AFA: Archie Is Destroying America's Youth

Tim Wildmon and Ed Vitagliano of the American Family Association are upset about the direction of Archie Comics, and spoke with Religious Right pundit Larry Tomczak on today’s edition of “Today’s Issues” about how Archie is corrupting young people with messages promoting “the occult and homosexuality.”

Tomczak described how in a recent issue Archie dies while taking a bullet for his gay friend, something Wildmon apparently found hilarious as he cracked up while Tomczek detailed the plot.

“I know I sound like an old crank but when kids grow up being fed lies, why should we surprised if they believe lies? Why should we be surprised if they say there is nothing wrong with same-sex marriage?” Vitagliano said. “These kids grew up watching their parents laugh at Will & Grace, which changed people’s opinions, and now the kids don’t have a problem with it.”

Larry Tomczak, BarbWire Celebrate Memorial Day By Questioning Obama's Faith

Larry Tomczak, pastor and pundit, celebrated Memorial Day with an open letter questioning whether the country’s Commander-in-Chief, President Barack Obama, is really a Christian.  Of course, implicit in Tomczak’s letter is his belief that only the right kind of Christian, according to his standards, is fit to be president of the U.S. The letter was distributed by BarbWire, Matt Barber’s home for commentary from the far right, which topped the letter with a photo of Obama in front of what appears to be a Koran, with a Communist hammer and sickle over one shoulder and a Muslim crescent over the other.

Tomczak, who has a habit of invoking the specter of Nazi Germany when he talks about the fight against LGBT equality, manages to avoid a Nazi reference in this letter. He does cite Obama’s support for gay rights and marriage equality as evidence that Obama is not a Christian. Of course, Obama has plenty of company. For Tomczak, the millions of Christians who support LGBT equality and reproductive choice aren’t real Christians; neither are Catholics who aren’t “born-again.” Tomczak portrays Catholic schools as suspect and not likely to have given Obama “correct instruction in the Christian faith.”

Tomczak argues that Obama’s “beliefs, policies, social leanings and character” suggest that Obama is not an “authentic, obedient Christian” and says the president’s bad example allows Catholics like Kathleen Sebelius, Nancy Pelosi, and Caroline Kennedy “to continue in their wayward paths.”

Tomczak’s arrogant letter is filled with faux humility. He starts by saying he wants to “humbly” ask Obama about his faith, signs off “respectfully,” and in between assures President Obama that he loves and prays for him. Tomczak expresses hope that [the far from orthodox] Abraham Lincoln will speak to Obama “from the grave” and tell him “to repent and begin exercising the courageous Christian leadership America needs before it’s too late.” And he ends by encouraging Obama to consult with Billy Graham in order to become an “authentic” Christian.

That would be the same Billy Graham who praised Mitt Romney’s values during the 2012 presidential campaign and took out full-page ads encouraging North Carolina voters to back a constitutional ban on marriage equality and any kind of civil union or domestic partnership. Graham’s ministry is now run by his son Franklin Graham, an anti-gay zealot who praises Russian President Vladimir Putin’s anti-gay efforts, says  “true” Christians cannot support marriage equality, and not only questions Obama’s faith but says his administration is “anti-Christ.”

Tomczak: God Punishes Gays & Lesbians By Making Them 'Effeminate' Or 'Mannish'

Pastor Larry Tomczak wrote a column in Charisma yesterday touting a video that he says “every person in every church needs to watch.” The video in question is a recording of a sermon/PowerPoint presentation on the subject of homosexuality given by none other than Larry Tomscak.

In the sermon, Tomczak claims that we are “in a civil war” surrounding gay rights, promotes the “ex-gay” movement, and repeats myths about how people “become gay,” including, “spousal and child abuse; media influence, pornography; absence of a father; childhood experience; experimentation; seduction and molestation by peers or authority figures; [and] misunderstanding ‘artistic’ bent.”

He later goes into the reasons he opposes same-sex marriage, including claiming that God is punishing gay men and lesbians by making them “effeminate” or “mannish.”

Tomczak cites Romans 1:27 to claim that gays and lesbians “receive in their own bodies the penalty for their sin.”

“Folks, I am not in any way being insensitive here,” he says, “but I have watched people go into a lifestyle, and all of a sudden they become – a man starts to become very effeminate – mannerisms, speech. I’ve seen the reverse, I’ve seen the same thing with women start becoming mannish. What’s going on? They’re taking in their bodies a penalty for deviating from God’s loving design and plan.”

God Will Punish America For The Grammy Awards & 'Good Luck Charlie'

It seems that Religious Right activists are still fuming about both the Grammy Awards and the inclusion of a same-sex couple on an episode of the Disney Channel’s “Good Luck Charlie.”

