Pratt: Democrats Push Gun Control Because 'They're Afraid Of Getting Shot And They Ought To Be!'

Larry Pratt, president of Gun Owners of America, recently appeared on Gordon Klingenschmitt's "Pray In Jesus Name" program where he declared that Democratic lawmakers are rightly afraid of being shot by gun owners because "that’s what the Second Amendment is all about."

Klingenschmitt asked Pratt why wealthy activists like Bill Gates and Michael Bloomberg are willing to spend large amounts of money in supporting gun control measures when, according to Klingenschmitt, doing so only hurts Democrats at the polls.

Pratt said that Democrats in general support gun control because they are socialist "control freaks" who know that if they are ever going to be able to control every aspect of the lives of America citizens, they first need to take away all of their guns.

And those guns first need to be taken away, Pratt said, because Democrats are fully aware that their efforts to exert total control will result in them getting shot.

"They clearly want to exercise power that, in their judgment, would cause enough push-back to stop them from doing what they're doing," Pratt said. "And I just said in a nice way that they're afraid of getting shot and they ought to be! That's what the Second Amendment is all about. They ought to be afraid of an armed people so that they don't get into a situation where they would actually provoke violence":

This is not the first time Pratt has expressed the sentiment. This summer, he earned a rebuke from the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords — a Democratic lawmaker was shot in an assassination attempt — for saying that the fear of assassination was "a healthy fear" for members of Congress to have.

Klingenschmitt: Satan Is Silencing God's Prophets Through Ex-Gay Therapy Bans

On today's "Pray In Jesus Name" program, Gordon Klingenschmitt reacted to a recent decision by the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals upholding New Jersey's ban on the use of sexual orientation conversion therapy on minors by declaring that Satan is using lawmakers to silence the prophets of God.

"There is a demonic spirit of persecution that is in some politicians," he said. "The Devil is influencing them to persecute Christians and they're using the courts to do it, they're using these laws to do it, they want to silence the prophets!"

Those who practice such therapy, Kilngenschmitt said, are prophets who have been "called to help these people get free of their sin."

"This court is commanding psychologists, if you prophesy, if you quote the Bible, you're going to lose your license," Klingenschmitt declared. "You know what? They're the ones who are wrong and you're the ones who are right if you're trying to help a teen get free of their sin":

Klingenschmitt: Christians Will Be Forced To 'Worship Sodomy'

Colorado GOP politician Gordon Klingenschmitt is upset that a New York court fined a wedding business for denying service to a same-sex couple, warning in an email alert that “literally the court is banning Christian worship.”

Klingenschmitt, a Religious Right activist who is the Republican nominee for a seat in the Colorado State House, told members of his Pray In Jesus Name Project in a Saturday email that the court told the business owners that they “cannot worship Christ during a wedding, unless they also worship and participate equally in sodomy in their own home.”

Christians are fined $13,000 and may no longer celebrate the Christian sacrament of marriage in their own home, unless they also host lesbian weddings. Literally the court is banning Christian worship, saying these Christian farmers cannot worship Christ during a wedding, unless they also worship and participate equally in sodomy in their own home. They are now coming into our homes, and dictating our worship. This unconstitutional policy, to punish Christians (with no religious exemptions) will be law in all 50 states, if ENDA is passed.]

In another Pray In Jesus Name Project email on Sunday, Klingenschmitt said Senate Democrats are “literally trying to outlaw Christianity” by attempting to pass a bill overturning the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby ruling.

Democrats are literally trying to outlaw Christianity. Think about that. They now hate religious freedom so much, they're voting to reverse the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which back then was passed 97 to 3 by nearly all Democrats in the U.S. Senate. Today only 42 Republicans defend Christianity. Wow.

He previously accused a gay Democratic congressman of wanting to “behead Christians” and said “demonic” gay rights advocates are forcing Christians to “participate in their sodomy.”

'Klingenschmitt Has No Business In Public Office'

Yesterday the Colorado Springs Independent ran an article noting that electing Gordon Klingenschmitt to a seat in the state House of Representatives is probably not going to help the area's image, given Klingenschmitt's long history of insane statements.

So radical is Klingenschmitt that even Republican leaders in the state are working to distance themselves from him and to distance him from the party, largely in response to his recent statement that gay Democratic congressman Jared Polis would soon join ISIS and begin beheading Christians here in America:

The incident has prompted some party leaders to try to put him at arm's length. "Gordon does not speak on behalf of the Republican Party, and his comments in no way reflect the views of the Party," state GOP spokesman Owen Loftus said in a statement.

