Michele Bachmann

Bachmann: Obama Peddling 'Crack Cocaine Of Dependency'

In an interview published today on the conspiracy-theory-happy website WorldNetDaily, Rep. Michele Bachmann likens President Obama to a crack dealer, accusing him of trying to “get Americans addicted to the crack cocaine of dependency on more government health care.”

The Minnesota congresswoman, who has alleged that Obamacare denies healthcare to conservatives, implements death panels and “literally kills” people, even tried to link health insurance exchanges to supposed ACORN-esque voter fraud in which non-existent people will sign up for insurance to make money.

Apparently, Bachmann is afraid that Americans will like the benefits of the Affordable Care Act so much that it will be “virtually impossible” for Republicans to repeal the reform law.

Pulling no punches, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., told WND exactly why she thinks President Obama and Democrats are unwilling to negotiate with the GOP over Obamacare’s well-documented problems.

“I think the reason is because President Obama can’t wait to get Americans addicted to the crack cocaine of dependency on more government health care.”

“Because, once they enroll millions of more individual Americans, it will be virtually impossible for us to pull these benefits back from people,” the congresswoman explained.

“All they want to do is buy love from people by giving them massive government subsidies,” Bachmann summed up.

That’s why she wants lawmakers to do whatever they can to stop Obamacare, now.

“If it means delaying it, rather than repealing it. I’m for it. We have to do what we can do.”

Warning they are “making it up as they go along,” Bachmann predicted disaster if Obamacare goes ahead, because, “They’re trying to fly a plane they haven’t even built yet.”

WND asked if she heard concern from constituents over turning giving health and financial information to the government?

“Oh, yes. People are extrmely nervous, especially after all of the NSA issues earlier this year.”

“People don’t trust government, at all,” she added. “They don’t trust government’s ability not to be hacked, but they also look at a federal government that would intentionally misuse their data.”

The congresswoman told WND she had learned during a briefing that the navigators, or assisters, who will be signing up people for Obamacare “will be getting something like $59 a head for the people that they sign up. ACORN did that.”

“ACORN signed up Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse,” just making up names, “so people could make money. It was meant to be a scam.”

ACORN, the community organizing and voter-registration organization that Obama worked for in the 1990′s was disbanded after massive allegations of voter law violations and at least 54 ACORN employees and individuals associated with ACORN were convicted of voter fraud.

“We know people will get signed up in a fraudulent way. That’s why President Obama has already waived or deleted 19 different areas for Obamcare. Because they make it up as they go along.”

Bachamann insisited it is “unconstitutional for the executive to rewrite laws at will and spend money that Congress doens’t authorize. That’s competely [sic] unconstitutional.”

“Remember, we were lied to by the president. He told us abortion will not be funded. It is. We were told sterilizations, contraceptives, all that, we were told wouldn’t be part of the bill. It is. So, almost every promise the president has made has turned out to be false.” The tea party rock star declared, “Now is the time to put it out of its misery.”

“I am the author of the bill to repeal Obamcare, we’ve done that (the House has passed it) several times. We have to do what we can do. Whether that means defuding it instead of repealing it, I’m for it. If it means delaying it, rather than repealing it. I’m for it.”

“Whatever we can do to relieve the suffering of this economy and the American people.”

Bachmann: Clintons Closely Tied To Muslim Brotherhood

Louie Gohmert wasn’t the only far-right congressman to stop by The Lars Larson Show in recent days, as Michele Bachmann last week told the conservative radio host that “the Clintons have very close ties to people who have very close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.”

“We’re not talking about the Lutheran Brotherhood here, we’re talking about the Muslim Brotherhood,” Bachmann said, once again pointing to Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin as a Muslim Brotherhood agent.

Steve King Insists 9/11-Muslim Brotherhood Link Confirmed By 'Well-Placed Sources Within the Middle East'

Iowa congressman Steve King, who joined fellow Republicans Rep. Michelle Bachman and Rep. Louis Gohmert in Egypt last week, where they delivered a televised message praising the Egyptian military’s crackdown on dissenters, claims that the group’s insistence that the Muslim Brotherhood was linked to the 9/11 terrorist attacks comes from a “very reliable” source “within the Middle East.” But he won’t say who his source is because “then it would be a political incident.”

