Starbucks Ruined Peter LaBarbera's Mother's Day With 'Alphabetic Homoerotic Embrace'

Peter LaBarbera said today that his Mother’s Day was ruined by the sight of “snuggling Starbucks lesbians” in an ad the coffee company put out to mark the holiday.

The Americans for Truth about Homosexuality president was angry that the ad not only included a “deviant and immoral” lesbian couple but also featured what he considered to be “an alphabetic homoerotic embrace.”

LaBarbera lamented that a boycott of the coffee chain, championed by anti-gay groups including the National Organization for Marriage and the Family Research Council, has grown “anemic” and called for a new pressure campaign to reach Starbucks executives who “aren’t acting like they fear the consumer power of mobilized religious conservatives.”

For Mother’s Day Starbucks released the commercial below, voiced by Oprah Winfrey and hawking a new “Oprah Chai” tea. The ad celebrates all sorts of moms–including the “two moms are better than one mom”–shown with the affectionate lesbian “moms” at right and the “M’s” in “MOM” in what I suppose is an alphabetic homoerotic embrace. Messages like this no long shock a post-Christian America shaped in part by decadent corporations pandering to the highly organized LGBT lobby. Starbucks already has sold its corporate soul (is that an oxymoron?) to the homosexual agenda. Its executives made that clear in 2012 when they defiantly rebuffed a boycott threat by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and affirmed that support for homosexual “marriage” is a “core” Starbucks value.

The NOM “Dump Starbucks” boycott that followed seems anemic two years later (only 68,200 pledges)–but Starbucks [877-421-9062] remains a plump target for a more effectual and better organized boycott. Let’s face it: finding substitutes for overpriced yuppie coffee is pretty easy. We’ll see what happens, but one thing is certain: Starbucks execs are not backing down in their support of sexual sin and they surely aren’t acting like they fear the consumer power of mobilized religious conservatives.

As for single moms, our hearts go out to the many women who find themselves struggling to provide for their children with no dad in the house. But at least in most cases, single moms did not set out to deny their kids a father–just as single straight dads–unlike homosexual two-”dad” households–did not intentionally create motherless homes. And unlike those snuggling Starbucks lesbians in the ad below, single moms are not modeling deviant and immoral behavior condemned by God to their innocent children.

Fischer Blasts The NFL For 'Celebrating Something That Could Destroy Michael Sam's Life'

Bryan Fischer's love for young, black males has been well-established and it is precisely why he wants to see homosexuality made illegal.

It was with this love in mind that Fischer spent two full segments of his radio broadcast today railing against the NFL for celebrating the drafting of Michael Sam instead of putting him into "ex-gay" reparative therapy.

Calling Sam's drafting a "debacle," Fischer proclaimed that the NFL "is conducting itself in a horribly irresponsible fashion" by "celebrating something that could destroy Michael Sam's life."

"They know the kind of behavior that Michael Sam is engaged in," Fischer lamented. "He had a big, wet sloppy kiss with his gay lover right in front of world and everybody ... and it is behavior that will destroy his life."

If the NFL was really concerned with Sam's well-being, Fischer went on the argue, the league would be encouraging him to begin ex-gay therapy.

"Alas, the only people who truly care for Michael Sam are those who love him enough to tell him the truth about the health risks of homosexual behavior," Fischer concluded, saying that the NFL leadership "long ago sold their souls to the virulent, vitriolic bullies and bigots of 'big gay'":

Anti-Gay Activists Were 'Grossed Out' By Michael Sam's 'Cringe-Inducing' Kiss

It didn’t take long for the anti-gay Right to respond in shock to college football player Michael Sam kissing his boyfriend after receiving a call notifying him that he was being drafted by the St. Louis Rams.

Before Sam was even drafted, lobbyist David Burkman announced that he and a “coalition of Evangelical Christian leaders from across the nation” would organize a “relentless” boycott of whichever NFL team drafted the openly gay defensive end.

When Sam was shown receiving the good news, a mortified Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality tweeted about the player’s “perversion.”

American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer tweeted that people who truly love Sam “would urge him toward therapy,” and in his column today encouraged the NFL to meet “privately with Michael Sam to urge him in the strongest possible terms to pursue reparative therapy in the hopes of saving his life.”

“[T]he only people who truly care for Mr. Sam are those who love him enough to tell him the truth about the health risks of homosexual behavior,” he added.

The editor-in-chief of Herman Cain’s website, Best of Cain, was also upset about the “cringe-inducing” “public homosexual displays of affection.” Dan Calabrese wrote that “the natural inclination of the human being to look at two men kissing and say, ‘Ewwww!’” actually “comes from God,” and acceptance of gay people amounts to “rebellion against God.”

Cue the media, which couldn't tell us enough how wonderful it was that the openly homosexual Sam - upon hearing the news he was drafted - laid a smooch on his boyfriend on live TV. Look, everyone! See two men kissing each other! How wonderful!

And it was only a matter of time until someone who thought it was actually kind of cringe-inducing said so publicly, and that someone turned out to be Miami Dolphins safety Don Jones. He tweeted the following succinct commentary: "omg . . . horrible"

Please note: That is not allowed.

The rules are simple. People who wish to engage in PHDA (public homosexual displays of affection) will do so as openly as they like. The media will show these PHDAs to us repeatedly and at every opportunity. You are to watch. You have a choice between expressing your glee or saying nothing. However, if you are asked what you think, you must say it is wonderful. This is mandatory.

What the culture is trying to do to Don Jones - now with the full buy-in of the NFL - is to force a reprogramming of people's natural reaction to things. It insists on showing us pictures of two men kissing, and when we don't react to that positively, saying to us: You ignoramuses! You don't mind when NFL draftees kiss their girlfriends! This is no different!