Although El Paso County GOP Chairman Jeff Hays told KOAA that Klingenschmitt is "part of our team," party executive Daniel Cole says via email that "In parts of the KOAA interview that did not air, Chairman Hays indicated, and now wants to emphasize, that he does not condone Gordon Klingenschmitt's comments. Klingenschmitt does not speak for the party or for other candidates, and the party does not speak for him."

...

Klingenschmitt declined to be interviewed for this story. In a February interview, he told the Independent he keeps his politics and religion separate. Fornander disputes that, citing his repeated references to religion during his campaign, including a comment that only people who are going to heaven are entitled to equal treatment under the law.

That kind of thing is beyond the pale for retired state Sen. Andy McElhany. "In my opinion, Klingenschmitt has no business in public office," the Republican says, "because he's more than extreme." McElhany added that electing someone like Klingenschmitt doesn't help the region's image.

Which brings us back to [El Paso County Democratic Party executive Christy] Le Lait. "At some point, the people in this county are going to have to ask themselves, 'What do we want?'" she says. "Are we serious about bringing jobs and economic development, or are we OK with being called the capital of crazy?"

The idea that Klingenschmitt will keep his religion and politics separate is laughable considering that we have multiple examples of Klingenschmitt saying exactly the opposite. As a matter of fact, just yesterday he said that America's foreign policy needs to be based on his interpretation of the Bible.

On top of that, he has defended the Second Amendment on the grounds that the Bible says Christians need to own weapons in order to protect themselves from "left wing crazies."

He has said that gay marriage can never be legalized because it violates God's law and defended anti-gay laws on the grounds that recruiting children into homosexuality is "totally illegal in the economy and law of God."

He has declared that those who cannot enter church are not entitled to use public facilities, said that those who will not enter Heaven are not entitled to equal protection under the law, and asserted that gay people should face discrimination as a matter of public policy.

Nothing better demonstrates the absurdity of Klingenschmitt's claim that he will separate his religion from his politics than this clip of him openly declaring that "American law needs to reflect God's law":

Despite the copious evidence that, as Colorado's former Republican Senate Minority Leader Andy McElhany put it, "Klingenschmitt has no business in public office," Klingenschmitt has managed to outraise his Democratic opponent nearly 15-1 in the race for the seat representing a heavily Republican district:

Gordon Klingenschmitt, the Republican aiming to win House District 15 on the eastern edge of Colorado Springs, has raised $44,914 to date, while Democratic candidate Lois Fornander has raised $3,312.

Klingenschmitt: America Must Base Foreign Policy On The Bible Or Face God's Judgment

On yesterday's "Pray In Jesus Name" program, Gordon Klingenschmitt responded to reports that the Obama administration had ordered the Pentagon to stop sending weapons and equipment to Israel without prior approval from the White House by warning that such a move is putting this nation at risk of receiving God's judgment.

Klingenschmitt declared that "the Scriptures call for Washington" to ensure that America's foreign policy is based upon the Bible, saying that "the foreign policy of our national security to protect American interests ought to be in line with Joel chapter three."

In Joel 3, God warns that nations will be put "on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land."

"Who is He talking about there?" Klingenschmitt warned. "He's talking about America if we are among those who have scattered Israel among the nations and divided up God's land":

Klingenschmitt Denounced By Colorado Republican Leader Whose Seat He Hopes To Fill

The other day we noted that Gordon Klingenschmitt had been forced to issue a half-hearted apology after sending out an email asserting that gay Democratic congressman Jared Polis would soon be aligning himself with ISIS and begin beheading Christians in America.

Klingenschmitt, who is currently the GOP nominee for a seat in the Colorado legislature, was immediately denounced by both Democratic and Republican leaders in the state and now he has been specifically denounced by former House Minority Leader, Mark Waller, who held the very seat for which Klingenschmitt is now running:

Former House Minority Leader Mark Waller on Aug. 27 blasted the fellow Republican who is seeking to succeed him over his recent "horribly inappropriate" anti-gay comments.

Waller, who is not seeking re-election for his Colorado Springs-based House District 15 seat, also told Colorado Community Media that Gordon Klingenschmitt's candidacy "certainly does have an impact" on other races on the fall ballot.