The Bush administration’s 9/11 commission found no such link, except to note a handful of instances where Al Qaeda members had peripheral contact with the sprawling group.

While Bachmann has attempted to backtrack from the comments, King has characteristically doubled down.

The Omaha World-Herald reports:

Tuesday, during a call with reporters, King defended Bachmann's statements.

King said he had received evidence tying the Muslim Brotherhood to both the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and last year's attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. He said his information comes from “very well-placed sources within the Middle East.”

Pressed for more details, King declined to specify even the country from which the information originated.

“That source is a very reliable source and it is very sensitive,” King said. “If I were to clarify the source of it, then it would be a political incident. And I'd just as soon not initiate that.”

Radio Iowa adds:

“I have received evidence that there was a foundation there among the Muslim Brotherhood in each of those cases and it’s not something that I think that they can just simply say is wrong. They would have to be the ones to prove the negative,” King said. “It takes a fair amount of self-confidence, sometimes misplaced self-confidence, to be so critical with a basis to do so.”

King was asked twice during his telephone news conference to reveal the source of his information.

“I think I’ll just stick with my answer of very well-placed sources within the Middle East,” King said, “and I think that it will be verified over time.”

Bachmann: We Need God's Help To Defeat Hillary Clinton In 2016

After a lengthy interview with Jan Markell about President Obama’s supposed push for an Islamic caliphate, Michele Bachmann spoke to the Christian Right radio host about the 2016 presidential election, immigration reform and the Last Days.

Bachmann pushed back on Markell’s fera that Hillary Clinton will be elected president: “I don’t at all because I look at the story of David and Goliath, all David needed was one smooth stone to fell the giant. It wasn’t the stone, it wasn’t David, it was the strong right arm of a Holy God.”

She said that if “we repent, if we cry out to God, we have no idea what the Lord God will do for us in 2016.”

After telling Markell that the GOP needs to discover what its “positive, big picture message solution needs to be,” she responded to a question about support for Israeli policies within Congress to chastise Republicans who supported immigration reform.

She said that just as lawmakers need to stand by Israel “if Iran decides to drop a nuclear weapon on Israel,” the GOP must stand firm on immigration: “It’s not when times are good, it’s when times are bad when you count your friends. I got to tell you, I’ve been shocked and appalled by the conservatives who have gotten on board this train of amnesty for illegal aliens; I’ve been absolutely floored.”

“For some reason they’re on a political suicide journey to make sure that this happens,” Bachmann warned. “This will hurt and forever structurally change our country into the future and I think it will hurt us from a national security perspective as well.”

Bachmann then explained how she sees the “signs of the times.”

“We are in times that are unprecedented,” Bachmann said. “These are the times of birth pangs, we’re seeing the intensity of age and the speed and rapidity that these events are starting to speed up so fast that we can hardly get our minds about it.”

Marell lamented “that many are heartbroken because we’ve watched this wonderful country of ours just tank more and more and more because of this secular humanist, hardcore, atheistic, left who is hell bent on socialism for America.”

Bachmann: Obama Aids 'Islamic Jihad' And 'Embraced The Worldview Aspirations Of The Muslim Brotherhood' To Restore the Caliphate

Last year, Rep. Michele Bachmann appeared alongside End Times broadcaster Jan Markell to warn that President Obama is trying to “lift up the Islamists” and impose “Islamic speech codes” that would “take away the free speech rights of the American people.”

The Minnesota congresswoman visited Understanding The Times again this weekend to discuss with Markell why she believes Obama shares the same “worldview” as Islamist groups.

Bachmann recently visited Egypt to endorse the brutal repression of opposition groups, even falsely linking the Muslim Brotherhood to the September 11 attacks. She told Markell that President Obama demanded that Egypt’s military government return deposed President Mohamed Morsi to power (he did not) because the president has “embraced” the Muslim Brotherhood’s “worldview.”

“Now why in the world would we want to put these Islamist fanatics back in power, that hate Jews, that want to see the destruction of that West; why would you do that unless the Obama administration embraced the worldview aspirations of the Muslim Brotherhood?” Bachmann asked.

“This is a worldview issue,” Bachmann explained. “The Islamic view of the world seeks domination… They are seeking to expand their domination across the world.”

