same-sex “marriage.”)

Libertarians, secular-minded conservatives, and honest liberals, take note: if the Left succeeds in “silencing” all media voices critical of homosexuality and LGBT activism, it will move on to its next target, with gullible media sycophants in tow. Which perhaps explains why savvy Muslim activists and their allies have latched on to making frequent accusations of “Islamophobia” as a means to demonize their opponents (again, mostly Christians).

These opportunistic Muslims should reconsider their tactics. They forget that they, too — as opponents of the sin of homosexuality – could become a target of the pro-”queer” silencing campaign that brooks no dissent in its push for public approval and the power to enforce Political Correctness, beginning with the indoctrination of young children in schools.

Ex-Gay Activist Wants Homosexuality to Go the Way of Pluto

Earlier today we noted that the North Carolina Values Coalition teamed-up with the Southern Baptist Convention for a panel to marshal support for Amendment One, a constitutional amendment barring same-sex marriages and civil unions, which are already banned by statute. Following a speech by Richard Land, panelist Tim Wilkins made the case for why gays and lesbians should not have rights equal to those of their straight counterparts. Wilkins began his remarks by describing how he is “ashamed” of his “past homosexuality.”

Wilkins in fact, is a professional “ex-gay” activist whose ministry “stems from his own freedom from homosexuality some thirty years ago.” He is also a member of NARTH, the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, and organizes a conference that “addresses such topics as If a Friend Says ‘I’m gay’, Debunking the ‘Gay Gene’, ‘What’s a Parent to Do?’, Untwisting ‘Gay Theology’, Counseling the Homosexual, Preventing Homosexuality, and A Biblical Bridge Out of Homosexuality.’”

He maintained that a same-sex relationship is inherently “unequal” and actually “lacks the very diversity it seeks to promote,” urging audience members not to treat homosexuality as a sexual orientation but instead as a “temptation.” Wilkins argued that homosexuality should be reduced to a “temptation” just as Pluto was relegated from its status as a planet to dwarf planet by the International Astronomical Union.

Linda Harvey and Barb Anderson Decry School District's Decision to Try to Stop Anti-Gay Bullying

This weekend Mission America president spoke to Barb Anderson of the Parents Action League and the Minnesota Family Council about Minnesota’s Anoka-Hennepin school district where Anderson’s group had successfully lobbied the school district to stop the school from dealing with anti-gay bias and discrimination as part of its bullying-prevention policy. A number of students who were bullied for being gay or perceived to be gay committed or attempted to commit suicide, and ultimately the school board reversed the policy after six students sued, saying that the district failed to tackle the continuous problem of anti-gay harassment.

Anderson bewailed the school board decision and warned about schools giving access to Gay-Straight Alliances, which she had earlier called “dangerous” and wanted them banned from schools, and seemed to suggest that they even promote pedophilia by calling it a “red flag” that LGBT students “get paired with adult mentors, adult homosexuals” through GSA clubs. Harvey said that GSA’s do not help protect LGBT students since “they’re advocating going into this lifestyle” and said gay-rights advocates “have manipulated this entire tragedy.”

Harvey: ‘Protection.’ That word ‘protection.’ They say they are protecting homosexual kids, no they’re not, if they’re advocating going into this lifestyle, that’s not protection.

Anderson: Absolutely not. In fact, when they get into the Gay-Straight Alliances many of the kids get affirmed in this sexual behavior which can lead to disease and terrible relationships in the future. Many of them are steered into gay drop-in centers where they get paired with adult mentors, adult homosexuals, I mean this should be a red flag for any parent. These Gay-Straight Alliances train these kids to be political activists. In fact at the press conference one of the comments that they made about these six plaintiffs, ‘they started off as victims but now they are going to be activists and will be out there presenting their cause,’ so they are going to use these kids in the future as well.

Harvey: And they are being manipulated. They have manipulated this entire tragedy, they saw the issue of the suicides, the tragedy of kids being self-destructive, and then they jumped on it, that’s just the long and short of it.

Anderson: Yes, that’s right.

The two also attacked the Southern Poverty Law Center, which led the lawsuit along with the National Center for Lesbian Rights against the school district, for trying to prevent bullying by “indoctrinating kids with homosexuality” and listing both of their organizations as anti-gay hate groups. Anderson said that the SPLC is “totally opposed to Judeo-Christian values, they really hate Christians and hate evangelicals,” and bemoaned that they listed “pro-family, pro-traditional values” as hate groups when in fact it is the SPLC “that should be considered a hate group.” Harvey later in the interview said that the only organization on their list she thinks is a hate group is Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church.

Harvey: Here we have the Southern Poverty Law Center which has named our group recently as an anti-gay group and yours, Parents Action League, as well, they were part of this and they have this whole section in their organization called Teaching Tolerance which is just, I mean I just roll my eyes because they have no tolerance. They’ve been big on tracking the Ku Klux Klan and actual racism but now they’re broadening this and trying to muddy the waters by a smack down on traditional values, isn’t that what’s really going on here?