...

Waller said his "11-year-old son can identify that as a hateful speech."

"I think it was horribly inappropriate to say," Waller said. "It doesn't matter if he's a person running for state representative or a person on the street. I think it's terrible to say.

"Obviously, he does not speak for me or the Republican Party."

Waller hasn't endorsed Klingenschmitt, but he wouldn't go as far as saying that he should drop out of the race - as Klingenschmitt's opponent, Democrat Lois Fornander has.

"If you're not voting for him, you're voting for the Democrat and quite honestly legislative majorities matter," Waller said. "But that puts (House District 15 voters) in a rock and a hard place in terms of who to vote for."

House District 15 is heavily Republican and Klingenschmitt is still favored to win, in spite of his recent comments.

For his part, Klingenschmitt says that he is sorry for his comments but blames it on the fact that he wrote the email late at night.

"I'm a first-time candidate," Klingenschmitt said, "and I am new at this":

Klingenschmitt apologized earlier in the week and did so again during a phone interview. He said he was trying to point out the "bad policies of Jared Polis," but that he realizes his comments were offensive.

Klingenschmitt has taken issue with Polis' backing of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. He said the legislation should have religious exceptions.

"I apologize for the hyperbole and I wrote that statement when I was tired between 1 and 2 in the morning, but I do not apologize for defending Christians for persecution."

When asked if it dawned on him that he was using language that has historically been used to persecute gays while trying to defend Christians from "persecution," Klingenschmitt said, "I don't accept the premise of the question."

Klingenschmitt said he hopes voters will see past his comments.

"I'm a first-time candidate and I am new at this," he said. "I made a mistake and I won't always say the right thing, but I do have a backbone and I will always stand on conviction."

Klingenschmitt 'Apologizes' For Accusing Rep. Jared Polis Of Wanting To Join ISIS & Behead Christians

Over the weekend, Gordon Klingenschmitt, the demon-obsessed anti-gay exorcist who is the GOP nominee for a seat in the Colorado legislature, sent out an email from his Pray In Jesus Name organization in which he declared that gay Democratic congressman Jared Polis would soon be aligning himself with ISIS and begin beheading Christians here in America:

“The openly homosexual Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO) introduced a revised bill to force Christian employers and business owners to hire and promote homosexuals with ZERO RELIGIOUS EXEMPTIONS for Christians who want to opt out.

“Polis ‘wants sexual orientation and gender identity treated the same way as race, religion, sex, and national origin, when it comes to employment protections,’ claims the Advocate, under the headline “Polis trims ENDA’s religious exemption.

“Dr. Chaps’ comment: The open persecution of Christians is underway. Democrats like Polis want to bankrupt Christians who refuse to worship and endorse his sodomy. Next he’ll join ISIS in beheading Christians, but not just in Syria, right here in America.”

Needless to say, that comment did not sit well with Democratic or Republican leaders in Colorado who quickly denounced Klingenschmitt:

The accusation prompted Mark Ferrandino, Speaker of the Colorado House, to condemn the remarks and demand that Colorado Republicans do the same.

“I call on Ryan Call and other Republicans to denounce Mr. Klingenschmitt and his homophobic, extreme, and slanderous attacks against Congressman Polis,” said Ferrandino in a statement.

GOP officials in Colorado have disowned Klingenschmitt before and this time was no different.

“As Chairman Call has said in the past, Gordon does not speak on behalf of the Republican Party, and his comments in no way reflect the views of the Party. Gordon needs to give a sincere apology,” said Owen Loftus, a Colorado GOP spokesman, in a statement.

In response, Klingenschmitt filmed a video in which he half-heartedly apologized, saying that he was merely using hyperbole and "some Democrats do not have a sense of humor," before dumping a bucket of water on his head as he challenged Polis, as well as Ferrandino and Call, to take the ALS #IceBucketChallenge:

Every Natural Disaster Since 1991 Has Been God's Punishment On America For Cursing Israel

On his "Pray In Jesus Name" program yesterday, Gordon Klingenschmitt interviewed John McTernan of USA Prophecy about his book "As America Has Done To Israel" in which he "reveals the direct correlation between America interfering with God's prophetic plan for Israel and incredible disasters hitting America."