The congresswoman claimed that his 2009 Cairo speech, which she called “one of the weirdest speeches you will ever read,” the president said that “as President of the United States it is his duty to further some of the goals and aims of the Muslim religion, one of which is to be able to pay their tithe.”

Even though then-President Hosni Mubarak praised the address, Bachmann alleged that the speech was meant to derail Mubarak and empower the Muslim Brotherhood.

Bachmann told Markell that Obama’s speech was “the green light” for Islamists to rise up.

“What’s weird about all of this is if you just objectively look at every action that Barack Obama has taken as President of the United States, the fruit of his actions have lifted up the aims and goals of the Muslim Brotherhood and Islamic jihad, and his actions have taken down Israel,” Bachmann charged. “Every intelligent leak, unprecedented intelligence leaks, all have been to the detriment to Israel, almost as if to defend a signal: don’t try to defend yourselves because the United States won’t be there for you.”

Bachmann went on to accuse Obama of inviting Muslim Brotherhood agents into the government.

She agreed with Markell’s claim that that administration officials have an “affinity” for the Muslim Brotherhood. “Obviously this has something to do with the affinity of Hillary Clinton for Islam and the affinity of Barack Obama for Islam,” Markell said.

“Yes, again, this is a worldview issue,” Bachmann replied. She said that the Muslim Brotherhood is trying to “revive the Ottoman Empire” with the administration’s approval: “They are committed to reestablishing a global caliphate. What is very weird is that the Obama administration has bent over backwards to do everything that they can to reach out with what they call an engagement strategy.”

Of course, none of this would’ve happened if we had just listened to Michele Bachmann and elected her as president.

“I hate to say I told you so,” Bachmann said, maintaining that Al Qaeda is using Libyan oil to “further global jihad” and now the “black Islamic flag flies over Libya, flies over Tunisia” – which, for the record, are not controlled by Al Qaeda.

Bachmann: Immigration Reform 'Means You Don't Have A Future And A Hope'

Last month, the annual Eagle Forum Collegians Summit took place in Washington, DC where Birther crackpots like Jerome Corsi shared the stage with members of Congress like Michele Bachmann.

Bachmann spent a large part of her speech railing against immigration reform, telling the audience filled with college students that if any legislation passes, their taxes are going to skyrocket, the economy is going to collapse, and their futures are going to be destroyed.

"If you think taxes are high now," Bachmann warned, "get ready! This impacts you.  This means you don't have a job. This means you don't have benefit packages. This means you don't have a future and a hope."

Immigration reform should not be interested in being compassionate to those wishing to come here, she asserted, but rather focused on "America first; it's your life first and we've got to get our house back in order. That's what I'm elected to do: look out for the Americans who voted for me; my job isn't to look out for law-breakers who broke our law to come into the country":

Diana West: Obamacare Will Turn US Into A 'Leading Outpost of the Caliphate'

WorldNetDaily’s Diana West is out with a new column entitled “Huma Abedin: Muslim Brotherhood Princess.”

Of course, since this is WorldNetDaily after all, she somehow managed to link this to Obamacare.

West maintains that the health care reform law means that the Communists were the real winners of the Cold War as the “totalitarian” law creates a “super-state” that will destroy the Republic.

She argues that the “cover-up” of Huma Abedin’s status as “a veritable Muslim Brotherhood princess” is part of a plan to shield Americans from the “Muslim Brotherhood penetration of the federal policy-making chain”: “[Michele] Bachmann was crucified, by Democrats and Republicans alike for asking urgently important questions about national security.”

With our guards down to the Marxist-Muslim conspiracy, Americans will become complacent to the supposed Islamic infiltration of government and the dangers of Obamacare: “don’t worry. We ‘won’ the Cold War. Obamacare, here we come. At this rate, we’ll declare ‘victory’ in the so-called war on terror and, before you know it, become a leading outpost of the caliphate.”

Nationalized health care was one of the first programs enacted by the Bolsheviks after they seized power in 1917. Nearly a century later, the U.S. enacted “Obamacare.”

