Paranoia-Rama: Parent-Child Marriages Coming Soon, The Devil's United Nations & Michael Sam Is Aiding The Antichrist

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

This week, we learn that NFL prospect Michael Sam helped usher in the reign of the Antichrist by coming out of the closet, although apparently the Devil already controls the United Nations.

5. Satan Behind United Nations

The United Nations released a report this month that is heavily critical of the Roman Catholic Church’s handling of sex abuse cases. Church spokesmen were outraged by the scope of the study. “The range of the report appeared to infuriate the Vatican,” the Washington Post reported. “In blunt language, the committee took particular aim at church stances on sexual orientation, reproductive health and gender equality.”

Austin Ruse of the Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute (C-FAM) blamed Satan for the investigation. “Only the Devil could tell children they have a right to sex and abortion,” Ruse said in a message to C-FAM members.

“This committee has basically said that children have a right under this treaty to have sex, to use condoms and to get abortions. And that Church opposition to this is a violation of human rights,” Ruse said. “This Committee actually told the Church that its teaching on homosexuality has caused violence against the same-sex attracted.”

“What these radicals need a good shaking.”

4. Immigrants Will Turn Us Into Slaves

Phyllis Schlafly has been making the rounds on right-wing media to push her claim that Latino immigrants don’t share American values because they are less likely to vote Republican and back a right-wing political agenda. InfoWars host Alex Jones strongly agreed with Schlafly, and warned that immigrants will team up with George Soros to “support literally making those of us that produce their slaves.”

“This takes us back to a democracy where two wolves can vote to eat the sheep for dinner,” Jones said.

3. Michael Sam Helping The Gay Antichrist

Southern Baptist preacher Dwight McKissic is joining other anti-gay activists in criticizing Michael Sam, the University of Missouri defensive end who recently came out of the closet.

McKissic is especially concerned that the likely NFL draft pick will “become the face of the ‘gay rights’ movement that takes us down the road to Sodom and Gomorrah at a record setting pace.” America’s transformation into Sodom, McKissic warns, will bring about the coming of the Antichrist, who he thinks will probably be gay.

2. Google, Gawker Are Persecuting WorldNetDaily

WorldNetDaily insists that Google is unjustly threatening it for violating the company’s ad policy regarding the use of “derogatory racial or ethnic slurs to refer to an individual or group.” Adam Weinstein at Gawker noted that the right-wing website has published 670 stories on “black mob” violence, while WND editor Joseph Farah offered a less-than-convincing defense of WND’s handling of race issues.

Now Farah is striking back, arguing that Gawker has pretty much ruined the Internet with its “venomous, personal, ad hominem, groundless attack” against him.

“It’s mean-spirited. It’s irresponsible. It’s childish and immature,” Farah writes in an editorial today. “You can see it for yourself, but I would caution you the coarse, vulgar language and name-calling is pretty rough. Don’t blame me. I’m just the target. Visitor beware.” Thanks to Gawker, this “early Internet entrepreneur and pioneer” is “starting to hate the Internet.”

Farah added: “I wonder if people like this Gawker guy would allow his children to read his posts – if he has children or knows any. I guess it would be even more disturbing if he would or does. What are their standards? Do they have any? Is it supposed to be funny?”

1. Gay Marriage Leads To Parent-Child Marriage

Mitch McConnell’s GOP primary challenger Matt Bevin is doing the best he can to link the incumbent senator to a recent federal court ruling that struck down part of Kentucky’s ban on same-sex marriage. The Tea Party-backed candidate told a Religious Right talk show host this week that if same-sex marriage becomes legal, soon parents will be able to marry their children.

Bevin’s campaign spokesman defended his remarks and accused Right Wing Watch of “gross misrepresentation” of the candidate’s comments…which we merely quoted verbatim.

Barber: 'There Is Nothing Conservative About Sodomy'

Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber is not pleased with a recent compromise between the American Conservative Union and GOProud over the gay conservative group’s participation at CPAC. Speaking with Janet Mefferd yesterday, Barber said that he “led the charge on the boycott of CPAC” back when GOProud was allowed to partake in the conference.

“Conservatism does not embrace, endorse and affirm homosexual behavior, homosexual sin,” Barber said. “There is nothing conservative about sodomy.”

Barber also criticized conservative blogger Ed Morrissey for his support of GOProud, warning that Morrissey is “watering down the Republican and conservative platform.”

Barber also railed against GOP mega-donor Paul Singer, who is urging Republicans to support gay rights (even while he continues to fund anti-gay candidates).

“Singer is either just kind of a dunderhead or he is a Democrat operative saboteur trying to bring down once and for all the Republican party,” Barber said.

Jeff Allen: 'Gay-Stapo' Planning 'Kristallnacht' & 'Final Solution' Against Christians

In a column for right-wing activist Matt Barber’s new website, Indiana pastor Jeff Allen writes that gay rights advocates are the new Nazis and will begin to literally kill Christians. Allen writes that he was disgusted by internet comments on one of Barber’s anti-gay articles, warning that many gay people “really do console themselves with fantasies of their own Kristallnacht, in which Christians are euphemistically ‘taken out of the way’ as part of the ‘gay’-stapo’s ‘final solution’ to the ‘Christian problem.’”

“In Hollywood’s recent theatrical release of The Monuments Men, the storyline follows an Army unit that was guided by a group of seven museum directors, curators, and art historians as they engaged in a gripping search to recover priceless pieces of art before they were destroyed by the Nazis,” Allen continues. “Likewise, the hostile homosexual goose-steppers are seeking to destroy marriage, the masterpiece of God’s handiwork.”

He warns that gay rights activists have an “enemies’ list” and are bent on “marginalizing or eliminating their opposition.”

“As a pastor, I am not going to sit around and wait until they come after me and my church in what amounts to an updated version of Rev. Niemöller’s list,” he adds. “ It will be too late by then.”