As McTernan explained to Klingenschmitt, just about every major natural disaster that has struck the United States since 1991 has been as a result of America trying to force Israel to give up land for peace. McTernan said that President George H.W Bush's vacation home in Maine was damaged when the US co-sponsored the Madrid Peace Conference as a sign from God and, since then, America has been hit by massive natural disasters every time this nation has tried to "pressure Israel to divide the land."

"That includes the North Ridge Earthquake," McTernan said, "It includes Hurricane Andrew, Hurricane Katrina, it includes the tremendous tornado outbreak in Joplin, Missouri and many, many, many other of these massive disasters and there is an Israeli component at the very time of the disasters."

Klingenschmitt agreed, saying these disasters are to be interpreted as "the wrath of God against America when we choose to violate Scripture" by having "cursed" Israel:

CO State Senator Explains That Fracking Poses No Danger Because Having High Amounts Of Methane In The Water Is Totally Natural

A few weeks ago, Gordon Klingenschmitt attended the The Western Conservative Summit in Denver where he managed to score interviews with a variety of elected Republicans and conservative activists, which he has been featuring on his daily "Pray In Jesus Name" program.

On today's show, Klingenschmitt interviewed Colorado state Senator Randy Baumgardner, who defended the practice of fracking by declaring that having high amounts of methane in the water is totally natural.

"They talk about methane in the water and this, that, and the other," Baumgardner told Klingenschmitt, "but if you go back in history and look at how the Indians traveled, they traveled to the burning waters. And that was methane in the waters and that was for warmth in the wintertime. So a lot of people, if they just trace back the history, they'll know how a lot of this is propaganda":

Jim DeMint Tells Dr. Chaps You Can't 'Understand Our Country’ Without 'A Faith Lens'

Demon-obsessed pastor and Colorado GOP state House nominee Gordon “Dr. Chaps” Klingenschmitt apparently had a ball at last month’s Western Conservative Summit, where he managed to corner any number of GOP luminaries for interviews that he has been rolling out over the last few weeks on his “Pray In Jesus Name” program.

On yesterday’s program, Klingenschmitt unveiled his interviews with Colorado congressional candidate Ken Buck and Heritage Foundation president Jim DeMint (previous interviews have included Sen. Mike Lee,Ben Carson, and being part of a gaggle of reporters filming Sen. Ted Cruz).

DeMint gave Klingenschmitt the Christian-nation views he was searching for, telling him that it’s impossible to “understand our country and what made it so exceptional” without seeing it through “a faith lens because that’s the way our founders looked at it.”

“We need to get the government to stop purging faith from all aspects of our society,” he added.

Gordon Klingenschmitt Scores An Exclusive Interview With Sen. Mike Lee

The Western Conservative Summit was held in Denver earlier this month and Gordon Klingenschmitt, the demon-obsessed anti-gay exorcist who is the GOP nominee for a seat in the Colorado legislature, was on hand to get his photo taken and score exclusive interviews with some of the speakers, including Sen. Mike Lee of Utah.

Klingenschmitt asked Lee about the effort by Democrats in the Senate to reverse the Supreme Court's Hobby Lobby decision and though the effort failed, Lee warned it "was nothing short of a full-frontal attack on religious liberty itself."

"This is not about women's health," Lee told Klingenschmitt, "as much as they would like to try and dress it up that way. This is about religious freedom and this is an all-out, no-holds-barred attack on that and it's one that we have to resist":

Klingenschmitt: Religions That Require Women To Marry Their Rapists Are Demonic

Earlier this month, India's Supreme Court ruled that fatwas issued by Sharia courts carried no legal power and could not be enforced by the government or against the will of those who refuse to abide by them.

Gordon Klingenschmitt was quite pleased with this decision because, as he said on today's "Pray In Jesus Name" program, Islam is a false and demonic religion as demonstrated by the fact that it requires women who have been raped to marry their rapist.

"That's a demonic spirit," Klingenschmitt said, "when you force a woman to marry her rapist and you call that good practicing of Islam. I think Islam is demonic so far as it teaches that kind of teaching."

Apparently, Klingenschmitt has never read the Bible, specifically Deuteronomy 22:28-29:

28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

Gordon Klingenschmitt Says Those Who Can't Enter Church Shouldn't Be Able To Use Public Restrooms

On his "Pray In Jesus Name" program yesterday, Gordon Klingenschmitt discussed a lawsuit filed against Hobby Lobby by a transgender female employee who claims that she was denied access to the women's restroom facilities.