Who won the Cold War again? This is one of the questions I work over in my new book, “American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character” (St. Martin’s Press). Can we realistically claim liberty and free markets triumphed over collectivism when today there is only a thin Senate line trying to fend off Obamacare’s totalitarian intrusions into citizens’ lives? We see perhaps a dozen or so patriots led by conservative ace Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, gallantly mustering forces to defund further enforcement of this government behemoth aborning. (Call your senators and ask them to join – or tell you why they didn’t at the next town hall.) How can we maintain that the republic endured when a centralized super-state has taken its place?

So, once more, who really won the Cold War? The question is better framed when we realize that the battleground where the Free World met Marx was also psychological. Consciously or not, we struggled against an insidious Marxist ideology that was always, at root, an assault on our nation’s character.

The most recent manifestation of victory over the American character shows through the Anthony Weiner-Huma Abedin scandal. This scandal is a paradoxical double whammy of both exposure and cover-up.

True, the barbs of Huma’s ambition – as naked as her husband’s dirty pics – have broken through the gauzy chatter. But cut off from context, they, too, end up perpetuating what is, in fact, the great Huma Abedin cover-up.

It is not enough to analyze Huma Abedin as a “political wife.” Abedin is also a veritable Muslim Brotherhood princess. As such, the ideological implications of her actions – plus her long and privileged access to U.S. policy-making through Hillary Clinton – must be considered, particularly in the context of national security.

If the Abedin-Muslim Brotherhood story rings any bells, it is probably because of Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn. Last summer, Bachmann, along with four other House Republicans, raised the issue of Huma Abedin among other examples of possible Muslim Brotherhood penetration of the federal policy-making chain. They asked inspectors general at five departments, including the State Department, to investigate their concerns, but nothing happened – nothing, that is, except that Bachmann was crucified, by Democrats and Republicans alike for asking urgently important questions about national security.

This made the entire subject, already taboo, positively radioactive – with Huma Abedin becoming the poster victim of this supposed “McCarthyism” redux.

End of story. Never mind facts. Never mind also that in his day, Sen. Joseph McCarthy was asking urgently important questions about national security, too.

But don’t worry. We “won” the Cold War. Obamacare, here we come. At this rate, we’ll declare “victory” in the so-called war on terror and, before you know it, become a leading outpost of the caliphate.

Bachmann: Congress Needs To 'Spank The President' And Take Away His Magic Wand

Reps. Michele Bachmann, Steve King, and Louie Gohmert continue their crusade to prevent the passage of any immigration reform legislation by mobilizing the readers of WorldNetDaily with a new article today featuring interviews with each one of them.

In making her case against immigration reform, Bachmann warned that Republicans will lose control of the House of Representatives if any legislation passes because President Obama will "wave his magic wand before 2014" and declare that all immigrants have the right to vote, just as he supposedly did in 2012 when he supposedly declared that anyone here under the age of 30 was allowed to vote which, of course, happened only in Bachmann's fevered imagination.

Claiming that she is "not crying wolf here," Bachmann went on to say that Congress need to give Obama a spanking and take that magic wand out of his hands:

'Gimme My Fence Or Give Me My Money Back': Bachmann Demands A Refund For Her Nearly Completed Border Fence

Yesterday, Rep. Michele Bachmann called into Glenn Beck's radio program for a discussion about immigration reform legislation during which she urged Beck's audience to call the Congressional switchboard and "melt the phones" with demands to their representatives to refuse to vote for any immigration bill.

Near the end of the interview, around the 10:30 mark, Bachmann grew animated as she declared that "we're not putting up with any fake border security bill. We can't trust the President to enforce the border and so we are not going to take up anything right now until you build us a fence. Build me the fence! Where's my fence that I paid for in 2006? Gimmie my fence or give me my money back":

Yeah, where is Michele's fence? Let's ask the Congressional Research Service (PDF):

Congress expressly authorized the construction and improvement of fencing and other barriers under Section 102(a) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRIRA; P.L. 104-208, Div. C), which also required (pursuant to Section 102(b)) the completion of a triple-layered fence along the original 14 mile border segment near San Diego. The Secure Fence Act of 2006 (P.L. 109-367) amended IIRIRA Section 102(b) with a requirement for double-layered fencing along five segments of the Southwest border, totaling about 850 miles. IIRIRA was amended again by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, FY2008 (P.L. 110-161). Under that amendment, the law now requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to construct reinforced fencing “along not less than 700 miles of the southwest border where fencing would be most practical and effective and provide for the installation of additional physical barriers, roads, lighting, cameras, and sensors to gain operational control of the southwest border.” The act further specifies, however, that the Secretary of Homeland Security is not required to install fencing “in a particular location along the international border of the United States if the Secretary determines that the use or placement of such resources is not the most appropriate means to achieve and maintain operational control over the international border at such location.”