One commentator is promising divine retribution for the television events’ inclusion of gay couples, Beyoncé’s dancing and Katy Perry supposedly sacrificing herself to Satan.

The Christian Post’s Larry Tomczak, who last month claimed that Beyoncé is leading girls into sex trafficking, writes:

My longtime friend Dr. Michael Brown reminds us to be merciful and reject self-righteousness as we winsomely reach out to immoral people and those practicing homosexuality. But in loving all gays, we must resist the radical gay agenda. "It is the greatest threat to religious freedom in our generation!" he declares. Undergirding this should be a godly passion and holy hatred for what this agenda is doing to destroy biblical morality, marriage and family in our generation.

Yesterday someone contacted me, mentioning how timely it was that my last commentary on Michelle Obama and Beyoncé came before Queen Bey's opening performance at the 2014 Grammy awards. This woman, whom our first lady commends as a role model, sang "Drunk in Love" while writhing as a stripper and censors bleeped unprintables during her "sexcapade seranade."

Mind you, this presentation wasn't on late-night cable MTV with Miley Cyrus sensual shenanigans but on a mainstream CBS broadcast during family hours to tens of millions across America and abroad.

The show also featured former Christian Katy Perry flaunting her sex in a satanic witchcraft spectacle with fire, horned men and a sacrificial offering to ... ?

Then Macklemore belted out his gay anthem, "Same Love," as closet lesbian Queen Latifah officiated over a ceremony where same-sex marriages were celebrated.

This annual broadcast is said to represent the very best music has to offer to the world. It also reveals the gravity of the situation we face in our culture today.

That same day, the Disney Channel's kid show Good Luck Charlie introduced two lesbian moms for our children, and later, NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt, an open homosexual, announced his working with lesbian Ellen DeGeneres for a new lesbian-themed comedy called One Big Happy for network TV.

Let's face it: America is in deep trouble and in desperate need of spiritual awakening. Our nation, founded on Judeo-Christian principles, has flourished for three centuries but now is teetering on the precipice. Time is of the essence. We must feel what God feels regarding unfaithfulness to His dictates on sexuality and marriage while praying, proclaiming the gospel and presenting a biblical model for the world to see.

Paranoia-Rama: Girls Ruin The World, MLK's Real Legacy, And The Origin Of Autism

RWW's Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

This week, we learn that women are to blame for sexual assaults and sex trafficking, take a new look at the Civil Rights Movement, and announce some new medical discoveries.

5. TSA Electric Shock Bracelets, Brain Microchips & High-Speed Rail Leading to Government Control

Buzzfeed this week dug up the website for Founder’s Truth, a group formerly led by Greg Brannon, who is now a Republican candidate for Senate from North Carolina.

It turns out that Brannon’s group’s website was chock full of conspiracy theories, most revolving around various sorts of technology leading to government control. Blog posts on the site alleged that the Aurora movie theater massacre was an inside job orchestrated by “psyop pros” in order to tighten the government’s grasp on the population; that the TSA might force people to wear bracelets that would “deliver an electric shock if they got out of line”; that corporations are scheming to plant microchips in our brains; that light rail systems in American cities are part of a nefarious United Nations plot; that the fluoridation of water is “unethical and criminal” and something about a “secret police murder and cover-up.”

We are looking forward to Senate hearings on these issues once Brannon is elected.

4. Martin Luther King, Jr, Didn’t Actually Favor Civil Rights

In a Martin Luther King, Jr Day interview with Steve Deace, the Institute on the Constitution’s Michael Peroutka presented the novel theory that the renowned civil rights leader never actually supported civil rights . Instead, Peroutka argued, King’s modern-day followers have “perverted” his legacy to suggest that King was fighting for rights from the government. He also asserted that King – who famously supported robust federal aid to low-income people – would definitely not have supported federal aid to low-income people.

Peroutka’s shaky understanding of the Civil Rights Movement shouldn’t exactly come as a surprise – after all, he is a proud member of the neo-confederate group League of the South.

Peroutka’s MLK Day revisionism is part of a larger trend among the Right to pretend that the Civil Rights Movement’s goals have been achieved and that it is now white people who are facing discrimination. This week, the American Family Association’s Sandy Rios, claimed that, “for the most part, the American Anglo-Saxon crew really has moved past racism, they did it quite a long time ago…But it seems to be raging, racism seems to be raging in the black community.” For his part, columnist Erik Rush claimed that President Obama is actually “enslaving and oppressing” white people.