In my first column on this event, I focused on the political wrangling and the protestors on both sides of the same-sex “marriage” debate, but today I want to look from a decidedly different angle at this event. As I braved the sub-zero temperatures on my way from the parking lot to the Pro-Marriage Rally at the Indiana statehouse in Indianapolis, I walked at noticeably brisk pace. It was only about a block and half journey, but the weather was so cold that day that I soon began looking for a place of refuge along the way. In that short distance, I was unfortunately not able find such a location, but I couldn’t help but notice what was playing at the Indiana Repertory Theater on Washington Street. On the marquee, the words “And Then They Came For Me” immediately jumped out and captured my attention. The stark irony of those words was not lost on me. Another chill went down my spine, and this time it wasn’t because of the frigid tempuratures [sic].

This play, one of James Still’s most popular, is a multi-media production of video and live performances that are carefully woven together to tell the harrowing, true life events of Eva Schloss and Ed Silverberg, a step-sister and friend of Ann Frank, respectively. Schloss and Silverberg were two Jews that were tragically entangled in the evil advance of Hitler’s Nazi Germany. The dramatic production recounts their survival of the nightmarish events surrounding the Holocaust and vividly depicts their years spent in hiding and the horrors of the concentration camp.

My fortuitous encounter with this production also brought to mind the famous, yet ominous, poem “First They Came…,” which is attributed to German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984). The confrontational text denounces the cowardice of German citizens following the Nazi rise to power and their subsequent purging of chosen targets, one by one.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out where things are rapidly heading in our country. Before the accusations of paranoia or overly melodramatic exaggerations are cast my way, let me remind you to never underestimate the subversive schemes of a true radical Leftist with an amoral axe to grind. With their notorious enemies’ lists, they have a very unscrupulous way of marginalizing or eliminating their opposition. Never forget Todd Starnes recent report about the U.S. Army’s utilization of the SPLC’s hate group list to identify evangelical Christians as potential terror threats…or the IRS’ recent and insidious targeting of conservative groups…or President Obama’s brazen propensity to flout or write new laws…or the Democrat’s ridiculous contortions to rationalize or even to encourage the President’s indefensible conduct.

When Matt Barber recently published an article on our own BarbWire entitled Liberal Love: Matt Barber Will be ‘Tried’ & ‘Hanged’ for ‘Crimes Against Humanity’, the virulent and extremely hateful comments would have been a lot more laughable and easily dismissed as the ravings of a liberal lunatic mind if they weren’t so sinisterly representative of the Nazi-like homosexual activist’s deepest, darkest desires. Many of them really do console themselves with fantasies of their own Kristallnacht, in which Christians are euphemistically “taken out of the way” as part of the “gay”-stapo’s “final solution” to the “Christian problem.” The torturing or hanging of Matt Barber and other Christians like him is shockingly not off the table for the most rabid among them. If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the Heritage Foundation’s The Price of Prop 8, which documents numerous examples of harassment, intimidation, vandalism, theft, blacklisting, loss of employment, economic hardships, venomous protests, violence, death threats, and gross expressions of anti-religious bigotry that were all triggered by the pernicious homosexual bullies and their sympathetic goons.

In Hollywood’s recent theatrical release of The Monuments Men, the storyline follows an Army unit that was guided by a group of seven museum directors, curators, and art historians as they engaged in a gripping search to recover priceless pieces of art before they were destroyed by the Nazis. Likewise, the hostile homosexual goose-steppers are seeking to destroy marriage, the masterpiece of God’s handiwork. As dedicated Christians, we too must metaphorically endeavor to recover and restore this infinitely valuable work of art before it’s been marred beyond recognition by the “gay”-stapo.

This is why I continue to fight the good fight for true marriage! Surrender will never be an option. As a pastor, I am not going to sit around and wait until they come after me and my church in what amounts to an updated version of Rev. Niemöller’s list. It will be too late by then.

Always remember that we are on the “right side of eternity!”

Bevin: Same-Sex Marriage Will Lead To Parent-Child Marriage

After a federal judge struck down part of Kentucky’s ban on same-sex marriage, Sen. Mitch McConnell’s Tea Party-aligned primary challenger Matt Bevin jumped on the ruling and criticized McConnell over his ties to the judge:

I'm deeply disappointed in Judge Heyburn's decision to overturn Kentucky's right to determine the definition of marriage within its own borders. This type of judicial activism hurts America's democratic process.

It is no surprise that Judge Heyburn was Mitch McConnell's general counsel and McConnell recommended him for the federal bench. Kentucky deserves better.

Yesterday on The Janet Mefferd Show, Bevin continued to rail against “judicial activism” and told the anti-gay talk show host that he would be a strong opponent of marriage equality in the Senate.

“Where do you draw the line?” Bevin asked. “If it’s all right to have same-sex marriages, why not define a marriage — because at the end of the day a lot of this ends up being taxes and who can visit who in the hospital and there’s other repressions and things that come with it — so a person may want to define themselves as being married to one of their children so that they can then in fact pass on certain things to that child financially and otherwise. Where do you draw the line?”

“And if in fact a person can arbitrarily draw it here, why not could someone else draw it arbitrarily somewhere else? There needs to be rule of law. Marriage has for millennia been defined as that between a man and a woman universally.”

Camenker: Gay Rights Advocates Will Kill Kids, Turn America Into Nazi Germany, North Korea And Pol Pot's Cambodia

Brian Camenker of the anti-gay group MassResistance joined Voice of Christian Youth America’s Vic Eliason this week for a program on Crosstalk called “Stopping the LGBT War on Children.”

Eliason told one caller that he should oppose gay rights because he wouldn’t sit back if he “saw somebody molesting children.” “The molestation of children through organizations such as what Brian has been talking about here are literally declaring war on children,” he said.

Speaking about legislation in Virginia and Massachusetts that, if passed, would curb “ex-gay” therapy for minors, Camenker called the bills “destructive” and “a death sentence for kids.”

“We’re talking about these explicit homosexual books and philosophies being paraded, then on top of that you have the media that somehow feels that in order to be politically correct you got to have homosexual guests, homosexual actors, homosexual films, all of this stuff,” Eliason lamented. “It ain’t cool unless it’s gay.”