Anderson: Yes they are just totally opposed to Judeo-Christian values, they really hate Christians and hate evangelicals. We can have anti-bullying programs that can eliminate bad behavior without indoctrinating kids with homosexuality, but that is what they want.

Anderson: The Southern Poverty Law Center is the group that should be considered a hate group. The common thread that they have of all the groups that they have listed are basically good, pro-family, pro-traditional values, decent organizations that they’ve put on their list.

LaBarbera: Obama 'Should be Impeached' for Trying to 'Pander to his Homosexual Activist Base'

Last week we reported that the Family Research Council asked members to pray against “homosexual tyranny” in America after the federal government agreed to have Blue Cross Blue Shield offer full benefits for a same-sex spouse of a federal employee after a judge ruled in favor of the employee in her lawsuit against the Defense of Marriage Act. Naturally, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality president Peter LaBarbera is demanding that Congress impeach President Obama as a result of his administration’s decision to grant her health benefits:

"This is another shocking act by the Obama administration, which has got to be the most arrogant and Constitution-abusing president in America's history," he decides. "The Obama administration didn't like the Defense of Marriage Act, which was passed by Congress [and] signed into law by then-President Clinton, and so now they're just ignoring it and blatantly disregarding it."

This particular case, however, is not over, as Republicans have appealed the district court's decision, which has no effect on enrollments requested by other same-sex couples. Even though the law is being challenged in court, LaBarbera says it is still the law.

"I believe that President Obama should be impeached on this alone," he suggests. "He's not dictator of the United States of America; he's president, and he can't just ignore the law, ignore the Constitution, to pander to his homosexual activist base."

More FRC Hypocrisy: Only Conservatives Should be allowed to Boycott Companies

The Family Research Council is predictably enraged that gay rights advocates are encouraging businesses and organizations not to partner with a t-shirt company that refused to print t-shirts for a pride festival, since “homosexuals will not be satisfied until they compel us to either spread their perversion or promote it”:

A Kentucky company called "Hands On" wishes liberals would keep their "hands off!" On Monday, homosexuals filed a complaint with the Lexington Human Rights Commission because the business turned down a request to print t-shirts for a gay pride parade. Co-owner Blain Adamson declined, saying Hands On is a Christian company, and as such, it is their "prerogative to refuse any order that would endorse positions that conflict with the convictions of the ownership." Now that the local commission insists on investigating, even the Lexington school district is putting a hold on all of its purchases. According to the commission, Hands On could be in violation of the city's anti-discrimination policy because it deals in "goods and services to the public."

But just because it sells to the public doesn't mean it has to surrender its private views. Like any business, Hands On has the freedom to establish its own criteria of conduct and conscience. The same applies whether the clients are Planned Parenthood, the Ku Klux Klan, or baby seal hunters. And in this instance, the Adamsons' Christian beliefs aren't the only thing opposed to the homosexual agenda. So is Kentucky law. Neither civil unions nor homosexual "marriage" are recognized by the state.

Not surprisingly, the Left still insists that personal morality take a backseat to its radical agenda. Whether it's a t-shirt company, wedding photographer, or the church, homosexuals will not be satisfied until they compel us to either spread their perversion or promote it. Unfortunately for these activists, the Constitution doesn't award its rights on the basis of political correctness. And until that changes, Blain Adamson has as much freedom to reject homosexuality as his customers do to endorse it.

Indeed, the Family Research Council’s brave stance against boycott campaigns and defense of the t-shirt company’s “freedom to establish its own criteria of conduct and conscience” would make more sense if the FRC itself wasn’t leading boycott campaigns of its own against the Girl Scouts. Tony Perkins of the FRC himself encouraged people to stop purchasing Girl Scout cookies and signing their children up to become members because of the group’s alleged ties to Planned Parenthood:

Someone else has their hand in the Girl Scouts cookie jar--and it's not who think. Hello, I'm Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. There are plenty of politics behind that box of Thin Mints, and you should know what they are before you go buying one. As sweet as the girls are, a lot of that cookie dough goes to straight to the group's political agenda. When they aren't partnering with Planned Parenthood, they're promoting sexual "diversity." Last year, the Girl Scouts decided to admit boys who dress as girls--which shouldn't come as a surprise, says FRC's Cathy Ruse, since they have a cross-dresser in their front office. And that's not all. "Earlier this month, a Girl Scout Employee... made the mistake of stopping by the office to do extra work on her own time in a T-shirt [that said] 'Pray to End Abortion.' A supervisor ordered her to turn the shirt inside out or leave the office. She left, for good." So, says Cathy Ruse, should we all.

The group even asked for prayers calling on the Girl Scouts to repent, gloating that because of the boycott against the Girl Scouts “their cookie sales are suffering.”

