Recently, the Human Rights Campaign released a report entitled "Exposed: The Export of Hate," which sought to expose the "network of American extremists who work tirelessly to undercut LGBT people around the world at every turn": They spew venomous rhetoric, outrageous theories, and discredited science. Some claim that LGBT people are responsible for the Holocaust, the Rwandan genocide, and the spread of HIV/AIDS. Others argue that LGBT people are luring away children, and that acceptance of LGBT people will lead to the destruction of families around the world. Some even... MORE >

The same Religious Right activists who accuse President Obama of persecuting Christians by supporting gay rights, have over the last few years hailed Russian leader Vladimir Putin as a hero and global leader of conservative Christians. Religious Right leaders such as Franklin Graham, Phyllis Schlafly, William Murray, Pat Buchanan, Bryan Fischer, Brian Brown, Don Feder and Scott Lively, among others, have lionized Putin as a fearless Christian leader who is bravely cracking down on gay rights. The World Congress of Families even decided to hold its annual... MORE >

In the days since British Christian singer Vicky Beeching came out as a lesbian, anti-gay pastor Scott Lively has been on full alert, confronting Beeching on TV and issuing a pamphlet warning churches that “a dangerous modern heresy called 'gay theology' is infiltrating the Christian church at an alarming pace.” Lively continued his anti-Beeching crusade in an interview with WorldNetDaily this weekend, in which he warned that the singer represents “the drawing back of the tide before a tsunami” consisting of “attacks on Christians in America like we... Florida's gay marriage ban was struck down today by a federal judge. Scott Lively has qualified to appear on the ballot as independent candidate for governor in Massachusetts. On his radio show today, Bryan Fischer and Randy Sharpe rejoiced that the AFA's action alert about a student allegedly punished for saying "bless you" managed to shut down the school's phone lines and website. Tim Brown writes on BarbWire that "this entire event [in Ferguson, Missouri] is being orchestrated by the federal government." Finally, "Warning: #... MORE >

Something that might bug Religious Right leaders even more than the expansion of marriage equality in the U.S. is the increasing acceptance of homosexuality and LGBT equality among Christians. The latest salvo against Christians who challenge anti-gay interpretations of scripture comes from Scott Lively. Lively originally gained notoriety for his book "The Pink Swastika," which blamed homosexuals for the rise of Nazi Germany, but may now be more well known for his travels fanning anti-gay sentiment and encouraging the passage of anti-gay legislation in Uganda and around the globe.... Scott Lively is demanding an apology. After Uganda’s constitutional court struck down on procedural grounds the country’s notorious anti-homosexuality law, which was inspired in part by Lively’s activism, the Massachusetts-based Religious Right leader is now trying to run away from his past claims that he helped shape the law. “Now that the Ugandan government has shown itself capable of self-governance, I’m waiting for calls of apology from media outlets around the world who for years have insinuated (or outright insisted) that the Ugandans were merely my puppets... Todd Starnes says that "under this administration, the government believes they are church and President Obama is the deity." Bryan Fischer says that Ann Coulter is "the Manchurian Columnist." Laurie Higgins argues that if opposition to homosexuality is akin to racism "then cultural disapproval of polyamory, zoophilia, and scores of other paraphilias is wrong and akin to racism." The Lord says, "I am already invading Hollywood far beyond what you can imagine." Matt Barber asserts that the fact that support for ENDA is... MORE >

Like many of us, Scott Lively spent the Fourth of July weekend reflecting on the “gay agenda,” and on Sunday published a WorldNetDaily column arguing that said agenda very much exists and in fact “reflects an insane and Satanic delusion which breeds chaos." Lively argues, as he does frequently, that he didn’t mind when the gay rights movement was about “the right to be left alone,” but he doesn’t like what he sees as the post-Stonewall turn toward the “radically Marxist goal” of destroying the family and all of society....