Camenker agreed, calling support for gay rights “insane” and like something out of the Soviet Union: “The homosexual movement does a good job of instilling that fear of harassing people and threatening them terribly so you don’t have anybody speaking out — we do — but when people start speaking out this whole house of cards will start to fall.”

The MassResistance leader also warned that gay rights advocates will turn the U.S. into Nazi Germany, Mao’s China, Pol Pot’s Cambodia and North Korea, agreeing with a caller who urged straight people to fight back with their own “Heterosexual Pride Parades.”

Camenker: You think of what it must have been like in Europe in the 1930s or in the communist countries in the 1920s or in Mao’s communist China or Cambodia where just complete madness was reigning and large numbers of people were part of it. This is what it must have been like where you had complete insanity going on and people buy into it.

Eliason: I mean Massachusetts apparently has an official state GLBT commission. Is that correct?

Camenker: Yes it does.

Caller: Those of us who are heterosexual and/or ex-gay need to come out and have some ‘Heterosexual Pride Parades’ and so forth. I was listening to a talk show on the radio driving home last night and they brought up the Michael Sam situation. All four panelists were pro-homosexual, not one conservative or Christian or opposing viewpoint allowed. I had to stop listening to it. You know, North Korea used to use reeducation camps, China too during the Cultural Revolution. We have that, I’m a nurse and I know what it’s called, it’s called diversity and tolerance training. It’s cultural Marxism pure and simple.

Camenker: I think you’re right, I think you’re absolutely right on all of those points. Believe me, I’ve seen it myself. You are one hundred percent correct.

Robertson: Gays Can Change Like Murderers And Thieves

The 700 Club ran a story today about Charles Manson’s grandson, whose “ties to the Manson family name haunted him, and he swore to break the cycle of drugs and violence.” The younger Manson turned to drugs and ended up in prison, but now “talks to kids about how to avoid the mistakes he made.”

Host Pat Robertson said that the story is a good example of how God can change people if they repent of their sins, whether it be murder, stealing…or being gay: “God knows your sin. Some of you have been involved in homosexuality, some of you have had an abortion, some of you have actually committed murder, you have lied, you have been disobedient to your parents, you have stolen money from your business, and God says if your repent and come to me I’ll wash the slate clean, you can get rid of it all.”

AFA Attacks Two Mississippi Towns For Passing Gay-Inclusive Diversity Resolutions

In the last month, two Mississippi towns have passed resolutions recognizing  "the inherent worth of all its city's residents" that specifically included members of the LGBT community and that is not sitting well with Bryan Fischer and the American Family Association, which used its OneNewsNow news website to voice its displeasure and call for the city council members who voted for these resolution to be removed from office:

Bryan Fischer with the Mississippi-based American Family Association says it's obvious the council members didn't check with the people they represent – or with the Centers for Disease Control about "how risky and dangerous homosexual behavior is."

"It's very clear that homosexual conduct is as risky to human health as intravenous drug use," Fischer tells OneNewsNow. "I don't think there's any way in the world that the Hattiesburg City Council is going to draft an ordinance that promotes intravenous drug use. Why? Because it's risky to human health. They should have taken the same position on homosexual behavior."

...

Fischer, AFA's director of issues analysis, laments the fact that similar decisions by city leaders are becoming more common in college towns – adding that it reflects those leaders' negligent attitudes toward unhealthy lifestyles. "... These city councils, I believe, are being grossly irresponsible in the signal that they're sending to vulnerable young men and women in their communities," he states.

The AFA spokesman also argues that the vote does not represent the beliefs of the majority of residents in Hattiesburg. He reminds those residents that members of the city council serve "at the pleasure of the citizens who can do something about it" – and he adds: "They should."

AFA's Love Letter To Phil Robertson

On Valentine’s Day, I found a stack of boxed “Duck Dynasty” valentines on the 50 percent clearance shelf at Food Lion. America seems to have moved on from December’s flap over offensive remarks by Phil Robertson – along with many of the show’s former viewers – but the American Family Association hopes that fond memories of the family patriarch’s anti-gay sentiments will encourage AFA’s contributors to dig deep.

A new fundraising letter from AFA’s Tim Wildmon is built around a postcard to Robertson that Wildmon asks people to sign and return to the AFA, along with a check. The postcard reads:

Dear Phil,

By simply expressing the truth of God’s moral law you have encouraged other Christians to speak out in opposition to those who would convince our society that homosexuality is morally equivalent to heterosexuality.

Following your example, I intend to be bolder and more active in defense of God’s truth.

I am praying for you and your family. May God bless you.

Wildmon’s letter, which recounts Robertson’s brief suspension by the A&E network, portrays the support for Robertson from Christian conservatives as an opportunity to “uproot the entrenched evil that’s killing the soul of our nation.”

Will Christians and other like-minded Americans seize the moment? Will we capture the energy Phil Robertson has generated and draw on that energy to confront the entrenched fortresses of error and sexual anarchy that now dominate our social landscape?

The homosexual lobby’s outrageous demand – and A&E’s capitulation – has awakened social conservatives from their slumber and brought them to the point where they’ve had it with being insulted, demeaned and deprived of their basic rights to freedom of religion and speech.

That being the case, we’ve got to harness the outrage of Christians and direct it at helping uproot the entrenched evil that’s killing the soul of our nation.

If we fail to do this, then all this righteous anger will dissipate and our cultural wasteland will remain just that: a cultural wasteland. On the other hand, using the support that you and other AFA ministry partners provide, we will act quickly and decisively to turn this attack on Phil Robertson into a victory for our nation and for those who are to come after us.

It’s worth noting that while sometimes, when AFA radio host and spokesman Bryan Fischer says something even more offensive than usual, he and the organization claim (unconvincingly) that he doesn’t speak for the AFA, Wildmon happily quotes Fischer’s defense of Robertson and his criticism of “Big Gay.”

McKissic: Michael Sam Paving The Way For Gay Antichrist

Southern Baptist megachurch pastor Dwight McKissic seems convinced that the Antichrist will be a gay man. And today he tells us that, thanks to Michael Sam, this gay Antichrist is on his way.

