National Organization for Marriage president Brian Brown is convinced that marriage equality advocates, who just helped pass laws legalizing same-sex marriage in Delaware and Rhode Island, will go down in defeat since they are opposed to “the will of the majority of Americans” and solely rely on the support of “our cultural elite.”
Speaking with Janet Mefferd yesterday, Brown argued that Sens. Rob Portman (R-OH) and Mark Kirk (R-IL), who both support marriage equality, will lose their re-election races in 2016 over the marriage issue…if they even opt to run... MORE >

As you can imagine, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality head Peter LaBarbera is none too happy with TIME’s cover story on the success of marriage equality advocates, telling the American Family Association’s news service yesterday that the magazine is “publishing indecent photos” and “promoting perversion.” After lamenting that children might see the magazine covers of same-sex couples kissing, he went on to blast his home state senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) for “pushing homosexuality in the Republican Party” by endorsing marriage equality.
But... MORE >

The news cycle has been filled with stories about the barrage of attack ads from new groups backed by wealthy donors and corporations, such as Karl Rove’s American Crossroads and Norm Coleman’s American Action Network. But many new organizations are formed on the local level and receive less attention for their misleading and business-backed ad campaigns. One of those new groups is the New Prosperity Foundation, a conservative organization that was formed in 2009 and is dedicated to electing Republicans in the Midwest.
A 527 organization, the New Prosperity Foundation received $... MORE >

Two separate reports have revealed the flood of corporate dollars buttressing the Republican Party’s push to retake the House and Senate this November. Big business, whether rewarding Republican endeavors to block progressive legislation such as Wall Street reform or simply expecting a GOP wave, has ramped up efforts to support Republican politicians and expenditure committees.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, “in both the first and second quarters of this year, the broad finance, insurance and real estate sector has favored Republican candidates and committees in... MORE >

Lou Engle declares the year 2010 to be "73-37 window" because it has been 37 years since the Supreme Court issued Roe v. Wade in 1973. Get it? The message of this year's March for Life will be "no abortion funding in health care." Tim Pawlenty will headline a fundraising event in March for the anti-choice Susan. B. Anthony List. Tea Parties are plotting how to take over the GOP. On a semi-related note, Richard Viguerie will deliver the keynote speech at the inaugural Leadership Tea Party training event to be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth... MORE >

Big donors are not happy with RNC Chair Michael Steele and are withholding donations, to which he defiantly replies "fire me or shut up." According to WND, Rep. Nathan Deal, R-Ga., is a Birther and "has written to President Obama asking him to prove his eligibility to hold the office of U.S. president." The World Congress of Families says it is standing Don Schmierer, who was one of three Americans mentioned in the recent New York Times article against the anti-gay legislation in Uganda. The Susan B. Anthony List, Focus on the Family, Family Research... MORE >

Not surprisingly, right-wing groups are running to the defense of Brit Hume. Sandy Rios demands to know if Rep. Mark Kirk is gay. Several right-wing leaders have banded together and signed on to a letter demanding the resignation of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. Former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline has been subpoenaed by attorneys defending Scott Roeder, the anti-abortion zealot accused of killing George Tiller. Finally, just what your iPhone needs: the Sam Brownback app. MORE >

I've tried to ignore the latest nonsense from Senate candidate Andy Martin and his allegations that Rep. Mark Kirk is gay because, frankly, Martin is a certified nut.
If I posted on every crazy thing Martin said, this blog would consist of nothing else ... like his claims that Max Baucus is a "habitual sex offender" or that Wikipedia "is a tax-exempt protosocialist scam that seeks to harass Republicans, conservatives and Obama opponents."
But Peter LaBabera doesn't think that Martin is a loon, which is why Martin participated in the Americans for Truth fundraising... MORE >