And because this comes from God, so too does the natural inclination of the human being to look at two men kissing and say, "Ewwww!" Many people don't want to see it. That's why we chose not to show the kiss in the photo above. I can't rail against the media for shoving that image in our faces and then shove it in your face.

The culture that is in fullscale rebellion against God attacks this natural inclination, but it is still there. I don't think it was particularly wise for Don Jones to tweet what he did, but why do the gay-is-wonderful people have the right to put any image and any message they want in front of us, while no one has the right to give their honest reaction to it?

What the Dolphins did to Don Jones is the latest triumph of fascism. It is the controlling of people's thoughts and their expressions thereof. It matters not at all that the government is not the official perpetrator of this control. The source is a political movement, and it happens to be the very political movement that supports the people in power in this country at the moment.

But more to the point, the culture is demanding that people reject the Word of God on the matter of homosexuality, or pay the price.

4 WINDS Christian Athletics denounced the NFL for “caving into the homosexual agenda”:

The floodgates of immorality have increased dramatically in sports. An NFL team has drafted an open homosexual player, the USA Olympic Committee is promoting homosexuality, and Nike is funding a gay marriage political action committee (PAC) in Oregon.

The St. Louis Rams selected Michael Sam in the seventh round of the NFL draft. After being selected, Sam kissed his gay lover on ESPN in celebration.

"There has always been sinners in sports as sports is a reflection of society. However, the floodgates of immorality have dramatically increased over the last few years," says 4 WINDS President Steve McConkey. "Sports people throughout the world are caving into the homosexual agenda."

Judson Phillips of Tea Party Nation also defended those who “were grossed out by the spectacle of two men kissing on TV,” arguing that the NFL should lose its tax-exempt status if it continues to “push an agenda.”

He was drafted and in what was very clearly a scripted movement for television, he kissed another man.

The reaction was quick.

Many Americans were grossed out by the spectacle of two men kissing on TV. Many were appalled by what was obviously a staged event to push an agenda.

Over the last few years, the NFL has become much more of an arm of the political left. From the Baltimore Ravens pitching Obamacare to the NFL’s implied threats to move the Super Bowl from Arizona if Governor Jan Brewer did not veto Arizona’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the NFL is acting like an arm of Organizing for Obama.

Perhaps it is time for real Americans to say enough. If the NFL wants to be political, then it can be. We don’t have to watch the NFL and we should ask our Senators and Congressmen why the NFL remains a tax-exempt organization?

Barbwire: Hallmark 'Defiles Mother's Day' With Two-Moms Card

Matt Barber’s Barbwire celebrated Mother’s Day yesterday by sounding the alarm about a report by the British LGBT site PinkNews that Hallmark has issued a card for people with two moms.

PinkNews reports that the card says, “When it comes to big hearts, mums are second to none, how does anyone ever get by with just one?”

BarbWire responded with an article by managing editor Brian Fitzpatrick, entitled “Hallmark Defiles Mother’s Day with 2 Moms Card,” which was featured as the top story on BarbWire’s daily newsletter.

“Despite its wholesome reputation for producing family-friendly movies, Hallmark has embraced the sexualized view of “diversity,” granting practitioners of homosexuality and other aberrant sexual behaviors the same status as ethnic minorities,” Fitzpatrick writes.

Despite its wholesome reputation for producing family-friendly movies, Hallmark has embraced the sexualized view of 'diversity,' granting practitioners of homosexuality and other aberrant sexual behaviors the same status as ethnic minorities. According to the company’s 'Diversity at Hallmark' web page, 'We also support and rely upon Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that offer opportunities for African American, Hispanic, Asian American, Millennial, Military and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender employees to share common interests and give perspective on product development.'

David Benham In His Own Words: Gays 'Destructive,' 'Vile,' Controlled By 'Demonic Forces'

On Tuesday, we reported that David Benham, an anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-Muslim activist, had landed a house-flipping show on HGTV. Benham is someone who had been on our radar: he was featured on Right Wing Watch 2012, when he organized and funded an anti-gay prayer rally to coincide with the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

The day after our report went up, HGTV announced without comment that it was dropping the show, which was to be hosted by Benham and his twin brother Jason.

Since our first story came out, many other examples of the brothers’ right-wing activism have surfaced. Back in 2004, the Benham brothers encouraged Charlotte [PDF] to deny a permit to an LGBT Pride event, with David insisting that the parade’s “filth” and “destructive,” “vile” activity “should not be allowed in our city.” Jeremy Hooper first reported on their remarks:

David Benham, 6130 Ferncliff Road, said I would agree 100% that this type of activity is destructive, and a tragedy. If you will look in your packet you will see one of the shems, his name was Steve the Drag Queen. He described some of the acts he witnessed and feels the Council has had the wool pulled over their eyes because the permit says for celebration and fellowship for the lesbian, gay bisexual transgender community. I saw first hand what celebration and fellowship was all about. This is filth, this is vile and should not be allowed in our City. I have a one-year old, a three-year old and a five-year old and I want them to grow up in a city that will honor the folks that are in it.

Jason Benham, 761 Harris Street, Concord, said I have a 6-month old daughter and a 2 ½ year old little boy and when I stood out there in Marshall Park and heard the comedian say I am an out lesbian, I love 4-year old girls and I call them "dykes on triks, they are hard to come by but, boy are they good." I stood out there crying in my heart that only 40 or 50 of us Christian men went out there to try to give these homosexuals another answer. We were not there to bash them, we were there to tell them that Jesus loves you just the way you are, but he refuses to leave you that way. They have a right to apply for this permit, but you have a right and responsibility to deny it. I employ you not to be governed by the fear in which you feel. If you deny them this permit you will open a can of worms but you in your leadership position have to take that responsibility and you have to not allow the fear of making this homosexual community mad. You have to accept that responsibility and deny them every permit that they ask for.