Writing in the Black Christian News Network, McKissic warns that Sam will “become the face of the ‘gay rights’ movement that takes us down the road to Sodom and Gomorrah at a record setting pace,” triggering the coming of the Antichrist who “would be a homosexual, or certainly unmarried.”

Fifty years ago, James Brown released a song that became a great source of inspiration, pride, and self-esteem for Black Americans—“Say it Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud.” I remember it so well. All the kids in my neighborhood sang it with great joy. It became a rallying cry. Bursting out of obscurity into the National Spotlight recently hails Michael Sam saying it loud, “I am gay and I’m proud.”

Will Michael Sam become the face of the “gay rights” movement that takes us down the road to Sodom and Gomorrah at a record setting pace? Mr. Sam has received words of affirmation from President and Mrs. Obama, Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner, and a host of others, simply for announcing to the world that he prefers to engage in sexual activity with another male, rather than a female.

John and Paul indicate that the spirit of the Anti-Christ would be unleashed upon the world in the last days (I John 2:18; I Timothy 4:1). Daniel 11:37 tells two interesting, and relevant to this subject matter, characteristics regarding the Anti-Christ:

1. “He shall regard neither the God of his fathers.” In order to embrace same-sex relationships and homosexuality, one has to disregard the God of our fathers. Know that anybody who preaches that homosexuality is acceptable to God is not preaching the God of the Bible. They are disrespecting the God of the Bible and representing the anti-Christ. The notion that gay rights and civil rights are compatible is from the pit of hell. Rev. Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., said, deep down in her sanctified soul, she knows that her dad did not die for same-sex marriage rights. Martin Luther King did not sacrifice his life for two football players to get married. The thought of such is a desecration to his legacy.

2. Daniel also reveals that the Anti-Christ would not desire women. A male who does not desire a woman is considered suspect where I came from. I believe that Daniel was telling us that the Anti-Christ would have no desire for women, which may be a subtle way of suggesting that the Anti-Christ would be a homosexual, or certainly unmarried.

According to DL Foster, “The Daniel reference to the sexual nature of the anti-Christ as envisioned by Daniel is telling considering the world’s end time affirmation of homosexual perversion. The word ‘desire’ is drawn from the Hebrew chamad, which points to lust and desire associated with male/female sexuality. Thus, we can make a broad assumption that the anti-Christ will have no sexual desire for women.”

As the saints learn how to live in Sodom, we must take solace in the fact that the Bible accurately predicts that the spirit of Sodom would be prevalent and prominent in the end time. Jesus, John, Paul, and Daniel predicted what we are now seeing.

Robertson: 'When You See What [Gay People] Do, It's Not Very Pretty'

Today on the 700 Club, in response to a viewer who asked him why he considers homosexuality to be a sin, Pat Robertson said that while it is not a sin to be attracted to members of the same sex, it is sinful to express those attractions.

“I don’t want to get graphic, that guy on Duck Dynasty got graphic and it got a little disgusting, but when you see what they do, it’s not very pretty,” Robertson said.

He later suggested that sex is only allowed for procreation: “Nobody can ever produce a child through homosexual sex or lesbian sex, you cannot do it, this is for procreation and God has said that those who violate it, the land will vomit them out.”

Cruz: Marriage Equality Is 'Heartbreaking'And A Threat To 'Constitutional Liberties'

Sen. Ted Cruz spoke with anti-gay talk show host Janet Mefferd yesterday in his continued effort to drum up support for his State Marriage Defense Act, which would undermine the rights of legally married same-sex couples. The Texas Republican told Mefferd that gay rights advocates hope to “subvert our democratic system” since they can’t “win an argument with the American people.”

“They just want to use brute power to force the states to take down marriage laws that have been in place for centuries and that’s inconsistent with the Constitution, it’s not right and it’s heartbreaking,” Cruz added.

Cruz also said that there is a huge “awakening” among Americans in opposition to marriage equality, despite polls showing that a majority of Americans favor of legal recognition of same-sex marriage.

“We are getting a tremendous outpouring from citizens across the country who are interested in standing up and defending marriage,” he said, warning that “our liberties” are “facing a real threat right now.”

“The courts and the Obama administration are both pressing this assault and they have had real success undermining marriage,” Cruz continued. “We are seeing millions of Americans who are recognizing that our constitutional liberties are being eroded.”

Cruz added that gay rights advocates go up against “the facts” and urged listeners to pray against marriage equality: “I think the most important thing your listeners can do is simply pray because we need a great deal of prayer because marriage is really being undermined by a concerted effort and it’s causing significant harm.”

'Pro-Gay, Pro-Immigration Reform' Mega-Donor Steers Money To Anti-Gay, Anti-Immigrant Republicans

Billionaire hedge fund manager Paul Singer, emulating the Koch brothers, is creating another right-wing fundraising outlet to back Republican politicians. Politico reports today that Singer’s fundraising network, the American Opportunity Alliance, will “bring together some of the richest pro-business GOP donors in the country, several of whom share Singer’s support for gay rights, immigration reform and the state of Israel.”

While noting that Singer, whose son is gay, is trying to aid Republican politicians who support immigration reform and LGBT equality, Politico points out that many of the candidates he supports “have not necessarily signed on to Singer’s broad agenda,” and that Singer “has been supportive of the Club for Growth, the hard-right organization of economic conservatives, giving the group more than $850,000 over the years, including a $100,000 check last cycle.”

In the 2012 election, many of Club for Growth’s top recipients were among the GOP’s most vocal opponents of gay rights and immigration legislation.

Club for Growth spent over $5.5 million on behalf of Ted Cruz in his upset victory in the Texas GOP primary, catapulting the nihilistic, Tea Party crusader into the U.S. Senate. Several House Republicans blamed Cruz for sinking immigration reform legislation, and he is now championing anti-gay legislation and spouting off harsh denunciations of gay rights.

The group is also a major supporter of Rep. Steve King (R-IA), the point man for the anti-immigrant movement, best known for his comments about how undocumented young people are drug traffickers with “calves the size of cantaloupes” and his comparison of immigration to terrorism and the Holocaust.