3. President Obama and Sandra Fluke To Blame For Sexual Assaults on Campus

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins smelled a rat in President Obama’s push to combat sexual assaults on college campuses. In an email to FRC’s members yesterday, Perkins contended that it was President Obama himself who had led to an epidemic of sexual assaults on campuses…by requiring insurance companies to cover contraception, admitting to smoking pot as a kid, and once mentioning a happy hour.

In a radio commentary later in the day, Perkins extended the blame to Sandra Fluke, the former Georgetown law student who faced vicious attacks from the Right for her advocacy in favor of contraception coverage.

2. Gay People Cause Autism

Susanne Atanus, a Republican candidate for U.S. House in Illinois, told the Chicago Daily Herald that autism and dementia, along with extreme weather like tornadoes, are God’s punishments for marriage equality and abortion .

“God is angry,” she said. “We are provoking him with abortions and same-sex marriage and civil unions. Same-sex activity is going to increase AIDS. If it’s in our military it will weaken our military. We need to respect God.”

Atanus previously claimed that the stock market crash of 1929 didn’t actually happen.

1. Beyoncé Leading Women Into Sex Trafficking

Christian Post columnist Larry Tomczak took issue this week with First Lady Michelle Obama’s description of Beyoncé as “a true role model for children.”

The pop star, Tomczak contends, has squandered her “gifts from almighty God in song and dance” and “chose to develop her persona as a sexy, seductive singer.” Tomczak warns that Beyonce’s example could “lead naive young girls on a dangerous path that could lead some even into sex trafficking”…and from there, to “abuse, abortions and abasement-sometimes death.”

Christian Post: Beyoncé Leading Women Into Sex Trafficking, Death

Christian Post contributed Larry Tomczak is upset that First Lady Michelle Obama is a fan of Beyoncé, who has increasingly come under fire from Religious Right activists.

Tomczak writes in an op-ed that the first lady should distance herself from the singer because, he suggests, Beyoncé’s music will “lead naive young girls on a dangerous path that could lead some even into sex trafficking” and ultimately “abuse, abortions and abasement-sometimes death.”

This past weekend, the first lady turned 50. Prior to a star-studded White House party, ABC News offered "50 Ways to Honor Michelle Obama on Her Birthday." First on the list: "Dance to Beyoncé!"

Michelle Obama and pop music's No. 1 female megastar are BFF (best friends forever). Michelle extols her as a "true role model for children" and thanks her publicly for "being a role model who kids everywhere can look up to."

Having two daughters as Mrs. Obama does, I humbly submit that this singer's persona and music are harmful-not helpful-for emerging young ladies across America.

Before we discover what divine revelation highlights as important in a woman, let's step back and honestly yet charitably consider the one referred to as "Queen Bey." Is she the role model Mrs. Obama acclaims? Should we follow the first lady's example and take our preteen and young teen daughters to one of her concerts, as Mrs. Obama has done? Should girls be encouraged to emulate her? Scripture tells us to train ourselves to "distinguish good from evil" (Heb. 5:14).

Here's the deal: The multitalented Beyoncé has been given gifts from almighty God in song and dance, for which she will one day give an account. Instead of graduating from high school or getting a GED, she chose to develop her persona as a sexy, seductive singer, attired in barely there [sic] clothes doing over-the-top, sensual dance moves. She goes on tour in a see-through bodysuit with a cutout bra and gyrates like someone in a strip club. Her signature song is "Bootylicious," and she goes full throttle in "Bow Down," which instructs those who criticize her to "Bow down, [profanity].

Now let's ask ourselves (not in any self-righteous manner but simply a prudent, mature approach): Is Beyoncé a role model? What message is she communicating to girls about relating to the opposite sex? Is she causing men to lust? Is the focus on virtue and inner beauty or seductively swiveling hips, championing a sensuality that can lead naive young girls on a dangerous path that could lead some even into sex trafficking?

Sex trafficking is a very serious problem in the United States. Remember, the average age of a young girl drawn in is 13, and scores are lured by pimps promising a glamorous life if girls will simply follow the seductive example of many celebrities whom they try to imitate. What follows leads to abuse, abortions and abasement-sometimes death. This is a national scandal in our generation. Proverbs 11:22 says, "Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion."

Charisma Magazine Asks Chris Christie: What If Child Predators Preyed On Your Son?

Anti-gay activists are furious that Gov. Chris Christie signed into law a bill barring ex-gay therapy for minors, and pastor Larry Tomczak penned an open letter to the New Jersey governor in his Charisma magazine blog. Tomczak, upset about Christie’s “unconscionable” decision to “capitulate to the gay agenda,” said the governor should reflect on his own “battle with overeating and endangering your health through poor nutritional choices” and realize that he shouldn’t affirm the gay “lifestyle” and its “frightening consequences.”