As of January 15, 2013, DHS had installed 352 miles of primary pedestrian fencing, 299 miles of vehicle fencing (total of 651 miles), and 36 miles of secondary fencing (see Figure 4). The Border Patrol reportedly had identified a total of 653 miles of the border as appropriate for fencing and barriers.

The Secure Fence Act of 2006 called for the construction of 700 miles of border fence and, according to CRS, 653 miles of fencing have been erected.

So Bachmann's fence is more than 90% complete ... but now she is demanding a refund?

Will Michele Bachmann and Jim DeMint Headline Ex-Gay Pride Month?

Channeling Tobias Fünke, ex-gay activist Christopher Doyle wants everyone to know there are tens of thousands of “former homosexuals.” In an interview with the American Family Association’s OneNewsNow today, Doyle declares July to be “Ex-Gay Pride Month” and laments that the “gay activist lobby” is “discriminating [against] us” by “taking away our rights” to not be gay…or something.

OneNewsNow reports that Rep. Michele Bachmann and Rep. Tim Huelskamp, along with Heritage Foundation head and former senator Jim DeMint and Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel, plan to address a July 31 ex-gay function organized by Doyle and hosted by the Family Research Council.

According to an invitation to the event [PDF], the four are listed as invited but not confirmed speakers. Other invited speakers include anti-gay activists Star Parker and Harry Jackson.

The only confirmed speakers are Doyle; fellow ex-gay activists DL Foster, who has said Dan Savage should be arrested; and Greg Quinlan, who claims gay people practise “sexual cannibalism.”

Former homosexuals will be in Washington later this month to celebrate the first annual "Ex-Gay Pride Month."

Christopher Doyle, co-founder of Voice of the Voiceless (VoV), explains how his group will cap off the month of July.

"What we're going to be doing is former homosexuals, persons with unwanted same-sex attractions and their families and allies are going to be convening on Washington, D.C. on July 31st to send a clear message to the members of Congress that ex-gays are alive; we do exist," Doyle tells OneNewsNow. "There are tens of thousands of us, and we want to be counted."

Homosexual activists try to erase former homosexuals from the scene, contending that people cannot change if they are attracted to the same gender.

"We are tired of the gay activist lobby discriminating [against] us, marginalizing us and taking away our rights, and we're now fighting back, and we're demanding that if gays are going to get full diversity and equality in America, we also demand that ex-gay voices be heard as well," the VoV co-founder details.

He adds that his organization will lobby Congress throughout the day, then hold a dinner and reception with Equality and Justice for All at Family Research Counsel [sic] Action in the evening for attendees. Featured speakers include Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN), former Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), Liberty Counsel's Mat Staver, Congressman Tim Huelskamp (R-KS), and several prominent leaders in the ex-gay and faith communities who celebrate the fact that change is possible.

Oops: Five Conservative IRS Conspiracy Theories Fall Apart

Just as the GOP’s hyperventilation and grandstanding over Benghazi turned up empty, so are their claims that the IRS has been targeting right-wing groups. New reports show that the IRS did apply extra scrutiny to groups with phrases like “Tea Party” in their names…but the agency also applied the same scrutiny to groups with “progressive” or “occupy” in their titles. This backs up an earlier story from The Atlantic which also found that liberal groups had been targeted.

Prior to these revelations, we learned that the White House had no role in the supposed targeting and that the IRS manager accused of political bias is a conservative Republican.

But for some reason we don’t think this will stop right-wing activists from alleging that President Obama directed the IRS to go after political opponents as part of his plans to create an all-powerful, totalitarian government.

The IRS story has made its way into five right-wing conspiracy theories that we don’t expect to go away any time soon, despite being totally ungrounded in reality.