King also has a horrendous record on gay rights: He claimed same-sex marriage would take children away from their parents and force them to be “raised in warehouses”; likened gay people to unicorns and leprechauns; warned gay marriage would lead to socialism and called on gay people to stay in the closet.

The Club for Growth also is also a major cheerleader for Georgia congressman and Senate candidate Paul Broun, who believes that immigration reform is part of a ploy to doom America and “destroy our Constitution.” Broun also introduced a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and said “he opposes health insurance covering sex-change or hair-transplant procedures because he personally likes ‘being a boy.’”

One former Republican congressman told the conservative Washington Times that the Club’s “priority is to invariably go with any conservative, anti-gay, pro-life Republican they can find” and “endorse how the Christian coalition groups do.” The group also steered money to a leading anti-gay group.

Singer is also tied to the Koch brothers’ fundraising network, which has donated handsomely to anti-gay candidates and groups such as Concerned Women for America, which even defends the Ugandan anti-gay law.

It is hard to reconcile Singer’s personal support for gay rights and immigration reform with his sizeable financial support for candidates who oppose equal rights for gays and lesbians and reform efforts.

Singer’s strong backing of not only organizations like the Club for Growth but also the House GOP leadership — which refuses to even allow House members to vote on immigration reform measures or gay rights bills such as the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) — shows that Singer seems perfectly comfortable with propping up politicians who are working against the causes of LGBT equality and immigrant rights as long as they advance his “hardcore conservative” economic agenda.

Right-Wing 'Religious Freedom' Narrative Taken To Its Logical Extreme With Anti-Gay, Anti-Evolution Push

During the controversy over Hobby Lobby’s refusal to provide its employees with contraception insurance coverage and the outrage over Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson’s being denied his supposed constitutional right to appear on television, we witnessed conservative activists stretch the limits of the meaning of religious freedom.

As Justice Scalia put it in Employment Division v. Smith, such an exaggerated view of religious freedom serves “to make the professed doctrines of religious belief superior to the law of the land, and in effect to permit every citizen to become a law unto himself.”

The Religious Right has increasingly brought this religious freedom argument into debates over gay rights and the teaching of evolution.

In Missouri, Republican lawmakers contend that public school students should get an exemption from any class on evolution — the bedrock of modern biology — if they think learning about science amounts to an “infringement on people’s beliefs”:

Rep. Rick Brattin, a Harrisonville Republican, said forcing students to study the natural selection theories developed by Charles Darwin a century and a half ago can violate their religious faith.

“It’s an absolute infringement on people’s beliefs,” Brattin said.

“Even though what’s being taught is just as much faith and, you know, just as much pulled out of the air as, say, any religion,” he said.

“The bill is one of several anti-evolution proposals that have already appeared in statehouses across the country,” TPM notes. “The proposals would allow for a range of approaches to evolution, from presenting a ‘debate’ over evolution versus creationism to requiring that local school boards allow intelligent design to be included in biology courses.”

And GOP lawmakers in at least three states are now citing religious freedom to claim that anti-gay discrimination that violates civil rights laws should not face any legal consequences.

Of course, many proponents of Jim Crow cited religious reasons to support segregation.

Now there is a push in states including Tennessee, Idaho and Kansas to allow for legally protected discrimination. Mark Joseph Stern writes of the Kansas bill:

When passed, the new law will allow any individual, group, or private business to refuse to serve gay couples if “it would be contrary to their sincerely held religious beliefs.” Private employers can continue to fire gay employees on account of their sexuality. Stores may deny gay couples goods and services because they are gay. Hotels can eject gay couples or deny them entry in the first place. Businesses that provide public accommodations—movie theaters, restaurants—can turn away gay couples at the door. And if a gay couple sues for discrimination, they won’t just lose; they’ll be forced to pay their opponent’s attorney’s fees. As I’ve noted before, anti-gay businesses might as well put out signs alerting gay people that their business isn’t welcome.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. In addition to barring all anti-discrimination lawsuits against private employers, the new law permits government employees to deny service to gays in the name of “religious liberty.” This is nothing new, but the sweep of Kansas’ statute is breathtaking. Any government employee is given explicit permission to discriminate against gay couples—not just county clerks and DMV employees, but literally anyone who works for the state of Kansas. If a gay couple calls the police, an officer may refuse to help them if interacting with a gay couple violates his religious principles. State hospitals can turn away gay couples at the door and deny them treatment with impunity. Gay couples can be banned from public parks, public pools, anything that operates under the aegis of the Kansas state government.

It gets worse. The law’s advocates claim that it applies only to gay couples—but there’s no clear limiting principle in the text of the bill that would keep it from applying to gay individuals as well. A catch-all clause allows businesses and bureaucrats to discriminate against gay people so long as this discrimination is somehow “related to, orrelated to the celebration of, any marriage, domestic partnership, civil union or similar arrangement.” (Emphases mine.) This subtle loophole is really just a blank check to discriminate: As long as an individual believes that his service is somehow linked to a gay union of any form, he can legally refuse his services. And since anyone who denies gays service is completely shielded from any charges, no one will ever have to prove that their particular form of discrimination fell within the four corners of the law.

Uganda President Reportedly To Sign Anti-Homosexuality Bill

A spokesman for Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has announced that the president will sign the country’s draconian “Anti-Homosexuality Bill.”

The legislation was crafted and passed with the help and support of US-based Religious Right activists who have increasingly focused on exporting their anti-gay views abroad.

American groups including the Family Research CouncilAmerican Family Association, Liberty Counsel have applauded Uganda’s anti-gay bill.

J. Lester Feder reports:

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has decided to sign a law imposing up to a lifetime jail sentence for homosexuality, announced government spokesman Ofwono Opondo via Twitter on Friday. NRM caucus spokeswoman Evelyn Anite confirmed Opondo’s announcement to BuzzFeed.

Museveni made his announcement during a retreat with members of his party, the National Resistance Movement, which has primarily focused on the party’s leadership as it prepares for elections in 2016. Museveni had been facing stiff pressure from his colleagues to accept the bill.