Klingenschmitt, of course, was not at all sympathetic, citing Deuteronomy 23 to argue that since transgender people are not allowed in church, they should not be allowed to use gender-appropriate bathrooms.

"The Scriptures say in Deuteronomy 23," Klingenschmitt said, "that he that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord. And if they can't enter the congregation of the Lord, they certainly shouldn't be allowed to enter the ladies bathroom":

Klingenschmitt: 'Penalty' For Homosexuality Is ‘Spiritual Death’

Gordon Klingenschmitt, who is the GOP nominee for a state legislative seat in Colorado, is obviously not pleased with the Colorado county clerks who have started issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

On his “Pray In Jesus Name” program yesterday, Klingenschmitt reminded the clerks that “homosexuality is not only an abomination, not only worthy of death,” but comes with a “penalty” that amounts to “spiritual death.”

“They say, ‘Oh, it’s all about love.’ No, it’s about lust, it’s about selfishness,” he said. “They don’t care about the other person, they want self-gratification for themselves, contrary to their own nature, contrary to what God designed for them. And they receive in themselves the penalty for that error.”

“The penalty for that sin is not just STDS or some biological curse, not just AIDS, but they receive into themselves the demonic spirit that rules their hearts, and with that comes ultimately the consequence of spiritual death.”

Klingenschmitt adds that he is just the “messenger” when he tells gay people that “you’re going to hell.”

Dave Daubenmire Seeks To Raise Up Godly Men Who 'Want To Defend The Lord, Not Sit On His Lap'

Today's installment of Gordon Klingenschmitt's "Pray In Jesus Name" program featured an interview with none other than "Coach" Dave Daubenmire in which the two men agreed that what America needs today is the establishment of a "manly Christianity" that will raise up warriors for God.

Fuming that Christian men "have refused to stand up and engage in the cultural battle" and instead hired Republican "mercenaries to fight the fight that I believe God mandated the church to fight," Daubenmire declared that America desperately needs "a manly Gospel and a manly Christianity" because the contemporary church has become "sissified."

"I'm after men," Daubenmire said. "I want to train up Godly men who will serve the Lord in the fear and admonition of the Lord. I want to defend the Lord, not sit on his lap":

Klingenschmitt: Atheists Should Undergo An Exorcism To Rid Them Of The Devil So They'll Feel Comfortable In Church

Back in 2012, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against a Wisconsin school district that had been holding its graduation ceremonies in a local church, declaring that doing so "conveys an impermissible message of endorsement." The school district appealed the decision to the Supreme Court which, last month, declined to hear the case.

Gordon Klingenschmitt, who is currently the Republican candidate for a state house seat in Colorado, weighed in on the Supreme Court's refusal to hear this case on his "Pray In Jesus Name" program where he offered a novel solution: atheists who don't want to attend their public school graduation in a church should just undergo an exorcism to rid them of the Devil so that they'll be comfortable attending church and "free to enjoy the worship of Jesus Christ."

"If the atheist complainer is so uncomfortable when they walk into a church that there's something inside of them squirming and making them feel these feelings of hatred toward the cross of Jesus Christ," Klingenschmitt said, "don't you think it's something inside of the atheist complainer that's wrong?"

"I have a solution," he continued. "Let's do an exorcism and cast the Devil out of them and then they'll feel comfortable when they walk into church":

Klingenschmitt Promotes Debunked Claim To Warn That 'Disarming Veterans Is A Form Of National Suicide'

Last year, a conservative blogger riled-up a bunch of folks on the Right by claiming that the Department of Veterans Affairs was unilaterally declaring some veterans to be mentally incompetent and thereby prohibiting them from buying or possessing guns.

The claim was so baseless that none other than Twitchy quickly debunked it but, amazingly, well over a year later, Gordon Klingenschmitt reported the original story as entirely true on his "Pray In Jesus Name" program this week, declaring that efforts to disarm veterans amounts to "national suicide."

"What is the Second Amendment designed to protect," Klingenschmitt asked, "but American national security. And if troops who are retired or no longer in the active duty military, they go home and they're disarmed, then America will be defenseless."

We are not quite sure how disarming mentally incompetent veterans would leave America "defenseless" considering that America would still have, you know, the strongest military in the world.