1) IRS May Deny Medical Care To Conservatives

Rep. Michele Bachmann led the way in giving credence to a claim that the IRS, through Obamacare, might attempt to “deny or delay” access to medical care for conservatives. After embracing the WorldNetDaily-inspired conspiracy theory, she told Fox News that the IRS may deny or delay health care “based upon our political beliefs.” Even Rand Paul latched onto the debunked conspiracy theory.

Right on cue, James Dobson’s son Ryan alleged that his father may be denied medical treatments under Obamacare, and Janet Porter said that the IRS may use the reform law to “target individuals on whether or not they have the ability to exist as a live human being” by denying people “lifesaving treatment” based on their “political views.”

2) Obama’s The New Hitler

Glenn Beck reacted to the IRS story by warning that the government could “shut down” and “scoop up” Tea Party members much like how Adolf Hitler persecuted Jews. “This is the way totalitarian states are created,” Beck argued. “We will be remembered as the most evil nation in the history of the world, we will dwarf what Germany did.”

World Congress of Families spokesman Don Feder agreed, maintaining that “Concentration Camp Obama” may “shove you in a cattle car” and take you “‘camping’ in a very real sense” if you are part of the conservative movement, all by “using the IRS as a presidential goon squad.” Todd Starnes of Fox News even pointed to the IRS controversy to claim that conservatives “could be facing a 1930s Germany here,” while End Times radio host Rick Wiles used the IRS as proof that Obama is leading a “modern day Nazi regime” and the “Fourth Reich.”

3) Obama Committed Impeachable Offenses

Naturally, right-wing activists brought impeachment into the debate over the IRS. Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice said Obama may face the same impeachment charges as Richard Nixon as a result of the “misuse and abuse of the IRS.” Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly said that the “IRS scandal is much worse than Watergate” and agreed that “there are many reasons why Obama should be impeached.”

Texas Gov. Rick Perry similarly drew a comparison to Nixon and said that the “scandal” may “reach the level of criminal activity” and reveal “a pattern of abuse of power.” Washington Times columnist Jeffrey Kuhner went even further and asserted that Obama is “ worse than Nixon” and added it to his long list of supposedly impeachable offenses, while Alan Keyes demanded that the GOP’s “cry should be ‘IMPEACHMENT NOW!’” Not to be outdone, Glenn Beck argued that “if there aren’t impeachment hearings” then America is “already operating under tyranny.”

4) Obama Would Have Lost If It Wasn’t For The IRS

Even though conservative outside groups greatly outspent their left-leaning counterparts in the last election, the IRS controversy has led some to allege that conservatives groups were not allowed to get off the ground and that must have been why Obama won his race for re-election.

Janet Porter reasoned that “the elections were affected” because “every Tea Party group and every conservative group…weren’t allowed to exist” or “inform their members of what’s going on and what’s at stake.” John Fund of the Wall Street Journal, a champion of suppressive voter ID laws and voter purges, told Fox News that “the real voter suppression in the 2012 election was done at the IRS” and “suppressed the vote” to the point that it “may have played a role in the outcome of that very close election.”

The American Enterprise Institute’s James Pethokoukis even made the dubious claim that 5-8.5 million voters didn’t vote last year due to IRS actions. Dean Chambers, whose “unskewed” polls predicted Obama’s defeat, claimed he was right all along, alleging that the “systematic and wide-scale suppression of Tea Party and conservative activity and votes, via the IRS targeting of those groups” had “clearly denied Mitt Romney the election that [he] clearly would have won by about the very margin I predicted on November 5 of last year.”

5) Demonic Forces Behind IRS Scandal

Larry Klayman said that “felonious liberal Jews” have used the IRS to attack conservatives to undermine “our proud Judeo-Christian roots and heritage,” but televangelist James Robison took it one step further, arguing that “Satan himself” had a role: “He and his demonic forces are fiercely focusing their fury against God’s kingdom purpose and anyone committed to it. What you are witnessing daily in news reports concerning Washington’s bad practices and policies related to the gross abuse of power by the IRS, along with unconstitutional checks on the free press, reveals satanic intent to take away freedom.” Rick Wiles also saw a demonic role in the IRS pseudo-scandal, stating that the IRS is creating the “Fourth Beat as foretold by Daniel in the Holy Bible.”