He goes on to ask Christie what he would think if older men preyed on his teenage son, who, as a result, “found himself temporarily confused and traumatized.” Tomczak said that after such experiences as a boy his “parents and pastors and counselors” had “early on set me on the path to normal heterosexual sexual understanding.”

Tomczak said that after such experiences as a boy his “parents and pastors and counselors” had “early on set me on the path to normal heterosexual sexual understanding.”

“I close this appeal by directing you to our Founding Fathers,” Tomczak writes. “They honored a Judeo-Christian belief system and upheld the Bible as their source of wisdom for life, laws and legislation.”

Young people today face challenges in the realm of sexuality that are unparalleled in our history. When you and I were growing up with our Roman Catholic training, we never faced the avalanche of pornography and celebration of homosexuality prevailing in the media, schools, government and entertainment there is today.

Multitudes of young children and teenagers are wrestling with sexual identity as they come of age. To capitulate to the gay agenda and stonewall providing options for those who are asking for them really is unconscionable. And since you pride yourself on being very up front and to the point, I'd like to submit to you that your three points are completely inconsistent with what should be your Roman Catholic and Christian worldview.

While parents, counselors and all of us should express understanding regarding people's upbringing and pain, we cannot release people from taking personal responsibility for their actions to do what is moral and right. Your well-publicized battle with overeating and endangering your health through poor nutritional choices probably makes this easy to comprehend.

Here's the deal: Are we really helping young people by reinforcing the prevailing notion that people are born gay—stuck to be this way for the rest of their life? And yes, there are pretty frightening consequences to this lifestyle that folks had just better accept

Gov. Christie, among your four children is a young teenage boy. Since you are known for your bluntness, can I share in a transparent manner some things that happened to me when I was his age and then ask a closing question?

As a young teen, two male teenage relatives tried to seduce me into sexual experimentation with gay sex. Additionally, I had a homosexual pick me up once while hitchhiking, and he offered me money to come to his apartment for an enema. (I was 13 and clueless as to what that was.) In a relatively short time, I jumped out of that car!

To this very day, I am grateful to God for parents and pastors and counselors who early on set me on the path to normal heterosexual sexual understanding. I knew right from wrong. I was able to discern, when faced with something that the Bible said was "unnatural" and "shameful" (Rom 1:24-27), what was the right thing to do.

Gov. Christie, I beseech you to step back and take a fresh look at this law. Think about your children. Think about the future of our nation. Think about how we can best prepare young people for a healthy and successful life. If your son when through what I did, found himself temporarily confused and traumatized, what kind of counsel—honestly—would you want him to hear?

Many believe you have aspirations for the presidency. I close this appeal by directing you to our Founding Fathers. They honored a Judeo-Christian belief system and upheld the Bible as their source of wisdom for life, laws and legislation.

Will you?

Respectfully submitted and upholding you and your family in my prayers, I remain,

Larry Tomczak

Charisma: Fight Against Gay Rights Resembles Fight Against Nazism

Pastor Larry Tomczak sure does like comparing gay rights advocates to Nazis. The Charisma columnist this week claimed that, like Nazi Germany, gay equality threatens the church and “would imperil us all—our children, our grandchildren and our future as a nation.” He praises “courageous” African countries that “outlaw homosexuality” for “standing strong amidst this moral storm” of President Obama, WNBA player Brittney Griner and “unscriptural, squishy, spineless” Christians.

Naturally, Tomczak ends the column by quoting Winston Churchill’s speech on the imminent Nazi attack on Britain.

The landmark Supreme Court ruling on gay “rights” did not redefine marriage, but it did give the rationale to deconstruct marriage.

Those of us standing up for traditional marriage now find ourselves portrayed as bigots for simply upholding marriage as it has stood for over 5,000 years of Western civilization! It’s unbelievable, but true.

All Christians are called to be salt and light, but if leaders choose calm over courage instead of addressing these issues for any number of reasons—“Just keep things positive,” “Don’t scare people off,” “We’re in a building program and can’t risk offending big donor,” Just preach the gospel; steer clear of politics,” “It’s all going down anyway,” “Why invite trouble or controversy?” “I’m warning all of you on staff that this would be a deal-breaker if you start talking about these kind of issues”—marriage as the central pillar of our civilization will be forever lost. We just cannot sit on the bench, mute in the midst of the defining moral issue of our generation, as the people will follow suit.