David Benham also falsely claimed during an interview with CNN’s OutFront yesterday that he never compared gay rights advocates to Nazis, although he did exactly that in this article:

In terms of Ken’s take on Referendum 74 (same sex marriage vote), if evil is being accepted and appreciated at the national level, aggressive Christian men must lead the charge against it. In the late 1940′s England realized this truth with Neville Chamberlain’s Policy of Appeasement and the Nazi regime. Chamberlain thought he could somehow “appease” the fuehrer, yet Winston Churchill aggressively stood against this policy and proclaimed that they must kill Hitler and destroy the regime in its entirety. It wasn’t long before Chamberlain’s “politically correct” policy fell flat on its face, and Churchill – the more aggressive man – took the reins and joined America in defeating the beast called, Naziism [sic].

David also alleged in a 2012 interview with anti-gay activist Michael Brown that the “homosexual agenda” —along with Islam and abortion rights — are part of “demonic forces and agendas.”

In an interview with Janet Mefferd about his Democratic National Convention prayer rally, he said that “homosexuality and its agenda” are “attacking the nation.”

You can find additional public statements Benham has made about homosexuality, Islam and abortion rights in our previous reports.

Flashback: David Benham Described Homosexuality As Demonic, Warned Islam Is Taking Over America

When HGTV pulled the plug on a reality TV show starring North Carolina real estate dealers and brothers David and Jason Benham following a Right Wing Watch report on David’s anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-Muslim activism, David Benham insisted that the network withdrew support due to misinformation and “lying,” asserting that neither he nor his brother “hate homosexuals.”

Although Religious Right activists have been rushing to defend Benham, none has yet been able to explain how Right Wing Watch’s list of verbatim quotes from Benham constituted misinformation.

In fact, the interviews we featured in our post are just examples of Benham’s large portfolio of right-wing activism. Since writing our original post, we have found several other examples of Benham’s extremism.

Benham’s group refers to abortion rights as a “holocaust” and said that “the devil” was behind Roe v. Wade.

In a January 2012 interview, Benham explained his “love” for homosexuals when he suggested that gay people are under the control of “demonic forces,” arguing that once he succeeds in recriminalizing abortion, he will next defeat the “homosexual agenda” and Islam.

Benham was speaking with none other than Michael Brown, an anti-gay activist who has gone so far as to defend Uganda’s brutal homosexuality law and who leads a group which includes Benham as a board member.

Benham: We have the tools, we have the stones, we have the weapons, we’ve been faithful with the lion and bear stories, we’re charging at this Goliath called abortion and when we take Goliath down, I promise you, all of the church will start coming out of the caves. The homosexual agenda is next, tolerance towards radical Islam is next, we’re going to start taking these Goliaths down, we’re not afraid anymore.

Brown: To take them down means with the life of Jesus, light instead of darkness, life instead of death, transformation instead of bondage.

Benham: ‘Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the principalities, rulers and authorities of darkness.’ We love these people and so we are not going to allow the demonic forces and agendas behind them to destroy life.

In an August 2012 edition of Brown’s show, Benham said that Islam is a “demonic agenda that wants to come and take America” and repeated the bogus right-wing myth that President Obama endorsed a Muslim prayer rally.

He also told Brown that he is leading a “spiritual battle” against Islam, warning that the United States will soon “change gods,” embrace Islam and invite war.

Previously, the Anti-Defamation League reported that Benham called mosques a “den of iniquity” and said Muslims are “enslaved in the tyrannical bondage of Islam” and are “the enemy attacking” America.

Todd Starnes Says LGBT Activists Will Demand Christians Be Deported; Religious Right Got There First

Fox News pundit Todd Starnes joins the parade of right-wing outrage about the Home & Garden Television Network pulling the plug on a show featuring David and Jason Benham after Right Wing Watch reported on David’s anti-gay activism.  Starnes posted a story about HGTV’s decision, then promoted it with a tweet that said,

Hmm, you mean the way Family Research Council spokesman Peter Sprigg said in 2008 that he would like to export homosexuals from the U.S. because homosexuality is destructive to society?  Sprigg apologized for using language that “did not communicate respect for the essential dignity of every human being as a person created in the image of God.” But since then he has said that gay sex should be criminalized.

Tony Perkins, Arbiter Of Christianity, Says Pro-Gay Christians Don't Have Same Religious Rights As Conservatives

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins implied today that Christians who support gay rights don’t have the same religious rights as conservative Christians because “true religious freedom” only applies to “orthodox religious viewpoints.”

Last month, a group of North Carolina ministers and same-sex couples, along with the United Church of Christ denomination, filed a lawsuit challenging North Carolina’s constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.

The clergy argue that because of a law that makes it a misdemeanor for a member of the clergy to perform a marriage ceremony without a state license, the same-sex marriage ban violates the religious rights of clergy who wish to perform such ceremonies.

When a caller on Monday’s edition of “Washington Watch” asked Perkins about his views on the case, Perkins replied that the ministers don’t have the same religious rights as others because they aren’t real Christians and therefore aren’t protected by the “true religious freedoms” given to Christians.

As we know, only Tony Perkins gets to decide who is and isn’t a Christian and has religious rights under the law.

Caller: I wanted to see if I can get your response to the members of the clergy in Charlotte that are suing for the right to perform gay marriages, saying that the ban on gay marriage infringes on their religious rights. It’s my understanding that they are a Christian organization, it’s normally the other way around, and so I’m curious to hear what you got to say about it.

Perkins: I would use that term ‘Christian’ loosely. That title is — let’s talk biblical, here’s the deal, it’s like with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act that we worked on in Mississippi and failed in Arizona and other places, here’s a test of what is a true religious freedom, a freedom that’s based on orthodox religious viewpoints. It has to have a track record, it has to come forth from religious orthodoxy.