Bachmann: 'We Will Never Again Have a Republican President' if Immigration Reform Passes

Reps. Michele Bachmann, Steve King, and Louie Gohmert are reportedly planning to revolt over comprehensive immigration reform legislation and "are planning a politically risky showdown with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to try to force additional debate on an immigration bill they say will mean amnesty for illegal immigrants and have dire consequences for the country."

So, naturally, Bachmann decided to reach out to the reasonable folks over at WorldNetDaily in an effort to rally support for the effort, warning that if immigration reform passes, "we will never again have a Republican president" because the entire political power structure will forever fall under Democratic control and "you will never again be able to see our country return to its constitutional foundations":

The Best of Bachmann

While her record of championing baseless conspiracy theories and using vitriolic rhetoric has left a lasting legacy in the GOP, Rep. Michele Bachmann’s decision to retire from Congress doesn’t mean she’ll be going away any time soon. As Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, Allen West and Newt Gingrich can attest, leaving elected office only creates more opportunities to become a leader of the far-right.

We decided to look back on just a few of the soon-to-be-former congresswoman’s greatest hits, from back when she accused President Obama of harboring “anti-American” sympathies and having too much “choot-spa,” to warning that hate crime laws take away the right to free speech and vaccines cause mental retardation.

Watch:

Beck: Bachmann Is Getting Out of 'Chernobyl' With Her Honor and Integrity In Tact

On his radio program today, Glenn Beck reacted to the announcement that Rep. Michele Bachmann would not be seeking re-election by saying that while he finds is tragic, it is also understandable that she grown tired of the incessant attacks that have "destroyed her image, destroyed her honor, [and] destroyed her business."

Leaving Congress, Beck insisted, was good for Bachmann because Washington, DC is "Chernobyl" and so she is getting out with her honor and integrity in tact:

Michele Bachmann's 5 Wildest Predictions, including Slavery, Sharia and More

Now that Michele Bachmann has announced she’s not running for reelection, we’re beginning to wonder what Congress will be like without her and her many totally reasonable claims, like that Democratic presidents are linked to swine flu and the HPV vaccine causes mental retardation.

But while Bachmann may be retiring from Congress, her many predictions live on. Here are five of the wildest among them:

1. Obama will impose Sharia law

As the leader of a group of House Republicans that sought an investigation into Muslim-American staffers of the Obama administration, Bachmann repeatedly warned that administration officials and President Obama himself are determined to impose Sharia law in the US and around the world and take away the freedom of speech, religion, press and assembly.

2. Obama creating slavery, reeducation camps

At a 2010 conservative summit, Bachmann maintained that the first years of the Obama administration was part of an effort to turn “our country into a nation of slaves.” Ironically, Bachmann had signed a Religious Right group’s candidate pledge which said that African-American families were better off under slavery than “after the election of the USA’s first African-American president.” She also warned that Obama will create “re-education camps for young people” by expanding AmeriCorps, an organization of which her own son is a member, and might use the Census to put people into internment camps.

3. God will repeal Obamacare

After leading an unsuccessful prayer effort to stop Congress from passing Obamacare, she has consistently guaranteed that the law will be rescinded. If not, Bachmann has claimed that the law will “literally kill” people, institute “death panels,” deny health care to conservatives and government critics and establish school “sex clinics” with abortion services. Earlier this month she told James Dobson that “God is going to answer our prayers” and compel Obama to repeal the health care law.

4. Schools will turn kids gay

Bachmann began her political career by working in education issues, and as Religious Right activist, she naturally thought that public schools will teach kids to be gay, warning that soon “all schools will begin teaching homosexuality” and “little K-12 children will be forced to learn that homosexuality is normal, natural, and perhaps they should try it,” even suggesting that schools will use Elton John music in the Lion King to turn kids gay. “It’s part of Satan I think to say that this is “gay.” It’s anything but gay,” Bachmann said at a conference hosted by the far-right group EdWatch, “If you’re involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, it’s bondage. It is personal bondage, personal despair and personal enslavement.”

5. God backed her presidential bid

While on the campaign trail (and after), Bachmann invoked God as a supporter of her presidential bid, and she also called on God to put together her campaign operations. Of course, she finished last among major contenders in the Iowa caucus with just over 6,000 votes, and her campaign team was plagued by infighting and is currently under investigation for campaign violations.

