In an interview with Newsmax’s J.D. Hayworth today, Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana suggested that the Obama administration lied about the terror threat posed by Khorasan Group — a group of al Qaeda operatives in Syria — in order to justify airstrikes and ultimately help Democrats in the upcoming election. “Are you afraid the administration cries wolf once too often in these situations?” Hayworth asked. “Yes, particularly right before an election,” Vitter responded. Later in the interview, Vitter claimed that the administration is offering public... MORE >

David Vitter appears to have embraced Michele Bachmann’s plan to prevent immigrants from sending money to their home countries, telling Sandy Rios in an interview yesterday that the U.S. government needs to “crack down” on remittances. When Rios asked the Louisiana senator about remittances, which she feared could be going to “terrorists,” Vitter said he has “a proposal to put an end to that, to either end or put a heavy, heavy fine on those sorts of transfers and dedicate that money, use that money specifically for border or workplace enforcement.”... Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) today claimed that changing Senate rules to allow a simple majority of the US Senate to vote on judicial nominees appointed by the President is a shameful act that is “scary and dictatorial for our country.” As Steve Benen noted, the supposedly dictatorial rule brings things back to “the way the Senate worked for about 200 years, largely without incident.” In fact, Vitter supported the same rules change back in 2005, saying yes-or-no votes on judicial nominees fulfill “our constitutional duty to give advice and consent when a president... The Family Policy Network is actually acknowledging of the hypocrisy of the Anthony Weiner situation and is therefore calling on Sen. David Vitter to resign. Michele Bachmann gets the Matt Tiabbi treatment. Why is Elaine Donnelly commenting on USDA policy? Sometime I think Bryan Fischer is just intentionally dense. He does understand the difference between people deciding not to join something and being banned from joining, does he not? Cindy Jacobs lays out God's plan for the nation. MORE >

The topic of today's episode of Liberty Counsel's Faith and Freedom Radio program was "How Should Christians React To Rep. Weiner Twitter Scandal?" and Matt Barber and Deryl Edwards used it as an opportunity to comment on the "hypocrisy" of the left because, they asserted, Republican members of Congress who get caught in a scandal get run out of town on a rail by conservatives: Oh, I see ... just like Republicans and the Religious Right didn't do with either Senator David Vitter and Senator John Ensign? In fact, the last time I checked, Vitter was still sitting in... MORE >

Last week when Jeremy Hooper discovered that the Family Research Council was planning to roll out a campaign fighting back against the Southern Poverty Law Center's designation of the organization as an anti-gay hate group, we noted that FRC was asking people to sign on to the campaign to "stand in solidarity with Family Research Council, American Family Association, Concerned Women of America, National Organization for Marriage, Liberty Counsel and other pro-family organizations that are working to protect and promote natural marriage and family." By doing so, we pointed... MORE >