You cannot point to the Christian faith and say that same-sex marriage has been a key teaching of the church. You can only point to the opposite, that the church has stood against sexual immorality in terms of sexual relations of those outside of marriage and in particular homosexual behavior. There is no place, there is nothing for them to stand on and say that same-sex marriage has standing in the orthodox Christian faith.

They’re playing games here, trying to turn the effort that so many Americans are now faced with of preserving religious freedom, they’re now trying to do a jujitsu move and say, ‘We’re going to use religious freedom to say we have a right to do same-sex marriage.’ Well, there is no foundation for that, there is no orthodox Christian holding that has ever said marriage is between people of the same sex.

Fischer Says 'Equality Is A Totally Bogus Word' Because Homosexuality Is Not Equal To Heterosexuality

Nintendo has announced that it will not allow same-sex marriages to take place among characters in its life simulation game "Tomodachi Life" and Bryan Fischer, not surprisingly, fully supports that position, explaining on his radio program yesterday that "the word 'equality' is a totally bogus word when they talk about equality between homosexuality and heterosexuality."

"They are not equal," Fischer said. "They are not equality in morality. They are not equal in worth. They are not equal in procreative power. They are not equal in their consistency with God's design. There is no equality between homosexuality and heterosexuality."

"One is a normal expression of human sexuality," he continued, "the other is a sexually deviant expression":

Benham Family Responds To HGTV Decision: 'Lying' Reports Sunk Show, Homosexuality 'Destroys' Nations

Yesterday, HGTV decided not to move forward with a reality TV show starring David Benham, less than 24 hours after Right Wing Watch exposed him as a far-right activist who has compared gays to Nazis and warned marriage equality will destroy society. Immediately, of course, the Religious Right drummed up the “persecution” narrative.

Anti-gay commentators including Laura IngrahamDavid LimbaughErick EricksonBryan Fischer, Ralph Reed, Todd StarnesPeter LaBarbera and Janet Mefferd — along with groups including the Family Research Council and Faith Driven Consumer — all criticized HGTV for axing the show.

LaBarbera, who once joined fellow Religious Right activists in demanding that Fox News “cease using [gay rights advocate Wayne] Besen as a guest commentator,” appeared on Mefferd’s radio show today, where the two charged that HGTV’s cancellation of the show with undermined the freedom of speech.

Pat Robertson called the move “outrageous” and a sign that society is no longer “built around the Bible.” “Good grief, isn’t there supposed to be some freedom? Aren’t we supposed to have a First Amendment?”

He even linked it to a case in Saudi Arabia where a blogger was sentenced to 10 years in jail along with 1,000 lashes for allegedly insulting Islam.

David Benham and his brother Jason said in a statement that the controversy over their show was a result of “lying” and misinformation:

"The first and last thought on our minds as we begin and end each day is; have we shined Christ's light today? Our faith is the fundamental calling in our lives, and the centerpiece of who we are. As Christians we are called to love our fellow man. Anyone who suggests that we hate homosexuals or people of other faiths is either misinformed or lying. Over the last decade, we've sold thousands of homes with the guiding principle of producing value and breathing life into each family that has crossed our path, and we do not, nor will we ever discriminate against people who do not share our views."

Their father Flip Benham, in an interview with LifeSiteNews, warned that “Christianity [is] systematically being criminalized” by “this juggernaut of the homosexual agenda.”

“Homosexuality is not a good thing,” he added. “It destroys those who practice it and nations that approve of it.”

The boys' father, Flip Benham, told LifeSiteNews.com exclusively that his family had not been notified about the cancellation before the network's public announcement. “We have some contractual obligations to the people we are helping right now,” he said.

Flip Benham called the homosexual activist lobby “the biggest bully in the country.”

“There's no one who dares oppose them,” he told LifeSiteNews. “No corporation would dare stand up to this juggernaut of the homosexual agenda.”

He said his family did nothing to hide their views from the network, which is distributed to 98 million U.S. households. “We knew – and so did HGTV – that this was a possibility,” Benham told LifeSiteNews.

He was sorry his sons had to pay for the actions of their father. “I think of my sons, who have to suffer for the fact that their dad speaks up about the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” he said. But he held firm: “Homosexuality is not a good thing. It destroys those who practice it and nations that approve of it.”

“All over the country the battle's being won, and now this battle has moved from one manifestation right into another,” calling the drive to normalize homosexuality “simply a different colored glove covering the same fist.”

“We are see [sic] Christianity systematically being criminalized,” Benham told LifeSiteNews, referencing this campaign and proposed “hate crimes” legislation. “If you are going to stand on what the Bible says, you are going to spend time in jail.”

Anti-Gay Groups Take Out Two Pro-Equality Indiana GOP State Reps

Two incumbent Republican state representatives in Indiana lost primary elections after national anti-gay groups targeted them for their votes against a state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

Kathy Heuer and Rebecca Kubacki were among eleven Republicans who voted against the marriage amendment in January. The amendment will next have to be placed on the statewide ballot, which won't happen until 2016 at the earliest .

According to the National Organization for Marriage, NOM, the American Family Association of Indiana, Focus on the Family’s political arm Citizenlink, the Family Research Council and the FRC’s Indiana affiliate the Indiana Family Institute were all involved in the effort to unseat the pro-marriage lawmakers. NOM writes:

NOM, the Indiana Family Institute, the American Family Association of Indiana, Citizenlink, and Family Research Council Action had warned politicians before the marriage amendment vote in the legislature that if they did not give the people the chance to vote on marriage this year, there would be political repercussions. After the failure of the legislature to pass the question to the voters, the coalition worked together to choose its targets, particularly the ousting of Heuer and Kubacki while protecting marriage champions.