The deciding factor may have been that a panel of party members with medical backgrounds Museveni convened to study the cause of homosexuality presented a report concluding homosexuality is not an in-born trait. Museveni had told lawmakers he would sign the bill if “I have got confirmation from scientists that this condition is not genetic.”

The committee chairman told BuzzFeed on Thursday, “Speaking as a medical doctor … homosexuality is just deviant behavior. It can be learned, and it can be unlearned.”

Kengor: People Aren't Mourning Shirley Temple's Death Because They're 'Too Obsessed With Miley Cyrus And Gay Marriage'

Paul Kengor is hoping to create a new faux-scandal surrounding Shirley Temple Black’s passing.

Writing in the perpetual-outrage-machine WorldNetDaily, Kengor asserts that Americans now ignore or actively dislike the child star-turned-ambassador because she didn’t “pole dance or ‘twerk,’” and now they refuse to mourn her appropriately.

“Our culture is too obsessed with Miley Cyrus and gay marriage to give proper recognition to [Temple Black],” Kengor writes, leaving us to wonder who exactly is criticizing the late actress.

I learned only yesterday that Shirley Temple, the iconic child actress, died earlier this week at age 85. Reports on her death were easy to miss. I went through my usual scan of various websites and saw nothing. I fortunately caught a buried “Shirley Temple, R.I.P.” by a writer at a political website.

I was dismayed by the sparse reaction to the loss of this woman who lived a great American life. Had Shirley Temple died 50 years ago, or even 30 years ago, the country would have stopped. People everywhere would have paused to give Temple her due. It would have been the lead in every newspaper.

But not today. Our culture is too obsessed with Miley Cyrus and gay marriage to give proper recognition to a woman who was one of the most acclaimed, respected, and even cherished Americans, a household name to children and adults alike.

In the 1934 classic, “Bright Eyes,” Shirley played a five-year-old who lost her father in an airplane crash and then lost her mother. She is comforted by loving people who would do anything for her, including her godfather, who is identified as just that. The godfather behaves like a true godfather. The movie includes constant, natural references to faith, never shying from words like God, Heaven, and even Jesus—verboten in Hollywood today.

Today’s sneering secular audiences would reflexively dismiss the film as Norman Rockwell-ish. To the contrary, the movie is hardly sugar-coated. Just when your heart is broken from the death of sweet Shirley’s dad, her mom is killed by a car while carrying a cake for Shirley on Christmas day.

That doesn’t remind me of any Norman Rockwell portrait I’ve seen.

What such cynics really mean is that the film isn’t sufficiently depraved for modern tastes. Shirley doesn’t pole dance or “twerk.” She doesn’t do a darling little strip tease for the boys while singing “Good Ship, Lollipop.” The references to God are not in vain or in the form of enlightening blasphemy. And the movie has a happy, not miserable, ending.

Come to think of it, maybe this isn’t a movie for modern audiences!

For 80 years, Shirley Temple’s bright eyes brightened the big screen. They reflected what was good and decent in this country. She embodied what made America great, and she brightened our lives in the process.

Perkins: Same-Sex Marriage 'Will Create A Level Of Inequality That Has Never Been Seen In Our Country'

The anti-gay Family Research Council is unsurprisingly dismayed by a federal court ruling that will require Kentucky to recognize same-sex marriages performed in states where such unions are legal.

FRC president Tony Perkins said in a press release today the decision represents a “deep betrayal of the judicial system infected with activist judges who are legislating from the bench” and threatens the freedom of speech.

Perkins even said that marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples “will create a level of inequality that has never been seen in our country as people are forced to suppress or violate the basic teachings of their faith.”

That’s right, Perkins seems to think that legalizing same-sex marriage will produce more “inequality” than slavery, Jim Crow, the subjugation of women and any other injustice in American history.

This ruling is another example of the deep betrayal of a judicial system infected with activist judges who are legislating from the bench. If these judges want to change duly enacted laws passed by the people and their representatives, they should resign their life-time appointments to the bench and run for the state legislature or Congress. Judge Heyburn is elevating his own ideology over that of three-quarters of Kentucky voters who voted to preserve marriage in their constitution as it has always been defined.

This ruling comes at a time when the consequences of marriage redefinition are mounting. Increasingly, Americans are being forced to finance and celebrate unions that not only step on free speech and religious liberty but also deny children a mom and a dad. Rather than live-and-let-live, this court by redefining marriage will create a level of inequality that has never been seen in our country as people are forced to suppress or violate the basic teachings of their faith.

LaBarbera: Michael Sam Must 'Repent' And 'Walk Away' From 'Deluded' Homosexuality

Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality is predictably disturbed by all-American defensive end Michael Sam’s decision to come out of the closet.

LaBarbera told Voice of Christian Youth America host Vic Eliason yesterday that Sam needs to “become an ex-gay, an ex-homosexual.”

Worrying that “you could not script a better person for the homosexual side than Michael Sam,” LaBarbera demanded that the “deluded” Sam “repent and walk away from that lifestyle with the help of believers.”

We all need to pray for this man, Michael Sam. I watched the interview, he seems like a neat guy, you could not script a better person for the homosexual side than Michael Sam. He’s just a very well-spoken, he said he just wants to help the team, but he’s deluded because God does not give homosexuality as part of who you are. He used that phrase, ‘who you are,’ in the ESPN interview and I think that’s the saddest thing of all to think that sexual sin is part of who you are. We need to pray that the Lord will touch him, he will be sought out by Christians in the NFL or wherever he is playing and that he will accept Jesus Christ and become an ex-gay, an ex-homosexual.

Michael Sam’s worst enemies are the media and everybody who is praising him. He needs Christians to come in, lovingly tell him that homosexuality is not acceptable before God, he needs to repent and walk away from that lifestyle with the help of believers. That’s what I’m going to be praying for Michael Sam. The NFL and all these pro-homosexual people are not his friends.

Eliason kicked off the show with a message to Right Wing Watch, warning that Americans are “being impressed with the need to compromise our moral and spiritual values on the altar of perversion.” He was especially angry with the “unnatural” gay couples featured in a recent family-themed Chevrolet ad. “I drive a Chevrolet and I’m offended,” he said.