Bachmann: 'God Is Going to Answer Our Prayers' and Repeal Obamacare

On his radio program today, James Dobson interviewed Rep. Michele Bachmann about the IRS scandal and his contention that his organization's application was delayed because he had been critical of President Obama.

Near the end of the discussion, Dobson attempted to connect the issue to the implementation of health care reform, worrying that IRS bureaucrats would have access to everyone's health records and start denying people access to care based on political positions.

Bachmann replied that concerns such as this were exactly why it is so important to repeal Obamacare, which will miraculously happen before the end of Obama's term when he is compelled to sign and "repudiate own signature piece of legislation" through an act of God:

That's why you saw the House of Representatives pass my bill, the full repeal of Obamacare last week, and that's why I have renewed confidence that we can see this bill pass in the Senate and I think the President will ultimately be forced to repudiate his own signature piece of legislation because the American people will demand it.

And I think before his second term is over, we're going to see a miracle before our eyes, I believe God is going to answer our prayers and we'll be freed from the yoke of Obamacare. I believe that's going to happen and we saw step one last week with the repeal of Obamacare in the House. We have two more steps. We serve a mighty God and I believe it can happen.

  • Gary Bauer and Frank Gaffney will headline the American Decency Association summer conference.
  • Nice try, Sarah Palin.
  • Glenn Beck featured a round-table of Religious Right pastors last night talking about abortion and America's "spiritual darkness."

Michele Bachmann is upset that President Obama said in his Wednesday night address that “ISIL is not Islamic,” criticizing him for “being the theologian-in-chief.” The Minnesota congresswoman told the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins in an interview yesterday said that Obama should just ask Steven Sotloff and ask James Foley — the two American journalists beheaded by ISIS — “if this was about Islam.” She said the group’s actions are “all about” Islam and are “exactly done in conformance with their belief, not... Federal prosecutors are seeking sixteen months in prison for Dinesh D'Souza, largely based on the fact that his supposed contrition before the court does not square with the public statements he made about the case elsewhere. Ray Comfort's upcoming anti-gay movie is going to be absolutely amazing, according to Ray Comfort. Peter LaBarbera is furious that the U.S. will not support other nation's efforts to criminalize homosexuality: "Just because America has fallen so far that we now treat sin, in this case homosexuality, as a civil right doesn't mean we have... Glenn Beck invited Rep. Michele Bachmann on to his television program last night to discuss the threat that ISIS poses to the Middle East and the rest of the world, during which she laid out her simple solution to solving the crisis: Kill ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, defeat his army of radical Islamic fighters, and "be done with it." When Beck wondered why the U.S. hasn't just sent an elite sniper team in to kill al-Baghdadi, Bachmann said that is exactly what needs to happen, declaring that ISIS only has 12,000 fighters, which will be no match for the U.S. military. In an appearance on “The Lars Larson Show” last week, Rep. Michele Bachmann repeated GOP talking points about how President Obama is somehow behind the Republican-led effort to impeach him. Bachmann told Larson that Obama is trying to “egg” Republicans to impeach him in order to “help his electoral chances in the fall,” and then will go ahead and “take any lawless action that he wants to because he really doesn’t think that the Republicans will impeach him. He figures it’s an open field day and now is the time to get everything he wants... MORE >

In a conference call with the anti-immigrant group Numbers USA last week, Rep. Michele Bachmann called illegal immigration a “war against the American people” and suggested that the U.S. levy a 100 percent tax on money that immigrants send back to Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala in order to put pressure on those countries’ governments. The Minnesota Republican spoke just before House Republican leadership handed its immigration policy over to her and Rep. Steve King . “When are we going to get serious and really deport and deport right on the border?... MORE >

The House Republican leadership seems to have handed the handling of the border crisis over to its far-right flank, planning to vote this afternoon on a bill that Rep. Steve King said was “like I ordered it off the menu.” This is how Rep. Michelle Bachmann described King’s role in the far-right takeover of the border bill: “We sat down in that room last night, HC 8 … in the Capitol, and it went as smooth as silk. Steve laid it out and in less than two hours we worked it out,” Bachmann said. “It was really a painless process. But it was the... MORE >