The Indianapolis Star reports that the Indiana Family Institute’s political arm "ran $12,000 worth of radio ads in the Fort Wayne area targeting Heuer, Kubacki, and a third incumbent, Casey Cox of Fort Wayne,” who won his primary contest. The FRC-affiliated group also reportedly sent out 10,000 mailers in support of the marriage amendment’s sponsor in his successful effort to fend off a primary challenger.

In February, NOM and Citizenlink started airing radio ads against at least one Republican state lawmaker who ultimately voted for the marriage amendment, but supported a change that would remove a ban on civil unions from the measure, thus pushing back the schedule for getting the ban on the ballot. The groups accused proponents of the change of bringing “San Francisco-style marriage” to Indiana.

In a statement, FRC president Tony Perkins touted his organization’s recent poll on how Republican voters view marriage equality and claimed that “elected officials can no longer avoid the reality that the redefinition of marriage leads to the loss of our most basic freedoms.”

"The election outcome reinforces the findings of an FRC-commissioned survey released last month showing three-quarters of Republican voters want their elected officials to uphold natural marriage as the national standard. Voters in Indiana and across the country are now realizing that much more than marriage is on the line. Elected officials can no longer avoid the reality that the redefinition of marriage leads to the loss of our most basic freedoms.

"Redefining natural marriage is about far more than the marriage altar; it is about fundamentally altering society. In the wake of same-sex marriage, religious freedom and parental rights have been lost. Business owners, like florists, bakers and photographers, have been hauled into court, fined and even put out of business for simply refusing to participate in a same-sex wedding. But it doesn't stop there; university professors, sportscasters and even members of the military have been demoted or fired for simply believing marriage is the union of one man and one woman. Families have been impacted as parents have lost the right to determine whose values are taught to their children," concluded Perkins.

HGTV Backs Away From Reality Show Starring Anti-Gay Activist Following RWW Report

UPDATE: Additional remarks of Benham attacking homosexuality as "destructive" and "demonic" have also surfaced.

HGTV announced today that the recently unveiled reality TV show, Flip it Forward, about realtor David Benham, a virulent anti-gay activist, will not move forward after all.

Yesterday, the network said it was in the “process of reviewing all information about the Benhams.”

As we reported yesterday, David Benham is a right-wing activist who has campaigned against LGBT equality and reproductive rights, taking after his father, preacher Flip Benham:

Last month, the HGTV network announced that it will launch a new reality TV show, “Flip it Forward,” starring David and Jason Benham. The twin brothers will “leverage their good-natured sibling rivalry to help families find a fixer-upper and transform it into the dream home they never thought they could afford.”

What the announcement didn't mention is that at least one of the Benhams is not just a real estate dealer but also a dedicated right-wing activist in the mold of his father, Flip Benham, who has headed the abortion-clinic protest group Operation Save America ever since it split from the militant anti-choice group Operation Rescue.

As leader of OSA, Benham has condemned the interfaith Sandy Hook memorial, protested in front of mosques while shouting “Jesus Hates Muslims” and blamed the Aurora shooting on the Democratic Party, which he said promotes a “culture of death.”

He has also protested LGBT pride events, interrupted church services during a sermon by “sodomite Episcopalian bishop” Gene Robinson and was found “guilty of stalking a Charlotte abortion doctor after passing out hundreds of ‘wanted’ posters with the physician's name and photo on it.” OSA* even blamed the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on abortion rights:

As smoke rises from the ashes in New York City the nation and the world’s attention is turned towards the evil that has committed this heinous crime. A crime of passion that has shed the innocent blood of thousands of victims both male and female young and old. The question is who is responsible for the carnage those who did the detestable act or whose sins brought it about.

God’s word clearly says bloodshed begets bloodshed He also tells us whatsoever a man sows so shall he reap. What we as a nation have sowed in shedding innocent blood on a daily basis at abortion clinics has come home to roost upon all of us. Yes whether we like it or not we are all guilty of permitting the sin of abortion in our nation. This includes you and I (Pro-life) pro-choice and the entire network of our society.

Flip's son, David Benham, led a prayer rally — Charlotte 7:14 — outside of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2012, which he told conservative radio host Janet Mefferd was needed to stop “homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation” and “demonic ideologies tak[ing] our universities and our public school systems”

He told Mefferd that his brother Jason joined him in organizing the DNC prayer protest.

We don’t realize that, okay, if 87 percent of Americans are Christians and yet we have abortion on demand; we have no-fault divorce; we have pornography and perversion; we have a homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation; we have adultery; we have all of the things; we even have allowed demonic ideologies to take our universities and our public school systems while the church sits silent and just builds big churches. We are so complacent, we are so apathetic and we are very hypocritical in the church, that’s why the Bible says judgment begins in the house of God. So when we prayed at 714 we asked God and our city to forgive us for allowing these things in the house of God.

David also discussed his work to pass North Carolina’s Amendment One, which enshrined a ban on same-sex marriage and civil unions in the state constitution.

In North Carolina, you know, we just fought for Amendment One, which was a constitutional amendment that simply said, this is exactly what the amendment said is the only legal marriage in North Carolina was between a man and a woman. We received—it was such a battle in North Carolina, it blew me away. I already knew in my heart as most all of us Christians in America know that we are in a very desperate spiritual situation and moral situation in our country, but it really hit home during Amendment One, so much so that when Amendment One passed I realized the only three counties in North Carolina that actually voted against the amendment were Charlotte, Raleigh and Asheville, our three cities. So we had all the rural areas and all the suburban areas but we lost all the cities. So I felt like, okay, it’s time that we have a citywide church service of repentance and that’s the reason that we decided to do it right in the heart of Charlotte the night before the DNC.