LaBarbera responded that Chevrolet is helping a movement to “bring about the moral and spiritual decline of the nation, and ultimately bring down America.”

The AFTAH leader also repeated his praise for Russia’s recent anti-gay crackdown and denounced the Obama administration officials for criticizing the country’s “homosexual propaganda” ban. Eliason added that the U.S. has become a “gray mushroom cloud that is obscuring the moral vision of people around the world.”

LaBarbera said that gay people cannot have a real family but can only “acquire a child” for their “rip-off of the family,” and later attacked -- once again -- the inclusion of a same-sex couple on Disney’s “Good Luck Charlie.”

Two homosexuals cannot have a child. They can acquire a child, but two men cannot produce a baby. That should say something to people about how natural homosexuality is, it cannot produce children; only normalcy, heterosexuality can do that. Yet we see more and more now the media and the ad industry and corporations promoting the homosexual version, the rip-off of the family.

On the show Good Luck Charlie, which is on the Disney Channel, this is just more of the same propaganda, Hollywood knows how to work it. Of course, it was two pretty women who show up at the door, it was a playdate, the mom doesn’t even tell the father that it was a lesbian couple coming over so you don’t even have to tell dad that the couple’s a lesbian. They come over and of course the father is the dumb one as always on these show; mom’s smart, dad’s dumb. No big deal, the kid comes running over and the message is: no big deal. The husband makes the observation that the child has ‘two mommies’ and the mom makes a snide remark like ‘boy, nothing gets by you Bob.’ In other words, no big deal. Then it went on in the show, very interestingly, very manipulative, the mom doesn’t even like the conversation with one of the lesbians. It’s not like it made them out to be the best people in the world, it just made it to be no big deal, and that’s what everything in the media and the Hollywood are doing: homosexuality, no big deal.

Anti-Gay Backlash To Michael Sam Begins With Fears Of 'Raging Hormones,' End Of The 'Bromance'

The backlash to the announcement by University of Missouri defensive end and likely NFL draft pick Michael Sam that he is gay is troubling the usual suspects. Anti-gay author Michael Brown is out with a column criticizing Sam’s “selfish act” and suggesting that he should’ve stayed in the closet.

According to Brown, Sam’s “hormones might be raging for men the way the other players’ hormones rage for women,” which will make “the ‘bromance’ type of close relationships that many players enjoy” impossible since they won’t be “as physical and free with a homosexual teammate.”

But once they have made their announcement, how can everyone be expected to feel completely comfortable? And with the “bromance” type of close relationships that many players enjoy, would they be as physical and free with a homosexual teammate?

And since NFL players are hardly known for their sexual purity—with many notable exceptions—is it homophobic to think that Sam’s hormones might be raging for men the way the other players’ hormones rage for women?

Looked at from another angle, it was more of a selfish act, and not only in the sense that Sam is suddenly a national celebrity. (As of Feb. 10, a Google search for his name yielded more than 3 million hits. Just one week ago, his numbers would have been a fraction of this.) What I mean is that professional football is all about the team, and the focus must be on making a joint sacrifice in order to win rather than drawing attention to oneself.

Why can’t he just play the game, keep his private life private (as many public figures do), and when his career is over, if he wants to tell the whole world he’s gay, he can do so then?

Right on cue, Rush Limbaugh declared that Sam’s announcement is proof that heterosexuals are “under assault,” a claim he made during a rant against the gay “political agenda” that couples as a great example of heterosexual privilege.

The Media Research Center is upset that major broadcast networks “celebrated the announcement” and chided sports commentators for their alleged mistreatment of Tim Tebow in an article that seems to imply that Tebow is the first and only evangelical Christian ever to play for the NFL.

ESPN on Monday was a long parade of congratulatory guests, like columnist Kay Fagan, who used words like “authenticity” and “inclusion.” Fagan ended a rapturous column by saying of Sam, “His truth is now.” (Does homosexuality come with a separate truth? Or do you pay extra, like undercarriage coating?)

Ok, lets simmer down and wait for the backlash. It’ll come. It has to when personal life and philosophy and social issues intersect with the NFL. Here it comes … Er, no? But when Tim Tebow entered the draft he encountered a rain of hate from people worried for the sport, people who resented having to hear about the personal beliefs of “Saint Timmy,” as CBS’s Pete Prisco called him in April, 2010.

Pastor Ron Cantor took to Charisma to warn that Sam’s presence in the locker room “is going to make for an uncomfortable situation.”

Cantor asserts that the truly courageous people are those who are worried about having a gay teammate: “How ironic—in the past it was the homosexual who was afraid to come out. Now it’ll be the guy who doesn’t want to take a shower next to the homosexual who will be shunned and shamed—and he will be told to keep his mouth shut.”

Let me just be honest. If I had a job whereby I had to undress and shower several times a week with a roomful of very fit, attractive females—well, let’s just say I would struggle. And that clearly is the concern of heterosexual football players. It is a legitimate issue. I am not an expert, but if someone says to me that they are attracted to men and then are going to see them undressed on an almost daily basis, it is going to make for an uncomfortable situation. Right?

But don’t say it out loud—not unless you are willing to be skewered by the media elites. Oh, wait, too late. Jonathan Vilma of the New Orleans Saints already stated the obvious.

“I think that he would not be accepted as much as we think he would be accepted," Vilma said. "I don’t want people to just naturally assume, like, ‘Oh, we’re all homophobic.’ That’s really not the case. Imagine if he’s the guy next to me and, you know, I get dressed, [bare], taking a shower, the whole nine, and it just so happens he looks at me. How am I supposed to respond?”

Vilma made those completely honest and valid comments a few days ago—before Sam came out. For sure, he will be vilified and called immature. But come on, let’s be honest: No one expects adult men and women to take mass showers together on the job—for the obvious reasons. But Vilma is juvenile and uneducated for not wanting to shower next to an openly gay man?

I wonder if more NFL players will have the courage to speak up. How ironic—in the past it was the homosexual who was afraid to come out. Now it’ll be the guy who doesn’t want to take a shower next to the homosexual who will be shunned and shamed—and he will be told to keep his mouth shut.