The FRC also backed boycotts of McDonalds and Wal-Mart for their ties to the Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, and is now encouraging people to boycott Starbucks for supporting a marriage equality bill.

Essentially, the FRC believes it is absolutely improper and appalling for gay rights advocates to lead a boycott of a company over policies they find discriminatory and offensive, but when it comes to the FRC’s boycotts against the Girl Scouts, McDonalds, Wal-Mart and Starbucks then boycotts are perfectly acceptable.

Matt Barber says there is 'No Evidence' of Anti-LGBT Violence, Discrimination

Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber once again is trying to deny reality by arguing that there is “no evidence” of violence against the LGBT community. Barber said that while he opposes “violence against people who engage in these aberrant sexual behaviors,” he also opposes efforts to investigate and prevent such violence and discrimination. While speaking with Liberty Counsel chairman Mat Staver on Faith & Freedom today, Barber reiterated his support of countries that outlaw homosexuality and warned that anti-violence measures are a “Trojan Horse” to repress the church and anyone who holds “traditional values.”

Watch:

Unless any of our detractors, which I know they will, attempt to say that we are advocating violence against people who engage in these aberrant sexual behaviors, that is of course not the case, nobody I know favors of course violence, we all are opposed to violence against any individual for anything. But that’s not what’s happening here. What’s happening is they’re using this specter of some kind of notion of ‘mass violence’ committed against homosexuals, they do the same thing here in the United States, ‘mass discrimination,’ something where there is no evidence of course against people who are engaged in these behaviors. They use that as a Trojan Horse to force, to compel nations and individuals and groups and churches that embrace traditional values, relative to sexual behavior, to push them into the closet and say ‘no, no, you have to adopt a full affirmation of these perversions.’

Scott Lively is repeating his completely baseless claim that gay people are behind anti-gay violence in Russia, this time claiming that a Human Rights Watch video about attacks on gay people is “just another piece of deceptive Machiavellian ‘gay’ propaganda.” Warning: graphic content. The anti-gay pastor points to no evidence besides his own hunch video that several of the assaults seen in such video are likely staged as part of a larger “hoax.” In an article today on BarbWire, a website run by Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber, Lively writes: Last... Today is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, which Bryan Fischer honored on his radio program by reading from a CDC fact sheet noting that "blacks make up only 12% of the U.S. population but had nearly half (44%) of all new HIV infections in the United States in 2010" in order to declare that he wants homosexuality to be illegal because he loves black males. "This is black genocide," he said. "Let me put it bluntly," Fischer declared. "If you are for the legalization of homosexuality, you are for the acceptability of homosexuality, you are for the... As you probably already know, right-wing commentators had a complete and utter meltdown over Coca-Cola’s “America the Beautiful” ad during the Super Bowl. Along with complaints that the ad featured eight different languages, several pundits criticized the inclusion of same-sex parents. Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality was among them, complaining that Coca-Cola is trying to “pander to the ‘Gay’ Lobby” in its attempt to have Americans “conditition to accept sexual perversion as normal.” "Coke's Super Bowl... Americans For Truth About Homosexuality director Peter LaBarbera said yesterdat that the U.S. should copy Russia’s “homosexual propaganda” law in order to censor shows like “Good Luck Charlie,” the Disney show that recently came under attack from Religious Right activists for featuring a same-sex couple. “Look at the Disney show, they are promoting lesbianism to kids who don’t even know what sex is yet,” LaBarbera said in an interview with the American Family Association’s Sandy Rios. “How are kids going to process that information... Representatives of the World Congress of Families held a news conference at the National Press Club on Wednesday to talk about their 2014 summit, which will be held in Moscow in September.  The WCF and the Religious Right groups it partners with are ardent promoters of anti-gay legislation worldwide, and they love Russia's anti-gay President Vladimir Putin.  Earlier this week the WCF announced that the opening session would be held in the Congress Hall of the Kremlin Palace, that a special parliamentary session will also be held in the Russian Duma and a special scientific... Religious Right talk show host Kevin Swanson is joining other conservative pundits in trashing the Grammy Awards for becoming, in his words, a “satanic pagan orgy.” Swanson said that the award show “was a celebration of fornication, twerking, stripping and satanic rituals,” and claimed the mass wedding that included same-sex couples was inspired by Roman Emperor Nero. Swanson has an explanation for all of this: The Beatles are to blame. According to Swanson, The Beatles encouraged a “secular, demonic approach to things” in pop culture, and lashed out at... MORE

After endorsing Uganda’s crackdown on gay people, the Family Research Institute has posted another statement saluting the country for deciding to “be harsh with those who choose to act on homosexual desires.” The group, which is led by Paul Cameron, also insisted that the death penalty remain an option in punishing gays: “Depending on the severity of the homosexual offense, a fine, prison time or even capital punishment is warranted. The most important thing is to make it illegal, and thus keep those who fancy it (or seem addicted to it), off the streets, out of... MORE