David also leads protests outside of abortion clinics where he praises demonstrators for taking a stand at “the gates of hell” and confronting the “altars of Moloch.”

He also protested at a 2009 LGBT event [PDF] in Charlotte. He serves on the board of the Coalition of Conscience [PDF], a group led by far-right anti-gay activist Michael Brown.

The ADL also profiled his anti-Muslim activism:

David Benham, Flip Benham's son and an OSA spokesman, called the Islamic center a "den of iniquity," and referred to Muslims as "the enemy attacking" America. Benham, portraying the United States as a Christian nation, also drew this distinction: "The difference between Islam and Christianity: Islam takes life and enslaves it. Christianity lays its life down and sets you free." The day prior to the demonstration, OSA released a statement asserting that seeks to convert Muslims who are "enslaved in the tyrannical bondage of Islam" to Christianity.

In a 2012 blog post on Operation Save America’s website, David likened the fight against marriage equality to opposing Nazi Germany:

I read an excellent article this morning by a former NFL player, Ken Hutcherson, on the political correctness of many evangelical organizations in America today. I share his same sentiment when it comes to Christian organizations appeasing evil instead of resisting it. In a desperate attempt to appear attractive and not “offensive”, an overwhelming number of Christian organizations in America have adopted a politically correct policy of appeasement in the face of evil instead of standing at the mid-point of biblical tension on the social issues of our day.

The same year, he wrote in the Christian Post that marriage equality “erodes the moral fabric of our society” and “threaten[s] future generations,” adding that “if we are going to continue as a nation we must preserve and protect the most sacred institutions of society, specifically marriage & family.”

He also cited the Levitical death penalty for homosexuality to warn that marriage equality will destroy society, adding that gay men will never find true love:

It’s a shame that we have slid so far south of traditional values in this country that the very bedrock of society, the family unit, cannot even be defined as it truly is.

The Christian principles that Adams referred to are both universal and societal. Societal moral principles, such as marriage & family, are as eternal and immutable as universal principles, such as the patterns of the sun. The only difference between the two is that we have a choice to believe and uphold societal principles, yet we have no choice but to believe universal ones. Marriage between one man and one woman is as fixed as the sun rising in the East and setting in the West, but some don’t believe that anymore.

Trying to redefine a moral principle is like trying to redefine the pattern of the sun…it’s absurd. The biblical/historical definition of marriage is unchanging. The only thing that is changing, however, is our reliance upon God’s standards. At one time, our founders, like John Adams, confessed total reliance upon these standards. Yet today, our leaders can’t run fast enough from them. This exodus is producing a corrupt society, and, unless you have your head buried in the sand, the evidence is pretty clear.

For the men on the other side of this vote, I’ll say a couple of things: You’ll never find the love of a father in the arms of another man. The emotional hurt that you’ve experienced can only be healed through a life-giving relationship with the very one that created you. You are a precious gift of God. I encourage fellow North Carolinians to love and embrace you as a person. Redefining an eternal principle will not heal the hurt you’ve experienced, only correctly relating to the one that created the principle will.

In the Leviticus passage above it says that death is the consequence for homosexual sin. This is how detestable this type of sin is to God. However, Jesus came and took the consequences of this sin upon Himself on the cross. Homosexual sin is covered by the blood of Jesus the same way stealing is. The only difference today is that homosexual sin carries with it an agenda, other sins do not. Homosexuality demands acceptance, and the blood of Jesus cannot forgive sins that are no longer sins. The blood of Jesus cleanses sin.

Today, if we redefined how many inches were in a foot we would weaken every structure built-in America moving forward. In 20 years the only buildings or houses left standing would be those built prior to 2012. In the same way, if we redefine marriage it would weaken the very moral structure of society. In 20 years the only marriages left standing would be those that held to God’s original standard.

HGTV Picks Anti-Gay, Anti-Choice Extremist For New Reality TV Show

UPDATE: HGTV has "decided not to move forward" with the show.

UPDATE II: Additional remarks of Benham attacking homosexuality as "destructive" and "demonic" have also surfaced.

Bryan Fischer's Never-Ending Quest To Rationalize Criminalizing Homosexuality

Last month, the legislature in Hawaii advanced a bill that would prohibit undercover police officers from having sex with prostitutes when conducting sting operations and, for Bryan Fischer, this just goes to show why homosexuality should also be illegal.

Fischer cited the bill on his radio program today as evidence that certain types of sexual conduct between consenting adults can be and should be against the law because "it is right to discriminate against sexually immoral behavior" such as prostitution.

As Fischer sees it, "homosexuality is sexual immoral behavior" as well "and so it's entirely appropriate for us to discriminate against homosexual behavior" in the same manner that society discriminates against those who engage in prostitution:

Rick Santorum Says His Bogus Lawrence V. Texas Predictions Came True

Rick Santorum last week told a conservative talk show host that his predictions about the ramifications of Lawrence v. Texas, the 2003 Supreme Court case that knocked down laws banning gay sex, have come true.

After host Lars Larson told the former presidential candidate that “the last several years have proved that you were absolutely right” on “homosexual issues,” Santorum said that “if you go back and look at the interviews I did when the Lawrence v. Texas case was decided and I said here are the consequences of what’s going to happen here, I said it in the next ten years and it was the next eight years or nine years.”

Santorum said following the Lawrence decision that “if the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual (gay) sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything.”

Despite Santorum’s self-congratulatory remarks, bigamy, polygamy, and incest have not been legalized in the US, or in any of the states that have marriage equality laws for that matter.

He also told Larson that conservatives are losing their “religious liberty” and “the ability to disagree.”