That’s what happened in Nazi Germany as pastors (with the exception of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and a remnant) were intimidated into silence and their flocks emulated their example. Adolf Hitler chortled derisively behind closed doors, knowing he’d discovered the key to railroading his plans through: “They [German pastors] will submit. … They are insignificant little people, submissive as dogs, and they sweat with embarrassment when you talk to them.”

Granted, we are not facing the Fuhrer, but redefining marriage means redefining religious liberty, and that would imperil us all—our children, our grandchildren and our future as a nation.

Alan Chambers, Rob Bell and Jim Wallis crisscross the country advocating for an unscriptural, squishy, spineless approach to this hot-button issue of homosexuality. The WNBA No. 1 draft pick from Baylor Baptist University, Brittany Griner, invites girls to follow her lesbian example as a new role model in USA Today. Even our president holds nothing back in pronouncing, “God bless you!” at America’s No. 1 abortion provider’s convention, then flies to Africa after the Supreme Court ruling in order to promote gay rights there after last telling them, “Africa’s future is up to Africans!”

Thank God for our courageous African counterparts who aren’t capitulating but are instead standing strong amidst this moral storm. Thirty-seven nations there outlaw homosexuality, and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner and Africa’s first female president, boldly stands to say she opposes decriminalizing homosexuality in her country. “We’ve got certain traditional values in our society that we’d like to preserve,” she says.

Will you ask God to help you speak up as America is going down? We need to pray and foster another great revival before it’s too late. As Winston Churchill told his flock in England’s “darkest hour” as they faced the extinction of their democratic freedoms, “I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. … If we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new dark age. … Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its commonwealth last 4,000 years, men will still say, ‘This was their finest hour.’”

Charisma: Gays Will Destroy America Like Nazis in Germany

Responding to the White House’s LGBT Pride celebration, Pastor Larry Tomczak in Charisma magazine maintained that gays and their allies are putting America “on the path to destruction.” Tomczak writes that events which “brazenly celebrate, legitimize and promote the gay lifestyle in America” are part of the country’s “downward spiral” and gay “tsunami.”

After the pastor shared a story about how his father-in-law, a veteran of World War II, confronted his church for not speaking out more aggressively against homosexuality, Tomczak drew parallels between gays in America and Nazis in 1930s Germany: “It would do us well to recall that in Nazi Germany, only a small percentage of the people were part of the Nazi party. Amid the atrocities, the overwhelming majority were apathetic and afraid to speak up…. Is history repeating itself?”

Observing the president of our United States on Thursday in the White House, kicking off the official celebration of "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Month," he was introduced by two 9-year-old girls celebrating their lesbian mothers.

Flanked by a smiling Vice President Biden, President Obama then called out individuals with gay backgrounds amid applause. Finally, he reaffirmed his commitment to same-sex marriage and gay initiatives in America. This coincides with his administration releasing directives so that individuals will be forced to affirm homosexuality in the federal government. Remaining silent will be seen as discrimination and put their jobs in jeopardy.

Last week in Washington, D.C., was the giant gay pride event. This week it comes to Nashville, Tenn. These events are taking place all over America to brazenly celebrate, legitimize and promote the gay lifestyle in America. Having attended multiple events like this to share the gospel over the past decade, I can assure you there are parades, but they're not G-rated. Although children are everywhere, nudity, profanity, debauchery, drunkenness and drug abuse abound.

What is happening to our United States of America?

1. The downward spiral described in Romans 1 is unfolding before our eyes in this great country. Refusing to honor and give thanks to God, we are being turned over to our own self-indulgence, which takes us on the path to destruction unless there is revival.

A few days ago, my wife's father, who is in his early 90s, spoke something to me that had tremendous impact on my life. He is a committed Christian, an elder and part of what is oftentimes called "the Greatest Generation" due to their courageous stand against the Nazis in World War II. Joe and Anne have been married 68 years!

He's never done this before, but he said he had a prophetic word to share with me. The core of it: "Why are leaders in our churches and ministries afraid to speak up in a charitable way concerning what's happening regarding homosexuality today?"

It would do us well to recall that in Nazi Germany, only a small percentage of the people were part of the Nazi party. Amid the atrocities, the overwhelming majority were apathetic and afraid to speak up. Consider the consequences.

Is history repeating itself?

It is imperative that those of us who are authentic Christians come to grips with the reality and urgency of this hour. We are in a tsunami! Our ship is filled with holes; the mast has fallen off; the navigation system has gone awry; and many of our leaders are nowhere to be found or strangely silent.

The opposition is not ashamed. The clock is ticking. A third Great Awakening awaits all of us if we respond to His prompting in this day.
