Last week we noted that John Stemberger of the Florida Family Policy Council was hinting that he was going to be endorsing Rick Perry for President, despite the fact that Michele Bachmann had recently headlined a fundraising event for his organization. Today, the Perry campaign issued a press release announcing that Stemberger would be serving as co-chair of his leadership team for the upcoming Florida Presidency 5 event: Texas Gov. Rick Perry today announced his leadership team for Presidency 5 (P5), with Speaker Dean Cannon serving as chairman. Gov. Perry will participate in Florida P5... MORE >

Florida school teacher Jerry Buell has been reinstated after posting anti-gay marriage remarks on his Facebook page. But that probably won't be the end of the Religious Right's crusade about it. Tony Perkins says the Religious Right would be pretty happy with any of the GOP frontrunners. I highly doubt that is true regarding Mitt Romney. Rick Perry has signed the Susan B. Anthony's anti-choice pledge. Another day, another piece dismissing dominionism devoid of any research whatsoever. The defamation claim against John Stemberger over statements he made while... MORE >

John Stemberger is a leading Religious Right activist in Florida. He was deeply involved in the Rifqa Bary saga and also serves as the President of the Florida Family Policy Council, which was the organization behind the successful 2008 Florida For Marriage effort to pass a constitutional amendment outlawing marriage equality in the state. On Saturday night, Michele Bachmann will be the keynote speaker at FFPC's 6th Annual Policy Awards Dinner: We hope you will be able to join us for our Florida Family Policy Council, 6th Annual Policy Awards Dinner on August 27, 2011 at the Rosen... Florida Gov. Rick Scott is meeting with the Council for National Policy. Donald Trump is burning bridges in Iowa. Sarah Palin says she has the "fire in the belly" needed to run for president, which I translate as means "people please pay attention to me." Is Joseph Farah really threatening to sue Esquire? It seems that God just didn't want Mike Huckabee to run for president. Finally, John Stemberger reports that the Florida Bar has dismissed the complaint that was brought against him over his representation of Rifqa Bary. MORE >

The police wanted those who helped Rifqa Bary run away charged with a crime. Robert Spencer says they deserve a reward. Can people please stop taking Donald Trump seriously? And especially stop comparing him to Ronald Reagan? Paul Ryan will be attending Ralph Reed's "Faith and Freedom Summit." Liberty University and Liberty Counsel are becoming one in the same because pretty much everyone who works at LC also holds a position at LU. Finally, when any elected representative starts pushing bills backed by Steve Hotze, it is right to be suspicious. MORE >

Hey, guess what? Tim Pawlenty is running for president. Police wanted to charge many of those involved in helping Rifqa Bary run away with crimes, but prosecutors have refused to do so. Herman Cain says the race card has expired. Good to know. Wow, Donald Trump is just a joke. Janet Porter is hosting a "Heartbeat Bill Summit" on April 4. Speaking of Porter, she has this to say about the earthquake in Japan: "Another type of darkness in Japan should be of great concern to us. That’s the spiritual darkness that covers this island... John Stemberger is the President of the Florida Family Policy Council who has recently become a cause célèbre for the Religious Right because he is facing both a $10 million defamation lawsuit and misconduct complaint stemming from his actions during the Rifqa Bary saga in 2009. A legal defense fund has been set up with the backing of the Newt Gingrich, Jerry Boykin, David Barton, Tony Perkins, and Lou Engle ... and according to this flyer [PDF], many of these leaders - along with Michele Bachmann, Mike Huckabee, and Haley Barbour - will be joining Stemberger for a "... As we have mentioned several times before, John Stemberger of the Florida Family Policy Council, was an early and central player in the Rifqa Bary saga when she turned up in Florida in 2009. His actions during that case have now resulted in misconduct complaint being filed against him by the Florida Bar as well as a $10 million defamation lawsuit from the attorney who represented Bary's parents. As such, Stemberger has set up a legal defense fund to cover his mounting legal expenses that has the support of Jerry Bokin, Newt Gingrich, Tony Perkins, Lou Engle and David Barton. And... MORE >