Gordon Klingenschmitt Says Supporting ENDA Is 'Blasphemy' And 'Full Perversion'

Gordon Klingenschmitt, the right-wing pastor and exorcist turned Colorado GOP politician, has denounced a Republican congressman from his state who recently endorsed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).

In an email on Sunday to members of his Pray In Jesus Name Project, Klingenschmitt accused Rep. Mike Coffman of embracing “full perversion” and committing “blasphemy” after the congressman said ENDA is a “workplace equivalent of the Golden Rule — do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.”

Klingenschmitt added that ENDA will “expose” women and girls “to naked men” and demanded that House members “filibuster this bad ENDA bill,” even though the filibuster does not exist in the House.

He quotes Jesus. Did you catch that? Coffman quotes Jesus' golden rule, love your neighbor, as a reason to punish and persecute Christian employers and force them to share women's bathrooms with cross-dressing men. He thinks Jesus would command us to do that. Are you kidding me? That's blasphemy.

Obama has now gone to full perversion as a matter of policy. When violating the privacy rights of all women and little girls, exposing them to naked men with mental disorders who pretend and deceive themselves, he now requires we believe their deception with them.

For-profit business owners have NO religious exemptions, which will force Christians to choose: either quit your business or hire gays who may directly oppose the mission of your corporation. Owners of Bible publishers, Christian bookstores, Chick-Fil-A and Hobby Lobby will no longer be permitted to operate a business that honors God and fulfills their owner's mission to promote godliness in the marketplace.

Let's petition all 435 Congressmen to OPPOSE and FILIBUSTER this bad ENDA bill.

BarbWire Warns LGBTQ Abbreviation Will Soon Include A 'Z' For 'Zoophilia'

John Biver, the political editor of Matt Barber’s BarbWire website , warns in a column today that marriage equality will lead to legal protections for bestiality and the letter Z (for “zoophilia”) being “added to the LGBTQIA (etc.) abbreviation.”

Biver bases his argument on law review article by a Cornell student which he admits he only read four pages of and has “no idea what his argument is.” The article in question is in fact devoted to strengthening laws against bestiality by arguing that the reasoning behind current laws doesn't withstand scrutiny and offering “a potentially new rationale for justifying bestiality prohibitions.”

But according to Biver, the article is proof that there will be “a future well-funded marriage ‘equality’ effort for zoophiliacs.”

One reader brought a 2012 article to our attention written by Antonio M. Haynes, a Cornell University law student: “’ Dog on Man’: Are Bestiality Laws Justifiable?” Just to be clear, I only read the first four pages so I have no idea what his argument is. It wasn’t easy getting that far — and those four pages are mostly filled with footnotes at the bottom of each page (which I skipped completely). Download it if you dare and see how much of it you can stomach.

To our basic and important questions:

  • How will society respond when zoophiliacs start clamoring for their “rights”?
  • How will society respond to After the Ball -type efforts to normalize zoophilia and demonize those who disapprove of it?
  • How will society respond to a future well-funded marriage “equality” effort for zoophiliacs.
  • If someone were to donate to an organization that prohibits hiring of zoophiliacs, will this donor be fired?
  • Will the expression of disapproval of zoophilia be deemed bullying or hate speech?
  • How will schools respond to requests to start pro-zoophilia clubs to support students who experience unwanted zoophilia feelings and who seek to come out of the zoophiliac closet? Will the Day of Silence expand to include zoophiliacs?
  • Will therapies to help minors change their unwanted zoophilia desires be banned?
  • Will “zoophiliac orientation” be added to enumerated anti-discrimination policies and laws?
  • Will the letter Z be added to the LGBTQIA (etc.) abbreviation?
  • Will we see prime time television programs and movies with lovable zoophilia-oriented characters?
  • Will wannabe zoophiliac journalists form professional journalism associations (such as this one) to monitor and exploit the Fourth Estate in the service of breaking down barriers and normalizing zoophilia?
  • Will zoophiliacs join “pride parades”?
  • Will loud and proud zoophiliacs “out” those who prefer to remain in the zoophiliac closet?

Up next we’ll take a look at another example of the ways people experience “intense sexual arousal to atypical objects, situations, or individuals.” If America is to be truly free, shouldn’t all sexcentric-identified individuals be treated equally under the law?

Linda Harvey Claims LGBT Rights Groups 'Empower' Child Predators

On her radio show today, Mission America’s Linda Harvey absurdly stated that LGBT rights groups like the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network and the Human Rights Campaign refuse to condemn child abuse.

Discussing the case of a Boy Scouts of America scoutmaster in Virginia who was sentenced last month to 30 years in prison for 36 counts of child sex abuse, Harvey said that groups like GLSEN and HRC are “empowering such adults” by “promoting gay identities to kids.”

LGBT rights groups, she alleged, “set some kids up to this kind of abuse” and “make it easier for those who prey on teens and preteens to convince the vulnerable child, ‘Hey maybe you were born to do this.’”

“No matter what homosexuals claim, their movement is quite friendly to pedophilia,” Harvey continued. “Where’s the condemnation from the Human Rights Campaign or GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network?” she asked.

She then linked the scoutmaster case to days honoring the life and legacy of Harvey Milk: “On May 22nd, California schools will observe Harvey Milk Day and this is an example of the corruption the left is able to get away with.”

Florida Man Requests To Marry 'Porn Filled Apple Computer' In Super-Clever Marriage Equality Protest

Many anti-gay activists are strangely obsessed with the idea that marriage equality might someday lead to legalized human-object marriage, whether that object is a car, a turtle, or the Eiffel Tower.

A Florida man has taken this obsession to a new level, filing a motion to intervene in the case challenging the state’s marriage equality ban, purporting to seek the right to marry his “porn filled Apple computer.”