Gay Soldiers Undermine The Military Because They Have To Take Breaks In The Middle Of Combat To Change Their Diapers

On today's "Pray In Jesus Name" program, "Dr. Chaps" Gordon Klingenschmitt read from a press release sent out by retired military chaplains who are outraged by the acceptance of homosexuality within the military:

Before civilizations crumble, the last thing to hit the fan is government-sponsored, government-forced, homosexuality, sodomy, and pedophilia. Homosexuality is a psychiatric disorder and probably the worst sin described in the Holy Bible due to the permanent damage caused to what was or is or might have been a temple of the Spirit. The consequences are said to be nothing short of eternal damnation, by choice. It's a shame that the US military, historically known to be a beacon of morality and religious tolerance and freedom, while the civilian sector has engaged in immorality, is now having its nose shoved in the dirt of filth to make the Sinners-in-Chief in the highest echelons of politics--the perverts, the pedophiles, and the psychiatrically ill--feel better about themselves.

While Klingenschmitt did not read that part of the insane rant on air, he did approvingly read a quote from Chaplain John R. Kauffman who mirrored the insane ravings of Patrick Wooden when he asserted that "homosexuality is a combat divider" because it results in gay soldiers "taking breaks on the combat field to change diapers all because their treacherous sin causes them to lose control of their bowels."

"Forgive me for the graphic image there," Klingenschmitt said after reading this passage, "but there are physical and biological consequences of that kind of conduct and he's just pointing that out":

AFA Affiliate: US Should Adopt Russian 'Gay Propaganda' Law To Curtail GLSEN

Laurie Higgins of the American Family Association-affiliated Illinois Family Institute is a big fan of Russia’s “gay propaganda” law, and she writes today that the United States should impose a similar law here in order to restrict the work of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).

She claims that GLSEN is behind the “censorship” of anti-gay views, because apparently bigotry is needed in schools for the sake of balance, and urges the US to adopt a Russia-style propaganda law in order to curb GLSEN’s “totalitarian” grip over schools.

Google’s recent “doodle” announces to the world that Google is gaga over homosexuality-affirming propaganda for minors. Google’s doodle pokes a virtual rainbow-colored flag in the eye of Russian president Vladimir Putin for signing into law a bill that protects minors from homosexuality-affirming propaganda. A financial blockbuster of a company with roots in the country founded to “promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty” pro-actively endorses the propagandizing of children while a corrupt totalitarian cockalorum opposes it. Curiouser and curiouser.

The fanciful notion that having “two mommies” is ontologically and morally indistinguishable from having a mother and a father is not a fact. Presenting that non-fact to, for example, five-year-olds in government schools is propaganda. And presenting this non-fact to children is not a loving act even if it “feels” good to “educators” who don’t think about or discuss the issue deeply.

Exposing minors to homosexuality-affirming propaganda is nowhere more troubling than in our public schools where neither children nor teachers are encouraged to study in depth all sides of issues related to homosexuality. Quite the contrary. Curricula and supplementary resources and activities are controlled by “progressive” dogma, the kind of dogma promulgated by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). (Privately, “progressive” teachers actually scoff at the suggestion that there are sides other than theirs worthy of study.)

Ask any conservative public school teachers if their colleagues or administrators ever present resources that challenge “progressive” ideas about homosexuality in professional development meetings. And ask them if they feel as free to express their moral and political beliefs in faculty meetings (or in the classroom) as their “progressive” colleagues do.

“Agents of change,” secure in their tenured positions in public schools, share a certain esprit de corps with totalitarian regimes. They all hatch plans sub rosa to control the beliefs of others. Unfortunately, those victims—I mean, students—happen to be other people’s minor children.

Until our publicly subsidized educators relinquish their white-knuckled grip on curricula with their de facto enforcement of censorship, perhaps we need an anti-propagandizing-to-minors law.

Last year, we produced a report noting that, prior to the passage of the 2009 Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, anti-gay Religious Right activists issued all sorts of dire warnings about how the law would lead to Christianity being outlawed and pastors being tossed into prison. Five years after it was signed into law, none of their predictions had come true, but that is not stopping these same activists from continuing to issue the same sorts of absurd warnings. Today, for the third day in a row, James Dobson dedicated his radio program to discussing the Supreme... MORE

On his “Freedom’s Call” radio bulletin today, Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver discussed “the damage of homosexuality,” which he said affects everybody because “studies repeatedly show that homosexual conduct can result in significant cost to the community that encourages it.” “Same-sex marriage leads to the devaluation of both a mother and a father, who each provide a unique contribution to the family,” Staver said. “Studies estimate that over the course of 26 years, our government spent more than $225 billion that could be... There are a lot of challenges facing the people of Nigeria and Kenya, including campaigns of terror being waged by Islamist militants with Boko Haram and Al-Shabaab. But that’s not the focus of the “mission trip” for which C-Fam’s Austin Ruse is urgently raising money this week. No, Ruse and the Center for Family and Human Rights (formerly known as the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute) are raising money to warn against “UN radicals and the Obama administration” and the “bloody, soul-destroying” consequences of family planning,... On “The 700 Club” today, televangelist Pat Robertson once again charged that the gay rights movement is bent on destroying freedom, telling viewers that the gay community seeks to impose “totalitarian” socialism on America. He also implicated Hillary Clinton in the supposed gay plot to destroy liberty, claiming that she “wants to do away with the First Amendment, or at least part of it.” Robertson was speaking about Indiana’s “religious freedom” law, which he falsely suggested was no different from the federal Religious Freedom... In his daily “Washington Update” email to Family Research Council members last night, the group’s president, Tony Perkins, once again castigated Hillary Clinton for including two gay couples in her presidential campaign kickoff video. Perkins, who said on his “Washington Watch” radio show yesterday that the inclusion of the gay couples in the video shows that Clinton’s “definition of family is a bit different” from his, wrote in the email that Clinton’s aim is “the complete demolition of the natural family.” “Over her...