The Broward/Palm Beach New Times provides this quote from the motion of Chris Sevier, which it notes is “Short on sound legal grounding (and even shorter on wit)”:

Recently, I purchased an Apple computer. The computer was sold to me without filters to block out pornography. I was not provided with any warning by Apple that pornography was highly addictive and could alter my reward cycle by the manufacturer. Over time, I began preferring sex with my computer over sex with real women. Naturally, I 'fell in love' with my computer and preferred having sex with it over all other persons or things, as a result of classic conditioning upon orgasm.

Unsurprisingly, Sevier’s motion was rejected last week by the clearly unamused Judge Robert L. Hinkle:

Chris Sevier has moved to intervene, apparently asserting he wishes to marry his computer. Perhaps the motion is satirical. Or perhaps it is only removed from reality. Either way, the motion has no place in this lawsuit. Mr. Sevier has alleged nothing that would support intervention.

The New Times notes that Sevier has tried this sort of thing before:

A Chris Sevier sued Apple because it sold him a computer without telling him about the evils of porn. A Chris Sevier sued A&E after it fired Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson after he was caught spewing antigay talk. And just recently, a Chris Sevier tried to butt his way into Utah's gay marriage legal case . In a 50-page motion, he claimed he was there to make the court "put up or shut up" on the gay marriage issue.

In his motion in the Utah case, Sevier laid out his totally air-tight argument, warning that marriage equality and the “slippery slope” he warns will ensue will result in Americans “becoming salves of our glands, not slaves of virtue”:

Either (1) we will be reduced to a Nation that hypocritically enforces the equal protection and due process clause to suit the interest of the largest minority, which yields discrimination against the true minority classes of sexual orientation, causing hypocrisy to undermine foundation laws, yielding instability; (2) we will remain a Christian Nation that protects traditional marriage, as a relationship set apart because it has the potential of bearing life between two people, who are in a legally binding relationship, who have naturally corresponding sexual organs with the exclusive potential to produce children with DNA that matches theirs; which, of course, makes that relationship both scientifically and factually distinct from all others-religious aside; or (3) we will progress into a Nation that gives equal protection to all classes of sexual orientation allowing everyone to marrying anyone and anything to suit their appetite in the name of tolerance, equality, and love -becoming slaves of ourglands, not slaves of virtue. There is no other possible alternative.

Former Bush Administration Official Explains How Gays Are Worse Than Murderers

Former Bush administration official Robert R. Reilly is out with a new book called “Making Gay Okay: How Rationalizing Homosexual Behavior Is Changing Everything,” which has won endorsements from John Eastman of the National Organization for Marriage and ex-gay therapist Joseph Nicolosi.

Reilly appeared on “The Janet Mefferd Show” yesterday to explain that gay people are worse than murderers, who at least feel remorse for their crimes.

After the person murders someone or looks at pornography, they come to see that what they did was actually wrong, they can’t excuse it and moral order is restored and they’re contrite for having done so. But what if you organize your life around something that is wrong? Then you must construct a more permanent rationalization that prevents your conscience from returning to tell you that you’ve just done something profoundly wrong.

This is exactly the case with active homosexuals, now extended to homosexual marriage, where they have to say that wrong is right and not only is it right but it’s normative, morally normative, so we need to teach it, we need to bless it in marriages, we need to ordain it in churches and we need to enforce it in our laws. And that is what is happening.

He went on to allege that marriage equality — or as he called it earlier in the interview, “sodomitical marriage” — is “an act of injustice” because it robs people of “the goods” from opposite-sex relationships.

When you take the goods proper to a marriage, which exactly can only exist between a man and a woman because those sexual powers are unitive and procreative, therefore only the relationship between a man and a woman can be spousal. Now when you take the goods and the obligations proper to that state of marriage and transfer them to two men or two women, that is an act of injustice.

You are giving the goods to something — you are not behaving toward that thing according to what it is, which is not a marriage because it can’t be unitive and it can’t be procreative. So you’re lying, you’re creating an unreality and assigning to something a good which it doesn’t deserve. It’s a fraud.

Reilly explained that homosexuality is intrinsically wrong and a misuse of “sexual powers.”

“The sexual act in homosexual in males is sodomy, and how could an unchaste act be a source of fidelity?” Reilly said. “That’s a contradiction in terms.”

“That’s as absurd as saying the eye isn’t for seeing. Who are you to say the eye is for seeing or the ear is for hearing? It’s not we who say that, it’s the eye that lets us know when we examine it. And we can’t just forget just because we get below the waist that all of the sudden, ‘Well, who knows what these organs are for?’ It’s some sort of epistemological amnesia: ‘Who could imagine what our sexual powers are for?’”

But he ended the interview on a high note, declaring that Americans will begin to fight back against this “highly disordered, immoral act.”

Reilly: What is the nature of this act of sodomy? We can only judge the nature of that act when we examine the nature and purpose of our sexual powers. Just through our reason we can know that this is a highly disordered, immoral act and a profound misuse of our sexual powers, which is why it has been condemned in Western civilization for 4,000 years, and not just in Western civilization.

Mefferd: So what do you think is ahead for our country? Do you have any expectation at all that the United States will one day wake up and say, ‘Wait a second, we’ve been had, we need to really fight this.’

Reilly: Yes, I think that will happen, it’s just a matter of how much damage will be done before it happens. This will fail because it is against nature. Its principal enemy is reality.

Back in April, the day after the Supreme Court heard arguments on the constitutionality of state gay-marriage bans, End Times rabbi Jonathan Cahn spoke to members of Congress gathered at an event in the Capitol and told them that a ruling in favor of marriage equality would cause God to pass judgment on America . Speaking at a conference in Pennsylvania this weekend, Cahn repeated the warning he had given to members of Congress, saying that following the Supreme Court’s ruling, we are “watching a civilization approaching judgment” as we witness “the apostasy, the...
